My partner and I attend Edgar's Grille for special occasions. It's always a great experience--great food, ambiance, drink selections. They have a very affordable and top-notch happy hour. Wait staff is pleasant, knowledgeable, and creates a comfortable experience. I think it is awesome that the food is prepared by chefs training at Helm's College--their future is bright. A bit pricy but to be expected! read more

When I moved to Augusta I was surprised to find a place like this. I thought this little town would have more low key/ subtle restaurants. But this one definitely stands out. I took my boyfriend here for dinner for his birthday and we had a great experience here. The food was delicious, fresh, and beautiful read more

Terrible experience. Had brunch reservations for 10:45am 8/14/22. Dining area was clean and waitress was great hence the 2 stars. The individuals at the buffet were rude and inconsiderate for no apparent reason. We walk in to where the chafing dishes are located and there are 2 individuals standing behind the table. We walk up, grab a plate and wait patiently for the guy to open up all the chafing dishes. As he was opening them, there were tongs for the sausage links in one of the chafing dishes. I proceed to grab one with the tongs and was immediately scolded by being questioned - "What are you doing? we have to serve you and COVID is real! - you cant be doing that" Then he proceeds to tell me that we were not allowed to grab our own plates in the first place - which we stood there with plates in our hands while he was opening the chafing dishes and never said a word. First off, there is no sign stating anywhere that they are there to serve us or that they will be grabbing our plates. Even a simple hello, we will be serving you today would have sufficed but we did not even get that. Additionally, neither person was wearing a mask and there was a self serve area with cheese and fruits to the right so I guess COVID does not get on cheese and fruits. My wife, who was standing next to me, was completely ignored and the girl tried to serve the lady behind her. Luckily, the lady behind us had sense and stated that my wife was in front of her. This upset her for whatever reason as she made it very obvious that we were wasting her time and decided to stack all of my wife's food on top of each other. I will not be back to that establishment and I will be sure to inform Jim Stiff of our experience. read more

I honestly don't know why this place is not more popular with hundreds of review. Compare to the other downtown and riverwalk places, this place has by far the best food. I got a filet mignon (medium), french fries, and the little cabbage thing. The steak was PERFEEEECTO!! The meat was the highest quality, and the cooked temperature was just perfect! I still think that I am the best steak cook, but I finally found my worthy opponent. I also am a french fries connoisseur, and their french fries deserve a spot in my heart. I saved the best part of the review for the last. If you are a person who gets a steak at a restaurant, you probably don't care about the green things on the plate. Honestly, I was forced to get the little cabbage thing because my fiancé wanted it. I was not gonna touch the little cabbage thing until I saw the expression on my fiancé's face. You know that expression that I had to get a bite because she was not going to tell me it was soooo good, and she will finish it all by herself. When I had a bite, it changed my perception of the little cabbage thing on my plate. I don't know what they did to that little cabbage thing, but it was just our of this world. After the dinner, my fiancé and I actually talked about going back there to just get the little cabbage thing. Of course, I am going to get the steak on the side, but if you ever go, make sure you get that little cabbage thing. And I know it is called a Brussels sprouts, and I honest didn't care to call it my it's proper name until now. read more

I had been to Edgar's before, for dinner, and returned with my mother and daughter. We were expecting a wonderful experience. However, the brunch was the worse we ever had. The food was cold, as if it had come from the freezer and warmed up. The coffee was cold and the juices taste like water. Our server was okay, not very attentive. I would not go back to Edgar's for brunch, maybe dinner. We were very disappointed and we did not get our money's worth. read more

I must say this place is very stylish. I really love the causal yet upscale decor. There isn't a big wait during lunch so you can it's a good place to slide out to during the work day. The service is amazing, once you walk through the door you are greeted with a smile. read more

