Another delicious evening, but this time with a guitar player on the back patio. Excellent!!!

Pan roasted chicken...the chicken was cooked perfectly. I was lost on the tomatoes as they add nothing to the dish. Gravy was excellent.

The menu isn't vast, but they have an excellent wine selection and all day happy hour on Tuesdays. A quality selection that makes most envy. The ambience was relaxed and upscale, but surprisingly busy and louder than expected, but not offensively so retracting. Service was excellent. Reservations are advised and there is a very of seating options.

Ecco has one of my favorite meals ever - their beef stroganoff is soooo delicious with beef and mushrooms for every bite. The back patio area is super cute as well - perfect for a date night.

So happy we live nearby this delicious spot! We finally made it over to ECCO on a Friday night. We were greeted and offered a table on the patio even though we didn't have a reservation. It was just about sundown and it was a lovely spot to sit and watch the dusk settle in. Our waitress was very nice and well-informed about the menu. I also loved that gluten free options were labeled already. I ordered a glass of Pinot Noir and my husband and gin & tonic. They were both great. We had the brussel sprouts for a starter and they were the perfect blend of sweet and savory with a little bit of crisp to them. I had the Honey Roasted Carrots as an entree and I did not leave a bit of it on my plate. The title of the dish may not sounds like much but the carrots, honey, pesto, and hummus combine together to create a delectable dish! My husband had a pasta dish and when it came out, he realized he should have gotten the half size. It was massive and he loved it! We boxed up half and he finished it off the next day. I can't wait to come back soon!

This place is always busy, if you can make a reservation, do it! We got to sit at the bar and the service was awesome. A little loud off a place I would say, but not a big deal for me. I got the mushroom pasta and it was delicious, and a great list of wine by the glass. I will be back to try more of the menu.

Ecco is a great local spot for contemporary fine dining. It gives hipster vibes. Very midtown. The cocktails are some of the best in town. Their mushroom pasta is always incredible. Service is great. I'll admit, I've had some undercooked lamb and some unset panna cotta here. Overall though it was always a great experience so I'll definitely be back.

Honest and detailed review. I've been to Ecco four times (including today) total since 2021. It's been a 50% success ratio on flavor and service. Whether they were understaffed OR the food was just bland needing flavor (salt). The two times that Ecco was good, it was really great! Today was a complete fail and I think will be my last time going to Ecco. I came in for the Hawaiian Ribeye that was advertised on their IG. It looked immaculate, I was blown away. I come in to order it, waiter told me there may only be one left. She found out it was and it was mine. So the ribeye comes out with the butter on top. Looks GOOD. I saved room and didn't eat lunch with the expectation of being blown away. I ignored the fact that the ribeye was somewhat flat. Cut into it and it is RAW. I always eat medium rare, it's the only way to eat a steak! This was RAW. The Brussel sprouts were the best thing on the plate! Actually really good. The potatoes were devoid of flavor, I couldn't even taste the parm. No salt at all. The ribeye was a pretty rubbish cut. I can go to Sam's and purchase a thick, fat ribeye for $36 dollars or a Wagyu Strip from Kroger for $30. $42 for a cut that I probably could get at Chili's. I don't ask for comps on meals. The server was great, I tipped her 25% for being so kind. I ate the food they brought back out reheated just because I was hungry. It sucks that management didn't even come out to apologize for this awful blip. I think some Memphis restaurants are comfortable because they've been here for a while. The people who come to eat food are looking for quality eats. I'm not asking for Michelin star, I've had plenty of that. Just give us the quality food AND service we know that Memphis food can provide.

First walking in, it looked a little tightly packed BUT, it was just fine. It's a hidden gem near the park. Now my friend group and I had multiple dishes that we all enjoyed but I would recommend having a reservation. Along with the great service, the ambiance is a low lit, earthy atmosphere that pairs with a heavy whiskey and wine selection that gives an upscale vibe. Date night? Yes. Solo night? Yes. Coming with friends? Yes. Come. Our server was Shari was great and very attentive. Ask for her! I had quite the pleasant experience.

Not great, but not bad either. Really appreciated the Salad Lyonnaise which isn't common on menus (reminded us of our time in Lyon)... The worst part of our meal was the service. Slow, unpredictable, unfriendly, inconsistent... The second worst was the ambiance. That little outhouse we ate in was dirty. Flies everywhere... Memphis restaurants... lemme tell you. But we did have some really good food here. I mentioned the salad. The stroganoff was tasty. Excellent bucatini and a really good mushroom pasta. They botched a risotto which is about as easy to make as any Italian dish (how do you even botch that). Overall, we wouldn't go back. But this place is popular so they don't need our patronage...

