The Genre is always going to have a customer in me. The parking situation was a little hectic but that was due to the school graduations happening. Their parking is $5 which isn't bad for downtown. When you walk in, you are welcomed with good music, good vibes and a dreamy blue light that makes any skin look good. (Think Belly, ifkyk). Went for my besties bday party so we were set up in the back in area where they called it the "Garage". It was a very nice space and open up to the outside area too. They did have a bar setup but no bartenders, made drinks in the front. The Food!!!! 10/10 and I will solely keep going for that fried catfish. My whole table had them. 1-2 pieces on catfish each. It's that good. I got some tenders with fries and a side of the spicy honey gold sauce. Best sauce that I had in awhile. Our waitresses Kim & Patrice were phenomenal to us the entire night. Anything that we wanted, we got it. For a Saturday night, they were on point with the service. The Chef also keep checking in on us too and that's something you typically don't see. Never again. While the food itself was good, the service was among the worst I've experienced. We ordered tacos that were brought to the table without plates. After requesting plates, silverware, and napkins, none of those items ever arrived, leaving us to eat without basic utensils or proper place settings. We also ordered water and were told there would be a charge, which was fine--but the water never came. Unfortunately, that was only one of several service issues we encountered throughout our visit. Good food can only go so far when the overall dining experience is this frustrating. Based on the lack of attention to customers and poor follow-through on even the simplest requests, I would not return and cannot recommend this restaurant. Came here on a Saturday for a floral class taking place in the back. The class started at 4:30, and I arrived around 4:15 and waited in the parking lot. They do have their own lot, and parking was $5 for Genre customers, which was convenient. When I went inside around 4:30, it was pretty quiet--no music or activity--which was a bit surprising since the class was scheduled to start then. Shortly after, a gentleman came up front and let me know the earlier floral class was running over. I was invited to take a seat and given a menu in case I wanted to order while I waited. Ordering is done through a tablet kiosk right by the entrance. I can see how that might be a bit inconvenient if it gets busy, but it seemed to work fine during my visit. I ordered the 1-piece catfish with a side of okra. I was told it would be whole pieces, but it ended up being a large filet--which was still perfectly fine. My food came out in about 15 minutes. The catfish was a great size and fried to perfection--crispy and flavorful. It was served over a bed of okra, which unfortunately was a bit overcooked, so I didn't eat much of it. Overall, I'd rate the entrée a 7/10. I skipped ordering a drink since beverages were included with the floral class, and they actually brought me one while I waited, which I appreciated. I also noticed they offer hookah, which adds to the overall vibe. Once the music was turned on, the atmosphere really picked up and felt much more lively. May be the best restaurant in Memphis. Came here with a large group. Everyone ordered different items off the menu so I was able to taste a lot. I was not disappointed! Everything was outstanding. This was my first time visiting The Genre! I went right at opening, so we were able to seat ourselves. The server immediately came to our table and gave us water and took our drink order. I had an apple martini. They normally don't serve those, but he made it for me and asked me to taste it. If I didn't like it he would've remade it or given me another drink, but it was actually delicious! Next up was our appetizer and food order. Keep in mind we went for 901 Black Restaurant Week, so the menu was curated. I had the catfish and broccoli. The catfish was dipped in the 201 (honey hot Cajun) sauce. It was so good! Let me just say this is some of the best fried fish I have had and they were huge! I enjoyed every bite of it. The broccoli was delicious and flavorful as well. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. The ambiance was really nice as well. It's small, but packed with lots of soul. The artwork, Memphis themes throughout, and the music feels like southern comfort. The patio area outside is also nice. I love the lights and space. Keep in mind that this is directly across from 201 in the downtown area, so parking isn't free. Also they are in a shared space, so you have to walk out the back to get to the restroom. I met some friends here and it was okay. The service started off great but as the night went on it declined a bit. The wings were okay. The sauce was good but they could have been fried longer. Went for karaoke night, with dj. Arrived close to 715, di setting up and testing equipment. Called it at nearly 9 after just endless turntable and calls that karaoke would "start soon." Now, some may say that "it's dj night and karaoke, so you should expect a dj." Cool. Is a dj just a guy who plays a series of music videos on the screens and occasionally throws in a record scratch? It was literally like sitting in a college dorm with a guy really excited to be "a dj." Food was expensive to sit bored as hell for two hours. The server was very nice. Sitting in "the garage" with industrial fans blowing on us was not a great experience. Until they can get it straight, it's not worth going off of Beale, because at least on Beale, you're gonna get live music and AC. It was Monday, day one of State Jury Duty, and three of us head to Genre Restaurant for lunch. Its a quaint restaurant with a musical theme and Memphis vibe. The service was fast and efficient; menu