I spent quite a bit of time on Yelp researching and selecting restaurants for my first visit to Augusta. I picked a family dinner at Edgar's Grille based on other's reviews, and unfortunately I have to report back that we were disappointed with the experience. I didn't find this mentioned in many other reviews, so I'd like to include some information I discovered about Edgar's Grille. The restaurant is named for Edgar Helms, the founder of Goodwill Industries. It is associated with Helms College, which is part of Goodwill Industries and offers career counseling and job placement assistance. A portion of every dollar you spend at Edgar's Grille goes toward education programs, including support for Helms College. In addition, Helms College culinary students receive experiential learning opportunities through service at Edgar's Grille so you very well could meet wonderful Helms College students while dining. I had a reservation through Open Table and my party of 4 showed up exactly on time. There wasn't a hostess at the hostess stand, so we waited several minutes before someone in a chef's coat appeared to welcome my party. She let us know they were still preparing a table and asked us to take a seat in the bar. This is certainly understandable and we wouldn't have minded waiting; however, 20 minutes went by, tables were sitting empty, and guests that came in after us were sat right away. I approached the hostess stand again and went through two additional employees before they were able to figure out how and where to seat us (which ended up being at an already open and prepared table). Our experience didn't get much better after we sat. Our main server left us for long stretches of time. It took a very long time for our entrée order to be taken, we were told we were be served bread in the meantime and didn't receive it until asking (twice) and then getting it after our entrees. We didn't receive our entrees until we had been at the restaurant for almost 2 hours. We witnessed several other tables (parties of 2 and 4) place their orders after us and receive their entrees before we did. The food was very good and we each enjoyed our dish, but waiting that long really soured the experience for us. The highlight of our evening was our server's assistant; he was attentive, extremely polite, and very helpful. I really like the premise of this restaurant and their support and connection with Helms College and the community. But the lack of service we received was certainly disappointing, and I'm not sure I would return again. read more

Making the reservation for Edgar's was fast and easy through Open Table. Upon arrival, the host was very friendly and immediately showed us to our table. Our server was prompt in taking our water and drink order. She was able to answer our questions about the menu and suggest her favorites. My husband's rack of lamb was cooked perfectly and was quite tasty. My salmon was cooked as requested, but may have gotten salted twice in the preparation process. I do like well seasoned food, but this was overly salted. Otherwise the risotto cake and asparagus were great sides. It's a place we'll definitely try again. read more

Food was pretty good but freezing cold inside. Talked with two staff members who were unconcerned. The second one said the temperature was set for the kitchen help! I won't be returning to a restaurant that cares so little for the comfort of their customers. read more

The food was very good here. DO NOT go during the Masters week. They change the menu and jack up the price on everything. Plus, some of the items on the regular menu were not offered during Masters week. Its not a $50+ place for a steak. Its pizza and they serve steak too type of place. Had to request salt and pepper and they were room service salt and pepper shakers. Not worth the price for Masters week, but could be good every other week. read more

My husband and I enjoyed dinner here last night. The food was top notch. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. I can't wait to come back and try the Sunday Brunch. They did bring out the wrong side (I ordered spinach and they brought out squash casserole). They corrected it quickly and left the squash casserole which actually ended up being delicious and I would order it next time! read more

Just found my little gem here in Augusta! First the ambiance was sexy! There was a visual appeal to the contemporary clean lines to the design of this restaurant. Even the exterior set back enough so you have no idea you are right next to the busiest street in Augusta! Next the servers. My first experience was brunch and our waitress was informative and helpful in choosing items off the menu. Also very accommodating to myself and all hose at our table. The next go round, my party sat outside and again not only was the waitress above adequate, the students from the culinary school surprised my party with the an off the menu option which was a great off the menu option. Now the food. My brunch meal I got the eggs Benedict which was visually appetizing along with delectable flavors! As it was my birthday I also got a medley of their desserts with each bite being heavenly! (Thank you Chef John). The next meal was lunch and again the restaurant hit the nail on the head. I ordered that days student concocted drink which was refreshing and succulent. For my meal I got the artichoke and tomato pasta and it was brilliant. Very savory and I will be going back to get it again! Loom forward to going back and trying the pizzas! read more

