Omg!! This place was just soo good!! I had the banana macadamia nut pancakes and the spam and eggs that I split with my mom. First time ever trying spam and eggs and it was delicious. I also tried the potatoes which I'm not a big fan of in the first place but these were amazing!!!! The waitress was really nice also even though it was quite busy. I definitely recommend this place, and will return on my next vacation! read more

Eggs 'n Things - Waikiki Beach Eggspress - ACAI !!!! aggghhh soooo good - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

(Jan 15th 2013) Hawaii's Best Breakfast. Two days in it was clear by traveling companions were not breakfast people. So Today I ventured out to obtain "Hawaii's Best Breakfast". Fortunately having previously read "101 things to do in Oahu" I knew exactly where to go. As I approached "Eggs n' Things" and half block away I encountered a line. I knew this could not be the line to get into the "Beachfront Eggspress" location. I soon learned I was correct as this was the line to get to the line to get in. When you make it to the front of this first line you are given a menu and directed to the correct line based on dine in or takeaway. For those you who are worried about the wait being able to read Japanese will help. It takes a couple minutes for this host (dressed in authentic Hawaiian garb) to track down some English menus. The next line moves quickly and soon you are talking with a pleasant Hawaiian girl. Although she speaks clear and proper English she as a habit of pointing to the selections on her iPad for clarification. I ordered the "Ahi and eggs". I typically do not order items with the price MRKT as I associate that with the most expensive item on the menu. But in Hawaii that is not the case it simply means $14.95. The girl had no shortage of options and each choice brings more options. When we got to the spices, for obvious reasons I selected the one i could not pronounce. Due to her excellent pointing abilities this presented no hurdle. The beverage choice was easy. There was only one thing on the menu I had never had - "Plantation Tea". Dine and dashers will be disappointed to learn at this step you are in the cashier line to pay. While paying I opted to not pre-tip. After paying you are given the paging coasters and off to find a seat. Dining single had an advantage at this point as I was able to share the counter with some very friendly Japanese folk. They were from Tokyo and worked in the fish market. Well they could have at least, there was a slight language barrier. You know for that manner I am not sure they were friendly at all. They could have been making a mockery of me. Well those of you who do not mind dining with Japanese will find the ambiance inviting. I suspect that this category of people is the minority as it was just me and a couple from New Jersey. The food was served quickly so fast so that I was unable to create the back story of all my fellow diners. Less experienced diners may fall victim to the pretentiousness of the plating. Paper plates and plastic forks put an air of snobbery on the meal. I went straight for a bite of the Ahi. It only took a bite to realize this was on track to indeed be the "best breakfast in Hawaii". The unpronounceable seasoning was the correct one to select. Next I turned to the pancakes. As a fan I have eaten enough pancakes to know what a good pancake looks like... and These looked sickly pale. I feared that this was were the "Best Breakfast..." was over. I grabbed the only syrup I had never tried.... Coconut. Then against my impulses I took a bite. Tears began to run down my face. I would never be a able to be a fan of pancakes again. In fact before that moment I had never had a truly good pancake. Once on my pallet The cherubs began playing, a beam of light burst down from the heavens. I had to fight back the urge to jump up and scream like the chick the in herbal essence commercial. The eggs also a funny color added a confetti shower. There is no doubt it is the Best Breakfast in Hawaii". After eating I sat back sipping my plantation tea. After several minutes of envisioning the "You got pineapple in my tea/You got Tea in my pineapple juice" moment, I pondered why is this not the "Best Breakfast in the World"? I quickly chase that thought from my mind. I do not deserve that much pleasure. Anything that tasted better than this would kill me... Eggs n' Things - Beachfront Eggspress location easily a 5 shaka meal!!!! read more

Fantastic breakfast place with a great view. Coconut syrup on the pineapple pancakes with a side of eggs over easy, and my morning was set.