was a QR Code at the table and Servers had handhelds to show your bill and take payment. We enjoyed Fish & Potatoes, Fish & Grits, and a Southwest Egg Roll. All were very good, but the fried catfish, cheese grits, and egg rolls were EXCEPTIONAL! Really good wings! You are reminded at all times to pay for parking. Don't ignore that. Our server was on her first day. She was really nice and was honest about what she had tried. She recommended basically everything she had already tried. She was spot on with the wings. I got the hot with lemon pepper extra crispy. The fries were also good and hot. The burger was plain with just cheese although we asked for everything but onion. Not sure what that was about. The name of the burger makes you think it's going to be fully loaded. We had the exact opposite experience. We both ordered strawberry lemon drops. Our drinks were good, but I should have said no strawberry. It was too sweet. If that's what you like, you would love it. WINGS: They were fried to perfection! Memphis is known for their honey gold/honey hot flavors and this restaurant didn't disappoint! They retained their heat for a GOODT 45minutes yall, no lie. If you went to McDonald's or Wendy's and they served your burger with breakfast potatoes, you'd be like, "uh??" She didn't apologize for not mentioning it or offer to substitute anything LOL. We came here during their soft opening and I was really impressed with how delicious all the food was that we ordered. My favorite thing was their Buffalo chicken sliders and good lord, they were wonderful. We tried a whole bunch of food that night -- had some fish, chicken tenders, several different types of sliders, onion rings & fries and every bit of it was good. Employees were friendly. I attempted to reach out to the store's customer support multiple times, but my calls were consistently ignored or met with unhelpful and dismissive responses. It's clear that XYZ Store has little regard for addressing customer concerns or providing any form of satisfactory resolution. Overall, my experience at The Genre was a complete nightmare. The unhelpful staff, disorganized store, low-quality products, and nonexistent customer service left me feeling frustrated and cheated. I would strongly advise anyone considering shopping at The Genre to think twice and explore other options that value their customers and provide a positive shopping experience. If I could give this place a zero, I would. We had an awful experience. The wait was over an hour. The drinks came out 30 minutes after ordering them. We only received 2/3 drinks ordered. We all ordered the "premium" alcohol up charge and there was no way there was alcohol in any of the drinks. The 3rd drink came after the second appetizer. The first appetizer, mozzarella sticks, came out cold. The third appetizer came out after our entrees. All ordered at the same time! The shrimp kebabs were OVER COOKED AND HARD and served over a mound of green beens and two slices of pineapple. Went to the 1 year anniversary Sunday. Had no idea this was an outside event. Did not also kno tht general admission was first come first serve as far as the seating. Ordered a strawberry Hennessy for $15 first off why did the bartender hide the cup when pouring the "alcohol". The cup looked like it was maybe 6oz. There wasn't a drop of liquor in my drink. It tasted like strawberry juice and last but not least The owner came around and gave those that had reserved and vip seating a free shot. Why couldn't everybody get one. The Condados at the Noblesville, IN location is thee worst! We entered the restaurant and no one acknowledged us. We sat ourselves, and after being there fifteen-minutes, no one told us that a server would be with us. In addition, I had my elderly grandmother with me, and no one bothered to offer a drink of water, nothing! It was not until I said "excuse me" to a server and I said it three times. She blatantly tried to ignore me, and turned around as if I was bothering her. I asked if we had a sever and she had a look of disgust. I instantly told my grandmother to get up, I don't need to beg anyone for service! Teach your servers to respect and recognize all servers. As I was leaving, I made sure to take a photo of the location. One of the other male servers was looking. He never addressed us as well. I've visited the genre a few times I get the chicken and waffles the waffle is perfection the chicken tenders are super small then they give you 2 kid like tenders the service is straight they just take a little minute to bring something you asked for back to the table . Now my hubby got the lamb grits and waffles I wish I had taken a picture I am not kidding the lamb was so darn small like the size of a chicken nugget! Their food is good but their prices do not match the qty they charge you regular prices for small portions when we left my hubby was still hungry and that's crazy even their drinks cost $12-$15 but they put most of them in those flute glasses so you're not getting as much to drink their little ways of operating charging regular prices for small portions will hinder their progress as a business now this is my opinion... I don't think we really have to pay for that parking I think they (The Genre) get that money...Between small portions, small drinks, paying for the parking which is probably not mandatory, the establishment pocketing some of the gratuity instead of giving it all to the staff it's giving finessing sorry not sorry read more

Customer service is awful. Party of 4 but only 3 waters bought to table. I ordered my fish dipped and the food was bought out incorrect. When I asked about it the waitress responded "aww we didnt do it", dropped the plate and walked off. She looked related to the owners. Gratuity is automatically charged so staff acts any type of way towards customers read more
