I am going to miss this place! Now if you're reading this review and don't know who I am and/or haven't seen my previous reviews for Bodega then you might be wondering, "what is he talking about?" Let me clarify. Bodega isn't going anywhere, I am. And as I begin the moving process I have created a mental list of places I will miss in the Augusta area. And trust me, I know all the places. Fancy, hole-in-the-wall, no online presence, hyper online presence. I know all about them. And Bodega has consistently been a go-to spot for me over the years. Typically it is a Sunday morning/early afternoon, with a cup of coffee, and about half the time a soft shelled crab sandwich. Every other time, I throw caution to the wind. Could be a biscuit. Could be a pulled pork sandwich or The Lox. Who knows. But here's what I do know. The service, ambiance, and quality of what I order is always always at a level of excellence. And where else can you interact with the furry team member (Ash) as part of the experience? Such a relaxing spot, with the ceiling fans cooling you off (and the table fans keeping flies at bay) and the fountain trickling in the background. This is a nice place for lunch. It has a very nice outside patio area and get busy quickly. The best part is the fact that they are dog friendly !! We like our girl to be with us and this was a nice spot for lunch and our Maggie girl got to enjoy also. We had the grouper sandwich is tasty with a flavorful sauce. Let me start off by saying if you're ever in Augusta, GO TRY THIS PLACE OUT! I came here with some coworkers for a brunch on a Saturday morning, and it wasn't busy compared to other restaurants. We were able to sit wherever, and chose the inside due to the humidity. They have a large variety of wine, menu items, and drinks (both alcoholic and non), and service was amazing! I ended up ordering an iced vanilla latte with almond milk, the basque sandwich with a croissant, and a cup of fruit (total $20). They also have bottomless mimosas for $30. Food didn't take a while, and if you need condiments they will bring it to you in a ramekin. They also have outdoor seating and bar seating. The owner was present when we were there, as well as his dog who just roams around freely. I will say though, if you want the full menu you should go on their website instead of relying on their physical menu. Overall, highly recommend!! read more

When we pulled up for breakfast on a weekend at about 9 a.m., and the parking lot was empty, that should have told us all we needed to know. The food here was horrendous. Our table had 2 chicken biscuits, scrambled eggs, grits, yogurt with "homemade" granola, bacon, and a bagel. The bagel and bacon were the only things that were good. The eggs were not only burnt, but they tasted like someone accidentally spilled the salt shaker in them, I sent them back and didn't wish for new ones. The chicken was dry and tough as a rock, and the grits were average at best. I'm not sure how on earth this place has any good ratings. Our server was wonderful. read more

Went to bodega ultima on a sunday at 12:30 (peak brunch time) and had only a 20 minute wait! we were sat on the patio which had a nice vibe and view. Our waitress was nice and had a cool vibe. They were very busy so it took a while to order and for the food to come... but that's to be expected when somewhere is busy (for those who don't understand that)!!!! When the food came out it was fresh and most of all DELICIOUS!!! i've been here a couple times and each time has been good. only "bad experience" was when i wanted to place a togo order and there was no staff member available and when i found one they were kinda of off-putting to me. On the road again and made the stop for breakfast on the go. This time around was different. The food continues to be fantastic. Today the wait staff was not good. To be honest they all had RBF (Google it), they did not want to be there. It was busy but there were more staff standing around and doing nothing then serving. If we had to rate the staff it be a 1, if that. This feedback is raw to hopefully provide management help for training. PS- what coffee/restaurant runs out of sugar? They had NO sugar at all. I hadn't been here since my last visit to Augusta in 2019. Decided to grab brunch here after a run at the brewery down the road. The outside space is now full of tables and has a tent over it -- I'm sure that's a holdover from Covid but it is nice to have more seating outside. Even though it was hot out the temperature under the awnings was not bad. Pet friendly patio, so getting my dog fix is always fun, too. There was a roaming dog out on the patio, not sure if it was a staff member's, but if I had my dog on a leash out there I would feel uncomfortable with a dog being able to freely walk up in my dog's space with no human to stop it. Very friendly dog, but even still that is not respectful of other dogs' space. I got a mimosa, which was good as it was not just pure orange juice. But I really do hate when people charge you close to $10 for a champagne flute. Their bottomless option is absolutely ridiculous, though - I think you had to have at least 5 or 6 to even get your money's worth. Definitely the worst bottomless drink special I've seen in Georgia or anywhere else. We started with the hummus, which was incredible. It was light and delicious. They didn't proportion out the pita super well with it, but we made it work. Either way, the food is fantastic. I came here specifically because I wanted a healthy breakfast after eating a bunch of military food all week... but it's hard to resist a fried chicken breakfast sandwich lol. Our server was phenomenal, she suggested adding an egg to it... so I got some nutrition on my otherwise not exceedingly healthy sandwich. But it was delicious as expected. My co-worker got the fried chicken lunch sandwich option, which was also good. He was not impressed with the potato salad. read more

