First time back in a long while. Food is still outstanding as well as the waitresses being perfect and attentive. Wasn't too loud at all and very comfortable homely feeling. Definitely give this place a visit if you're in the area.

My wife and I ate there this week for the first time. The food was excellent the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was homey. I enjoyed every aspect of my meal. I am looking forward to going back. John Pruitt

Not wheelchair friendly at all. Which is illegal. We'd love to go eat there but until they put in a ramp and allow for a person in a wheelchair to get in and then maneuver once inside, it's a big no for us. read more

When you first get there, you are taken aback by the fact that it is a normal looking house instead of some big brick building sitting there looking at you. However, the service was quick and friendly with everyone we came in contact with, the food was absolutely delicious and affordable. They had a great sweet tea and great home-cooked menu items. Everyone in our party wanted to go back; we live in North Carolina or this would be a new favorite frequent spot with my group. Hands down the best place we went. read more

Where have you bern all my life? Oh I must have driven past about 100 times and had no idea what greatness was inside. Such friendly staff and the food was the greatest. Nothing fancy but it sure was a great hamburger and fries. My friends had hot dogs and the desserts were cakes like your grandma made. I am not just driving by Tavas on an empty stomach again. read more

Good Quality Food. Simple Small Menu. Freshly Prepared Items. My only issue is the poor "packaging" of to go or take out food. The Styrofoam Boxes do not have sections. All the Food runs together. And they pack hot items with chilled items. By the time my hubby got my to go order home, for me to enjoy, my 8oz. Hamburger Steak had absorbed the Cole Slaw 'juice', my Sweet Potato Tots were soaked in the Cole Slaw 'juice' and the Cole Slaw itself was warm from being contained wth the hot items. It tasted spoiled. So please ask and specify to Tava's to kindly separate the cold items from hot items on the To Go and Take Out orders. No one wants to eat hot Cole Slaw or Soggy Food. With that expressed, we love Tava's Diner in Covington. GA! read more

Tavas Diner is a good place to eat. The beef there is great. Hand cut fries, a great salad. I only have one thing I do not agree with. They charge you their fee they get charged from their credit card machine company. Up charge of 3.99% if you don't use cash. So take cash!! Or let them know you don't agree with them charging customers their fees. Fees owning a business is part of it. It would be best to offer cash payments only. Don't pass your fees to your customer. On your receipt you will see a charge non taxable. My fee last night was .47. read more

What a gem in Covington, Ga. They have the best hamburger I have ever eaten, the fries are home cut, they make their own sauces, and everything that I've had is delicious. The service is friendly and prompt, the restaurant is nice and clean, and the prices are cheap. I highly recommend the double cheeseburger with fries. read more

Unfortunately I can't really speak to the quality of the food, only the service, or lack thereof. I tried to have lunch this afternoon but wasn't successful. I stood and waited to be seated for a good solid 10 minutes. No one helped me, no one spoke to me, no one told me if I should seat myself, nothing. There are no signs, and the layout is kind of odd, as the building is an old house, so I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. But since no one bothered to help me, I don't think the employees do either. read more

I have been longing for an old fashioned hamburger the kind you used to get at Hester's pool hall down the street before they closed for the locals. So I ordered a burger with fries. The employees I came into contact with were all nice the server must've been suffering from a cold because she had a runny nose. The food I am sad to say wasn't tasty at all. read more

They have a special each weekday. They also have very good food and service. On Friday their special is hamburger steak and gravy with two sides, a roll and a drink for $7. Very reasonably priced and I would recommend this little restaurant to anyone. read more

