I've dined here twice both instances for special occasions. Once last year for my wedding Anniversary and this year for my birthday. I had the exactly experience both times. My first visit the place was beautifully appointed, we were greeted warmly and sat pretty quickly. Our server was lovely. We started with cocktails which were great. As for our meal the food was just lacking, everything was missing flavor. I ate a couple bites but decided early on that it was a miss for me. On my most recent visit I actually ordered the 6oz. Ribeye with whipped potatoes and asparagus (so I thought and to be fair I could be wrong) but came with broccolini instead. I'm not a fan of broccolini and I'm not sure I would have ordered the meal that included it. In total it took about an hour to receive my food I kid you not. I inquired about it a couple times with the bartender who walked back to the kitchen to check. Each time I was assured it was coming. I was served what can only be called chargrilled hotdog buns as I waited. Maybe not actual hotdog buns but looks and texture wise? Hot dog buns lol. Super charred and dry no butter no olive oil just grilled hot dog buns. So bizarre. I think the bartender forgot to put the order in hence the long wait. When it arrived my ribeye had been butterflied to cook quicker (which I can only assume by the appearance). The steak was cooked perfectly, so no complaints there. The meat wasn't particularly seasoned and look people I'm not expecting the stars and the moon, I was starving and I'm a reasonable person so just a pinch of salt and pepper would have done the trick but for $68 I wanted a better meal. The mashed potatoes were seasoned to perfection so I just ate the under seasoned steak with the perfectly seasoned potatoes and made it work (see totally reasonable lol). And that broccolini? Surprising good so no complaints there. All and all there are just better places to dine. Is the place beautiful? Sure but if I go to a restaurant I want the food to be the star of the show. Not sure I'd try a third time but I'm glad I tried again even if the experience left much to be desired. read more

Food: My wife and I ordered the Lamb Chops with Truffle Fries and Collard Greens. The Lamb Chops were delicious, cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. The Collard were tender and well seasoned. The Truffle Fries were served hot and crispy outside and tender potato inside, very tasty. Short Ribs with mashed potatoes. The Short Ribs were fall off the bone tender, juicy with a great tasteful gravy. The Mashed potatoes were cooked perfectly not sure what was all in them however I would definitely get them again and again! Service: Absolutely hands down the best customer service. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and promptly. Our waitress was so sweet and polite also attentive but not pestering. The entire staff came by the table wish us a happy anniversary and at the end of our meal the staff presented us with chocolate cake a courtesy. First time in South Carolina and tried the hotel restaurant, Salt & Marrow, not a pleasant surprise of an establishment as I thought, it was more of a disappointment. From waiting 20 minutes for the only server on a Saturday night (mind you there was only 4 tables sat in the restaurant to give you context), to a poorly poured beer (that must not have been draft, but from a can or bottle due to the deficit in head space), to no corn bread brought to the table as offered, and a 40 minute wait for any food to come out. I almost walked out to grab a bite to eat from the hotels mini convience store. Now for the positive.The restaurant is nice, esthetically, warm and charming.. The small plate scallops with rice with delicious butter sauce was, well, delicious and worth the money. The cornbread, when it finally arrived with my dinner, was soft and had a sweet honey glaze on top with a slight crunch reminisce of a cream brulee, so I suppose that would constute dessert as there was none available. Overall, a delicious dinner. As a bonus, after my first bite, it was nice to be asked by the chef how it was, as he was walking around to each of the four tables having dinner. With that said, I hope breakfast is better in the morning and dinner will most likely be out in town the rest of my stay. read more

The food is good. When we arrived, the actual indoor restaurant had no staff or no activity, so we were confused as to why our reservation would be allowed when they was no one there or great us. We later found out we needed to check in at the bar and then head up to the outdoor rooftop option, as that information would've been more ideal to receive ahead of time. The rooftop is most pleasant with life music on Saturdays from 12 noon to 4 p.m. with a full bar and dancing. The food was delicious, served hot, appropriately cooked, and nicely flavored. This is one of Augusta's/North Augusta's best kept secrets. It pretty awesome here. read more

This was a big valentines group gathering and was all our first time here. Well it was beautiful coming in and nice ambiance. We had to wait some past our reservation. We sat in a private room which was nice until the smoke started filling the room. It was so smokey and our eyes were all burning. We tried opening the door to help ventilate it which did help but you could see the smoke everywhere. The ventilation system there is horrible. The food arrived somewhat cold sadly. It would've been a perfect dinner if it was hot especially since I got the lobster and shrimp. We felt bad our waitress who had to bring the cart of food 4 times with no help like usually see with big parties. The smoke irritated me so much I had to keep putting eye drops because they were irritated and stinging. I also did not like that you are leaving this high fine dining expensive place like smoke. But we were seated quickly and though the restaurant is an open space I felt like we were place far enough away from others for privacy. I like the minimalist style of the restaurant and service was fairly quick considering we had a large party and it being a Friday night. I wasn't super impressed with the beet salad. The beets tasted fine I just thought they were canned beets on a plate with garnishes. I loved the scallops, they were almost perfectly seared just missing the crispy top but otherwise perfectly seasoned and very good with the carrot rice underneath. The beef short rib was flavorful and tender with a nice sauce that paired well and didn't distract from the rib. Mashed potatoes were a good choice of side to balance out the richness. I came here to celebrate my birthday and it was pretty good. The venue is beautiful and the vibe was pretty chill. I ordered the lamb chops, spinach dip, and oysters and they were delicious. I just wish the lamb jobs were available as a main entree instead of a small plate. My husband ordered the ribeye and he said it was ok. This was my second time at Salt + Marrow Kitchen. It will probably be my last. The aesthetic is there & service was great but the food lacks. The first time I attended Salt + Marrow Kitchen it was Masters Week 2023 but I wanted a fair review so I always said I'd come back. This time I went to a reserved birthday dinner. Our server for about a party of 12 people was Lorraine. She was great! She knew the menu, orders were correctly placed & she was also very hospitable. I ordered the Roasted chicken with collard greens & mac + cheese. Our food came out pretty roomy temperature to warm, which is also the experience I had on my first visit with a much smaller party. The birthday girl received complimentary champagne & we got a random charcuterie board which was great! After shared plates & sampling overall I'd give a 6.5/10. Even though they looked to be heated, I was too cold to try this time. Inside has a warm easy vibe, with a view of the grill. The staff was pleasant and attentive. We started with the scallops small plate and while the scallops were good and well seasoned the rice was undercooked and crunchy. The kitchen sold out of the pork tomahawk on Friday night so we ordered the short rib and the 6 oz filet with the four cheese Mac and cheese. The short rib with potatoes was a fabulous choice. The meat was fork tender and the potatoes were an excellent side. The filet was not so good. First it was served in a bowl and was overcooked for a medium request temp. The mac and cheese was okay, I think I would have preferred a more creamy cheese sauce. From a nearby table I saw the wings that looked and smelled delicious. I think I would return to try the tomahawk and give the dome/ cocoon outside a try. I also saw the Cornish hen which also looked great. read more

