My husband and I recently went to Ocean Blue for a quick bite and a drink. The restaurant is conveniently located on Whitten Rd. and it is quite spacious. They take the nautical theme to the next level. Everything is decorated around that theme. We went around 8:30 on a Saturday and we were immediately seated. Though it is a seafood restaurant, we opted for the cajun wings. They were good! They came out smoking hot out of the grease and were well- seasoned! We also tried the Peach, Please and the Strawberry Hennessy. They were both pretty good. Everything was reasonably priced as well. The service was okay. They checked on us a couple of times. However, we didn't have to wait long for anything. I liked that they were not playing loud music like some of the restaurants do now. It was a relaxed environment. They just had a couple of large TVs playing the basketball game. I recommend it for families during the day and maybe as a first stop before a night out. read more

If you love seafood boils, this is the place to go! I always order the famous low country boil with the ocean special sauce extra spicy. It's flavorful and not too spicy. I usually substitute the sausage for broccoli. The cheesestticks are also my favorite. My wife and I came down to Memphis from Missouri for the Ray Park signing at 901 Comics East. We were looking for some spicy seafood and we found it! I got a boil with shrimp, snow crab, sausage, eggs, potato, and corn I got the Cajun spicy and I was not disappointed. My wife got a pound of crawfish also Cajun spicy, the crawfish were huge. Everything was very fresh the crab cracked with a crisp snap, even the corn was very fresh. I am excited for our next trip! One of the greatest parts was the service, our drinks never got half empty, and when we were ready to go they even wrapped up the left over boil so I could reheat it right. Short story was food was good and service was lackluster but not awful...just blasé interactions. I had the fried shrimp po boy...the shrimp were plumb and cooked nicely...the bun was like a day old hot dog bun-too small to hold anything, tasteless and not good texture...very disappointing. First let me say that the staff here is VERY friendly and the restaurant itself is very nice and clean. I really REALLY wanted this restaurant to have good food because we live close, and finding good seafood out in the Cordova/Bartlett area is near impossible... and it still is sadly. My husband and I just ate lunch here - I had the fried catfish basket lunch special and my husband had the fried shrimp Poboy. We started with the fried calamari appetizer which would have been great but it had that thick dry crust on tender tasty calamari ringlets. That pretty much set the tone for our meals :( I gave this restaurant 4 out of 5 stars because the staff is so nice and the interior is very nice as well. My fish was ok and the sauces not so great. My husband food just tasted dry. I don't know how else to explain it but maybe we are just sauce people ‍ We want to try to the shrimp and crab in the bag next time just to see if maybe that is their forte' but as far as fried stuff goes, not so much. read more

Wow, where to even begin? We started out with the chicken wings coated in garlic and their ocean blue sauce..... needless to say AMAZING! We then went on to order the fried oysters and fries and they were perfectly fried not to much breading so you got the full effect of the oyster, I highly recommend the remoulade with these as well, lastly we ended our visit with a boil bag of shrimp HEAD ON ALWAYS, black mussels, sausage, corn, and potatoes we got it with the ocean blue sauce and extra hot temp! Everything was cooked to perfection and mouthwatering good. Bar and food service were immaculate. This will definitely be our one and only go to seafood spot! read more

Overpriced and overcooked I ordered a pound of shrimp and crab legs. My crab legs took forever so when they came out I was not surprised to find out after that first bite that they had been overcooked. I was extremely disappointed because the place had just opened so I expected something good and new to try. I found my favorite seafood place in Memphis! The decor is reminiscent of Anderton's and Mark Twain of days gone by. The place is beautifully themed. I had an Oyster PoBoy that came with twice as many oysters than would fit the bread, and were perfectly cooked. The Cajun fries are great. All the sauces are good, but the remoulade is my favorite. NEVER AGAIN I will never go back. It took 15 minutes before the waitress got our drink order and another 10 before she came with our drinks. At that time she said she had to take care of a large group check and then she would take our order. 30 minutes later I got up and went to get our ticket for our drinks because she never came back. The manager that I talked to acted like she didn't care. I paid my bill and started to walk out when 2 very nice women thanked me and hoped I enjoyed my visit, that's when I told her them I would never step foot back in there. She was very apologetic and went and got the owner. Terrible experience with this restaurant. 18% gratuity was already added to my bill. However, an additional tip was added without me knowing. Waiter received a total of over $65 tip on a $170 bill. ( $31 plus $35). I requested a refund and was denied. I have dined here 3 to 4 times. I will never go back. Terrible customer service. Manager was not cooperating with me. Do not eat here and if you do, please pay close attention to your bill. Someone also placed a to-go order and it was also added to my bill. We are from New Orleans and we are very critical of seafood, but Ocean Blue got it right. Been here twice and the service was great both times. We ordered a pound of crab and a pound of shrimp with Cajun seasoning. The best part about eating here is the fact that you get a bib, gloves, and everything you need to stay clean while you tear up your food. Both times the food came out within 10 minutes hot and fast. The food is good and the service is good, neither was excellent, but it was good. Portion size is a little small for the prices but not horribly so. The biggest retraction is the tip policy. We were a party of two at 830pm on a Monday. They add 18% to every check after 6 pm. I informed both the managers they lost money for the waitress. I understand for a large party but not for a party of two. As a customer my strongest feedback on service is the tip and I don't feel it should be decided for me. I really like this restaurant but I do have one complaint about it. I went with a party of people and one of the patrons is allergic to fish. He planned on ordering chicken tenders until we found out that it's fried in the same oil. Yes, I know. It's a seafood restaurant but there are sometimes people that are in groups with others that may have an allergy. As a restaurant, they should be aware of potential allergies and have a dedicated area for just poultry items and fries. My poor friend couldn't eat, so he just sat there while we all did. Hot wings were horrible. I ordered buffalo wings hot and was told they didn't have hot buffalo wings sauce or couldn't make them hot at all. I couldn't fathom a place that served wings not being capable of having spicy wings if you had buffalo sauce. So, I got the wings and the sauce was Louisiana hot sauce barely coated on the wings so they were super dry. Wings shrunken and took forever to get my to go order. The hostess was really nice but the waitress barely spoke English and didn't understand much of what I was saying, which probably contributed to the horrible wings as she hovered over the hostess the entire time as if she wasn't capable of getting a simple order.
