If you're in Evans, GA and looking for a spot that truly delivers--Winston's Tavern is it. Hands down, some of the best food I've had in a long time! We started with the Oyster "Rockefeller" and crab cake served with vinaigrette mixed greens--both were absolutely delicious and set the tone for the night. For entrées, we had the Duck Confit with succotash (corn, beans, bacon), Chicken Française, and the market fish, which was a beautifully butterflied flounder. Every single dish was cooked to perfection. Honestly, the pictures don't do the food justice--the chef clearly knows what they're doing. The cocktails were just as impressive--well-crafted and flavorful. Prices are reasonable for the quality you're getting, which makes it even better. The atmosphere is small, cozy, and super cute--perfect for a date night or a girls' night out. Customer service was top notch, and even the bathrooms were clean (which always matters!). When a restaurant is new, you can bet that reviews are already on Yelp, and in other places. I read the previous reviews to see if I can add something new. Luckily, I can. It has been mentioned before that reservations are necessary even for a weekday. For Evans, that is unique. We were lucky that a table was available and that we had a good view of the interior and the kitchen. My husband is the chef in our house so he observed the kitchen staff while I, interested in ambiance, made note of the clientele and the wait staff. This is the conclusion I made. This venue looked like a great place for a first date, a drink in the evening with friends or dinner with someone special. I would not go there for a family birthday party and it is definitely an adult venue. The staff was obviously well trained for excellent service. The smiles were genuine. Our server's recital of the days' specials wasn't rushed and she answered my husband's questions. She was also was patient with my husband's suggestion for an already perfect dish. The tables were uncluttered by table clothes and condiment's. The noise level set off our smart watch's alarm but we had not problem conversing. Just one more thing. I almost never see restrooms mentioned. Winston's Tavern has clean, very clean, restrooms as befitting a very classy venue. Thank you for the experience. You have to make a reservation in order to dine even on a Tuesday. The hostess was very welcoming and nice. We arrived at 5:15 and was seated at a small table next to the kitchen. I assumed the other tables were reserved but at the time it was empty. Our waitress was knowledgeable but she didn't give us all the specials like the male waitress at the other table. In order the filet mignon cooked medium and au gratin potatoes and my date ordered the steak frites cooked medium rare. Unfortunately my steak was medium rare and I only ate half of it . My date says the fries were delicious but the steak good has been better. The cocktail's was the star of the dinner. The manager gave me half off due to the fact that I didn't eat the steak which was a plus. read more

Friends recommend Winston's so we tried it. We found the layout crowded with little space between tables. It is a Tavern. The prices are comparable to nearby Cork and Flame. We ordered the beef filet medium rare with gratin potatoes. The beef was slightly rearer than medium and the gratin potatoes were looked delicious but were way undercooked. We replaced them with their fries. The wait person dropped one of the fries so had to wait for the second one. For an upscale restaurant Winston's left us wanting. Next time we will go to Cork and Fame. Winston's may be a good restaurant but not for us. 1st impression can be last impressions. read more

My husband and I decided to try this place to celebrate our anniversary and it did not disappoint. They gave us champagne to celebrate and it was really good. We had the crab poke as an appetizer and it was amazing. It was very flavorful and the chips were fresh. For our mains, we have the steak and frites and the blackened salmon. The steak and frites was just okay. It could have been seasoned more and I didn't like that it was precut. I think they put the extra seasoning on the salmon instead of the steak because it was pretty salty. Eating it with the rice and sauce helped bring it down. I made birthday reservations for my boyfriend and I'm so glad that I did! The place just oozes opulence and affluence. The decor was chic and very nice. The menu is little, but this showed that they perfect the items that they have. We both ordered the blackened salmon and I did my happy dance the whole time I was eating. The fish melted in my mouth and the crab etouffee was DELISH. Our server, Kristin, was a complete darling and took SUCH good care of us. Make a reservation in advance and wear something nice. There are two TVs in there if you want to sit at the bar and have a really nice drink, but the food is the highlight of this place. It was SO GOOD. read more

