Grown up grilled cheese and corn chowder
    Ophelia M.

Stopped in Boll Weevil recently for dinner with a colleague. It was a Monday night at 6:30pm and we were able to be seated straight away. The vibes are casual and comfortable which pairs perfectly with the fare. There was live music while we were there (which was pitch perfect in volume as we were still able to speak comfortably). We sat and my dining companion mentioned they have a decent number of stouts on menu. I ordered a spiced stout, which was amazing. We also ordered their fried green tomatoes, which were great. It was my first experience with fried green tomatoes and they seemed to be an elevated version with a drizzle of balsamic and a horseradish sauce to accompany. Lovely! For my main, I got the grown up grilled cheese and a cup of their corn chowder. The grilled cheese was a tasty combination of pimento cheese and applewood smoked bacon on sourdough. It was divine. The corn chowder is hearty and flavorful. The service was friendly and the prices are reasonable. Get to it!

As the saying goes, "the more things change, the more they stay the same." And if you've been in Augusta you know downtown is ever changing (for the better). New places to eat, shop, and even art to discover. But just off the beaten path, though directly across from the Augusta Convention Center, is a spot that has been baking cakes, frying green tomatoes, and making bowls of corn chowder for 35 years! Boll Weevil is diverse in its clientele because of its diversity in offerings. You need a meal? Or just dessert? Or an entire cake? Or maybe one of the biggest selections of porters and stouts in the area? Yep, you guessed it. All right here at Boll Weevil. And come through to hear live music, join in on Bingo night, or experience a open mic. I have been here solo, as a couple, and with the extended family. There's seating and great customer service whatever the party size. If you haven't been, or it's been awhile, stop nito Boll Weevil soon. Also, bring your appetite for the desserts. They are humongous!

Stopped by here for lunch stopping through town on a Saturday. We had a wonderful server, Leila, who was super sweet and told us which dishes she recommends. We're glad we listened to her because her suggestions were good. We had the Havana Chicken with a side of Cesar salad and my husband had the Southern Gent Sammich with a side of corn chowder. I liked the chicken and the corn chowder but felt the rice that came with the chicken was not good. My husband enjoyed his sandwich. Lastly we finished with a slice of key lime pie which we both really enjoyed. In summary, the chicken itself, corn chowder and key lime pie were my favorites from what we ordered. Docking a star because the rice was not good with the chicken and that was a significant part of the dish. Thank you Leila for your hospitality!

It's been almost a year since I visited... Definitely not the same. The bread was different and not nearly as good as it used to be. Sandwich was much smaller. But the service was good, thanks to Rhagen. Overall, it was a little disappointing.

Dive bar ambiance. Good service. Free Street parking or their own lot. Southern cooking with some healthy vegetarian options. I enjoyed the black bean burger with cucumber salad and asian slaw. They offer this burger 2 different ways, and with your choice of bun/bread/hoagie and choice of side. I enjoyed the house salad with vidalia dressing. Hummingbird cake was ok but not as good as i expected. The texture was more finely ground than expected; the texture of the cake reminded me of a cake mix. Frosting is delicious. Right near the riverfront park. I would dine here again.

Boll Weevil Café is one of the first places in Augusta that I ever learned about, prior to ever visiting the area. It is a cute restaurant located downtown and near the river. Their cake and cheesecake slices are very well known and recommended by many! During my year in Augusta, I dined here probably five times. My take away from my experience is that the food is not the best ever, but it is a good place to go when you are with a couple of people and you want them to have options. Every time I have been here, I have only been for lunch. Never did I order anything for dinner. I definitely think the Experience of sitting in the place is worth it and I'm not sure that I would recommend just ordering something to go. Staff are friendly, but I'm think I like sitting at the bar best!

Place was clean. Music was at good volume so I wasn't yelling at my husband to have a conversation. The waitress was nice but not sure she cared for me so much. She seemed distant at the table. He ordered the Reuben Sandwich with tomato apple soup. He said the Reuben was good. The meat wasn't as tender as would liked. The tomato soup tasted like canned soup with additions. He would order the sandwich again but not the soup. I ordered the pimento cheese burger and chips. I got the burger and pasta salad. I stated I didn't ask for the pasta salad and she promptly brought me chips. The burger was a little more spicy than I expected it to be. It was good though. I'd order it again. The chips are kettle chips. They were as expected. We ordered a few craft beers. We enjoyed them and posted our review of those on Untappd. We also got a piece of cake. A single order was large enough for both of us it was more than we could eat. It was the 7th Heaven. It was good not impressive. Not close my eyes and moan delicious but good. Parking was around the back which is nice to not have to park on the street or search for parking. We will eat there again. It was good not great.

Fun family atmosphere. Good food. Reasonable prices. Only complaint is that it's so popular, it's often crowded.

If you've never been there, they will start you out with samples of all of their lemonade (which all of them are incredibly flavorful) and you'll inevitably get one because it's THAT good. The staff comes with recommendations to help you navigate the menu and they are so attentive and helpful. I'd go as far to say that they had some of the best service in Augusta. Now to the food, 10/10 I could not recommend them enough. I've had the honey lemon pepper wings and the loyalty platter. And it was so good. The honey lemon pepper wings were full of deep flavor and they give you at-least 10 wings with the plate. The steak and shrimp are the best seasoned meats I've ever had at a restaurant. I've also had a few nibbles of their seafood and ‍. Then when you're ready for dessert, don't worry you get samples too. The blue velvet is my favorite but all of them are award winning so you can't go wrong when it comes to Nattas sweet treats. Over all, great experience, great people, and great place. Get out and support local, it'll never disappoint. P.S. if you think it's pricey, you're wrong. You get what you pay for here. You get no less than two meals out of one plate.

I made a Southern Palmer with their Peach Tea and Unsweetened Ice Tea 1/2 & 1/2 of both mixed together, was the perfect beverage to pair with the Honor Platter. I finished the honorable meal with The Strawberry Velvet Cake Brownie & Red Velvet Brownie dessert pairing. The service from when I stepped in, while eating and leaving was exceptional, inviting and very pleasant. Shurell was fabulous, vibrant and a fresh of breath air. I highly recommend Kitchen Kings x Natta's Sweet Bakery to discover Augusta's Hidden Gem off Gordon Hwy. The Ambiance was the perfect R&B Vibe for a casual, sexy Saturday. Good bbq dinner with a colleague tonight…read more One of the more popular dining options in the south is BBQ. This one we chose tonight is a small chain, but offers an excellent bbq dining option. It's not a sitdown restaurant. You place your order at the counter then go find a place to eat. They bring out the food to you. Once you sit down, you're served with a plate of warm biscuits. There's some sort of cheese or something inside them, but it wasn't a distracting ingredient, just different. You always like it when you get the opportunity to try multiple types of bbq meat. The option for tonight was bbq rib and pulled pork. Not only are the portions very good. (had to get a to go box) but both meats tasted super. The pulled pork was tender and juicy. The ribs were large and plentiful. The ribs could've been a little more "fall off the bone", but we're good nonetheless. There's only one type of sauce to put on the ribs, but it was a good and not too tangy. With this meal option, you get two choices of sides. Being a big fan of coleslaw that was one side. The other side was corn on the cob. The coleslaw was sweet tasting. The corn on the cob had a bit of a hot bite to it. Both were fantastic. Thought to go with the sweet tea option, but since I had it earlier in the day, I chose otherwise.