This place is excellent. I got the wings and they were fresh and done right! I also love the real homestyle fries. They were like home cooked. I will deffinatly be back to try the other items. Goat-themed artwork is scattered throughout the restaurant, including some fun paintings that immediately caught our attention. The atmosphere feels more like a cozy tavern than a traditional taco restaurant, with dark wood, booths, and a comfortable setting that invites you to settle in and stay awhile. One interesting piece of local history is the building itself. We learned that in 1906, this building housed an antique market. Think about that for a moment. If someone was selling antiques here in 1906, some of those "antiques" might have been from the 1800s. More than a century later, the building is still serving visitors, although these days the focus is tacos rather than antiques. Covington itself is worth mentioning. The city has become known as Georgia's Hollywood of the South, with more than 100 movies and television productions filmed here over the years. Fans of The Vampire Diaries and Sweet Magnolias will recognize many locations around town. If you're visiting the area, there is plenty to see before or after dinner. Our server for the evening was Jordan, who provided friendly service throughout the meal. The menu features eleven different taco varieties, which immediately created a dilemma. Narrowing the choices down to just three was not easy. We ultimately chose the Fried Fish Taco, the Philly Taco, and the Sesame Ribeye Taco. The tacos are available as a trio, allowing you to sample three different varieties on one platter. The meal also came with chips, salsa, and queso, making it easy to share and compare flavors. Let's start with the Fried Fish Taco because it ended up being my favorite of the three. The fish itself had excellent flavor and was cooked just right. The taco was topped with a sauce that brought a unique flavor to the experience, and the crunchy slaw added texture that worked beautifully with the fish. Every component contributed something to the overall bite. This was the taco that surprised me the most and ultimately earned the top spot in my personal ranking. The Philly Taco finished a very close second. If you're a fan of Philly cheesesteaks, you'll immediately understand the appeal. Loaded with shaved ribeye, peppers, onions, and cheese, it delivered exactly the flavors I was hoping for. It was rich, satisfying, and packed with flavor. Sometimes simple combinations work for a reason, and this taco proved that point. The Sesame Ribeye Taco was the most unique of the three. The sesame-soy flavor was bold and immediately noticeable. I enjoyed the flavor profile and appreciated that it took the taco in a different direction than what I typically experience. Rather than trying to imitate a traditional taco, it offered something distinct and memorable. Anyone looking for a creative twist on a taco will likely find this one especially interesting. One thing I appreciated about the trio platter was the opportunity to compare very different flavor profiles side by side. The Fried Fish Taco offered a balance of fish, sauce, and crunch. The Philly Taco delivered familiar comfort-food flavors. The Sesame Ribeye Taco brought a bold and unique flavor profile to the table. Each taco had its own personality, which made the comparison part of the fun. The chips were crisp, the salsa was fresh, and the queso provided a nice complement to the tacos. Combined with the trio platter, it was more than enough food for a satisfying meal. The Social Goat manages to be more than just a taco stop. Between the historic building, the goat-themed decor, the welcoming tavern atmosphere, and a menu filled with creative options, it offers an experience that stands out from the typical restaurant visit. The green beans were cooked like my great grandmother used to cook them seasoned with meat and wonderfully tender - fried okra was good also - I had questions and the chef herself came to the table and explained things - my companion got the African Palm butter - chicken, goat, crab, crayfish served with rice - it was a little spicy but he said it was much more flavorful than spicy - we didn't get a picture We also had a jerk chicken plantain boat appetizer that was full of flavor and a nice size to share! Ebony was our server - prompt, polite and friendly- we wanted for nothing! A lovely young lady! Black linens and sparkling glassware - a beautiful place to dine! If you're in the area, check it out! A great shop and I know it was one of Ian's favorite spots too - check out his star right in front of the shop!

So let me start off by saying I liked my food I had the tenders and fries & a side of okra but it was not worth the price, it was just average, my mom on the other hand had a horrible experience, she ordered the pork chop dinner with 2 sides, she said the pork chop was under cooked and rubbery, the fried green tomatoes were mushy and the potato salad was too mustardy (that's not even a word), she first swapped out her potato salad for some tator totts and she said they were too greasy and tasted like old grease, then she just sent her whole plate back and ordered a Chilli hotdog, she said the Chilli tasted like can Chilli and the hotdog tasted like a cheap hot dog, she says she'll never go there again. Now even though my experience wasn't as bad I don't think I'll be going back either. Oh and I forgot to mention the waitress was really weird, she was doing too much, she was nice but in a weird way, she'd come over and shake my sons drink to see if he needed a refill without asking, so it was just awkward. Tavas diner is truly a hidden gem located in Covington Georgia. The owner and staff are friendly and makes you feel welcomed. The food is home comfort food and very delicious. They have specials Tuesday through Friday. If you are looking for a good hamburger and fries then look no further. Their hamburgers are always fresh cooked and the fries are fresh cut daily. I highly recommend giving them a try. You won't be disappointed! read more

It IS wheelchair accessible through the back door which is where the parking is. It's the main entrance and exit and is ground level. It is inspected by the fire department yearly, so nothing illegal. read more
