We use to frequent this place as is it is in a convenient location with a cute outside patio and food was always good. Something about it isn't the same anymore. :( For the first time, everything looked generic and basic. It use to be presentable and look fresh. Both my husband and I agree that the food is just not the same. Luckily the granola pancakes which have blueberries, almonds, granola and banana were very good. I'm not much of a breakfast person so this place already has a downside because they sell basic breakfast items and only basic breakfast items. They like to make them a little unique but nothing unheard of. The food is cooked fine but often times comes out to oily for my taste. The California potatoes are good and all you need to do it add a couple eggs to make a breakfast for 2. Don't order the coffee though. Its some of the worst tasting coffee around. I live across the street from here and I would rather walk to 7-eleven, one of the doughnut stores, starbucks or even make the coffee at home. It tastes like its a poorly roasted coffee bean that was brewed with water that was to hot making it bitter and disgusting. I drink my coffee black so I'm not sure if your cream and sugar will make a diffrence. read more

My first time visiting an I am not disappointed. The restaurant was cute and clean, the food was tasty, and the staff were helpful and polite. The location was surprisingly serene being on a main street. Patio was clean and well lit with sunshine, yet cool with the shade covers and not many bugs bothering. Not really any cars loudly driving by. Rather, their passing added to the soft sounds of the beach down the road. Beautiful Saturday afternoon. It was about at 20 min wait for the food, which was worth it. Ordering one plate with the steak omlette and skillet fried potatoes, and another with the egg white scramble and granola pancake, I became curious with the presentation results. I was taken aback by not only how pretty the food was plated, but also how well everything was cooked. Eggs were warm and soft, rice was perfectly steamed, meat was thoroughly cooked and tender, and pancakes were a large and fluffy treat. Though the eggs had a mild or no season, the table provided S&P and sauces to help enhance to my taste. The blueberry banana granola pancake I enjoyed the most. It was sweet due to the griddle-caramalized fruit, and crisp on the outside with the granola. This was a suggestion from my waiter and he gets bonus points for it. My waiter also checked in several times, and other wait staff popped around every so often too. This seems like a friendly environment with a great team of employees. 10/10 recommend. read more

I met up here with a friend for a weekday breakfast. I was greeted right away and had the option to sit inside or outside. (I chose inside since there was plenty of seating.) The restaurant is really cute with very kitschy decor all over. We looked over the specials and my friend decided on the Pancake special with a side of eggs and bacon and I ordered the Popeyes Omelette with a side of home fries and biscuit and gravy. The food came out hot and fast and everything looked great. The pancakes are huge and very filling. My omelette tasted amazing, but the biscuits and gravy was extremely dry so I didn't finish that. Waiter could have been a little more attentive with filling our waters, other than that it was a good breakfast. Note: Has small parking lot, but the spaces are so small that you might just consider parking on the street better for you car. read more

They painted the walls some tacky color all the friendly waiting staff that was there for years all went away and the prices all went up. The bathroom is so damn gross now . The food also got worse. I have lived in the Belmont Heights neighborhood of Long Beach for over a year now and have passed by Eggs Etc on multiple occasions. A little put off by the 3.5 star reviews, I never really placed it on my bookmarks. However, I try to give places the benefit of the doubt by reading the good reviews, basically knowing that people are quite particular, especially in perhaps "stuffier" parts of town! My daughter and I walked down to eat lunch/breakfast around noon with ideas in our heads of what we wanted to eat. "Banana pancakes" floated through my mind, while eggs Benedict floated through my daughter's... We were instantly greeted with smiles and welcomes and invited to sit wherever we pleased. We chose the patio, because it was a beautiful day outside! Pssst! Dog owners will be happy to know that this patio is dog friendly! Coffee and waters immediately served we presumed the menu... my daughter ordered the sausage Benedict with home fries that she turned into "spuds" (cheese, sour cream, chives and avocado... yummmmm), and I got the huevos rancheros with regular home fries. The home fries were perfectly cooked, tender inside with crispy edges, and seasoned to perfection. The huevos rancheros were a bit of a disappointment, however. I prefer a crispy tortilla on the bottom, this one was a warmed one, that kind of got soggy on the bottom of the plate. My daughter and I shared some toast with what we believe was a homemade strawberry jam (this was so tasty!), and the coffee was super hot and strong served in large coffee mugs! We went to have breakfast for my favorite nephew's birthday celebration. To start off the servers were friendly and attentive and took our drink order immediately upon sitting us. Our party of 11 took a few minutes to decide on what to order. I personally decided on the Popeye's Favorite omelette and made it a scramble. The scramble plate comes with a choice of two sides, I chose sourdough toast home fries as my two sides. My scramble was delicious and fresh, loaded with cheese, bacon, onions, spinach and mushrooms. The home fries are the superstar of the plates with their delicious crispness. I was only able to finish half as I begged my sister to let me try one of her fluffy banana pancakes. The pancakes are super soft and moist and served with a delicious dollop of butter and a small side of maple syrup. Our servers stayed attentive and kept checking up on us regularly. We arrived pretty late on a Sunday (almost 1pm) and were promptly seated at an available table. My son got really cold under the shade and we requested that we move to the table in the sun when the people left (they were paying their bill). The server said "well as soon as they move I don't know how long they're gonna sit there". We ordered and although the drinks arrived pretty promptly, the food didn't. We did get our table in the sun though so all was well. The food arrived and my eggs benedict was just completely hidden under what was supposedly hollandaise sauce. The texture of the hollandaise was just weird.... it had the consistency of grits. There was an accompanying salsa which proved to be quite tasty and though it's not ordinarily something I'd put on eggs benedict, it went well with this particular one. My friend had the Popeye omelette which was this heaping thing consisting of spinach, bacon and a bunch of other stuff and it was delicious!! Again it came with the salsa and a side of your choice of bread. My little guy had his usual pancakes and bacon. The food was good but nothing spectacular. The service was also average although my friend kept troubling them for things one after another and they were very accomodating. I didn't like the fact that it was right on a huge road with cars whizzing by and god knows how much pollutants have just landed on my eggs benedict. Next time I would probably sit inside and I wouldn't get the eggs benedict but instead, opt for one of their omelettes which look so much better. read more
