I will give this place a 4.8/5. Food was delicious. They have fried seafood rice and it's amazing. Ask for the Great Hunter sauce for this dish. The food was smoking hot. We had a sausage boil and it was on point. I ordered the Crab cakes. It comes with French fries. Their crab cakes remind me of salmon croquettes from the texture and look. Despite the good food, it's a poor business practice to provide customers with a none itemized receipt. We originally were going to place an online order but decided to call it in. I noticed their website says there is a 10% gratuity charge for all carry out orders. When I picked our order up, there was a posted sign that said 15% on all dine in and 18% on parties of 6 or more. No posted information on carry out orders. When I received my receipt, it was not itemized. So you don't know what exactly you're being charged for AND there's a tip line. It's customary to have itemized receipts and to be indicated as "Addl gratuity" if it was already added. I'll let you ponder on why they have adopted their current practice. read more

First off, the place is huge and clean! The hostess was welcoming with a smile and the waitress Ambra I think was wonderful. We dined on a Sunday at 1:30 and there was no crowd. We were a party of 8. We placed our order and the food came out in a timely manner as I think we all ordered the special for that day. Since the food comes in a bag I don't have a really good picture of it however the food was descent. My bag came with lobster tail, bunch of shrimp, 2 clusters, corn and potato and I added sausage. I also had a strawberry lemon drop and had to add a shot. The drink was way too sweet. Someone ordered a lemon drop and it was bitter and she added a shot as well. The shrimp were large and the lobster was again descent. Crablegs are too much work so I never get the benefit of eating them before just giving up but it came with the bag. Total cost $90. Would I go again, no but you should definitely try them. My crew said it was really good. Footnote, I don't care for seafood so that may be why I didn't love it but it was descent and seemed fresh. Corn was over cooked but I like corn so I didn't care. I was told the sausage was andouille but it wasn't and that was disappointing. I also ordered onion rings, twice! I dined here three times in the last month. That is more than enough time to give a fair and honest assessment of what the overall dining experience is like. On all three visits, there was an unusually large amount of flies flying around the dining room and near the windows by the booths. On the first visit, that was probably the result of the second set of doors at the entrance being left open. On the third visit, although the doors were closed at the entrance, it was more of the same with the amount of flies flying around the booth. Swatting away flies should not be a normal part of someone's dining experience. On all three visits, I noticed that the ketchup bottles had old, dated and faded labels on the bottles. That was a clear sign that the bottles are not being replaced. They are being refilled. On My most recent visit, I attempted to clean the first bottle but gave up because it was too dirty and shouldn't have been used in the first place. After asking for and receiving the second bottle, I opened the top to find that the ketchup under the lid was slightly pink in color. That was possibly the result of water somehow getting into the bottle and turning the red ketchup a lighter color. At that point, I decided to look a little closer to determine if this should or would be my last time dining here. I then removed the top from the bottle and what I found was more disturbing than the flies. I clearly have no idea how long it took for that to turn into what it is. It's also clear that the old ketchup bottles are not being cleaned prior to refilling. If You are not going to clean them then they should be thrown away. It is unfortunate that this is what is being given to people to use. If two ketchup bottles had to be replaced in one visit, I wonder what else may be lurking around that have not been discovered yet. It is the responsibility of Managers to spot check and follow up with their employees to prevent things like this from taking place. That is obviously not happening. I've been more than fair in giving this place three tries. For obvious reasons, this will be My last time dining here and I will be moving on. read more