I'm a fan of the area. The evergreen community is gorgeous. Street parking is your best bet which is fine because we all could use a nice walk sometimes. The atmosphere is really cool and causal, good for a date night, friend date or some necessary alone time. the cocktails were really good and I appreciate them having a happy hour! Last but the most important , the food was great! Everything was fresh and had alot of flavor. I enjoyed everything I ordered. Of course, salt and pepper to taste as you wish. The crab claws are fantastic. What we ordered: - Crab Claw aglio e olio - spaghetti chorizo bolognese - seafood pasta - linguini alle cozze

Great Tuesday night happy hour drop in. Great seats by the window and fantastic service. Started with the salad Lyonnaise, then to the Branzino and finished with cheese cake ( no puree). Sausage Orecchiette also fire. Ambiance is homey, vibrant, and loud

I love the sauce, and you can definitely tell the oysters are fresh. Next, we had the steak and mashed potatoes -- the steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The lobster bisque was my starter, and it was honestly one of the best I've had in a while. The only small disappointment was the dessert , pineapple upside down cake. It seemed a little overcooked because it had a slightly burnt taste at the bottom. Overall, the service is always 10/10, and I'd give the food a solid 9/10. Definitely one of my favorite places in Memphis for a quality dining experience. i'd like to come back again and watch the sunset from the patio.

Our server was barely attentive to our table. She went around checking on other tables near us, but hardly came to ours at all. The only time she really interacted with us was when she brought the check. No follow-up, no asking how the food was, no drink refills--nothing. It honestly felt like we were overlooked the entire time. To make things worse, she wasn't even the one who brought out our food. Someone else dropped it off, and after that we were basically on our own. For a restaurant at this price point, I expected much more attentive and professional service. The food didn't make up for it either. I ordered the Chilean sea bass, and it was very underwhelming. The fish lacked flavor, the potatoes were soggy, and overall it just wasn't enjoyable. Definitely not what you expect for the price. Overall, between the inattentive service and the disappointing food, the experience just didn't live up to the hype at all.

There was a crawfish festival going on right outside its doors so I checked out some vendors while waiting. When our number was called I headed back to what was a literal zoo! It was so noisy that I couldn't converse with my husband. One customer (hyena) was talking and laughing so loudly from the back bar area that her voice carried to the front and startled me every time she opened her mouth. Just uncouth and inconsiderate. I had seen lots of people outside eating boiled crawfish that was pouring out of the styrofoam containers but my husband suggested I get it here. It was on the menu for $9/ 1/2lb and $15/lb but with a minimum pound order, and today bc they were competing with the festival, they upped the price to $20/lb. I had never had whole crawfish but it looked delicious from the outside vendors. I thought my husband was splitting the order with me but he ordered the Cajun fried rice and a grouper fish sandwich. He also ordered the soft shell crab appetizer. It was okay. It was 1 crab, maybe. I was so disappointed when my food arrived in a bag, especially then learning how to twist off the head of the crawfish and discovering there isn't much to them, so in essence it's a pound of useless head. I also thought the crawfish was bland and not worth the effort. Not the restaurant's fault that I didn't know better. My husband said the grouper upset his stomach and tasted like an oil sandwich. To make matters worse, we sat next to a table of 4 young people cursing and on a video call, 1 who made me hyper alert about my surroundings. I was just turned off by the environment and couldn't enjoy my food so I took the entire meal with us so my husband could eat it later. $80 bill for a meal we didn't enjoy and a loud and uncouth environment.

How in the gash darn hell have I not written a review for The Half Shell Memphis?!?!?…read more I've been coming here since birth. Ok. Maybe not that long. Most definitely since I can remember. My parents had the blandest worst taste for food, so I was a depraved child as far as flavor was concerned. We ate at very blah places and my Mom was the pickiest person in the world, but.... She loved this fried shrimp! So we came here often. I grew up in Parkway Village so we were always nearby. Fast forward to my Yelp days. My first CM, Joelle had a part ownership of this place when I first started Yelping. We even had her going away party here when Yelp ruined the Memphis Elite Program with part time CM's for our city. She was part owner and we hung out there so it seemed inappropriate to write a review. Besides, I knew Danny pretty well too and that was also a conflict. Nowadays it's been bought by the folks that turned Forrest Hill Grill around. They have closed the location on Winchester (which I called years ago) and opened up in Germantown on Poplar. I have no idea who these people are so I guess it's time. I have not been to the new one, but I have seen the menu. I do not have any intentions of rushing to try it. Seems as if they butchered the whole dang menu. Anywho.... I still like this one. It's pretty run down, but the food is still good. It's still the original menu with all the treats. They have a freaking Monte Cristo sandwich folks! I know of less than five places left that still serve them. When is the last time you saw a twice baked potato? Here it is!! They still have a changing weekly, "daily special". They still have an intense regular bar business. Good luck getting a seat at the bar at any given time. Best of all they still have those damn tasty fried shrimp! Oh they are so good! The best ever man. The sauces they serve are great. I've been up and down the menu and it's almost always great. Oysters are some of the best charbroiled that there are anywhere in Shelby County. Long live OG Half Shell! Please never change! '25 - 44/111
