It was alright. I can make a French toast better than what we got served. The French toast was basic, and the fruit toppings were not fresh (something like this should be stated in the menu). My El Rancho was mediocre. And finally, the cleanliness. The booth was falling apart and sticky. *I ran my fingers across a deco and it was dusty, I almost walked out, but decided to give this place a chance. In conclusion . . I wasted my time and money. Had a great breakfast! They serve my corn beef hash and eggs, home potatoes my favorite. Everyone was very attentive with guest! And they are xovid compliant. I ordered an omelet and the food tasted really good. Nice and warm and a great portion too. The area was well kept and clean. The staff were extremely nice to everyone. I go and observe closely. I did enjoy breakfast there. The only bad thing I would say is the serve I had. She never came back after bringing my food to check up on me. That would be the only flaw I would have to say about it. Maybe I just sat in the wrong area because the other servers were all over the place. I think I would return again and sit in another area and hopefully I would get a better server. Before we get into this, i'd like for y'all to REALLY observe the environment you are in when you are going out and about to make a review. There were 3 (three) people working and there are 8 tables occupied. The number of customers at the table doesn't matter because there was one worker cooking and two workers serving and bussing, all while trying to greet new customers. In case you forgot, we are in a pandemic and everyone is struggling. They can't answer the phone (which they did every time I heard it ring during my visit) as fast as you'd like because this place is very popular and for a good reason. Yes there was a wait, but that's what happens when you put your meal into someone else's hands. These workers were very efficient and polite, they worked well together and I never felt like they were rushed or that they were rushing me. Our food arrived as soon as it could and all i could think was wow. It was exactly what i was wanting, it smelled so good and looked like something i could make at home but had the luxury of getting at my convenience without having to lift a finger. I got the belgian waffle combo with bacon (it comes with 2 pieces) and eggs over medium. I make THE best scrambled eggs so i never order them and i can't quite nail the over medium eggs so i let them do it for me and they did it well. The perfect consistency of egg yolk and completely cooked egg whites without that distinct over cooked metallic egg flavor. My partner got the egg white special and it was loaded with veggies and cleaned his plate so i know he enjoyed it. I know i'll be coming back and i think today they had an all-star team, but sometimes there's going to be new workers training, sometimes they're going to have an off day. We are all human and have a little compassion before you start calling people lazy for not working the way that you want. If you do choose to come back again, maybe you should ask for an application as well to help them out and so you can understand what it's like to work in food service, with rude people, during a pandemic that people keep seeming to think doesn't exist or is over. Wear your mask, stand outside in the doorway where it says to wait, they'll see you, and just be patient. The bathrooms are open to so you can wash your hands to kill time. I do not know the area so I had to rely on fellow yelpers.....so we ended up here after arriving back from a cruise to wait out morning traffic. Was greeted by the delightful Shannon and had coffee and my phone charging behind the counter in less than five minutes I ordered the Baja Omelette-no it came with at least a half an avocado and a healthy dollop of sour cream. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My hubby had the Southwest omelette. Both agree that the portions are hearty, really good thick sourdough toast with fried potatoes that had that nice crisp on it that we like. Clearly lots of regulars and that is always a good sign! If you need to find a good waffle In Long Beach, I highly recommend eggs ect. Today I went with the Belgium waffle with scrambled eggs and sausage. As though the sausages wasn't the best due to them being a bit skimpy I really appreciated how Delicious the waffle was. It was just the right amount of fluffiness! We came here for my sister's 32 birthday breakfast. The wait was long because we had a party of 6. What was upsetting is that multiple parties of 2 and 3 went before us even though we were there first. They could've pushed tables together. We were getting hangry at this point. Finally, after a little over an hour got seated. Took another 10 minutes to actually place in our orders. We were all ready to order from the get go, we were so hungry while waiting to be seated we looked at a menu before hand. We all ordered different things, baja omelette, steak omelette, hotcakes special, etc, etc. We all thought our omelettes lacked flavor, the steak to my omelette was absolutely flavorless and chewy, actually everything lacked