Very cute space, out of the way but also close to the interstate. Feels very Americana on the inside. Definitely a place for both locals and travelers. Nothing stand out about the menu but it was good food served at a southern chef pace. The man had the fried bologna sandwich and I had grilled shrimp. Both were great. Tasted like southern momma food. Nice variety and portions are good. Tons of parking. Hard to tell it is a restaurant. Our server was lovely! Definitely make the experience much better. Was driving to an appointment in South Carolina this afternoon and got hungry. Once I pulled up Yelp, The Back Porch was the first restaurant to come up so we gave it a try. Sooo glad we did. The food was delicious. The burger was juicy and the okra was fried to perfection. Also Mary was the best. First visit... cool place! Lots of ICE COLD beer to choose from and very LOW prices! We were very surprised!! Almost half the price for a beer versus mellow mushroom or pizza joint. Went for lunch, not sure if they have a different menu for dinner. Plenty of food and delicious for a low price. Clean restrooms, always a bonus. Mary was a wonderful server even though she was working the bar AND tables. Another patrons was telling us how busy it is on the weekends with live music... We will definitely have to check that out! AWFUL. The place looked good when we walked in and had a good atmosphere. Turns out it's more of a bar than a place to eat. There were other kids there, so we thought it would be fine to bring our kids in, but they had music with curse words blaring over the speakers. We sat for awhile before our waitress came but were hungry so we decided we'd wait it out. As soon as the drinks came we gave her our order. AN HOUR WENT BY without her checking on us, offering refills, or bringing any food. This is when we should've walked out. She finally came by and gave a refill but had no words to offer on when our food would be coming or even if our food would be coming. We finally told her we needed to get our food to go and it STILL took forever for them to give us our order. We paid our bill (which was higher than what the menu said the prices were) and leave. We open our boxes to discover we were missing half our food and the stuff we did get wasn't worth it. $50 wasted. What a disappointment! read more

I came here for a Meetup group event. They had a live band of two playing. I ordered the Cup of Each - $9.5 which included Chicken & Sausage Gumbo, Creole Jambalaya with Chicken, Sausage & Shrimp, and Red Beans & Rice with Smoked Sausage. All of them tasted ok. We went here last Friday night, or maybe it was Thursday. The night they had prime rib for $24.95. It was early, maybe 730pm. We got a table right away and the server took our order. I got the prime rib, with baked potato. When our order came out I had a very small piece of prime rib, maybe 6oz if that, (prepackaged type prime rib, they just reheated it there) no baked potato but a small dish of mashed potatoes, plain. No Au jus, no horseradish sauce. I asked for both and she did bring me au jus, but was out of horseradish. Needless to say, I left there hungry with a promise to never go back. My dad, brother, and two cousins are here tonight and were somewhat impressed. I had a house salad, and a burger with fries. The salad was, however, underwhelming. The ranch wasn't the best and the greens had an odd taste. But with that being said, the burger (pictured) was awesome! It was so juicy and flavorful. The buns were soft, but not soft enough to get soggy. It was wonderful. The fries were okay, nothing amazing, they were sort of hard, but they were good. The service was wonderful and our waitress was so sweet. We sat outside (great seating). They have a bar inside and outside as well. My husband and I enjoyed our evening last night at The Back Porch. Dinner was delicious. The Back Porch Ruben was so flavorful and delicious. The jalapeño bacon on the sandwich was spicy but not to spicy and a little sweet. I didn't even want to share with the hubby for some Prime Rib. I did let him snag a taste. The prime rib was a large portion and delicious as well, I got a small piece of his. The BBQ shrimp app was good. Fresh shrimp and jumbo. Not your frozen tiny shrimp chain restaurants tend to serve. We are new to this area and like to explore. My husband literally has a "restaurants around us" app that he uses. Well it was my idea to date night and he picked this place. I have to be honest and say that we felt a bit out of place. This is a great bar but totally not a yuppie scene which we are on accident. We grabbed a seat and we were greeted by our server. I like to let people know this is my first time visiting them and ask their recommendations. We ordered two appetizers: Pimento Cheese Sticks and Boudain Balls (sorry if i misspelled that....spell check doesn't even know what it is!). The appetizers came out hot and we quickly consumed the Pimento Cheese sticks.....not so much the Boudain Balls. The Pimento Cheese sticks were said to be spicy and my husband is cautious about the spicy heat (I on the other hand enjoy hellacious spices that make you sniffle and unintentionally cry...or feel as though you had lip implants...). He was able to eat the Pimento Cheese sticks with no problem. Those Boudain Balls though.....oh wow where to start. They were fried so very crispy and I was looking forward to finally trying this "boudain" thing. Well...the only reason I was wanting to try boudain is because when we drove across country our first time we stopped at some little Texas/Louisiana shop and they had these huge hush puppy looking things....now...back then the little girl behind the counter couldn't really explain what it was so we passed on it. TONIGHT WAS THE NIGHT! So....i bit into the Boudain Ball...and gagged. It tasted like what I remember chitterlings smelling like and I was so repulsed that I got an attitude with my husband for allowing me to order such a thing. I told him i though thought I just bit into a fried chitterling ball...and proceeded to look up what was in Boudain....it wasn't chitterlings but it did consist of pig insides....and it tasted just as such. The restaurant did nothing wrong with the Boudain Balls, just kinda were not our style. So we went ahead and paid for them because we ordered them (I felt bad about eating something and not liking it because im a picky yuppie). My husband had a great burger that he tried to review with me as he ate it - all the flavors he tasted and I had a pulled pork and slaw sandwich - really worth it. We are such a fan of this place and tell anyone we take by it that they need to try it! read more

Never noticed this place before. It sits up on a hill at the corner of Old Sudlow Lake Rd & Belvedere-Clearwater Rd. off Interstate-520 exit 21. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings and a draft beer. Served on a large buttery bun, it was one of the best burgers I have had in this area. Not many places serve good onion rings but these were good too. My guest went off menu and asked for BLT with fries. The did not have sandwich bread but asked if he prefer a hoagie roll or hamburger bun. He went with the hoagie roll and was delighted with his choice.
