This was my first time trying this place. I wasn't happy with my order. I got what I asked for, but the lobster tail was over cooked and rubbery. It was hard to pull it apart and the meat stuck to the skin. EVERYTHING was drowned in a butter sauce. The sauce was too much so I had to wipe the food off. The crab legs were overcooked as well. It was hard to break them open. The corn was overcooked; it was too soft. There was no crunch left in it. The casing in the sausage was so tough that the meat pushed out when I bit into it but the casing never separated. This is really the worst meal I have had, and it was not cheap. The staff was nice. I visited for lunch and had an awesome dining experience. The seafood here is delicious. I had the lunch special #2. It came with 7 Jumbo Shrimp, 1 Crab Claw, Potatoes, 1 Boiled egg, & A Sausage. It was amazing and more than filling. I had left overs to take home for dinner. You can choose the butter seasoning that you want. I had Cajun. The sauce gives the bowl an awesome burst of flavor. I mean the whole thing is just amazing. You will have to try it. The ordering process is simple. You go in and there's a huge menu on the wall for you to figure your purchase out. JUST HORRIBLE. I spent about $60.00 on a seafood boil, with another dish of crawfish for my partner and I. All dishes were drowned in very very thick, grainy butter. Everything was swimming in it. I don't believe my stomach can take this much grease at once. Also, seafood boils are suppose to be a bit healthy and this dish, swimming in super thick butter that is caked on everything is far, far from healthy. Also, if you have acid reflux (GERD) this dish will be absolutely disastrous. It can cause an attack. I tasted a few shrimp pieces on the dish and I just couldn't go on. The flavor of the seafood is not there. This thick greasy butter sauce is simply not flavorful either. It's nasty. Everything has a thick greasy layer. This 'butter' destroys the taste of the meal. Also, Is this even butter? Butter has some flavor. This gooey mess has no flavor. The crawfish were also swimming in water (which you can't see per the pictures but when the plate is held the crawfish just slosh around in it) and caked up greasy butter. I've never seen that much water in a crawfish dish. It was yucky looking. It's like the guy pulled out the crawfish frozen over in ice and just cooked it in the tray and gave it out with the sauce poured into the water. This is a travesty. Honestly. I've lost my money. But you live and you learn. The portions were generous and I do give that to them, but the thick, flavorless, butter sauce that drowned out the flavor and made everything inedible was too much. Shame. THESE PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW SEAFOOD BOILS AT ALL. I CAN'T EAT THIS! UPDATE: My partner and I were able to salvage some of the seafood boil by wiping down Some of the pieces. Okay, so I feel like I need to write this review because I caught a major attitude in the store Friday night and I'm sure they're talking about it like it was all me. But check it. We started going to KrabKingz early in the game. Like, before COVID. And we would have still been going there, even after if we hadn't gone to another place and seen how big the crabs were in comparison. Plus, it's always just hard to get what you need from there. Anyway, Friday night we decided to try it again and here we go. We first tried to order on DoorDash. We can't because there's no way to select what kind of sauce you want. We think it's probably our bad that we can't find it, but we are committed, so we call up there to try to figure out what to do. No one answers the phone. *sigh* So, we decide to take the first L and just go ahead and order online on their website and go pick it up. Do you know how much NOBODY wants to get up, put on clothes, and DRIVE 20 minutes up there after we're all settled in at home?! Order on website, easy breezy, but I forgot eggs. so, halfway into my drive someone calls and says my order is ready. "This is great!", I think. I ask her, "can you please add the eggs that I forgot to my order. I will pay for them when I get there." She said no. I can only add them when you get there. OK, but I just ordered over $100 worth of food and you think I'm going to stiff you over some $2 eggs? But I'm already on the way AFTER I DIDNT WANT TO BE so whatever. I might as well wait even longer after I get there for the eggs that you could easily add, but nah. *eye roll* Remember, when I said we ordered from the website? Well, I used my card on Google pay. When I get there, the lady tells me I can't have my food unless I have the same card. Ma'am. I did not know this. I just drove 20 minutes to get here and I don't think I have it. However, I do have another card which I am holding in my hand, so can we just use this one? Nooooooo. No, I can't. So, the lady suggests that I call home and get someone to send me a picture of it. That was very nice, but I just already don't want to be here and now this is pissing me