I was excited to try this bakery. It is in a great location. Just off of the highway in Grovetown, where they are seriously Snelling the area. This is their second location. The first one is on Washington rd in Augusta. They offer some frozen meals in a cooler by the door, cinnamon and other types of buns, cupcakes, cakes, and lemon bread. They all look delicious. I visited on their grand opening weekend, so I'm sure they are still working out kinks. There were no signs on any of the items, and our first encounter was with the man at the bakery who was slightly rude. We will visit again in a month or so and give them a second try. They finally opened back up after the COVID-19 closure. Previously I called ahead to order my pecan rolls, a lemon bread, and a loaf of fresh baked white bread. I will tell you, do NOT miss out on their pecan rolls or other variations of cinnamon rolls. They are amazing! So huge too. The pecan rolls have such a good caramel stickiness to them. You can definitely serve 2 people off of one they are so large. I called ahead today to see if they had any peanut butter cookies, they had 4 left and set them aside for me. After cancelling a cake order for a ceremony, I called a day before the event to request a cupcake order instead with less than 24 hours notice. Not only did the bakery take my order, it will was ready at the designated time. What's incredible was the fact this was accomplished with a staffing shortage! In town for work and stumbled upon a little slice of heaven, an authentic Mennonite Bakery. Being from Pa and now residing in NC 2 things I have seriously missed eating first is a proper Cheesesteak sandwich (Philadelphians know exactly what I'm talking about ) and the second is a STICKY BUN! Not a cinnamon bun and not those buns sold in the local mall either. I could not get into this shop fast enough and it did not disappoint. This is the absolute worst bakery I've ever been to in my life. To be fair, the desserts in the cases look like a sloppy 3rd grade mess. Nothing is uniform or neat just icing and nuts haphazardly everywhere. The worst part though is definitely the taste. Truly disgusting dry and stale tasting cookies and cakes. Great service! Everyone working here was so sweet from the telephone order to pickup. I called the day before and asked about their most popular items on my way out of Augusta. So, I ordered a cinnamon, cream cheese, and ham and cheese roll. This little bakery is unassuming and in an established shopping center off of Washington Road. I pulled in, hopped out the car, and went in to grab my goodies which were ready to go. Of course, a sugar cookie bar caught my eye so I added that. And...I really really wanted a key lime cupcake. But I didnt get it (FTW! - proud smile). Everything was super affordable and froze well. My favorite was the cream cheese roll (think danish) and sugar cookie bar. Oh yes yes yes. I've been bitten by some mediocre cupcakes and dry pastries in this town but you've gotta kiss a few frogs to get your prince, right? By my count, I've been to 8 bakery/cupcake shops in the Evans/Augusta area and this is by far the best one so far. It's quite an unassuming little shop and the storefront doesn't lend much confidence in their craft but don't judge a book by it's cover in this case. I'd have to agree with Ann Marie D. when she says they don't have a huge selection of pastries but what they do, they do SO WELL. Words like whoopie pie and snickernoodle make me all hot and bothered and seeing a cupcake the size of my palm with delicious buttercream frosting? Well, there are just no words for that kind of diabetic glory my body feels when I cut the bottom off and make a cupcake sandwich. They also sell frozen family sized meals in their reach in cooler but as I was only there for pies and easily consumable goodies, I can only comment that it all looked quite impressive. They do also sell day old pastries for a really fair price if you have a microwave handy and like a heartier treat. They don't use preservatives or additives like most bakeries so don't expect a Little Debbie or Tasty Kake type consistency from day old pastries. This bakery gets a 5 from me not only because of the ooey gooey Danishes and frosting, but because the girl behind the counter knows her stuff and loves her job. Having a mighty fine cupcake to snack on is one thing but having a nice conversation and getting some really good recommendations on what to choose for a 12 pack of cupcakes from someone who is enthusiastic about her work really pushes this places over the top. Yum. As many times as I've been to Carolina Pottery, I'm not sure how this place flew under my radar for so long. Friendly staff, though there was only one girl working the counter/register and she could gave used a hand. They didn't have a HUGE assortment of things, but sometimes I find that's better. Do a few things and do them right. For just under $13 I purchased a huge whoopie pie, 6 cookies and a 2 pack of yesterday's cream cheese sweet rolls. 