Wow, my 1 star review has been removed so I'm re-submitting. We tried them twice and both times we were disappointed. 1st time we ordered breakfast. They were well staffed, a little more than half full. We waited 35 minutes for our breakfast after ordering. 2nd time I came alone, ordered a cocktail and food. After 25 minutes no food and I ordered another drink. I finished that drink and still no food so I left enough cash to cover the drinks and walked out. read more

When we checked in though others were being told it was an hour wait, so be ready to wait if you get there at peak times. We didn't make a reservation so there was a wait. Nothing too terrible but we were informed promptly with our table for 2. Daelen was our waitstaff and she was absolutely amazing. She gave us great recommendations and the food didn't disappoint. I had the jambalaya and my daughter had the shrimp and grits with a side of pancakes. The food was so flavorful and a reasonable portion. Daelen checked on us several times and made sure our beverages were always filled. There was a nice crowd but not crowded and not loud. Hubby and I stopped in for breakfast while in town. Not sure why this place is displaying a three stars. For me and hubby the service, the food the interior decorations and comfiest is definitely a five star. From my first bite of the shrimp and grits all the seasonings and flavor of the shrimp, andouille sausage, cheese filled my mouth. The cheese was definitely cheesy, great consistency and not watery. My hubby and the omelette supreme which was bursting with meat and by the no trace of food left confirms he enjoyed it as well. We were greeted with a big smile as soon as we walked in. I'm a fan of your standard $10-20 brunch spot that's nice to bring a family or significant other to, so I was happy to see Augusta have one. Service here is pretty darn good. 15 minute wait for a table when we were told 35 was some good luck, but service was quick, pleasant, and responsive even though they were full (it also helps to be nice to your staff ). If you've been to Another Broken Egg Cafe before, this is definitely the good standard they set out to be. Been a fan of this brunch chain and decided to try out the franchise in Augusta. The menu seems to be standard across the franchise, so we ordered entrees we were familiar with; the biscuit & gravy, eggs Benedict, traditional starter, pancakes, and waffles. The gravy was a little too salty for me, but loved the crisp way the biscuit was cooked. Their buttermilk pancakes were decent, but the waffles topped with fresh blueberries were great! Unfortunately there was an error where the kitchen did not pack the traditional starter and forgot the eggs to the benedict. We called back and the manager Mr. Ramos was quick to issue us a refund for the missing items and resolve the issue; great customer service. Next time I plan on dining in because I do truly enjoy their food. Highly recommend this place for breakfast or brunch if you like breakfast food like me. We had our first visit and was quite impressed with the aesthetics-the rest of our experience, however was not as impressive. Starting with the positive, the staff are outstanding, Chris? our server was pleasant,knowledgeable and attentive. The coffee is really good. My husband had the hash and he was pleased with his meal. I had the crab cake Benedict and I was not as pleased. The crab cake was pretty good, but the egg was not poached well, it was solid and the English muffin was not toasted well, it was somewhat soft. Instead of potatoes, I had the fruit and it was delicious. The manager stopped by to inquire about our meal. She sincerely wanted our feedback and when it was provided, she was very receptive and committed to improving. So overall, the strengths of the aesthetics, service and the hash balanced the weakness of the Benedict, moreover the manager is committed to excellence. I left a less than great review of this new Augusta breakfast spot shortly after they opened and am now wondering if they were "getting their sea legs" and needed time to get into a groove. My daughter invited me to breakfast here with her and her bestie on a Wednesday morning. The menu seemed to have some different items on it. DD ordered chicken and waffles, bestie got crab cakes Benedict and I got a mardi gras omelette. Our excellent waiter Joe suggested I add mushrooms and spinach to the omelette which he said was his favorite menu item. The omelette was already stuffed with Louisiana crawfish, gulf shrimp, andouille and red peppers, then topped with tomato hollandaise, tomatoes and green onions and the addition of spinach and mushrooms was perfect. It was served with a small English muffin that was not really toasted very well and some home potatoes. I ate a few potatoes and they were fine but not really worth the carbs. Overall everyone was very pleased with their food. DD got a fancy salted caramel drink that she liked except that the glass was rimmed with table salt and a lot of it so it was overly salted near the top. I had coffee which Joe kept topping off without even being asked. Service was very good. The ambiance is that kind of grey/white generic restaurant decor but is comfortable and not too loud. No distracting TVs or loud music to interrupt conversation. The total bill with tip was $81.00 so it's not a cheap breakfast but at least it was delicious this time around. read more

