My wife and I went to Manuel's for lunch, and it was very easy to get a seat. There was a fair amount of people there, but overall not too crowded. The waitresses were quick with our drinks and taking our orders, and the kitchen had our food ready in around 15 minutes. The food itself was delicious. I ordered the Norwegian Croque, and the smoked salmon was firm and smoky (hence the name). Very delicious. My wife got the Kobe Burger and she loved how savory the meat was. We ordered the Fries and Aioli as an appetizer, and the Aioli sauce was good, but the fries were pretty standard. We finished with the Chocolate Cheesecake, and I would highly recommend it if you love chocolate deserts; very rich. Outdoor seating was quite nice here, and the interior decoration was very beautiful, but the exterior seating had duct tape, and some of the tables looked a bit word down and weathered. The seating looks were all over the place too, with some wood tables, some glass, some metal, didn't really bring together a cohesive decor choice. Cozy cafe with delicious food. Came by for Saturday lunch. Service itself was mixed- when we walked in they asked if we had a reservation and asked if we'd like to sit in or out. Then another staff said if we didn't have a reservation we would need to sit outside. Then the first person said there was a seat available inside and the other person said we needed to finish in 45m because there was a reso coming in...we said OK but it seemed like she really didn't want us there. Our server was actually super kind (the first person) and we liked her. We ordered the French onion soup, special sandwich of the day, and exotic burger with fries. Everything was really good - best french onion soup we've had. My sandwich was delicious with tender chicken and smoky grilled veg. Portions good. Husband enjoyed his burgers, fries were a bit soggy. I was a bit worried about the 45m time limit but each time I checked in they said don't worry about it...an hour passed and we were not kicked out and there was no pressure. The initial encounter in the beginning definitely left a weird impression. We stopped by here on our way home from the beach for Mother's Day! While it was busy, it was a beautiful spot to eat lunch and the food was delicious! It's tucked in an adorable southern neighborhood with outdoor seating that fixes a European feel. My husband and I ordered the gyro and the pita bread was so fresh and the side salads were vibrant and clearly from local sources and house made dressing. My kids ordered the crème brûlée French toast, chicken strips, and grilled cheese, and they all devoured it. We recommend this place to anyone that wants a special brunch spot with fabulous food! I got the fried chicken sandwich but grilled. It came with a huge French bread loaf. I actually thought the blsauce would be interesting but it was too.much - the second half had too much pepper. The Ceasar salad had top much parmesan. The fries I hear had sit out too.long. the other two sandwiches were good and on the small side at least compared to my huge one that I couldn't finish. We were visiting our son who lives in Augusta and he suggested we all go to Manuel's Bread Cafe. He had been there a few days earlier and really liked it. It was super hot that day, 95 degrees so we did reserve for indoor table and we were seated promptly in the nice cool A/C dining room. For appetizers, I had the Asparagus & Potato soup with Creme Fraiche which was delicious . My husband and son shared the Frog Legs appetizer which they enjoyed. I had a nice glass of Chardonnay to accompany my meal. For main course, I had the Boeuf Bourgignon which was delicious! My husband had one of the daily specials, Crispy Crispy flounder which I thought was just okay. For dessert we shared a large piece of strawberry cake which was delicious. We ate here with friends and the food and the service were really good. All four of us loved our meal and our waiter was so nice. We all got different entrees and we all really liked what we got. Crisp skin soft leg and thigh meat topping mixed greens a Dijon forward dressing, cucumber, tomato and awesome and I mean awesome croutons! Listen, we really come here for the dessert and coffee, normally the service is GREAT. Today, we had Jason. Never smiled, he left when we were asking questions about the menu, and acted like he should work at the restaurant Dick's- but even there he's have to engage. He never smiled, acted inconvenienced when I asked for something with my order then never returned. I had to ask another waitress for our ticket and boxes (whose table that ordered hot food and came after us, got their food before us). I saw their waitress come out 3 times in the time I was waiting for Jason. Mind you, there was one other couple out side. Manuel's Bread Cafe is situated in the more upscale and cute part of north Augusta and is one of the most reliable and pleasant places to have brunch, lunch, or dinner in the area. While their indoor seating can get a little cramped, their