This is is ok. I would say the location is nice with two front sides with one facing the main street and one facing the plaza. I would recommend parking in the back, facing the plaza for the parking. I like the comfy red retro home style that brings a great vibe. The sandwiches were not what we expected as we got roast beef with cheddar and creamy Caesar. I was a bit disappointed with the medium/small portions for the price and feel like I could've gotten it at deli delicious. The sandwiches are something you can make better at home, they gave more Caesar sauce than chicken and was in a few bites soggy bread with vegetables. The roast beef was better but with an overwhelming amount of mustard to enjoy which also made the bread soggy upon eating it as soon as we got it. The service was not as welcoming for the look and feel of the location. They were cold and frustrated when I asked questions. It also took 20 minutes for two sandwiches with one being cold and not heated. They were kinder to the regulars but cold to new customers which felt odd and exclusive. I wouldn't recommend this location with soggy bread and slow service.

I love coming to support small business like this one. Everything I order from here is always fresh, delicious and ready for pick up when ordering online. Customer service is great. Greeted as soon as I walked in. Ordering is easy and fast. It's a small little cafe. It feels like home.

Bagel the size of a small side of cream cheese :/

**1/5 stars - Disappointing Experience at "Rise & Shine Bagels" I was super excited to try after being new to the neighborhood and seeing the great reviews however I stopped by yesterday for a quick breakfast and was thoroughly unimpressed. I ordered a breakfast bagel on an everything bagel Unfortunately, what I got was a tiny excuse for a bagel that barely filled half of my hand. Customer service was subpar. When I called to ask why a $10 bagel was this small they were very rude. I would not make the effort to try Cafe Lorel there are much better bagel places in Lb!!

Cafe Lorel in the Zaferia neighborhood of Long Beach is a cozy, comfy little cafe serving up sandwiches, soups, pastries, coffee, lattes, smoothies and more. I've been there before for their coffee and pastries, but I decided to have some lunch on my most recent visit. I had the Chicken Avocado Sandwich along with a cup of their Roasted Poblano Chowder; which is one of their rotating daily soups. The sandwich comes with tasty slices of chicken, honey mustard, tomato, cucumber, and avocado on your choice of bread (I went with Wheat). You can add bacon for an additional charge, but bacon is worth it, right?! Next time your looking for an off-the-beaten-path spot to eat, go show some love to Cafe Lorel. They're loved by the locals in the neighborhood for good reason!

We were heading out of town on a Monday morning and super wanted a good Vietnamese Coffee. Unfortunately, a well-known donut shop close-by is closed on Mondays so we went ahead & tried this place. We're happy we did because the coffee was delicious. Perfectly sweet. So check them out & try their other offerings...all kinds of coffees and breakfast foods.

Lorel' famous cookie and Vanilla Latte with almond milk!

Why is this place not open on Sunday!?!?!?

Well we started opening on Saturdays after they extended out streets for dining outside and it’s been a challenge getting people to know that I am open. Once things pick up on Saturdays I may consider Sundays. Thank you for your interest Lorella

A very welcoming vibe upon entry, we were greeted by a friendly couple who answered our questions about popular drink flavors. We decided to go with a Hot Cinnamon Dulce Latte and an Iced Blueberry Lavender Latte. While waiting, there were plenty of chairs, tables, a comfy couch and even a bar area to sit and relax. Tons of board games, books and wonderfully mellow music helps make the experience feel comforting and inviting. Our drinks were prepared quickly and shouted at the coffee bar for pickup. The presentation was great, but the flavors, out of this world! The Cinnamon Dulce Latte was OUTSTANDING. So good, in fact, that my girlfriend stole it from me! Not to worry, her Blueberry Lavender Latte was also top-notch, with a smooth, not-to-sweet flavor combination. Friendly staff (which comes with occasional karaoke renditions from the Bluetooth speakers), a chill vibe and outstanding drinks make this a top spot in the area for hardcore coffee lovers. I started with a cup of their beef and barley soup. My wife and I both make this at home from scratch and we're both impressed by theirs. My wife took a taste of mine and instantly ordered her own. Very rich and flavorful. I kept looking at photos of their take on chicken and waffles and knew I had to try it. Seriously epic and was good as it looked. They coated the chicken in a chili rub that gave it a sweet and spicy flavor when paired with their maple syrup. Served on top of a waffle and topped with an egg. I loved it and would probably order again on my next visit. My wife had the American plate which was your classic eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sourdough toast combo. High quality ingredients elevated it beyond your typical diner food. Drinks were great too. I had their house made bloody mary which had a nice kick to it. My wife had their brunch version of a Corpse Reviver cocktail. After our meals were done we finished with an Irish coffee since everyone was ordering them. Perfect service, relaxing atmosphere, and delicious food will definitely have me returning very soon! Parking is free for 2 hours at the nearby garage on 3rd and is a very short walk. The closer garage on Broadway is not free. You can make restaurant reservations on their website but it wasn't needed when we went.