We were very impressed by the ambiance when we walked in for brunch. Beautifully decorated interior and pleasant porch outside. The food was pretty good -- we were all happy with our meals, creative dishes and good portion sizes for a reasonable price. The service left much to be desired -- we were seated promptly but waited at least 15 min before our server came. Then we waited for about an hour for our food to come. The restaurant was pretty empty but everyone who was seated after us got their food before us. We were seated outside and felt that we were forgotten about. Overall it's a refreshing new place for Augusta, good for date night or night out with friends but probably not kid friendly. Good food but be ready to wait. read more

I finally made it to Edgar's Grille and my first visit was a pleasant visit. From the moment we entered we experienced the professionalism of the staff. Everyone I came in contact with was courteous and professional. The duck I ordered was awesome, it was cooked exacatly as I ordered. Overall I thought the portion size for the side items was small. The open didning room is much quieter than expected. The tables seem close to each other but the conversations from the neighboring tables does not carry. read more

Y'all! What a gem this place is. We ordered the Hoecake. It was topped with fresh peach, cheese and sprouts. Followed by bread with cinnamon butter. My husband ordered the Salmon and truffle fries and I had the best Spinach stuffed chicken with wild mushroom risotto and summer suchatach. Matt, our server, is awesome with great personality and expertise. As an anniversary gift, they gave us a slice of the chocolate gnash cake with vanilla ice cream fit for 2. We would make a trip just to eat here. They use the restaurant as a training ground for hospitality and culinary students from Helms College, located just steps away. Hands down, the best meal we have had! read more

Cool place to either hang at the bar or dine in for a nice dinner. The menu is very diverse with a good selection of dishes. The prices are fair and reasonable. The bar offers a good selection of beers that I never heard of but they tasted good. Some nights they have a live jazz band playing. This place is definitely worth a try. read more

Took my wife and daughter there for Mothers Day Brunch. Very lovely restaurant. Our impression of food left allot to be desired. The grits were sweet, guess were from the south, steak and gravy had tough meat and gravy had a strange taste. My son in law had shrimp and grits but he didn't eat the shrimp. My wife had the eggs Benedict but corn bread and salmon was fair. Service was poor. Maybe refills are extra. The service was European. I hope Edgar's much success . We sure expected more. read more

We ate here to celebrate my brother's medical school white coat ceremony on a Saturday night. It wasn't our first option (we waited too long to make a reservation at the place we originally wanted to eat at), but we were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is trendy, and the service was great. Our waitress was really attentive and sweet as well. I had a Moscow Mule to drink and it was made perfectly! For dinner, I ordered the filet mignon and it was delicious. I ordered it medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly, and the fingerling potatoes that came with it were seasoned well and really yummy. Everyone else in our group really enjoyed their meals as well. For dessert, we shared a crème brûlée and piece of chocolate tart--DO NOT SKIP OUT ON DESSERT!!! The chocolate tart had a Bailey's glaze and it was indescribable. Overall, Edgar's Grille was a very pleasant experience and I would definitely go back. read more

Ok im a bit picky...so bare with me. My husband and I love to date our friends - we don't like date-date them but we make it a point to go out with our friends socially as much as possible and spend quality time with them...and being fancy... So we were originally going to go to la maison and unfortunately every time we plan our friend-date there, they are closed (no seriously - EVER-Y-TI-ME!) So we settled here and by settling I do not mean by deciding. The atmosphere is amazing and really fun. The chairs can be a bit uncomfortable and i believe the back of my legs were permanently branded by the edge of the chair. The wait staff seemed almost oblivious of the fact they had customers. Our waitress was cute but very "McDonalds-esk" with her service. Im sure she wanted to shout back "is that all?" everytime we called her over. I ordered shell pasta with capers (i love those little salty guys). My plate came out and it was like a kindergarten pasta picture because all the pasta was way over cooked and essentially stuck together as if the cook glued them together. i fought through the pasta glue as much as i could and took the rest home for later. My friend ordered the same and hers came out less kindergarten project then mine and she stated that she enjoyed it. I forget what my husband had, he didn't really make any noise while eating it so i assumed he was ok. I asked him if he liked it...and like the cave man he is he grunted and said...."it was edible" I am not so impressed and im sad because this was going to be a location of an event i wanted to hold and well with that performance - i am saying GOODNIGHT to them as a catering or location option. read more

Great atmosphere. Great lamb chops. Pleasure to eat there. Friendly environment. This is a must to go to.

