Stumbled upon this place while walking through Hammond's ferry one day but had to come back when we had time to eat and I am so glad we did. Such a nice little place nestled in a small community with unique menu items and a great atmosphere. There is option to eat in or outside, and if you have kids there is a playground which is perfect to entertain the little ones while you enjoy your drinks and wait for your food. The pulled pork Benedict was fantastic and so large it was extremely filling that I had to nap afterwards. The French toast my wife had was delicious and full of favor compared to French toast at other breakfast places. Everything tasted fresh and proportional to the price you pay so it was worth every penny. The menu was large enough for options for a variety of food types depending on what you are craving, but small enough that you aren't overwhelmed with option overload. Everything looked delicious and it was hard to make a decision so I will have e to come back to try out other options. Well, that was an experience... 3 of us for dinner around 7PM on a Sunday night. Let's start by drinks that took nearly a half hour to come out. I ordered a hazy IPA and got a Hefeweizen. No problem. Wheat beer is fine on a nice outdoor night. Ordered both an appetizer and entrees since things were taking a while. Finished all of our drinks and still no food. No server either. Manager brought entrees out, and we finally were able to order a second round of drinks. Still no appetizer. Apparently it wasn't put in, so we cancelled it, and they brought it out in a to-go container, comped -- which was nice. Of the entrees, the flatbread had really good toppings if a bit of a soggy crust. Burger was very solid, juicy and properly cooked. Tots and sweet potato waffle fries all good too. Special wagyu pimento cheese sliders were cooked to a puck, missing toppings, and had a flavor suggesting the meat was less than fresh. Maybe my fault for a Sunday night dinner. I'd like to note also that the place wasn't busy. At all. Slow service, mid food, and a +$100 bill even after the comped app and discounted sliders. Look, I'll give it a second shot sometime, but if they're just rolling on autopilot due to Manuel's local reputation, they might want to rethink that strategy. read more

Went on a thursday night for a friends birthday and it was busier than expected because we didn't know trivia was happening, also made it very loud but it's okay. Food was good but in my opinion a little overpriced. My friend's greek salad was 18$ without a protein which is a bit much to me. The papas bravas and fried pickles were really good. I got the crispy bacon swiss burger which was good but missing the sauce and the bottom bun was completely soaked and useless. The atmosphere is really interesting, inside is very small with a bar and a few tables with only one single stall bathroom and outside feels like someone's nice backyard with a ton patio furniture. EXCELLENT!!! Food what's on point! Service was on point! And the ambience...sitting outside was like a movie setting!!! we came here on a Sunday for brunch and we loved it! The food was hot and delicious. The coffee was good and the service was great. The food came out without waiting long at all. I got the shrimp and grits. My husband got the pulled pork eggs Benedict. Fun, small, intimate. Not a ton of seating, but we sat outside, which was preferred, and it was nice. There is a playground right outside, which would be nice if we bring kids. The area feels like a small Charleston. The food, oh man, it was delicious! The grits were a great savory choice, it needs a little more flavor, just salt and pepper. The chicken biscuits was spot on, the chicken had a few tough parts. The seasoned home fries were great! The flavor had a little kick and had red pepper and onions. Came here on a Saturday night and it was decently busy. We had a large party and were able to accommodate us. The service was great and patient with our big group. I loved the spicy feta dip. I wouldn't say it was spicy but definitely very flavorful. The bread really helps balance the flavor. It was a big portion to share and I think we were barely able to finish it in our group of 8. For my main I got the ribeye melt which was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was definitely pretty heavy and I should've only had half. I loved the taste so much that I finished it all. Parking seems to be a bit hard here because it's just street parking. It shouldn't be bad on a regular night, but maybe saturdays are busy. read more

All I have to say is wow. This place is awful. We waited over 2 hours for our food, and watched our server eat in the kitchen as we were waiting for our food. We wanted to order the ribeye but was told they were out. Then we asked about the chicken, and they were out of that too. I finally got a burger with a side salad and was told half an hour later that they were out of lettuce? How is that possible. I'm never returning. This place sucks and the waiter with the man ponytail is slow and lazy. read more