1. It's been about 18 hours since I was there. Those 6 cookies? Gone. No, I did not have any help. Chocolate chip- soft buttery, yum! M&MS- pretty much the same as chocolate chip, my complaint here is the same as with every M&MS cookie I come across- not enough candies. Throw in extra or add some chocolate chips too. Oatmeal Raisin- nothing wrong with it at all, it was good. But I have a gold standard when it comes to Oatmeal Raisin cookies and this wasn't it. Snickerdoodle- light as air, yummy flavor. Ate it for breakfast so it may have been even softer yesterday. Sugar Cookie - good cookie, good frosting. I hate it when a sugar cookie relies on one of its parts to "carry it" great balance! 2. Cream cheese Sweet Rolls- the dough had a nice rise and texture, but flavor was a little lacking. It was just the sweet roll dough with the cream cheese frosting, no spices. Yes, I bought the "yesterday's buns, but honestly as a baker I know that's a good deal if you have the option. Do you make sweet rolls at home and eat all of them at once? Nope! If I bought this type of item again I'd try the actual cinnamon roll or maybe the raspberry cream cheese roll. 3. Did you see the picture of my hand with the cookies? Whoopie pie was bigger. Soft cake, with a nice moist crumb, but sturdy enough to be a "sandwich" the frosting filling was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had. The cake wasn't a punch in the face chocolate flavor either. A nice balanced whoopie pie. They also had a cooler filled with casseroles that you could buy to go and an assortment of other goodies. The cupcakes were HUGE, they had some turnovers, the "pretty" sugar cookies (ones I try to stay away from), and it would appear they also to drinks. I don't think there's a bakery in Augusta that can top this one. There might be one in the CSRA that is a hard tie (Pineland Bakery, Waynesboro). They are not fancy designer cupcakes. They are just really good, moist, not too sweet cupcakes. Their red velvet cake (and cupcakes) is one of the best I've ever tasted. I put in an order every Thanksgiving and Christmas for RV and/or German Chocolate every year. Be warned, they're usually closed a couple days before a holiday. This is not the place to pick up a last minute cake. They completely sell out before closing prior to the holiday. Do yourself a favor and order ahead. The danish-all the danish are good. Ditto for the cookies. I'm happy that they changed their hours as it was pretty difficult to try and get there by 2pm. I already know I won't find another like you in Memphis Lil' Dutch! My family loves their bread. My kids devour it. It doesn't last long in my house. I've tried lots of goodies and never been disappointed. One of my favorite rolls isn't even sweet. It's a ham and cheese roll. It's packed with cheese, over flowing in fact. Good chunks of ham, gooey cheddar cheese, served warm. So amazing you'll want to buy a whole tray! My kids love the cookies and cupcakes. Great prices, delicious and family owned! I still haven't tried the premade frozen dinners you just take home a throw in the oven. Not the place it used to be. Especially when it comes to the baked goods. Most of the baked goods were wrapped individually. Skeptical, about the freshness, but chose to buy anyway. Purchased a sticky bun and a cinnamon raisin bun. Chose 4 cupcakes, lemon, yellow cake, peach cobbler and cookies and cream. My favorite has always been the cinnamon sticky rolls, once unwrapped I could tell they should've been placed on the day old display. Tried the lemon cupcake, very cold. Not unusual, so I let it sit on the counter to soften up. Ewwww.... Cake was crumbly and the frosting wasn't butter cream soft. Trashed. Tasted husband Oreo cupcake frosting. Once again it wasn't fresh. This has always been my go to bakery. No longer. I can only speculate on why the quality of baked goods have gone down. My thing is advertise them as day old if they are day old. Don't allow me to get home and be disappointed. Compare this to Krispy Kreme. You know when your donuts are really hot or not. Coming from a warmer doesn't make them hot. What makes them hot, is when they're coming right off of the conveyor belt. This place is too expensive for day old goods. NOM NOM NOM! I've passed by this place a million times and decided to check it out on a whim one day. They have a pretty good selection of cupcakes, cakes, cookies and other treats. They also sell casseroles for a pretty reasonable price! I tried the red velvet cheesecake cupcake. It had a layer of cheesecake at the bottom and red velvet on top w/ cream cheese icing. Stopped by with my sweetie after having breakfast. I was excited and my smile widened as my eyes laid upon the cupcake, cookies and brownies. I settled on a white chocolate macadamian nut cookie and lemon bar. There was a variety of beautiful sweets and I seriously wanted to devour everything! To the right of the store there were refrigerators that held meals to reheat such as sweet potato casserole, mac and cheese, twice baked potato and other delectable delights. It also wasn't so overly sweet or overdone with the sweet frosting so we could actually enjoy it. Last time we purchased some of the chocolate peanut butter cupcakes and wow!