The vibe has shifted toward a more minimalist coffee cafe aesthetic, and the menu has seen a significant overhaul. The Food & Value: I was disappointed to see the old favorites go. The Chicken & Waffles, previously a staple with three wings, has switched to dark meat only (thighs) with zero substitutions. As someone who isn't a fan of dark meat, that was a major letdown. I opted for the Lemon Pancakes ($21), and while the presentation was stunning, the taste was underwhelming and the portion size was surprisingly small--my son's kids' meal actually had more food than mine. The Silver Lining: The service is still the highlight here. Our server, Jorge, was absolutely fantastic--attentive, kind, and professional. The entire staff was very nice, but unfortunately, the price point doesn't quite match the current portion sizes or flavor profile. It's sad to say, but this will likely be our last visit but best wishes to them

With that being said, the question becomes why write a review for a place that not only has street clout but also is a darling for foodies? First, any place or person cannot rely on their august reputation to coast to their golden years, especially in a glut like LA's dining scene. An eatery must always maintain itself with current times and update its eats and design/vibe to remain competitive lest their sheen and luster fade. And thus, I add to the rose petals thrown at this place's feet but also challenge their aesthetic because I found it a bit disjointed--- like a ruby red rose whose stem is made out bark and twig. I had only heard good things about this place and decided to try it with my friend Alexa. She and I had agreed to meet there at 11:00 but I know enough about brunch experiences at celebrated places to go there early or else we might endure a wait that kills a good time. Yes, I would wait for the both us to avoid this possible pitfall. I waited 45 minutes in the line to order. By the time I got close to the register, Alexa arrived. We decided to split the chicken and waffles and also the skillet. She wanted to find a table, but I explained to her that there was a sign I saw as I waited that explained that patrons should not to find their own tables, staff will help them find one. We also got the smashed potatoes and each of us got a coffee. When I was there, waiting, I enjoyed seeing the emblems in red. For instance, I clipped the red door that I passed to get into the joint. It was the threshold that moved me from a line waiter to near customer. And thus this shade of red becomes that much more precious. The rose red was more pronounced and literal in some of the exterior walls of the joint. I clipped a rose silhouette that was precious, and kind of defining of the motif of the place. But it also had mentions of the movie of its a wonderful life. For example, before I got to the cashier I saw the phrase, "every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings." In back of me there were several photos from the film. Now, I have never seen the flick so perhaps roses are predominant in the movie. One of the staff members said that Zuzu was the dog in the film. To make it abundantly clear, I am not sure how red roses connect to a Yuletide favorite. Perhaps the answer lies in the film. But for me on this day, the two primary anchors of design were in competition and not not in cohesion. Perhaps, if the red roses were winter blue the connecting tissue would be easier to understand. The food was strong and easy to enjoy. What surprised me is that I expected to enjoy the waffle and chicken plate more than than skillet but I enjoyed the latter more. The skillet had those fluffy eggs that are made with milk or cream or bliss from a bovine. Now true, there is not much complexity in the dish, but the dish was something basic done extremely well, which is a prize to the patrons. I guess atop of all I could write would be that the skillet had familiar flavors- like cheese, and sausage, and garnish- but elevated to delicious comfort. The waffle and chicken plate was made scrumptious by the maple butter. By the time I got to the chicken and waffle the chicken had lost its fried crisp. The flavor of the batter was there 1000% but without the fried taste the chicken suffered. It was my fault. I did not wait for my food, my food waited for me and in that span of time it had lost its umph! like many do when they wait too long for someone they anticipate. The mashed potatoes were also an excellent bite. Again, familiar, not innovative, but a strong showing of a classic. I particularly loved the well balanced execution of fluff inside and the crisp of the potatoe outside. The smash in this plate was a solid yum. Alexa and I sat outside, right next to the patio, and enjoyed all of the dishes to a good extent. This place definetely offers great classics, with some modern touches. It is an easy answer to where should we go to brunch on a lazy Sunday when you have time to spare.

Bristy, our server, thoroughly explained the details of certain dishes such as the Mac & Cheetos. She also checked in on our table throughout the meal and came around often to refill our water. As for the food itself, it was very delicious. My favorite dish was the artichokes. They had a somewhat smoky flavor and the outermost leaves were crunchy and a nice contrast to the soft inside of the artichokes. They were also served in a tangy sauce that complimented the vegetable well. My friend's favorite item was the macaroni and cheese. It was chewy and creamy, and the pasta, which Bristy informed us was made in-house, was what my friend thought elevated the dish because it was a nice texture. We additionally ordered the gumbo which was also tasty but not as yummy as the other two dishes that we ordered. It is not a spicy dish if one is concerned about spice level. As for the ambiance of the restaurant, we enjoyed how the atmosphere felt casual and almost like you were sitting in somebody's house (the wallpaper and interior design is pretty) while still maintaining an elegant aesthetic design. If I was in the area, I would return to The Attic for dinner. My friend and I had a very welcoming and positive experience in terms of the service and food respectively at this establishment.

There is inside seating what looks like a converted house? There is outside seating at tables or at the bar. The menu was interesting which had a theme of shrimp; there was eggs Benedict with shrimp, but not an item to order a regular one without it? Sure maybe could have ordered and asked without shrimp but pay the same price? Pass. Ok when I called they mentioned they serve brunch until 3? 3:30 I can't remember. The server mentioned they serve the brunch all day? Either way when I got to ordering this month on the menu it highlighted the shrimp po boy. I tried to order and nope, out. How can you be out of the item highlighted as the special in the middle of the day? When the place is not packed? I tried to order the lobster roll and again, out. I was tempted to order their short rib poutine since in theory it sounded good, but at this point I tried something simple I would hope they have in the kitchen chicken and waffles. The plate came and it looks good. If you look at the picture at the bottom of the chicken you can see a dark something. As I lift my chicken I found a huge burnt piece of breading pictured next. On top of the chicken is green onion I think? Who eats that with chicken and waffles? If I am wrong, a garnish is totally unnecessary for this dish. The chicken was moist. There are spices in the flour breading I can see but hard to taste what it is. The waffle is a hard pass for me. The waffle was crispy which is good, but also thin and dry and I couldn't taste any sweetness until I put maple syrup on it. The syrup came out warm which was nice. It's clear watching the people at the bar this is a local hangout. The chicken and waffles were $19 which if I was in the bay I think it's about right, but I think a little high considering the level of food I got. Supposedly this place is packed specifically on Sundays. The server doesn't know why? I'm not interested to even try to come back for a second chance and just be told sold out of the menu.