Cute little place, great for sitting and enjoying lunch or dinner outdoors. I really love the fact this place is kid and pet friendly. There's a small playground for the kids and they bring water out for the dogs. We stopped for lunch and ordered kids chicken fingers first my son, papas bravas, the spicy feta dip and fried avocados. I wasn't too excited about the food, it had no taste, no salt, no pepper, but we did order a drink it was delicious!! This was the coolest place! It's a quaint little outdoor restaurant to grab food and drinks. It looks like there is only street parking I. The neighborhood and the place is surrounded by houses. They have a variety of items to include moonshine ice cream. We ran out of time and it was a bit cold out, so we didn't try the ice cream. They have some interesting sounding cocktails. We sat at on of their picnic tables and the servers were awesome! They turned on the outdoor heaters for us. We all got a salad of some type. I got the Mediterranean salad which was amazing! Cute spot with plenty of outdoor seating and some indoor. Located in at the end of a community it's such an escape from the rest of the city and a great place to grab lunch or dinner. Their menu is very limited with not a lot of choices so I went with the ribeye melt ($16) and a side of tater tots. I really enjoyed the sandwich and the tots were great as well. I tried their sweet potato fries and they are the best sweet potato fries I've ever eaten. Very moist inside while crunchy outside and not dry at all. I also like that the Larder has King of Pops and ice cream as well. Overall I think this is a good place to eat but it came out to be over $20 for just one sandwich after tax and tip. Ended up coming here due to the wait for other brunch places nearby. They have a decent amount of outdoor seating. I got the chicken biscuit that had pimento cheese on it with a side of home fries. Home fries were well seasoned. Chicken with the biscuit was juicy. My friend got the breakfast tacos which she enjoyed but did need more salsa. Her hubby got the French toast (I think they change the flavors weekly?). While I didn't try the French toast it didn't look as custard-y as I'm used to. They were busy, but the food wasn't great. Super inconsistent. Ribeye was good and hot while the tater tots on the side of them were old and cold. Skip the hot dog. Entirely underwhelming. The side salad was fine. The vinaigrette it came with was amazing though. Except the food runner said he was gonna grab me the dressing and some condiments for the tots and never came back so I had to track down someone to get it. App wise, we got the Caprese flatbread and tuna nachos. Not bad. Nachos were actually very good beyond the oily wontons. Pizza was fine, but it was on a pita bread (or so it looked/tasted) and also cold. It also took forever to pay. Like I didn't start writing this review until we were complete done eating and we still have not found anyone to take our payment yet. They were busy. But it wasn't good. It wasn't terrible. We shared the spicy feta dip amongst 6 people, and I had the chicken & goat cheese sliders as my main with sweet potato fries as the side. The flavor of the feta dip kinda reminded me of Cheetos - it's not spicy though. It was good to share but not my favorite feta dip/I wouldn't have been able to have a lot. The chicken & goat cheese sliders were yummy and actually quite filling with the sweet potato fries. I enjoyed them - but the meal as a whole is a little on the dryer side because there isn't really any sauce, which is probably to be expected for sliders. The Larder ... Mannnnnn where do I start. Service is ALWAYS A1. The staff is super nice. Attentive. No issues there.  The setting is very serene. I just love Hammond's Ferry.  Sooooo. A chicken biscuit for $16 already sounds like a bad idea. But Im like "Maybe this is the BEST chicken biscuit ever. They HAVE to at least give me a decent portion. Don't they?" Of course not. The chicken was probably equal to MAYBE half of a (small) chicken strip and thinner than my pinky finger. The surface area of the chicken was about half of my palm. (I am not a large man by any means.)  This was probably THE worst chicken biscuit I have had locally. (Taste-wise. I am NOT accounting for portion/value) Including Popeyes, Bojangles, Chickfila and Garys. Dry. Flavorless. And it's something that is so easy to do.  (BRINE YOUR CHICKEN.) You can taste subtle hints of cheddar in the biscuit but it was missing something. I did like the texture of it. Slightly crisp on the edges but soft.  My fiance compared it to a Cheddar Bay biscuit from Red Lobster minus the seasonings and garlic. Accurate description.  S/N: Home fries came with the chicken biscuit were half-done. Nothing special. Chopped up potatoes. No seasoning. Fiance had the Fried Blueberry French Toast. It didnt blow me away but I liked it. It's a single slice of bread, halved. Was very thick though. Was a bit sweet + powdered sugar. I liked the texture on this one too. Almost felt like a desert. She compared it to cake. We both rated it about 7/10. I won't expound on the eggs (not included, ordered à la carte for $1.50) but they were REALLY bad. She called her bacon, "bacon chips" and was not a fan. I ordered a side of bacon ($3 i think). It was a crisper than I like but I enjoyed it. (Some salt. Finally.) Purchased the mimosa flight. Server wasn't too knowledgeable about the flavors. And kinda just gave us whatever when they ran out of some flavors we requested =\. (Can't even critique the flavors bc I dont know what's what. But strawberry was definitely bad.)  Also didn't know what à la carte meant. She was super nice though. Pretty sure IF we come back it will be strictly for a change of scenery and ambiance. I did have plans to visit for the wings one day. Despite them being grossly overpriced. (12 pc. for $18) I did have a friend speak highly of them and they are labeled as "FAMOUS". I've only been to this place for brunch and can't speak for any other meals. But each time I've come, I've never been disappointed. The food has always been good. The service has also always been good. It's a nice little spot hidden away in North Augusta. If you want to escape the hustle and bussel of Broad Street and Augusta, for sure come here. I had no idea it was in the same area as Manuel's BREAd cafe and Divino and I've have really good experiences at both restaurants. It was actually hard to find a parking space especially since it was kinda packed when I arrived here Saturday after work. I had no idea that this restaurant sold moonshine ice cream.I actually got a chance to get Apple Pie Moonshine ice cream along with the RibEye Melt with kettle chips. I came in here to try it because I've had pretty good experiences with Manuel's Bread Cafe, and this is their sister restaurant. It definitely did not disappoint. It's a little more casual than its cafe counterpart and it is more of a seat yourself and enjoy adult lunchables with your choice of liquor affair. My friend and I sat ourselves and started talking. Time seemed to have gotten away and no one had come to attend to us. The bartender left from behind the bar and asked, "Has anyone come to help you yet?" We shook our head no. He apologized and brought us menus and said, "I'm the bartender, but I'm also the manager. I am very sorry for your wait and the first round of drinks are on me." Unfortunately, we are responsible adults that do not drink and drive, so we refrained from imbibing and opted to get sodas. We ordered a pimento cheese and the chicken and goat cheese sliders to share. The food was delicious and has a very farm to table feel. Even the chips seemed hand cut and fresh. Some friends and I stumbled upon this place when our first choice for brunch was at capacity. At first glance, the atmosphere was nice and the people seemed friendly. The gentleman who refills the drinks was consistent and never let our cups get below half. Amongst all of us we had: shrimp and grits, bacon, home fries, eggs, Mary Jane drink, sweet tea, and blueberry French toast. The sweet tea, bacon, and eggs were good. The bacon was cooked well, and not too crispy. We found out why none of the other tables ordered French toast. The French toast is actually fried, dark crispy on the outside. The inside is EXTREMELY mushy. It is similar in texture to cake that isn't done baking. They do not offer regular make syrup so if you are allergic to blueberries this isn't for you As The bread itself is quite bland and nothing any of us would order again. Many of us couldn't even finish it. The home fries are simply small cubed potatoes with diced raw onions and tomatoes. There isn't enough onion or tomatoes to mention them honestly we counted about 3 each per plate. They are served with a spicy aioli but ketchup was also available. They weren't seasoned at all, not even with salt. The Mary Jane drink left much to be desired. It was like champagne with pink lemonade. And for a whopping $12 it certainly could have stayed with the bartender that made it. We were quite disappointed that the server suggested this. Again, no wonder we saw so many orders of mimosas coming out and none of what we ordered. The shrimp and grits was actually good before we found a hair in the food. While the staff was nice, they said it would be COMPT. Well I guess that doesn't mean complimentary because the $18 dish was simply reduced by $10 Vice being complimentary for such an unsanitary finding. So many things wrong with the place. The bathroom leaves the patrons wondering why the prices are so high and the restroom isn't tended to properly. Overall, we won't be back due to the lack of care for sanitary conditions, food quality, and price gouging. read more