off 10 times more than it needs to be. I could have had DoorDash. I could have been at home. Now I'm scrambling to find a credit card when she is holding one that she could use in her hand. It took all the strength that I have in my body not to leave right then and drive to Juicy Crab because at this point I am OVER IT. I don't even want this anymore after all this hassle. But, I found the card in my car and I was able to get the food that I had paid for in advance and had a receipt for. But I was so mad that I forgot the eggs. And then I remember that this exact reason is why we stopped going there. There is always something. There is always just some minor inconvenience that is enough to aggravate you, but they are very intent on instituting and following their own rules and procedures, even to the detriment of the customer. So this is dope!!! I watch crab boils on YouTube so I have been dying to try this place out for awhile now. RESTAURANT QUALITY: you walk in and immediately realize... sitting space is a whole other level of limited. It would probably be good for them to have a crab boil dipping sauce to cancel out the hit and miss flavor of the potatoes. To be honest, my only take away is that I wish they advertised some dipping sauces to use. I seen a little thing of sauces, but I didn't know if they would be good or not since it wasn't brought to attention. My advice is that they look up this chick Belovely seafood crab boils and see what the heck she makes as a sauce because that sauce she is using makes me want to do my own crab boil and make my own sauce to use with it. Got to finally try this place for the first time today. Been hearing good things about them from others for a while now. After my first visit...I was not disappointed! First of all, walking in the aroma hits me. It makes me feel like I've walked into a little seafood shack down at the pier. The scents of seafood and spices hooked me right away. The gentleman behind the counter has to be one of the coolest and nicest guys I've met in a while. Supercool. His recommendation was spot on also. My wife and I decided to stay and eat, but the entire time we were there...people kept coming through ordering and picking up "to go" orders! I really hope these guys do well and stick around for years to come. It's refreshing to have a killer little spot to grab some crab and shrimp boil from. The hype was REAL! If you're on social media I'm pretty sure you've been seeing the Krab Kingz posts about coming to Memphis. To be honest I thought it was spam at first I about them being in Texas but I just couldn't see Memphis. Thank God I was wrong! As I've said more than a few times I'm a proud midtowner, I don't like to drive far. My s/o is always a good sport so we made the trek out to Bartlett(gasp) Great location, nice parking well lit. It's not the biggest location but I felt seating was pretty good for a small busy place. The staff was moving quickly but definitely on their job! We both ordered a #3 krab boil and I added a fried lobster tail. We left stuffed! They give good bang for your buck. They give you the seafood bibs but they look so goofy to me and really don't stop you from being covered in butter! They don't have crab crackers anymore because they grew legs and walked out... but that never stopped anybody from getting down with some crab legs. Absolute worst seafood experience I've ever had! I was excited to try them for the first time and given that I was purchasing what I thought would be a healthy option was totally the opposite. Sit back and enjoy this review. I am a avid seafood lover and was SUPER excited about trying out this place while visiting Memphis. Food:I order a #3 (see menu) and a fried Lobster tail(my first time YAY). Total came out to about $52. I had lemon pepper and Cajun seasoning. SALTY! SALTY! SALTY! We were a party of 5, with also one TO GO order. 2/5 people had fried shrimp-SUPER SALTY. The rest of us had seafood boils. Mine wasnt the worst bc the cajun season helped balance it, but everyone with lemon peppers was a MSG horror. My fried lobster tail which was small for $14 was about 80% salt. the sausage was the BEST thing on my plate. We were going to let it GO, and just eat what we could and leave , but with the high level of disappointment with the food AND the customer service, we were HEATED at this point. Service: The girls who took the orders were young and clearly not well reversed in customer service. They were polite, but non nonchalant and seemingly unbothered by our complaints. Someone in our party spilled pop by the front entrance and we told them MULTIPLE times and no one came to clean it up for over 30+ minutes. I actually got up and cleaned it with some napkins, but it still was liquid everywhere. We had to keep telling people who entered to watch out. It wasnt until we spoke with a manager that she had to have one of them clean it up. (Can you imagine someone slipping and falling because of your lack of care, smh -LAWSUIT) Finally, after we had had enough, we asked for a