I'm so glad I finally got around to trying this place. I love the whole idea of this restaurant and really wish there were more places like this. I loved the feel of the inside, the bar area and the outdoor seating. We tried it for brunch and there were several things on the menu that caught my eye, which naturally means I must return and try more! I ordered the eggs benedict with crab cakes and while it could have used more hollandaise, the flavor was delicious, so didn't end up asking for extra. It was filling enough that I didn't need a side either. I thought the price was actually pretty average. I will be back! Hoping they keep the outdoor seating open now that the weather is starting to cool down a bit and is more tolerable. read more

We were seated after only a 5 minute wait. The waiter did not come to our table for about 15 minutes. I went to the bar to get my own drink, the rest of our party of 4 had drinks about 35 minutes after sitting down. 1 (soft drink) was wrong & was remade. We had to ask for a bread service, which was again, very slow to arrive after the salads. The noise was very loud, several loud patrons yelling as a chorus. The salads were very good. The entrees as well. I'm not sure if they were short on servers or the cooks, but the service was very slow. I can't recommend this place if you have even a little hearing loss and like hearing your companions converse. read more

Maybe this was a practice brunch? The only hot food was the omelet (because it was cooked to order). Otherwise- mmmm who wants cold bacon, eggs, potatoes? Seating took a longer time than expected. Reservation was for 11:30 and we were seated almost by 11:50. Now excuse me- I need to go somewhere to get coffee, since it's too much to ask for a refill here. read more

All was good until I was about to leave the restaurant. I had the shellfish and grits, my every visit favorite, and it was delicious. But as I was preparing to walk out, I felt something in my mouth. Well...it was a long light colored hair. So disgusting. I have short, tightly coiled hair, so of course it wasnt mine. I can only assume it was in the food or drink and I didnt see it. It may be a long time before I come back to one of my faves. read more

Bottom line: flavorful, perfectly prepared, nicely presented food that is worth the wait. We are new to the area and tried Edgar's on a friend's recommendation. We went in knowing that many of the staff members are students or recent graduates (it was our waitress's first night after graduating from culinary school, and she did a great job). So we budgeted extra time and planned to be patient. We did wait a long time for food and drinks, including water refills, and they were out of bread--the staff were polite and apologetic. But when the food did get there, it was delicious--there were four people in our party (ordering duck, lamb, burger, and the vegetarian dish) and we were all impressed with the food, especially with the seasonings, which the sous chef says are all made in-house (for the burger, for instance, they grind their own meat and prepare a fresh herb and spice blend to mix in). Entrees are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for, including nice presentation. Having just moved from Northern California near Napa, we were pleased with the wine selection. Definitely don't skip dessert. Most are made in-house, and the pastry chef is a cheesecake expert. I ordered a pumpkin bread pudding that is likely seasonal, so you'll want to go get that seven or eight times before it's gone. read more

The service here was extremely slow. We came in and the restaurant was pretty empty but it took at least 15 min before a server even came to greet is or give us water. Our coffee cups were always empty and we had to call the server over for refills and we had been sitting there for 40 min before there was there was any sign of food. When the food came, it was not cooked right at all. We ordered burgers and rib eyes, both medium rare, and they came out well done. Didn't even want to waste any more of my life in this place so didn't bother calling over a manager. Will not becoming here again. read more

I took my Mother out to eat at Edgar's Grill in Augusta, Ga. last night. I dropped my Mom off and saw two gentlemen hurrying to the door to help her with her umbrella and rain coat, and the same courtesy was showe not only to me but everyone who walked in. What a grand surprise for the city of Augusta! I don't beleive there is a restaurant in Augusta that matches the overall dining experience. The staff was perfect and the food, Oh my Gosh! My pork chop was cooked to perfection, and who likes brussels sprouts..well I do now. My Mother had the tenderloin that was so tender you only needed a fork. We tried the salad and soup as well.