Good place for a traditional breakfast you should try the Benedict eggs and corn beef hash brown mmm pay an orden while you are in line waiting read more

Food was decent, however the spam and green onion omelette was not made with spam, or at least spam as it's supposed to be prepared. It was salad bar ham. read more

Awesome breakfast! Strawberry and sour creams crepes were ah-mazing! Get their pancakes and go for the coconut syrup! Probably made them the best tasting pancakes I've ever had! Pineapple orange juice was yummy too! Definitely try this place out, there is a line for a reason! read more

Had to go for a 2nd time that next day as the 1st day, the line was out the door. Not the best loco moco but not bad. It was warm but breezy. read more

The line at the door is clearly a tourist mirage of something that was going to be worth the money. Upon getting to the line, no waffles. A HUGE portion of their menu is waffles, and they had none before 8. Once we sat down, the cream on the table was spoiled and instantly curdled the second it hit my coffee. I had to personally take my coffee up to the counter since no one came back to our table from start to finish of our meal. The cup they provided was filthy. I ordered the crab cake Benedict, the crab cake seemed like a pre-made frozen patty that was warmed up in the microwave and made solely from imitation crab. Then You have to pay up front, which means tip too. Smart on their part, since they'll get the money without providing the service. You are in HAWAII, go somewhere worth your MONEY and somewhere you won't be disappointed on your vacation. read more

So, I saw the line one morning and decided to finally try it. Well, it was just okay. I had a pineapple and e coconut waffle. I have had better quality waffles but, they were good with the coconut syrup. My juice was kinda warm and the home style potatoes were just okay. read more

Portuguese sausage and the pineapple iced tea! Also tried the strawberry topped pancakes and added their coconut syrup, fluffy and perfectly tasty! read more

This is a very average "Dennys like" kind of restaurant. The food was okay. I got eggs, bacon and a side of pancakes...it all tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for the last half hour. Also, just know that at least at the waikiki location you order outside and pay/tip before you eat...it's very weird. read more

Definitely the worst food I had in Honolulu. First of all their checkin system is completely wrong for the customer. You are supposed to order first(decide everything you want) and pay including the tip and then you'd be shown to a table. This is optimized for the restaurants profit but is really annoying for the customer. I asked the reasoning behind this and the host/manager explained that only Americans hate this and leave crap reviews on yelp and that they're going to convert every restaurant in Waikiki to this system(yeah sure..). As for the actual food: they got me the wrong kind of rice, the omelette was swimming in grease and the French toast was super dry and not good. Given that I was probably the last customer of the day I can understand how they'd mess up the order but the taste was simply not good and I was ravenous... You might ask why I didn't say anything at the restaurant and am ranting about it on yelp? Mainly cause I was too tired to stir up a conversation about the food but then after coming back decided to write a negative yelp review as a non American to express my dislike for the shit checkin system. Either be a food truck or a proper sit down place where you have to pay after you eat and not have to decide everything at the door... make up your mind eggs and things read more

Fantastic breakfast at a reasonable price. I really like their system if ordering in line, paying, then sitting down. It streamlines the process and moves people through quicker. This is important because as soon as they open, there is a line. Go early, or be prepared to wait a while. I've gone twice this week in my visit to Waikiki, and I hope to make it there once more before I leave. read more

Long line, but worth it. Food was good. Only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because they got my order wrong. Got potatoes instead of the side of pancakes I ordered. Potatoes were good though. read more

Delicious! Had the paniolo loco Moco and shared macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup. Worth it. And I love breakfast.

My fiancé and I live on Oahu and we LOVE eggs 'n things! We got so excited to have a day together visiting in Waikiki playong tourist for the day. We got on the waitlist at 7:20 and knew it would be a wait (it normally is). We were seated at 8:20 and placed our order immediately! We sat at the bench wall and everyone around us was seated after us by about 5-10 minutes. They all got their food before us and it looked delicious don't get me wrong. We started to look around worried because where in the world was our food. Finally at 8:50 we got it after our waiter Nolan came over and apologized for the wait. My fiancé's crab cake benedict was very cold and the yolk wasn't runny at all and the potatoes were rock hard. My veggie omelette didn't include any of the veggies I picked. We left after about 10 minutes of eating because we simply couldn't enjoy the food and nobody wants a cold Benedict. Thoroughly disappointed because we do love eggs n' things and rave about it to our family when they visit but I can't rave about this if I simply had a bad experience and did not enjoy it. read more