Winston's Tavern feels like a big city restaurant smack dab in downtown Evans. The interior is dark and intimate with clearly hand picked decor touches throughout the restaurant. Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and throughout the night we had table touches from multiple staff members. I had originally ordered the pasta which was sold out by 7:30 (which definitely means it HAS to be good for it to be out so soon) but was recommended to go towards the chicken francaise which I was so happy with in the end. Everything in the kitchen seemed to be incredibly fresh and made from scratch which is so nice to see. Started with the brown bread and butter, and one of the mocktails. Both were very good, I do wish they had more mocktail selections as all of the cocktails on the menu looked so detailed. Entrees were the chicken francaise and the steak frites. Both were EXCEPTIONAL, the sauces, it's allllll about the sauces. I think we would've ordered to-go containers of the sauces if we could for both dishes. The desserts also looked appetizing but by the end of the night we were very content by the portions of the entrees. If Winston's Tavern were a person, I'd marry it and send Michael the bartender a thank-you note every anniversary. This man is a mixologist, therapist, and part-time wizard. His cocktails could resurrect a bad mood, a dead phone battery, or possibly your last relationship. The staff? Absolute angels. Smiling, helpful, and actually seem to like people -- which, in Augusta, is rarer than a polite driver on Washington Road. Customer service here isn't dead -- it's thriving and doing jazz hands. And the food... my God. Whoever's in that kitchen needs their hands insured. Every bite was so good I considered writing a poem about it. Flavor explosions, happy tears, spiritual awakening -- the whole thing. If taste buds could twerk, mine were doing the Cupid Shuffle. Bottom line: Winston's Tavern is the kind of place you come for dinner and end up adopting as your new religion. I'll be back, possibly tomorrow, possibly in a sequined robe of devotion. read more

Clam chowder was simply divine. The steak frites was good but it needed a little bit more for me to give this restaurant 5 stars.

I don't usually write reviews right after visiting a new restaurant, but this place earned it. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and stylish, and the staff made us feel immediately taken care of. We started with the flatbread and the steak tartare, and both were exceptional. The flatbread had the perfect balance of crisp edges and soft center, topped with fresh ingredients that really popped. The steak tartare was incredibly well-prepared--bright, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality beef. It's easily one of the best I've had in the area. But the standout of the night was the steak frites. The steak was cooked perfectly--tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. The fries were golden, crispy, and just downright addictive. Paired with their house sauce, it was one of those rare dishes you keep thinking about long after the meal is over. Between the fantastic food, attentive service, and great ambiance, this restaurant feels like a new go-to spot. Had a group of seven ladies for a gift exchange dinner. Drinks were great, service was great, food was delicious. As we were ordering dessert and another round of drinks. At this point our checks are about $100 a piece. We are then informed we only had 17 minutes left for our table that another reservation is expected at 8. I said we are still ordering. Server said she was sorry but there was nothing we could do. So we canceled order, went to tavern down the way and proceeded to spend money for another few hours there. Walked in and saw the best manager that used to be at our favorite Augusta restaurant. So I knew then it was about to be great. Love the decor and style- a little sad we were by the kitchen doors and couldn't see everything. Ordered the grilled oysters- phenomenal- tasted like melt in your mouth buttered steak. And the lump crab poke- also great- the crisp wontons with the richness of the lump crab was balanced out well by the seaweed salad. I would probably just eat appetizers as my meal next time it was so good. Did order the yeast rolls- and while the taste of the seasonings were good, the texture was a bit dry and crumbly- not really what I'm looking for in a yeast roll. 3 comes with it and only two were consumed by a table of 4. Nobody's fav. Still new so hoping they work something out with them but probably wouldn't waste my time trying them again. Dinner entree's our table got a couple filets- both excellent cooked perfect medium rare. No sauces needed. Came with yummy cheese potatoes au gratin style. Steak frites- just normal, the filet was so much better but still cooked well. Wish the fries were dressed up a little like Parmesan truffle or an aioli with it for dipping. The tagliatelle pasta looked great but I didn't get to taste- as there was non leftover from my friend- pair with chicken or shrimp. Drinks- my frost time trying a dry martini and loves it though my favorite was the smoked peach mule. Also tried the fig newton and loved it though I didn't have any fig taste other than the dried fig on my skewer. Felt it was stronger on the citrus side. Friend had the blackberry lemon drop and we both felt it was reminiscent of a Hawaiian Pun. Next she opted for the Raspberry Marg which was better. 4/5 because of the dry bread- feel like that should be an easy go to every time for $5 bread service and now I don't want it again. And also for the adjust basic steak frites which after having it feel the $39 price tag was a little high for basic. Can't wait to go back and try more. read more