We decided to try a new place for breakfast/brunch. The bar is beautiful, with an extensive selection of liquors and wines. We debated sitting there, but it was such a pretty day, so we chose outdoor seating. This is a pet friendly place, so several people were able to bring their dogs. The owner (Cary) has his beautiful, friendly, and well behaved terrier, ASH, who welcomes and greets everyone. The service was prompt and attentive. I ordered the Salmon BLT Bagel with an egg, lox, bacon, tomato, cream cheese, and avocado - DELICIOUS! My friend ordered the Jamon Croissant, which had egg, ham, and provolone. She9 also ordered a side of cheese grits, which was a generous portion - enough for two. With the exception of a few bites shared with Ash, she enjoyed hers! While in Augusta it was worth driving down Wheeler St using directions in Yelp for Bodega Ultima. The restaurant is located in the Surry Center or Promenade and is surrounded by other upper class local businesses. While the ambiance appears peaceful it is still early and the welcome in appears to be sloth. I sat myself and after a 5 minute wait with no greeting I grabbed a menu after watching a wait staff place then on a counter. Shortly after that a bar tender comes out and offers me water. I make my order going to try the Turkey Rueben with the Brava sauce and hope for the best. The exterior of the restaurant is rustic both inside and out layered with thick red brick with 12x12 wooden beamed plastered ceilings. There is framed artwork along each wall signifying a French accent. The bar consist of bold hardwood with steel footrest for weathered soles. The chairs are simple black metal, but not able to match the decor that rest around their competition. As things warmed up they did beyond my expectations. The sandwich was full of flavor. Unlike any other Turkey Rueben I have had before. You can tell that the owner of this establishment is well traveled and that he embraced his abroad experiences and captured them under one roof! It was like an explosion on my tastebuds. Something that I would invite all over again. Everything was cooked and delivered to perfection, seriously. I don't review under false pretenses. I got the impression that along with this sandwich the only thing that can turn it up a notch would be a Bloody Mary. The sauce is made in house and spruced up to be non spice or spicy. I chose to between both flavors. It was served in a chilled glass and garnished with lemon lime, rock salted rim and olives. Flavor- outstanding! I imagined myself being free and in a place that was courageously bliss. There are bottles and bottles of win in the wall imported from around the world. It was mentioned that the owner is a l "Level 2 Som" which speaks volumes. When it was all said and done, I sat down at that bar, in the cold steel chair and rest my arms on the sturdy wooden bar while resting my eyes on the red brick and said to myself, " what a wonderful world" Be good to yourself, eat out more often! read more