flavor, except for the house potatoes. We loved the house potatoes! The prices are a little expensive considering 1 pancake is $4. An orange juice not freshly squeezed was $4. The bill for the 6 of us came out to about $95 plus tip. We came on a Sunday morning. They are now Cash only which is pain in the neck already. We waited at the little table and were seated promptly. . Slightly odd that tables are in the sun with no option for shade but its ok. Within moments of being seated, an employee walked over and said.. "excuse me.. do you have a mask?" myself and my child were appropriately masked.. The other person in our party had one of those neck gaiter things and it doesn't fit well. He made his adjustments and his choice regarding his neck gaiter. I asked the staff for a better mask, since I can see the issue with this gaiter continuing to fall. The staff member paused and asked for our drink order which we provided. Had she just brought drinks this whole situation wouldn't have been necessary however Less than a minute later a woman comes out. She raises her voice and in a volatile condescending manner says "put your mask on.". I am more than annoyed as I directly observe multiple patrons not masked. . . and somehow we are the target of this 2 times in less than 5 minutes. The drinks we ordered? not in her hand.. the mask i asked for? not in her hand either. She came over JUST with the intention of harassing us. It ALREADY was unnecessary. So I said. . ya know.. can you and your staff just please be nice?" Because the attitude.. the rudeness. All ya gotta do is say please. Communication 101. The child in our party... communicates better and more respectfully than she does AND she knows her manners. her reply to my question was to begin to berate us and state "No.. I dont have to " When asked to say please. She began to lecture us about how her life is so difficult because she has to wear a mask for 9 hours. But.. wasnt this whole outdoor dining thing shut down for MONTHS?!.Cry me a river, Ms. Pretension. .. its not even about you as an employee and or what you want to do... its not about the total inconvenience of how terrible your life is that for 9 hours ( restaurant aint even open that long, sis) you have to wear a surgical mask. The audacity. The pure unmitigated gall. .. She started lecturing me that I needed to keep my mask on... which video clearly shows it was I also had a mask on the entire time. I advise her that my mask WAS on and she just needed to be nice. She started talking about me to whomever was on the phone because she is the complete embodiment of professionalism. I ALSO advised her that YES she DOES have to show manners and be nice because that's appropriate customer service.. and if you want your "private business" to make a profit.. you treat people with respect. Is so incredibly simple. She.. continued to argue .. I am ashamed of her behavior and how it negatively reflects small businesses. We try to spend our hard earned money at small businesses to help support them , it must have been tough to be closed for so much time during the pandemic. .. but all of these concepts are lost on Shannon. She MAY be acting out because she just wants to return to unemployment I'm not terribly sure. I just know a restaurant we have been to for years is now dead to us.. because when ownership and management changed they forgot that customer service is key to making a business successful. Today I went to Eggs Etc for breakfast with friends of mine who's been coming here for years & we experienced a very volatile/maybe racist manager. I heard great things about the food & the service but i will never come here ever again. As soon as we walked in, the manager barked at us to get our temps read before we were seated understandable due to the nature of things. Then she continued to lecture us about a table we were standing near by that was actually away from all the customers for social distancing. She then stomped away & didn't seat us. She was making a scene & kept yelling "This is not a discussion, when we asked her why she was angry?" We would have left but our other friend was already on his way. The food is great and comes in giant portions, you definitely won't leave hungry! They offer just about every breakfast food you can think of, plus burgers and sandwiches if you're in a lunch mood. It is s small restaurant so don't show up with a large party on a weekend and expect to be seated right away (as some other reviewers have complained about); as a responsible adult I know that I need to go somewhere that takes reservations if I have a big group! The iced coffee is also good, they make it ahead of time and refrigerate it like you're supposed to (some lesser restaurants will claim they have iced coffee, but really they just put hot coffee over ice, producing a watery cup of garbage). I have yearned to go back, remembering my experience as a young man, just moving into my first apartment and walking up to a restaurant to eat breakfast. I was alone-- and nervous to say the least. I asked for coffee, cinnamon coffee- seemingly unheard of at the time----- it was fantastic. I ordered an omelet, it