outdoor seating is fantastic with both umbrellas and fans for those sunny days and heaters for the colder ones. On one frigid morning while we were there they even had some blankets for us to use! Food is fantastic, and my personal favourite is their burger which is an unbeatable deal. Workers are all so nice and very accommodating to people with basically wild toddlers :) This place is expectedly very popular, so walk in seating on a weekend is basically impossible. I thought the GPS took me on a wrong turn. I drove past the stadium, into a residential area and viola!, this oh so very, unpretentious, local area restaurant was sitting on the corner looking ever so attractive. I hurried to get parked. I was so pleased by the atmosphere and couldn't wait to get settled. Once my company and I got settled, outside, we ordered the items mentioned above. While we waited, I noticed how peaceful and quiet the area was. Awwwww, this is going to be a really nice experience. The neighbors that leave near this restaurant are some lucky folks. I ordered the Hawaiian croque. I've never had that sandwich before, so I definitely had to try it. It was good. I think what really did it for me was the fact that the restaurant makes their own bread. Fantastic! The more homemade, the better. My company enjoyed their sandwich too. Extremely disappointed in this place. It is in the quaintest neighborhood in Augusta, a really comfy and cozy location so you'd hope the food would match that. Portions were small, literally everything we ordered needed a drastic amount of salt. The only and I mean only highlights were the fries and sweet tea. Everything else was so lackluster. They are known for their brunch so take that how you may but definitely absolutely do NOT come here for lunch at least. Slow service and bland food. Won't be coming back unfortunately :( read more

The restaurant isn't huge but also has outside seating in nice weather. I had the "crispy crispy flounder" (that was huge) & prepared bone-in & skin on. Had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc (no full bar). It's interesting that drink & dessert menus are on a couple of iPads that must be passed around the restaurant as other diners finish with them. Desserts homemade. Got a tasty slab of coconut cake. I'm just moving back to the area and I decided to try out Manuel's Bread Cafe for lunch since it's a newer restaurant that has opened since I lived here. I had read all of the positive reviews and I know the area in Hammonds Ferry is super cute. Our waitress was very attentive, polite, and helpful. we lived in Aiken for four years and Manuel's was always a favor of ours on Sunday for breakfast. We went back one more time to close out on our house and had dinner instead, and it was phenomenal. My first impression of Manuel's: it's a lovely cafe/restaurant. I enjoyed sitting outside under the shade. The servers are polite and courteous. The basket of bread and butter they brought out was some of the softest bread I've ever had. It was fresh and warm! The food was okay. I wasn't thoroughly impressed but I wasn't disappointed either. The charcuterie board with the smoke salmon was fine but it lacked features of a typical charcuterie board such as some cheese slices, a few baguette, jam, another type of meat, or even a little fruit would have been a nice added touch. Not a boiled egg and chopped purple onions. Overall, I did enjoy my experience. Im excited to come back to explore more of the menu and also try some dessert. read more

The waitress was absolutely phenomenal and we thoroughly enjoyed the service we were provided by her. She was quick, attentive and offered up recommendations and alternatives when we asked. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is not because of her or the ambience in the restaurant. My burgers taste was good but unfortunately I put in an order for a medium rare burger and received a well done burger. It would have been so much better had it was cooked as I liked it but unfortunately they didn't make it how I ordered it. We went to Manuel's bread cafe expecting brunch for a Saturday morning..... well fun fact only brunch on Sunday's which was slightly disappointing like who only has brunch on specific days??? Either way, started off with an iced coffee classic and a sangria. The sangria was mid and expensive. For an appetizer we had the fried ravioli which were amazing!!!! Definitely recommend. Either way, still sad I didn't get brunch but the croque monsieur looked delicious and then I didn't know what it meant to make it a madam which means it added an egg??? That was amazing now I have brunch The side salad was absolutely bomb!!! I'm normally picky about that but it was so fresh and the Dijon dressing was perf. My only complaint besides no brunch was that our food took forever. I know we had a relatively large party (8 people) but still. Overall, pretty good. Ordered frog legs with internets finest recipe tomato mayonnaise . Micro green garnish was the Best part of