We waiting a bit before being able to find a seat, but it was worth it! Big portion (too much for me), the pancakes are really good! The whipped cream is extremely good tasting... I also liked the coffee! read more

Two words: PAPER PLATES! This was my first time experiencing Eggs N' Things and honestly, I had high expectations due to the amount of people waiting in line [and for so long too!]. I was expecting- real plates, silverware, bigger proportions, and amazing breakfast! My boyfriend woke me up to have breakfast with him and I really didn't mind waiting for 20 minutes since I was still asleep. After the whole process of wait in line, pick out your breakfast, pay and wait again to be seated-You will start to notice why there's a line and how tiny this place really is. You're only lucky if you get to sit in a booth over looking the beautiful ocean across the street. Unfortunately, we had to share our "booth" with another couple. They'll give you this buzzer thing to tell you that your food is ready. Oh, and you have to get your own drinks. Boohoo. At least, there was someone to bring your food to the table with a smile. [so, great job for that!] Okay, so! FOOD: He asked for medium rare for his NY steak and got the steak well done plus a bunch of fat overpopulating the steak.. Another thing about the steak was that it didn't have much of a flavor to it. Just bland. The whole thing was just mediocre. Pancakes- It's alright. My boyfriend make better tasting pancakes than this. Eggs were a bit small. I don't really see the price matching the food. Oh and yes, the PAPER PLATES! and plastic utensils. I was turned off at paper plates... That's a lot of people + a lot of paper plates = a waste. I would understand if this was one of those food truck, or other takeout food places but still, really? Paper plates? Plastic utensils that you cannot even cut very well into the fatty steak. STAFF: You're all great with all those smiles. Sadly, I think I won't return to this place nor recommend it to anyone else until this place have some sort of standard in their food presentation.... on actual plates. read more

Absolutely delicious food and a great selection. My only hangup is that it is rather pricey for breakfast food, but for what you get and it being right on Waikiki Beach, it's worth it, for sure. I suggest the "Bacon, Potato, and Cheese Omelette" with pancakes, drizzled with that sweet sweet coconut syrup. read more

The customer service is very bad. The guy at the door has that "Are you idiot? Can't you figure this out by yourself?" face. So do the waiter inside of the restaurant, didn't even want to talk to you. read more

Order outside, pay inside, then seated. All is quick even with a longish looking line. Got food within 10 minutes and it is good diner food, just as the ratings suggest. Gladly recommend this restaurant to anybody, good luck trying to find parking though! read more

The food was delicious! I love their pineapple pancakes. The wait was about 45 minutes but worth it. Food is a little pricey but everything in Honolulu is. The staff was friendly. I would recommend this place. Mahalo! read more

Not the healthiest but really tasty. The suggestion of the coconut syrup to top off the chocolate chip waffle was great.

We tried this only because the lines were so long that we thought this must be a fantasy breakfast place. We came at evening time when rush was gone & tried their breakfast - which is served all day. Large portions for the price, but it didn't wow us enough to go back. read more

Perfect stop after swimming at the beach and right across the street. For the family, we ordered spam n eggs, Portuguese sausage, and corned beef hash n eggs. All were delicious. Here's a Tip at this restaurant - FYI, you pay and order before u get seated. read more

Avoid this place, pancakes have no taste, food is extremely oily, food tastes horrible, eat at McDonald's next door, better choice trust me! Lines are long , food is over priced for the quality.Hawaii is known for beaches not for great Food and never for "eggs and things " read more

I would give them - minus stars if I could. HORRIBLE SERVICE, and greasy food. Go to this place only if you want to ruin ur Hawaii experience. read more