First time trying this place out and it won't be the last! I was able to find a seat at the bar and enjoyed half a BLT&A a bow of the gumbo. Absolutely delicious. The Abe Bloody Mary was one of the best bloody Mary's I've had. Sitting at the bar was a great experience. She was busy but kept up with everyone at the bars order and kept the conversation flowing. Oh this place. Well, this place but not this location per se. The first (and only other experience was one in Atlanta). I mean I love breakfast like some UGA fans love bulldogs and kids love playing in the dirt. It is my favorite meal, any time of day. And this is the focal point of ABEC. My experience with the one in ATL was amazing. I don't remember the menu items (I know, I was young in my foodie days and not committing meals to memory like I should), but I remember the reaction when I saw one coming to Augusta. Exhilaration! I will mention this is based on my second visit (and actual time at) as the first time the wait was two hours and forty five minutes. Obviously I was not the only one who knew how good this place is. I will mention the location is tucked away on Washington Road and if you haven't been to that Kroger in awhile you may think your GPS is lying to you. It isn't. They literally built a small set of storefronts to the right of it (in the parking lot). Which means finding a parking spot will not be a issue. And if you have a EV, there are charging stations near it. So this day I got lucky and was seated immediately. I opted for patio seating as the weather was perfect. *Now if you do have a wait there is a small putting green and Cornhole available to pass the time. I asked about the coffee and was immediately impressed that they offer a medium and dark roast then more impressed that both are a three bean blend then overly impressed that the beans are ground fresh before brewing. Needless to say, I had a cup of both. Both were smooth and flavorful, but I did favor the dark roast. Mainly because I had such a sweet menu item (but we'll get to that later). The team member serving us was friendly and helpful (case in point, all the coffee knowledge). Another team member (possibly the manager or owner?) made a few rounds to see how everyone was doing. I went for the County Power Bowl as it contains everything that is right about breakfast; scrambled eggs, country ham, onions, tomatoes, cheddar jack cheese grits and covered (more like smothered-that's a compliment) with country sausage gravy. But wait, it also comes with a biscuit (flaky, airy, moist) and two pieces of bacon. See? I told you it has everything you could ever want. It was delicious. Now if you haven't been wading in the Southern food pool in awhile, make sure you have a hydrated lifejacket (aka lots of water). But I couldn't pass up a opportunity to try pancakes. Imagine my joy upon learning the two (as a side dish) could be regular or flavored. One of those flavors; bourbon street-bananas, pecan bits, rum butter sauce drizzle, and a little whipped cream on top. Are you hungry yet? Now you see why I needed two cups of coffee to stay awake for the meal. Those pancakes were a work of art both on the plate and in my mouth. The varying textures, the aromas rising from the warmth, the sweetness balanced out with the praline was all so masterful. Needless to say I shall return. I signed up for their waitlist an hour before I got there, and once there I waited another hour, and after ordering it took almost another hour for the food to come. When the food came it wasn't even hot or warm, it was like room temperature which was weird because if I'm waiting for that long i expected they just made the food fresh. And we ordered a appetizer of their beignets which were promised to come out before the entrees but ended up coming out about the same time as the food. Besides the wait time, the Apple fritter French toast I got was ok, the flavor was good and I loved the sauce they put on it. It seemed a better option than the ones my friends got which was an omelette which was mostly egg and had very little toppings in it, and I ordered two poached eggs medium and they gave me one well cooked egg that was basically a hard boiled egg. The beignets also seemed overfried and kind of dry. We went right at opening on a Saturday and were the second people in the building. Awesome timing for a new brunch restaurant as we know ABE's can have long wait times! Hubby and I got both kinds of coffee so we could try compare flavor profiles-he loves bitter and the Columbian was right up his alley! The Barista Blend had floral notes and was very good! The biscuit beignets with apricot jam are a favorite of mine and a must have; they were cooked to perfection! He got the Mardi-gras omelette and he said it was amazing! The chicken and waffles is typically served with a spicy honey, but I'm not about that life; they were able to swap it for regular syrup which was super delicious! After thirty minutes, we went back inside to get an update and the hostess told us we had four groups ahead of us. Decided to have breakfast here after grocery shopping at Kroger. I expected a better experience than we received. We received our food after a family of 3 came in and the food was cold. I felt no need to complain because I don't like the idea of sending food back....should've been hot from the beginning.. the crab cake was cold as well as the English muffin and the hollandaise sauce. The only good thing about the meal was the poached eggs. The grits were also like warm. My guy seemed to enjoy his meal but I was overall disappointed with the temperature of the food with it being a simple dish...crab cake Benedict and grits..... I had to ask for water and the waitress was training another young lady and I done out frequently and usually water is standard without asking....the restaurant wasn't busy at the time so it wasn't noisy just normal atmosphere. Finally I was able to dine at the newest breakfast spot in town. It has been very busy but we got in for a great breakfast experience. We arrived around 1:30 with a 25 minutes wait time. The host and our waitress were the sweetest and very accommodating. I really liked the bourbon pancakes and the Mardi Gras omelette was very tasty. My daughter thought the shrimp n grits was good