Our server checked on us often, five stars for service. Food was served immediately. For me, the flavor was just okay, high score for the food plating. It's an Asian restaurant, so, it doesn't really specialize in a particular Asian cuisine, so, if you're unsure if you want the Japanese flair and still have that Chinese inspired fried rice or the rangoon, available, this is your place. Augusta is an anomaly to me, but there's no confusion about this sushi bar. So good. We are following a 'dry July' so our bartender made us some lavish and wonderfully interesting NA drinks. Sushi was phenomenal. The Duck Bao was good enough to make me want to return to Augusta just for it. Noting to say but excellent. We started with the spring rolls and blistered Shishitos. Don't miss the peppers. Spring rolls, a usually simple dish, were elevated by this talented kitchen staff. Speaking of staff, although we has a server in training who made a misstep or two, a talented a seasoned server was right behind her guaranteeing a successful meal. What else could you ask for? Ate at this spot the other day after a friend strongly recommended it to me. The spot is in downtown Augusta and had a modern interior with good service, but I have had much better sushi/Japanese food at all price ranges. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, two pieces of albacore tuna, and had a few pieces of the hurricane roll. Albacore tuna (3.5/5): The albacore tuna was 2 pieces with some ponzu jelly, yuzu kosho (pepper), and scallion. The tuna itself tasted pretty fresh, standard albacore tuna. The ponzu jelly had an interesting texture, and both this and the yuzu pepper gave it a tart refreshing taste. Tonkotsu ramen (1/5): This was the definite low of the meal. I am a huge fan of ramen and have had it in places ranging from the smallest cities in America to the top spots in Tokyo. I tried the broth first and noticed it had pretty minimal pork flavor. It tasted a lot more strongly of mushroom and was on the salty side. The noodles themselves were extremely overcooked. Ramen noodles are meant to be bouncy with a nice chew, but the ones in my bowl were extremely mushy and would disintegrate on chewing as if they had sat in the boiling water for many minutes longer than the appropriate duration. The pork charsiu was very dry and tough. Most of the time this is supposed to be a very rich, tender piece of meat. I will say the ramen egg was well cooked with a nice jammy yolk. Hurricane roll (2/5): This is a pretty standard salmon/yellow tail roll that you could get at most sushi spots. Just that it came with only 8 pieces for $19 with some spicy mayo on the side. The small rice krispies on the top of it didn't really add anything to the experience. Overall, I was a bit disappointed from a food standpoint. It reminds me of the places that serve every asian cuisine in small towns instead of specializing (I have never seen pho or pork belly fried rice on the menu of excellent sushi/japanese restaurants). At premium pricing, you would expect slightly higher quality or at least every option to be above average, which was definitely not the case. read more

Wow great experience at this little gem on Broad Street. Unlike many which claim to be Sushi restaurants, this one delivers! They have many items on the Sushi Bar and a real Japanese Chef preparing the Nigiri and rolls. I was particularly impressed they had Uni, Amaebi, Ikura, smoked eel, and Toro on the bar. I had the chef Ito Sousaku Nigiri special. $46 for special 4 pieces. - a5 wagyu, bluefin tuna belly otoro, red snapper, cured salmon. The quality Unagi (eel) $8 and Uni (sea urchin) $20 from Hokkaido Japan were absolutely delicious. And seaworthy bites in my mouth. Also, the chef choice 8 piece $38. All was delicious fresh and great quality fish taste and texture. I hope Augusta can wrap their fingers around trying this gem of quality nigiri experience. I like the concept of this restaurant. The service and decor is excellent. The music is too loud for all the hard surfaces to have a conversation. The food was not up to snuff for this restaurant group. The sushi was average. The avocado appetizer was tasty but overpriced for the portion. My pho was not good at all. The broth was extremely oily. I've never had an oily pho and it covered the noodles that made them feel slimy in the mouth. It barely had a beef flavor let alone the depth of flavors I come to expect and enjoy from pho. The ube cheesecake was delicious, not too sweet and had great textures! The sushi needs an upgrade in quality for the price. The pho needs a remake of the recipe as oily, watered down bouillon is not palatable. read more

We lucked out while in Augusta selecting 990 Broad for dinner. The food was wonderful, appetizer was blistered shishito peppers with a crunchy chili topping, fresh and delicious. Had the Otoro and Unagui, and a special snapper Nigiri with a yuzu infusion, freshest most delicious, after this we ordered a shrimp tempura maki roll, crunchy and again fresh with a bit of crunch on top. Dessert was an incredible creme brûlée made with a special greeningredient which I cannot recall, and a drop of coffee on top. That was very good. This place is amazing. A real gem in augusta. Just tried it for the first time tonight and will be back again soon. Nigiri is top notch. Even the soy sauce and ponzu were something special. It might not be an every week dinner spot, but great for a nice dinner and special occasion. Recently opened 990 Broad Sushi takes over the location where Phoramenl was and boy, they have done a phenomenal job. Everything from the food to the service to the atmosphere is top tier. Hands down my favorite food in Augusta. Chef Ito is so kind and he's running a tight ship. I would love to see a vegetable or seafood ramen/pho but I will gladly eat everything else. read more

Walked in and ate at sushi bar. If you are going to dine, recommend reservations. This place is nice! I had the bao bun and was fantastic. My less adventurous fellow had one (came in 2) and he liked it. I asked for cilantro on the side and they didn't give me a side eye which was appreciated. I had the snow crab California and this is not your average roll. I live in Atlanta and from Chicago so I've been to some swanky joints. This was outstanding. Fresh, flavorful, no fish smell, the sauces and topping were exquisite. You really felt like the servers were proud to serve you this food. If I had to do again I would try another roll instead of the bao but really wanted to share that with my friend. He had shrimp fried rice. I had a taste and it was good. Came here for date night while in Augusta. We made reservations but I'm not sure if you need to, because there were only a few other parties there at 5:30pm on a Saturday. It's not very big inside though so keep that in mind. My boyfriend got a cocktail called In Bloom that he said was just alright, but we loved the bamboo-shaped cup it came in. For an appetizer we shared the pork belly bao and it was delicious. Had a little kick to it. We also tried one of their specials, I think it was called sake aioli nigiri? It had salmon, some kind of truffle aioli, and caviar. It was DECADENT. I can't remember the last time I was blown away by food. And I usually can't taste the truffle in things but that hit me immediately. It was also my first time trying caviar and it lived up to the hype. It was $20 for two pieces but we ended up ordering another plate, it was that good. We then shared a kamikaze roll which was also tasty. It was spicy but not too bad. Our server was very friendly and was helpful with the few questions we had. Overall I'd definitely come back here and will probably be thinking of that nigiri for a long time. read more

I am so excited for 990 Broad! I have been going to Atlanta for Sushi and now Chef Ito of Umi Sushi has come to us in Augusta! But even better! This is better than every place I have been in Atlanta including Umi. I am so ecstatic to have this delicious restaurant to go to. Even down to the creme Brulee 5 stars all around!
