My family had a great time at Sole this week while in town for the Tuesday practice round of the Masters! The staff are kind, well trained, and very attentive! It was refreshing to see a top notch staff! Their menu offered something for everyone which worked out great for us since daughter is vegetarian. The restaurant was super clean, modern, and roomy! We enjoyed sushi, tacos, nachos, shrimp and grits (not on the printed menu but still offered) non alcoholic beer for the Hubs and a nich Marlbourough (sp?) sauvignon blanc wine for the girls. We were delighted to find a place without a dress code to have an early dinner and there were plenty of tables and we didn't need a reservation! My favorite dish we tried was the tempura battered fried olives! Wow! These were great! Flavorful, not greasy, and just a fun take on delicious olives!!!! They came with a house made ranch dressing dip. They were out of bleu cheese which I love, and I do think the blue cheese would have been even better as an olive dip. Back again!!! I missed this place as I didn't travel much last year. It's our secret date night spot. We drive from Columbia SC and the food, vibe and music on Saturday night is well worth it. Solé roll is a must! We alternate between the Solé roll and goyza each visit. The menu changes and has been different each visit and that's okay. Food is good quality here and doesn't disappoint This time 1/5 our server was extremely slow but it was ok as we enjoyed our friends we brung with this time. I had the chicken Florentine and it was just okay. The mashed potatoes were perfect! They started from scratch in my opinion but the cut of chicken was super thin for the amount of toppings. The food is great. The service was extremely great. Our server Abby was wonderful. Definitely made us feel at home and made us want to come back. The only downside is it is extremely loud and very difficult to have a conversation. It is not an intimate kind of environment. More like eating in a very loud bar. Customer service and ambience are both amazing. Delicious food and lots of options. Anailah was by far the best server we'd had at this establishment! We were seated with no wait(We changed to wait on a heated table tap that took a few more minutes). Adequate bar, indoor and outdoor seating. The other cocktails could be better but I enjoyed their raspberry margarita. Raspberry cheesecake, beef tip meal, loaded potato egg rolls, blue cheese nachos are all really good. Visiting for overnight stopover I came to this place because of the nice cheap happy hour menu. We don't have happy hour in nc and definitely don't include buffalo trace in many drink specials. Birthday time for a friend and they chose this spot. Arrived at 7pm and seated a little after 8pm. Ordered food at 8:30 and food arrived a little after 9pm. I understand we had a party of about 15 people, but reservations were booked early and I was super hungry. I think our hostess was a little overwhelmed due to the amount of people she was servicing, but she did a good job. Ordered the Swiss burger and I gotta say, it was really good and not dry. I was quite surprised since it was cooked well done. The fries on the other hand were not good at all. They came out cold, soggy, and greasy. Sole is a great downtown establishment. The staff is awesome, the long bar is something to behold and the outside bar is fantastic. I had the mashed potato spring rolls and a spicy tuna roll. Both were excellent. I also had a couple of regional craft beers. I would have liked to try a cocktail or two, but couldn't stay long. They have ample tvs displaying any number of sporting events, which is great. Combined with a large and open dining area, this is a spot to come and hang out on your own or with a group. Sole is one of the few places I keep coming back to downtown and is always consistent with great customer service and food quality. The one thing that keeps reeling me back in is the mashed potato egg rolls, simply the best! The tacos are great but the sushi rolls are phenomenal, just the diversity of what you can get in a single sitting doesn't get much better plus it's great for sharing with your table if you can't decide. Me and the wife usually split a roll and the street tacos and that calls it a night for us. The drinks here are fantastic, such a large selection they have about everything you need and if you are a whiskey/bourbon drinker such as myself they have all the top tier bottles to select from. This last time I was here I had 2 old fashions and they were so good I forgot my card when I left, not to worry I had an Uber take me home however she prefers I call her my wife. Always have a plan! The thing I love about this spot is that they have a great indoor area but also a large outdoor patio both upstairs and downstairs that is great during the winter when they have fire pits to sit by. Tonight was a very special night for my Line Sisters and me. We celebrated our first Founders Day, . We'd began calling around a few weeks ago to different restaurants inquiring of reserving for a large party. Some places told us they just couldn't accommodate us, others wanted a $200 deposit upfront, wanted to give us select options from the menu...it was crazy. I told one of my Sisters that I was gonna reach out to Solé and see what they say. I first sent an email on January 4th, a weekend. The restaurant was closed the 6th-9th. It didn't look good. BUT a couple days before they were due to open back up, I received a response from one of the managers, Rachel. She told they don't take reservations, but they could set me up for priority seating. Rachel asked me what date, what time, and how many people. We were confirmed for 20 people, 6 pm, January 13th. Our number grew and we worried that we may not all be able to sit together. I went in a little ahead of time to see if we could increase our count. I did not the get the young lady's name up front, but she said, "no problem". I said all of that to say, Solé gave great service from beginning to end. The food was good, service good, great atmosphere. This review is for the sushi 101 class/fundraiser Everything was very well managed from wait times to mis en plas for the sushi stations. There were employees who circulated to offer assistance, but for the most part this was pretty hands off and some of the pieces were very creative. After we finished the rolls we