manager, who asked us to meet her outside, which i thought was strange but I guess to keep other customers happy it makes sense. She was again, polite but not well versed in customer service or professionalism. She even stated that they are trying to get lemon pepper removed from the menu due to all the complaints -__- (i Cant ) Never did we get an apology for the experience, however she did ask what she could do to compensate. Only 1/5 of us had even put a dent in our meal, so we wanted some form of a refund. She left and said she would see what she could do, after about 10-15 minutes, she was leaving out the door and I had to stop her and ask what the outcome was, she was like oh they didnt help you guys out ... WHAT?! She took the receipts and then went to call the owner.. She then came back in after calling the owner to tell us that he said there's a no refund policy (we know, there's a sign on the table) but they could remake our food. I believe she knew that to begin with, so could have saved us so much waiting time and stated that in the beginning. The cook Marquez did come out with me a new fried lobster tail and stated he wanted to make us happy and remake all the food. HE was the BEST service that we had received throughout this entire experience. THANKS to him. They remade Everyones meals over ( we just didn't get a sauce on them but on the side) which we agreed was better than the 1st round, but still nothing to write home about. We all have had better. If you're not an avid seafood lover and just want the salty basics, you might like this place. Im not sure if Memphis just has a low threshold for quality seafood being that this place has 4 stars, but we were NOT impressed. Adjust your seasonings, change the batter consistently, PLEASE do some official customer service training with your staff and management teams. 2 stars- 1 (all the food was remade and we were able to keep the old food). This is my second time at Krab Kingz, but first time at this location on Stage. I strongly feel the same way the food as I did with my first experience, underwhelmed. I don't taste seasoned seafood albeit I see lots of paprika, but still unseasoned and underwhelmed. I do like that it's relatively affordable! The customer service is superb. I'm really a fan of how they provide everything from moist wipes, toothpicks, gloves, and a plastic handkerchief. The food is rather luke warm and the butter isn't buttery. I'm not sure why the butter is not a melted consistency. It's like a glob Type of consistency. I'm curious as to why the butter isn't melted I wanted to be sure I was giving this place a fair review. Was hoping it would be better but just 3 stars for me. My friend and I went and ordered 2 separate meals. I ordered the surf & turf fries (philly steak & shrimp). The steak was salty and grainy maybe. It left a weird coating on my tongue which I didn't care for. My friend ordered #3 I believe. She said it was really flavorful. It was packed in here and the people in front of me took so long to order but okay...so I ordered crab legs, shrimp all that and some fried blue crab (do not recommend, hard to eat for me at least/ain't no meat in it but it wasn't nasty) I got my food to go! Wait was bout 20-25 mins so I went to Krispy Kreme and came back (pitiful I know) but my food was ready when I got back. I get home and my food was looking delicious and delicious it was!! Bartlett really needed a great seafood place, and this is it! The food is cooked perfectly! The shrimp were cooked, but not tough. The crab is spot on and you can tell they are freshly steamed and not sitting in water. The sausage was surprisingly very tasty! It's better than traditional store-bought sausage. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I asked for the butter on the side and it came on top. The employee did not offer to assist in correcting my order error, but justified the butter on top by saying that's the best way to eat it and the way "we" serve it. Unfortunately, not everyone wants their seafood covered in butter. Otherwise, great place! Just wish the customer service was better. Hopefully this is just growing pains. Today is my daughter's 18th birthday. She requested a seafood broil, so I took her to Krab Kingz. We ordered snow crabs, shrimp and sides for three totaling $63. Good deal. CSR was courteous. We were told about 15-30 minutes. We went to the car. Only a few minutes passed and I received the text it's ready. Too fast I thought. We live close by. So, it only takes maybe about 6 minutes to make it home. Setup the table, plate the food, bibs and gloves on... I crack open my 1st snow crab leg and it's very cold. I ask my daughters to crack theirs open and test it, the same, very cold. I'm livid. We're at the table, hungry and ready to eat. The presentation of the snow crabs and shrimp was nice, but it was not ready to eat. Only the sides were hot and ready. I'm highly disappointed that I had to figure out how to heat and warm up the snow crabs and shrimp without messing it up. It's annoying.
