Pulled pork, fried okra, mac n cheese. All delicious.
    Aaron S.

Barbecue (or more apparently written, BBQ) is the sushi of the South. Think about it; it can be fresh from the field/pen or fried up, it can be paired with just about anything under the sun, and the truth (if you're honest with yourself) is that "my last bite" is just a opportunity to catch your breath before you eat some more. That said, you bring barbecue to my attention just know I come with a fork and a bucket full of skepticism. I'm either leaving full or letting that pitmaster know they are "full of it." And so one fateful evening I made my way over to Smoke & Barrels. Now I did let my guard down just a touch, knowing that they have the same owners as Ironwood Tavern (don't even get me started on that bulgogi pizza!). But still, I came with a watchful eye. Now I'll mention this, as a neutral comment and nothing more, that you order then are seated. Aka, they don't come to the table and take your order or refill your drink. Honestly I'm indifferent on this, more so when my order came out in quite the timely manner. Per usual, I ordered some pulled pork. That's the true test of a pitmaster. I added a side of mac n cheese and fried okra. Of course I'm planning to wash it all down with some sweet tea (I took a chance on that one). As aforementioned, the order came out quickly. And with it the quick realization that I would not be exiting hungry. Quantities are sufficient (aka, you will have enough to eat-as my great grandmother would say). I could tell from the texture and coloring of the pork that a house party was about to commence in my mouth. You just have to know what a beautiful pile of tender, juicy pig meat can do to a person. Mac n cheese had some darker brown spots (aka, been in that oven!) and the okra called out with its vibrant green from beneath the brown exterior. I am not sure, but I might have set a new world record for holding my breath the longest...as I did not take a single one as I devoured everything. The only reprieve was when I paused for a refill of tea (which yes, was syrup sweet and made it look like I was wearing lip gloss). I am excited to return and try some of every category; meat, sides, apps, and desserts. But I'll stick with that tea. Dessert in a glass! Stop in soon if you know what's good for ya.

Personally right now.I am surprised that this restaurant doesn't have that many reviews. This is one of the best places in evans to get barbecue at. My first visit here was wonderful and the service was just as wonderful. I had purchased a small chop beef with Kansas style barbecue and a natty style barbecue with broccoli and rice casserole and a Mississippi mud pie. And let me tell you that was the best thing I have eaten in so long. The ambiance here was just as wonderful. If you haven't tried smoking barrels I encourage you please try it at least once. I didn't leave disappointed.

I have an allergy to beef and pork so finding a BBQ place around town that can make really good chicken has been a struggle. I ordered at the counter and got a table number. I was greeted by a server asking if we wanted alcoholic drinks. We placed an order for the table. The food was delivered quickly. The drinks took a little longer. The food was spectacular. I haven't had chicken that juicy in a long time. I didn't care for the BBQ sauce that came with the meal but it really didn't need it anyway. It's too sweet for me. The pickled onions are fantastic and even though the pickles are bread and butter, my least favorite pickle, they were also good. I ordered Mac and cheese and rice and broccoli casserole. Both were delicious. My husband ordered the turkey plate and got potato salad. I really enjoyed his potato salad but the turkey wasn't anything special. I also got a banana pudding to go and it was good. My husband ordered a transfusion and I ordered the white linen. We ended up switching because my drink was essentially a glass of gin. The drinks need a little bit of work but other than that, I'm happy to have found a new BBQ home.

I made grilled cheese and brisket sandwiches at home with the brisket from the big brisket plate.

I can't believe this pace doesn't have any reviews yet, it's DELICIOUS! It's hard to find yummy brisket around here and they hit the spot. I got the big brisket plate with two sides. I came home and made two grilled brisket sandwiches and still had meat left. My sides were potato salad and coleslaw. Both were really good. The only negative thing I have to say is the coleslaw had more onions than what I'd like but I don't like purple onions at all. Will most definitely be going back and soon!

    Sunday lunch

Had their Sunday smoked wings and pulled pork meat side. I gotta say that "you get what you pay for," is for real here. The amount of food, the taste and flavor was way above expectations. Tots and okra were great! Left satisfied and a believer.

After a long day fishing on the lake this group of Northerners needed some Southern hospitality. Tell that's what we found here. A place to fill our empty bellies. The food was delicious, comfort food and everything we needed! The service was outstanding and kind. This was everything we hear about the south being....and more! We would have given 4.5 stars, but it wasn't an option.

    Pulled pork. It was delicious.

Had lunch here. I loved the vibe. Laid back and relaxed. The ladies working the counter were great. I explained my issues with dairy and eggs. They immediately started checking on what I would be able to enjoy. Most of the meat they serve is good to go. They even confirmed which bbq sauce I could enjoy. They went above and beyond to make sure I was good. I highly recommend this restaurant. I had the pulled pork (no bun because it contained ingredients I can't eat) it was amazing. I'll definitely be going back.

    Jalepeno margarita

Only a year old and already making a name for themselves within the community: great service, atmosphere, food and drinks. Not only do they have a solid set menu, they also offer unique and inspired daily/weekly specials. From the jalapeño margarita (16 oz glass) and fried okra appetizers, to the smoked tri-tip sandwich and tri-tip plate with a jalepeno cheddar sausage (sides: mac and cheese, and broccoli and cheddar casserole), finished with a classic banana pudding; we cannot wait to come back. All dishes were texturally perfect, seasoned with balance, and priced very thoughtfully for the portion size. We have been looking for a go to BBQ place in Augusta, and this place is it, with intention in all they do.

Brisket was not great but not bad, I was a little disappointed and the collards were I don't know about it but I will try again given I stay in Riverwood.

We've been here twice now and it is definitely our favorite BBQ around. Everything is made fresh. The staff is amazing and so helpful. The banana pudding is delicious. I wish I had gotten a picture. We haven't tried anything that we haven't liked. Sunday is our day to go since my husband enjoys the smoked wings!

Tri tip, turkey, collards, mac&cheese, broccoli & rice casserole, nachos

The young girl that took our order was extremely nice and very helpful with suggestions. Everything we got was really good. The nachos, tri tip, turkey, mac & cheese, collards and broccoli/rice casserole. The cole slaw was some of the best I've had. Not cheap but you get huge portions of meat and the quality was great. Well worth the money.

I feel like I'm back in Texas with this brisket, fried okra and green beans! Hands down THE best in CSRA..

Excellent pulled pork. I wish they would serve smaller portions for a smaller price! The barbecue plate is enough for two people.

It wasn't bad or anything but wasn't anything about the food that stood out. It's middle of the road barbecue.

But went for a 3rd time tonight and tried some different items. Got the brisket Mac and cheese, Cuban Reuben Sandwich, and buffalo chicken dip. The brisket was super dry and had no taste and the mac tasted like it was out of a box and super dry as well. The chicken dip was just meh. The Cuban Reuben was my mistake as I thought it was just a Reuben. It was small and had hardly and corned beef and what little was there was super dry. So basically it was a Cuban with sauerkraut.