that. Wife had beef bourguignon. Tasted like "three buck chuck" mixed with a jar of turkey gravy served over a mound of instant flake potatoes with little chunks of frozen pearl onions....couldn't discern any beef....three bites later it turned into red potato soup. The two steaks were VERY poorly cooked overly salty cheap ass cuts of piggly wiggles finest horse meat. Veggies were microwaved perfectly.. HAD TO BUS OUR OWN TABLE AND REMIND STAFF WE HAD ORDERED DESERT... Side note... owner? Manager was sitting at the bar next to a guy who looked like Sammy Hagar puked up jimmy buffet and passed out in a puddle of drool..if I had to guess he was the chief. Ordered local baked cake and coffee to finish. Carrot cake and an amaretto something (green iced ? st patties day?) Staff didn't know if they even had coffee. I have never polished a plate as clean as I did the time I ordered their lemon caper trout salad. I don't remember the exact name but it was something along those lines, haha. Beautifully flavored, balanced sauce with kicks from the capers. Fish was perfectly seared, seasoned, and textured, which was a nice contrast to the crisp greens underneath. Everything else I have gotten here has been phenomenal as well, but I couldn't help shouting out that wonderful salad. Their duck confit is great too, and I was so glad to find somewhere that does it so well in Augusta. I love that they use fun ingredients with their dishes, it makes their menu so exciting. we ordered Steak au poivre for two. It was inedible. the meat was tough and I had to tear through it with the steak knife. After four pieces I gave up. My husband started to choke on a piece of grizzle. He tried to eat more but gave up too. The vegetables were cold. Given two metal plates. They were so cold I think they were in a fridge. maybe they were meant for a dessert. when the waitress came to take the platter away we told her it was inedible and to tell the manager. Great place for Brunch! Not my first experience but it's been a good minute since my last visit. We got here as soon as they opened to beat the crowd. It's a holiday weekend and I know they would have been crowded. We usually sit outside because their outdoor seating is nice. However, it was a bit chilly this morning so we were inside. I ordered a Peach Mimosa. It was ok. For my meal I did an omelette. It was delicious! I usually get French Toast but today I didn't want a lot of carbs. It came with home fries and toast. My husband had the Shrimp and Grits with a croissant. He was not a fan of the shrimp and grits. I wasn't either. We've had our share of various versions of this dish at other restaurants and this was not it! However, the croissant was delicious! Our service was great as usual. We stopped by for an early Saturday breakfast (9am). The cafe itself has a very Parisian cafe feel with a great dog friendly outdoor patio. We were immediately greeted and seated, the waitress was fantastic. I got the goat cheese scramble with a black coffee. The waitress confirmed for us that the goat cheese was pasteurized. I got bacon and home fries as sides. It was an amazing meal, I didn't even need salt, pepper or hot sauce. Even the coffee was great. My wife got the croissant entree. The croissant was super flaky and fresh, and the eggs, bacon, and fruit were delicious. Our dog got a giant dog biscuit and a bowl of water, generously provided by our waitress. The Ruben Sandwich had thinly sliced tender corned beef served with a side salad with balsamic dressing which was very good! I was in town on business and needed some sustenance, so I looked and found this spot. The reviews were good and the menu choices were right up my alley. I ordered the grilled salmon salad and French onion soup. I ordered takeout, so I didn't completely inspect the order before I left. When I returned to my hotel I opened the salad container and it looked delicious. I took one bite and realized they didn't dress the greens nor did they include the dressing. I was a bit bummed by this, but, I ate the salad and enjoyed it without the dressing anyway. The French onion soup was pretty good; however there was simply a piece of partially melted provolone cheese on top of the soup, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but the two errors in my order resulted in the three star review. I will say that the restaurant was quite busy, so it must be a local favorite. We all had drinks and I asked for a slice of the cookie and cream looking cake and asked about a cake which both were displayed indoors one with blue decor. The waitress told me something about what it was called I can't remember, but,when we received the slices( which were a generous slice) the waitress gave 2 extra plates and utensils. I didn't take a picture but they were very pretty and mom halved with the cookie with one of my son and I had half of the blue one. Tasted fresh and like pistachio! My teriyaki sandwich was good can't figure what the purple onion tasted like but the coleslaw look part inside was good.