queued up to have them sliced. The lines got long but moved steadily. I took mine to go and was offered wasabi and ginger as well as a choice of sauces. We were shocked when we ate here the other night. We had about a 30 minute wait because of how busy they were. The atmosphere was great though and we were excited. Nice restaurant right downtown. Even open on a Tuesday night. Our server was Maddie. She was delightful. She not only served us with grace and charm, but she wrote out a list of places she thought maybe we could find PIckleball in Augusta. She truly showed us Southern hospitality! We came for happy hour, which at this restaurant just means beer and liquors, but they kindly added mixer when we asked. There were no food items on the happy hour menu, but the sushi was well priced so we enjoyed that as well. It was well prepared right in front of us behind an open counter. The mashed potato egg rolls were very different. Not bad but not really that memorable. They needed some Cajun spice like some Tony Chachere inside and the Cajun Ranch needed some too but overall good. The sushi was pretty but lacked flavor. It was just ok. First time here for dinner. The restaurant was clean. The staff is nice , our waitress was helpful and friendly. The food was delicious. Everything went well here. Except our waitress was not aware of the special's on the menu and I was charged full price for things. But other then that everything was good. I do recommend and we will be back. Came here with some friends to celebrate being done with some exams! I recommend calling ahead and getting a spot on the wait-list since they're generally super busy (especially when you go on a holiday haha) We got the jerk shrimp tacos and mozzarella jalapeno grit fritters for the appetizers and they were both so delicious. For the sushi, my friend and I split the Georgia bullfrog and nuclear. They were smaller portions than I expected, so was very glad we got the appetizers. They have plenty of outdoor seating and the servers were super nice. Service was super attentive and friendly. Sushi wAs excellent. Ate here with a colleague that lived in Japan for 7 years and even he was a fan. The non-sushi items were good but not as impressive. You will always get great food and vibes but this gal was one of a kind! Her name was Anylah and she was just an absolute ray of sunshine that really added to our dining experience. I was so impressed with her professionalism as well as her helpfulness! She told us how to best reheat our leftovers to keep them good, had so many recommendations and was just overall an incredible employee. Her attitude was infectious. I tried to find a manager before I left to congratulate them on having such a wonderful employee -- that's how incredible she is -- but wasn't able to track one down. You ever drive by a certain tree or house or just any object of beauty and the first few times you notice it. You stare, you smile, you have positive thoughts about life. But then, you eventually just drive by the thing. You don't notice it any more than you do the gas prices at the corner gas station. Life just dulls it to your attention. And that happens to restaurants as well. I drive and/or walk on Broad Street almost every day of my life. Yet somehow I became food blind to one of the best spots downtown. Per usual, I was in a sushi mood. I can eat quality (and subpar) sushi any day/anywhere/any time. With it being date night for my wife and I, I had looked up the Wednesday special and found Solé has BOGO (buy one get one) 50% off rolls and (per usual) happy hour till 7 pm. Aka, a win for everyone. When the weather is right, the outdoor seating is amazing. They have fans circulating for the warmer nights and they break out fire pits and heaters for the cooler ones. But the difference maker is the coverage provided by the second level seating. This blocks sun, rain, and random bird droppings from ever making it to your plate. There is a full bar outside as well. Now I'll let you in on a new favorite there, as far as apps go. The buffalo blu cheese chicken nachos. The right amount of heat and cheese crumbles, and they do not skimp on the cheese. Literally every chip is covered. Also I come hungry but lately those nachos and a couple of smaller rolls and I'm done. That's just how big of a plate they fill. There's a sushi special on Mondays and half off bottles of wine on Thursdays, but honestly any night is a good night to grab a bite (or three). Lastly, live music on the weekends. Last weekend, we (a party of 8) we're told we had a reserved table for 9pm. Once we arrived at 8:50 we were told that the table was not ready because other parties hadn't moved. Although, our table was supposed to be reserved, we agreed to wait. The hostess ensured the kitchen would remain open for us since it typically closes at 10/1030. We were finally seated at 9:50 & received our food at 10:45. We were given complementary appetizers but everything that was purchased came out BEYOND COLD, as if it came straight of out the fridge. We watched our sushi orders sit at the end of the counter for approx 15 minutes. I haven't been to Solé in a while but if it was anything like this last visit, I see why. read more

They offered an option to get in the waiting list for a table, and there were 11 groups in front of us, so we had ample time to drive from over an hour and still get a table. Upon arrival, we let them know that we were there and waited for about 5 minutes before we were seated. Masks are required inside the restaurant and most of the staff had them on. I ordered a Strawberry Tom Collins and the firecracker sushi. The drink was watered down, but the sushi was crispy (flash fried) it was good, but not memorable. read more

Called ahead to be put on a wait list. When we got to the restaurant, still had to wait, even after calling ahead. My girlfriend loved the seneca and the Pink Lady minus the spicy tuna. She does not like spicy. My order of the Dragon was delicious and the beef did not feel dry, but was overwhelmed by the rice and sauce in the roll. I also ordered Nigri salmon, eel and tuna was delicious especially the eel with the sweet sauce. The sushi didnt feel fresh, which is not uncommon around here. Since I had fresh caught sushi before, but was adequate in taste. The server was kind and helpful, even letting us know about a big party next to our table.