was so good. I can't remember the waiter, but she seemed pleasant. This cute little breakfast joint is located just off the corner of Redondo and 6th St. This is one of the many breakfast place in the area we enjoy walking to. For those driving here parking is off street. This place is usually packed with at least a 15 minutes wait. There is indoor and outdoor seatings. We prefer outdoor on the patio so we can enjoy the sun while getting our Vitamin D with breakfast (^_~) The service here is really friendly. The food is great! I've had the Baja omlette, Chicken fried steak with biscuit and gravy, Sausage scramble, chocolate chip, blueberry and banana pancakes, vegetarian chorizo, hobo omlette and Chili Omlette all in which were flavorful. My babies often get pancakes or share a sausages scrambles. (^_^) We have yet to have a plate that disappointed us. ALL in all this is a clean, cozy and yummy place to have breakfast. Passing by this place numerous times on the way to MVP Grill, me and the office lunch bunch decided to swing by here one Saturday during our lunch break. One of the guys had been there before with his lady, and mentioned their food was good and worthy of a trial. Despite the name...I'm not much of an egg person...I was pleasantly surprised with Eggs Etc. A fairly small place, Eggs Etc. is on a corner adjacent from an Albertson's supermarket, where we ended up parking; FYI, Eggs Etc.'s lot is tiny. Walking up, we could see a a big crowd in line ahead of us, and we momentarily thought about going somewhere else (mmmm....George Foreman from MVP's). But we figured we're here, it's Saturday, we're out of the office, so let's put our names in and wait for a little bit. After about fifteen minutes of enjoying the human parade that is Long Beach, our name was called, and we went on inside, settling in at one of the cozy booths. Like the name suggests, they're big on egg dishes, specifically ones you'd have at breakfast - eggs benedict, omelets, and so on. In fact, I think I saw that giant egg council egg skulking around the kitchen area. Don't think I didn't see you fool, you owe me $20. Coming out of beatdown mode, I scan the menu some more, and decide to go with an omelet called "Popeye's Favorite", with a side of brown rice instead of home fries. And not to make everyone think I'm totally health-conscious, biscuits and gravy on the side, instead of toast. Now despite me not being an egg person, I will enjoy an omelet every once in awhile, as long as it's fluffy and loaded with goods, and doesn't have an "eggy" taste. I'm happy to report that my omelet named after a scrappy little sailor with a severe case of gigantism and an affinity for anorexic women didn't disappoint. The eggs were light and fluffy, and the insides were packed with spinach, jack cheese, onion, and bacon, all cooked just right, and melting all together in one big green gob of goodness. The jack cheese was smoother than Billy Dee, and when you throw in those smoky bits of crispy bacon, watch out. Paul E was digging this omelet, especially with a few drops of Tapatio to give it some kick. The brown rice on the side was just your standard steamed brown rice, and was good on its own, or with a couple of drops of that Tapatio mixed in. As for the biscuits and gravy, that was my only disappointment. The gravy was more like a generic gravy, with a couple of bits of meat (not sure if was sausage) mixed in. The biscuits were so-so, but the main gripe was that they were a bit too overcooked on their bottom. I ate most of one of the biscuits and some of the gravy, but figure eh, I've already put my cholesterol into the stratosphere enough for the day, I need to back off. Mark the date - Paul E shows some self-control. At the end of the meal, the general consensus around the table was that the food was good. I ordered something simple, a cup of coffee, 2 pancakes, 2 eggs s/s up, and sausage links which didn't take long. The place was not very crowded for a late breakfast on Grand Prix Sunday. But the servers were running around like there was an hour wait, dumping plates off, dropping off coffee cups without eye contact, flinging the check at me. The waitress even brought me bacon instead of sausage like she was on autopilot to order the default bacon. And how dare you serve me coffee without any octane to it! You're competing with Starbucks down the street and the Potholder which practically serves crack in their brew! Step it up!! And my sausage? Two links each the size of a Crayon? Gimme a fuckin break! Size matters in this sausage, too! Presentation overall was just so irreverent. Yes, my pancakes lacked seriousness. They were just these 2 sloppy circles of unappetizing goo that I had no desire to devour. Gawd, if a restaurant is supposed to be revered for its breakfast, it needs to represent. And for my last bit of ranting, Eggs Etc needs to clean their dingey curtains, sweep up the crap all over the floor, and replace the nasty carpet runners lining the center walkway of the restaurant. Is this their way of saying 'welcome'? Don't let the innocence of the homely patio lure you into this den of filth and second-rate sustenance.