We had seen "this brand" in Harajuku Tokyo. That location always had a line, almost exclusively women. By line, were talking at least 30 people waiting but we saw close to 100 on a few occasions. We wondered about it, but didn't have the time to find out. Imagine our surprise when we saw "another" location, right next to our hotel. Turns out, the Japan version is an unlicensed rip-off! Holy moly! We had both varieties of loco moco and the fried rice and eggs. The over easy eggs were prepared with a deftness that would delight that king statue guy across the street. His pose is probably the result of some sort of awesome time traveling paddle board and his resulting "aaaaaauhhh, so delicious" cry that probably caused the formation of the islands in the first place. Its a time paradox, its not supposed to make sense. We went for dinner and want to try breakfast, if we can beat the crowds.... with our time traveling paddle board. staff was awesome friendly and I love the Japanese style ordering system; order, pay, eat and leave! I have to agree with my buddy; disposable plates usually means the food is so awesome they dont need to impress you with cheap silver ware. Unless you're in Canada, in which case run! read more

The food was delicious. I had the blueberry pancakes which offered 5 large pancakes that I could not finish alone. It opens very early which made it an amazing option for myself- I was coming from DC so the time change had affected my schedule. There is limited seating so I suggest getting there early. The line starts on the stairs, you will order at the entrance, pay, then wait in line for a seat, once seated the food will be out shortly. read more

AVOID!!!!! After waiting in line for 40 min we finally ordered, waited another 15 min for a table then another 40 min for our food! People in line after us were getting their food - even people still in line waiting for a table got their food!!!!! The food was not even good - runny eggs, overcooked meat, mushy potatoes, burned coffee. read more

Horrible service, I had to make line and nobody told me I had to order everything by the time I get to the host. You have to pay before you sit down. The food was very greasy!! I wanted to add dessert and had to get up to the register to pay for just that, they have no clue about customer service!! Totally a bad experience! read more

You don't come here for the omelettes (I learned that the hard way) you come here for the Macadamia Nut pancakes smothered in coconut syrup. Oh my word! I now understand why this place is so busy and why the wait is almost an hour at 6am. The restaurant is small and everyone is squished like sardines but it is worth it. The kids loved their banana shakes and all of the pancakes that they ordered. So good! read more

The quality of the food is not worth the 45 minute wait you are likely to wait in. The acai bowl was disappointing, while it was good flavor, the ratio of ingredients were off; too much acai, not enough granola, honey, or fruit on top. Chicken mango sausage had good flavor, but was nothing spectacular. Eggs and potatoes were basic. The French toast was okay; the variety of syrups they have made it a little more exciting. If they ask if you want to sit at the counter, prepare to face the wall. Coffee is pretty awful; tested like a dark, bold roast gone wrong. There's a McDonald's right next door, save your time and money and go there: egg McMuffin and hash brown, and enjoy what Waikiki has to offer. read more

Had the Hawaiian style Loco Moco - awesomely delicious and quick, polite service. The line always looks long, but it moves really quick. Definitely recommend. read more

The long line in front of this restaurant caught our attention, thinking that this has to be something good for people to line for. So we decided to come here the following morning right when they opened at 6am. The morning of, I looked this up on yelp and saw that there were actually 2 locations, which had pretty much opposite reviews. But since we were hungry and this is the closest to us we just went here. When we got here the line was already starting to form. Now here are the reasons I'm giving 2 stars: - there was a girl who was taking orders right before entering the restaurant. She was getting inpatient and frustrated with the non-English speaking Japanese family in front if us. She treated different customer with different attitude. - had to pay before being seated. Even a tip was suggested upon payment. A little annoying because if we wanted anything else we had to go back to the cashier, tell them what we want and then make another payment - disposable utensils, plates and cups make it look very cheap, when though the price wasn't. - found out that the reason the line was so long was because the seating availability was limited. Small space. - on the plus side, the food was edible and the view was great. I recommend Mac 24/7 at the Hilton which we tried the morning before. Better service, better food - similar prices. There is nothing special/authentic about this Eggs n things; don't waste your time and money here. read more

Horrible service! I never write poor reviews, I just don't return but this was too horrible to let slide. After convincing friends to eat here, we waited patiently for exactly 1 hr. Staff downstairs at checkin were friendly and apologetic for long wait as we could see empty tables upstairs. Finally we get seated, my friend orders the special of the day steak omelet and we order off the menu. We get our meal, and the friend who i convinced it was good, never got his meal. We asked what was happening - the waiter said "my bad". We finished eating and still no meal. It still being worked on - by then my friend just cancels it. I didn't get really upset until management said we didn't charge for the special...what! We never got it! The icing on the cake - fellow waiter said have some compassion. I never made a scene at the table, and can't blame our waitress as she seemed sorry as she was in training, but it was management and staff who riled me up making excuses. I just wanted them to acknowledge a wrong was done and that I was embarrassed that I convinced my friends to eat there and this is how they treated us. Oh yeah, they comp'd the coffee - wow! No Aloha! Can't recommend - besides the wait, and poor service, the food does not meet hype. read more