The 2 small soft shelled crab were nicely battered and seasoned and out in a brioche bun with side papas (fries). Glad to know that another place offers soft shelled crab. Can't count on my other place that's in Surrey Center. (FMG - Duh!) My friend had the tuna fish croissant. Both were delicious. They have affordable wines by bottle great prices on cocktails! Recent experience! I wanted to try a new place, support local and I decided to drive over here. All Starbucks are closed and I needed a coffee not made from home. I just left this place (July 13, 2024) and it left me with many bad thoughts. When we first got there we were seated promptly which I was very appreciative of. Kudos to the hosting / greeting staff, the decor, and the lattes. That is all sadly that is where it ends. I am more than happy to leave this 1 star review. The issue: We were there for almost an over an hour and eventually deciding to cancel our order. We ordered (BLT, Papas, and Smoked and Fried Chicken Sandwich) As we sat there I watched 4 tables with a party of 4 get seated (2 tables outside and 2 tables inside). Then a couple sat at the bar. These tables and the couple sat after we got there. They all got their food. An hour of being seated there the BLT came out. At this point it was when we flagged our server to let her know. We have watched other tables get their food but a table of 2 still have not gotten all of our food. She did apologize to which we promptly stated do not apologize unless you specifically told the kitchen not to cook our food. I sadly will never return to this place. The climate in there seemed welcoming at first. Then we slowly realized this place is not suited for everyone, especially not us. read more

We went for breakfast and ordered the Jamon Croissant and Smoked and Fried Chicken Biscuit and two lattes. The coffees were really good. I got a Lavender Hazelnut latte which was really good and was not overly floral. My husband got the Jamon croissant. The croissant was a good size, the croissant was flaky and the egg was tasty. Could definitely be a good morning staple. I had the Smoked and Fried chicken biscuit. I didn't really tasty any smokiness in regards to the chicken being smoked but it was definitely spicy. I think next time I would get the sauce on the side. I can't do that spicy early in the morning. The biscuit was good not dry and had the right amount of flakiness. I recently had a nice experience at the Bodega Ultima. My wife and I found it on Yelp and found it interesting. The interior is warm and comfortable. Their outdoor seating is also quite nice. The staff were friendly and attentive. They play music but at a comfortable volume and not at all unnerving. The menu is limited. This is not a place to get a list of gourmet meals. This is a place to go to with a friend or friends for a nice visit including adult beverages, lite food, and pleasant surroundings. It is also a great place to get out alone, read or listen to music, turn off your phone and just relax. Food: My wife had bagel and lox with fruit. She loved it all. I had the chicken biscuit and cheese grits. The chicken was tasty with a tasty sauce. It was flavorful with a bit of sweet heat. I must be honest, the cheese grits were a bit of a disappointment. They weren't at all creamy and had little cheese. Both of which are my preference. That being said, I will not let the cheese grits stop me from returning. I'll just order something else. The Bodega Ultima is a great place to meet and enjoy the company of friends, or just have a relaxing break from life. I highly recommend it if that is your desire. read more

I heard so many good things about this place so I had to try it out. I went with a friend for Sunday Brunch and we received a warm greeting on a very busy Sunday morning. One table was available on their outdoor patio. We sat outside, however later decided it was a bit too chilly. The staff was very understanding when we requested to move inside to the bar. We ordered fried green tomatoes, the chicken sandwich and the fish sandwich. All the food was great, but the fish sandwich was amazing!!! Our mimosas were great as well. I had an extremely stressful experience making a reservation here. I called on a Friday and made a reservation for my party of 20 and left it under my last name. We had an event going on and we had family coming in and needed a nice place to celebrate afterwards. They said, "We can easily do that, we have no other reservations and we will seat you at the front two tables." The date of our event arrives and we have people heading to the restaurant. They inform us over the phone while everyone is on the way that they do not have our reservation, they do not even take reservations and they cannot seat us in any capacity. So now we are scrambling to find another way to feed our guests and overall this is incredibly disappointing. This has put such a bad taste in my mouth for Bodega which is really unfortunate since the other time I had eaten here was decently good but lackluster service that time as well. read more