I had Great Hunter Crab several times in the past. I noticed that I have definitely enjoyed my experience more when I've had delivery. I typically get the wings and I still enjoy those as Buffalo and as seasoned. However, I recently visited a great hunter crab in person for a birthday party of 20. They had one server who was a new server to attend to the party. It took us over an hour to get our food. It took at least 20 minutes to take our orders. The ambience was OK, but I noticed that for a restaurant environment the type of music that was played, was not on par with that with the restaurant customers. My family of four ate here tonight and although the food was good, I completely lost my appetite when I took my son to the bathroom. Disgusting does not begin to describe what I saw. There were 3 or 4 stalls all all but one was covered in paper towels, tissue, urine, and other substances that I do not want to mention. The "clean" one was covered in pee. If I had been to that bathroom prior to eating, we would not have stayed and I can guarantee you that we will not be back! I asked to speak to a manager and she was so nonchalant about it that it just made me mad. She said that the bathrooms were cleaned "not long ago". Ain't no way that was true. I was greeted with a clean, oceanic-themed entrance with top notch decor to perfectly set the ambiance for an on-the-seas food adventure. My kids were delighted to be next to the mermaid and dolphins mural. It gave "everything but the beach" vibes. I can't express enough how much I enjoy crab legs, especially snow crab legs, lol. My mother and I decided to try this place out and we're so glad we did! The establishment was adorably decorated and very clean. I appreciated the fact that each table was equipped with a package of large wet wipes and needed utensils for seafood. Our waitress was Mallyson and she was absolutely adorable and knowledgeable of the seafood options giving us suggestions which we accepted. We went there for the first time tonight for a birthday dinner and it was a great experience. They were having a special and we got the 1lb King Crab Legs for $15 each (normally priced at $33). They were quite tasty and my cheesecake fans really enjoyed their dessert. They automatically charge 15% gratuity. As former servers we only tip that if it's really bad. At first I saw no one in the restaurant and was a bit concerned. However when the food arrive I was not disappointed with the food. The quality of the food was really good and high ends. The service was really kind too, left like I didn't really need to worry about nothing while eating. Personally I believe the pricing was pretty fair also. I think I'll be coming back most definitely. But I also notice the ambiance around the store. I love the fact it was like a crab trap with chains and the tv on top of the bar looking like a crab trap and the blue light as the ocean. I STAY HERE!!! It's my every Friday, after work, mid-day lunch spot. I started going here after I got fed up with inconsistent experiences with another establishment in the area that was too salty/not enough flavor. I haven't been disappointed yet. Beware, this is a looooong post, lol. They've never been crowded when I go, maybe because it's usually early, but even the one night I went back after having been that day for lunch, they still weren't...and I don't know why because the food is good!!! Now granted I get the same thing everytime, it hasn't disappointed me like some other establishments in the city of Memphis and the surrounding area have. I've never been a lemon pepper fan, but my pound of headless shrimp, add broccoli and egg, lemon pepper/Cajun mild is my regular order now and I love it!!...right amount of season, spice, the flavor is good. My honey got a bag of crab legs and shrimp with garlic butter/Cajun mild which was my flavor of choice before getting hooked on the lemon pepper, and it was just as delectable to him. He had gotten used to a thicker sauce that stuck to everything like some other places do and thought it wouldn't pack as much flavor, but he soon realized he was pleasantly mistaken. The sauce soaks into and coats everything just fine. I also tried their house oysters that have a baked cheese on top and they're good, gonna ask for some sauce on the side next time I get some. I told them one of the last times I went that they need to add some French bread to their orders, but that's a me thing to sop up the sauce, lol. They have a full bar and the drinks are good, enjoyed my first Green Tea cocktail yesterday, got bottled and draft beers, and make some frozen libations as well that I've tried that were good. Aasha is usually behind the bar on Fridays when I've gone and she's so sweet and attentive, as you know you have to be a people person to work with the public and she doesn't disappoint. The manager Jazmine has always been very hospitable, helpful, always tells about the specials and the things going on new in the restaurant and interacts with everyone. Overall, the staff has always been welcoming. Everyone speaks when they look you in the face. I've been to other places where I've had it happen that they don't, and yep, haven't been back. They do a good job keeping the restaurant presentable and have CLEAN restrooms!!!, means a lot to walk in a place you eat and the restroom is clean...stop and think about that one, y'all. The prices break even, I think. Where you think you're paying a couple of dollars more than at another place for the same thing, another item on the menu may be a couple of dollars less, so it all comes to the same thing. But understand, I'll pay for everything I listed above rather than paying less for an unpleasant experience. I hope more people give them a shot. Yes, it's in the old TGI Fridays building, just like other ones were once something else too, but I hope the history of that building once it stated going down doesn't taint the desire to give them the chance. The outside grounds could use a little maitenance, but that doesn't take away from the inside. I understand they have a DJ or live music on certain days, but I've never taken part in those days, not my cup of tea. If it's not something you'd like, just check the social media platforms they are on and check out the nights to make sure you avoid those nights. People complain about things like this, but don't remember that they always have a choice that they can control! Someone talked about the music they play, it being 90s/2000s, R&B, Bump & Grind or something like that which I enjoy, I do agree there can be more popular music they play for overall customer enjoyment. ANYWAY, long I said, but I hope that anyone who reads this gives them a chance and will be as pleasantly surprised as I was and continue to give them patronage. read more

Wow! We were absolutely blown away by how delicious their seafood boil was. Forget about Joe's Crab Shack or any other seafood restaurant, for that matter. You won't find better anywhere inland.