Gross, not worth the wait. Ordered the daily special: Omelet couldn't eat it, didn't look appetizing at all. Too pricey for eating breakfast on a paper plate with plastic utencils. Had to sneak my coffee in because there was a sign that said no outside food or drink allowed, I get it but I had just purchased my coffee on the walk to the restaurant. One thing that bothered me was how sticky the table was when I sat down, I had to ask them to wipe it down; didn't make a difference it was still sticky couldn't wait to get out before I got sick. read more

My husband and I were honeymooning in Waikiki and walked by this place a few times. Every time we saw it, there was a long line to get in and we figured the food must be great if crowds of people are willing to wait to eat. So we gave it a shot. We waited in line for about 20-30 minutes. When we reached the top, the man explained that we were supposed to order right then, and then we would pay, and then get seated. It was different, but hey sometimes different is okay. After we paid for our food, I noticed that there was a booth by the window where the people seemed to be almost done eating. I asked if we could have a booth, and the waiter said there weren't any available. I said, "That's okay, we can wait a little longer." He gave me an unpleasant look, and then had us stand to the side and started seating other people and said, "Maybe." His whole demeanor was really rude towards us. After about ten minutes, I saw the people in the booth get up to leave. I thought we were finally going to be seated, but then the waiter says to me, "I'm sorry. You can't sit at the booth. They're for people who have more than two people eating." Again, he said it rudely, with no smile or any kind of apologetic tone in his voice. We would have left but we had already paid and were starving. So then the guy proceeds to seat us at a small table with uncomfortable chairs, with another couple at the same table, which was awkward -- especially because of the fact that they were Japanese tourists who spoke to each other in Japanese the whole time they were seated next to us. Kind of hard to have a conversation with someone when that is going on. I was confused as to why we wouldn't be able to have our own table and had to share with strangers. Then I happened to look over at the booth that I had requested earlier and saw that only two people were seated there. WTF?! The waiter came over to take our drink order, but informed us that certain drinks we had to pay extra for. What?? We waited a while for our food to come. When it did come, they were served on paper plates and we were given plastic silverware. I ordered spam and eggs and macadamia nut pancakes. The spam and eggs were super greasy. The pancakes the coconut syrup were tasty -- but very rich and sweet and I couldn't finish them. The restaurant is small, has people packed in like sardines, and has a lot of open windows. If there was an A/C, we sure didn't feel it. It was really humid and stuffy in there. This place is NOT worth the price and has bad customer service. read more

For a while, people have been talking about this place so being my birthday and Mothers Day.. My husband took me here, per my request. When we got there, the line was pretty long. I'd say we waited about 30 minutes. I figured that was a good thing. My husband and I, eating with our eyes, ordered the Hawaiian Loco Moco, Macadamia Nut Pancakes, and Eggs Benedict. I'd have to say the Loco Moco was pretty good, but the patty was pretty small as well as the egg. We got the regular Eggs Benedict. There was also Crab Cake Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce was... Gross. They poured it all over that I had to ask for a separate plate just to put the extra sauce on the side. I got potatoes with it, and only ate a few as they were drenched in the sauce. The egg, unfortunately, was very small. I was confused? I couldn't stand the sauce and the amount of sauce that I only ate one. (They came with two) The Macadamia Nuts Pancakes were... Hard. We had to use a knife to cut it. They told us it was fluffy and very tasteful, which they weren't. The Macadamia nuts were good. The Guava syrup didn't have that much taste. Honestly, we didn't try the coconut syrup. We kind of were over it by then. I gave it two stars as the servers were nice and the Loco Moco was good. Pretty disappointed and won't be going back. read more