I don't particularly like to write reviews with a low rating unless it was just a terrible experience. The food was not bad, however, the service needs a lot of improvement. I don't think our waitress was terrible, but more so a lack of proper training and guidance from the management. We made reservations for dinner but our table was not ready for 30 minutes after. We waited in the lobby and noticed the hostess walk around to call the other guest when their seats were available. When our names were called we did not get the same treatment, we had to go check and the response was "we were calling your name." It then took another 20 minutes before being greeted by our waitress to get drinks ordered. The menu had very limited items and when we asked our waitress questions about the menu she was not knowledgeable nor could she not make any recommendations because she had not tried anything. After we placed our order, we noticed some appetizers others ordered that we did not see on the menu so we asked if there was anything else they offered that wasn't on the menu. However, it took another 30 minutes just for her to check on us to order those appetizers. It took over an hour for us to receive our meals and when we did we didn't even have proper silverware to eat. We ordered a steak and received no steak knife. Nor did anyone ask if the steak or food was prepared properly. We tried to track down staff to get a steak knife but could not find anyone and no one even glanced in our direction when we did try to get someone's attention. So we had to use a butterknife because we didn't want to wait any longer. Our drinks were filled only once after we had been sitting there for over 2 hours. By the end of the meal, our waitress apologized for her lack of attention because she had a large party she was also attending to. The steak was lacking season and was a bit chewy however the salmon I ordered was cooked properly and full of flavor. Again, I don't think the food was bad just a lack of proper management and training could make a huge difference. Would I visit this restaurant again? No, but I would consider if they made these few suggestions. read more

We went on a Friday night and it wasn't terribly busy. We were able to get a table reservation on the same day. We were seated quickly and were greeted by our waiter in good time. The atmosphere was elegant and intimate. The menu had a curated selection of entrees. I opted for the blackened salmon but did side substitutions. It was quite delicious and everything tasted fresh. Entree? Cornish Hen was seasoned, it saved the night for me and my husband. Grilled Duck was RAW, not medium, but just RAW! Mac and cheese was very dry and not seasoned... menu stated three cheese????UGH so nasty how about No Cheese or cheap cheese? The menu had Sweet potato purée, but I received something that looked like Rice/orzo and it was COLD. I requested no greens, but Greens were under my Mac and cheese as if they took it off another plate with Greens. Silverware was dirty. I would not recommend this place and I will never go back. No disrespect intended, but to have meats such as Kangaroo, Ostrich, Boar, even Duck... the Chef must know how to serve and what temp to serve. I take part blame for my Duck because I assumed it would be cooked to my liking. I've been to many states and a few countries- I have never stated how I wanted my Duck cooked! Here's the thing. This is the first time I am posting a review but We have been here several times. We love our server, but I think they are under staffed that the servers couldn't keep up. That being said, here's what we can say about the food. I got the scallops which was their special for the evening. It is a very good serving and excellently cooked for the price. The oysters were good. The chicken wings were small but flavorful. The Rib eye was cooked well but nothing special about it. We had the quail and kangaroo last year which again was a good experience but will probably not order again. The pork secreto was divine! Too bad it's not available anymore. Kudos to the bar, we love our cocktails. We got the blueberry mint gin and spicy cucumber margarita (be sure to mix before taking a sip!). We are still probably going back. Last night I dined at 'Salt and Marrow kitchen' in Augusta Ga.. here is my review I was honestly shocked to learn that this restaurant is attached to a Crowne Plaza hotel down here. The hotel itself and the restaurant are very much 5 star so I didn't hesitate to give them a try.. probably the best decision I've made this week.. the food was phenomenal!! I had a lobster tail with stuffing inside ( first time ever and omg! ) and for my entree I had what they called 'seafood and grits'. It came with salmon, tomorrows, peppers, spinach, and grits.. when I tell you I started doing that little foot dance under the table it was so good!! Flavored to perfection and the presentation was astounding. I posted a few boomerangs in my story if you'd like to see for yourself.. This is the second time I've eaten here. I did not review the first time because I believe in giving places a second chance. This was horrible. Steak was way over done. I ordered medium rare and it came out done. Also very over seasoned with salt. The service was borderline unprofessional with jokes, messed up 2/4 orders, and she did not offer to fix it. Just kind of joked that what we got tasted the same anyway as the other and was really good. The only thing preventing 1 star is the collard green side. It was great. I will not be back.