but wasn't too fond of the gravy texture. However she ate almost the whole meal lol. Alright, so for my first experience, this was really excellent, and I enjoyed every bit of it, period. I am very glad. I ordered through DoorDash, especially seeing how busy this restaurant was but I had no trouble waiting period mind you, the line was long and you had to wait a little bit but once I let the hostess. Know that I was expecting an order. She said go straight to the bar, and I waited for a good bit. It was no problem, though. I enjoyed how the food was. Especially the lemon pound cake French toast I had it was so good and I can't wait to try more dishes in the future. The ambiance was just as wonderful as the food was. Just had an amazing experience here coming off a night shift. I've been a few times and the food is usually good, staff is friendly in a recently opened working hard to make a good impression way. The food has always been remarkably good for local break fast shops and the drinks fun. Today though, Joe went above and beyond. He was busting his butt bussing tables, and still made me a heck of a Bloody Mary and got my breakfast (fantastic huevos rancheros for those curious) out in a jiffy. Kudos to all of the staff. We're so excited for the new opening of the cafe and decided to try out. Waiting time is something to improve. We got in the waitlist with over an hour wait, then when we checked in it was another 25 minutes and about 35 minutes for a mocktail then another 15 minutes for food to be served. We first ordered a shrimp & grits and a hash brown Benedict but after 15-20 minutes it was told that they were out of hash brown so had to reorder crab cake benedict instead. Really the kitchen should have checked and told ahead that hash brown was out instead of letting us wait for a while before letting us know. Next is about the drink. We ordered a pineapple strawberry mocktail but after a really long wait, the drink doesn't even have strawberry puree in it, despite it's like 1 of the 2 important things in the drink, not to mention the bar didn't even garnish with mint like how the menu said. The server was pretty nice to explain that the bar was out of pineapple juice and strawberry puree. Again, the bar should have checked and told ahead instead of keep having it in the menu for people to order. Then after the wait, we had our food served. My husband had the shrimp & grits which he said was pretty delicious. My crab cake benedict wasn't so well. Everything else was pretty ok except for the poached eggs. I wanted it easy, runny inside but they were like hard boiled egg tbh. Really, eggs should be one of the easiest things in the menu to make. Also, my eggs even have big piece of egg shell in there. We told the server and he was very sorry for that and tried to help out. So after a very bad experience, what we couldn't stand is how the manager (the guy wearing red t-shirt) handled the situation. We knew he knew about the incidence with the drink so what he should have done is to check in with us at least and also after I found out egg shell in the food he should have done something but he was just ignored. He checked other tables once in a while but not us. Seems like he just didn't want to get in trouble so just let the server deal with it. My husband had to eventually come straight to him and talk, only then that he started to apologize, though not seem to be very sincere, and agreed to take off the drink and benedict from our bill. Overall, the only good thing here is our server, Darquaevein J, that's why I gave 2-star rating instead of 1. Everything else is disappointed. Price is high relative to food taste and amount of food. I'd rather go to First Watch, which have much better customer service and more delicious food; waiting time is long but things move quick and they know how to run the business. read more

It is impossible to get anyone on the phone if you call and they advertise curbside pickup however you can not get anyone to pickup the phone even when the inside is dead. Don't offer a service if you can't handle it. Very frustrating first experience. We visited on New Year's Day to enjoy a nice meal, and while we understand staffing might be limited on a holiday, we had made a reservation. We arrived at 12:45 pm and were seated around 1:15 pm. However, after sitting there for 35 minutes without being offered a glass of water or any service, we had to approach the hostess to ask why we hadn't been attended to. We just ended up leaving and going to another restaurant. I hope the restaurant and staff can do better during holidays as this experience was really disappointing. read more

Joe is amazing this restaurant is exceptional. If you want average you won't get it here. The coffee comes fresh with everything top tier you could need or want. The choices on the menu are new and exciting. I had Bourbon pecan pancakes with sliced bananas. The potatoes come seasoned the bacon was perfect. My husband has lobster hash. For the quality,fresh choices and 10 star service stop here. If you want middle of the road everyday then this is not for you. The clean deco is fabulous. Nothing is cluttered or over done. My wife and I arrived Sunday morning at 7:15 am. No other customers when we arrived. We were seated and ordered Eggs Benedict and City Grits. My wife ordered her eggs to be poached light. Both of her eggs came out poached hard (as did one of mine). Both the grits were cold like they had just come out of the refrigerator. Not surprised we were the only diners. Will not be surprised if this place does not close permanently if there is not an overhaul in management/staff very soon. Would be a shame because I've eaten at this restaurant in other city's everything on the menu had alway been delicious, they just need to find someone to manage and cook here in Augusta. read more