This is what a modern bodega should look like. Located within Hammond's Ferry, parking requires you to immediately to become a member of the neighborhood. You find an open slot on the street, walk up the sidewalk, passing homes and their front porches as you prepare to enter the best "local bar" in the area. The night I stopped in for supper a local artist was on exhibit. But art is simply an addition to a place that seems to have everything. Local wares on the shelves, regional beers on tap, and locally sourced dishes on the menu all make you feel at home yet takes familiar dishes and adds its own flair. I ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT and substituted tater tots for the chips. I needed a quality stout on a brisk night and one on tap from down in Savannah was the perfect match. It came out quick, cold, and ready to be enjoyed. Now when the BLT arrived, my first response was in surprise at the sheer size of it. It is not a kid's sized sandwich. And that bread, you don't have to be a bread lover to appreciate the fluffy airy texture of it. The jalapeno bacon gave it the kick, that and the lettuce gave it the crunch, and then the horseradish tarragon aioli was the boot that kicked everything you've ever known about fried green tomatoes and BLT's out the window. The tots had that perfect amount of salt, enough to enhance but not counterbalance the starchiness of the potato. The outside, crisp with each bite tempting you to eat more than one at a time. The team here is top notch and the atmosphere is cozy, close (as in seating), and makes you wish there were a Larder in your neighborhood. I look forward to returning soon. read more

Like other reviewers, we ended up here for brunch due to wait times at other places. The Larder has whimsical outdoor seating that is appealing and it was very sunny so the staff was bringing out umbrellas to set up, which I thought was really nice. It was a busy Sunday but we still got really good service. I got the breakfast tacos which were surprisingly good, but did have to ask for salsa in the side since there was not much in the tacos themselves. French toast was pretty creative...different from ones we've tried before. All in all, we will be back for sure...maybe dinner and a beer next time with the hanging garden lights on and a band playing! read more
