We had a great time the food and service and ambiance was 5 stars. We will be coming back soon. I recommend it for everyone who wants a great dinning experience.

Well.. we booked our book club meeting a month ahead.. We had to rebook due to the snow in January. We arrive at Magic to hear. So you have a reservation and do you have verification of your deposit? Well, we keep a receipt so the answer was yes! They didn't have our reservation. They are in the middle of switching from open table to toast for reservations. The food was ok! Catfish was a little salty for me. The waffle on the chicken and waffles was an ego literally. The ambiance was decent. The waiter got the drinks confused. There was a small rumble with the bartender. It's black history month. I wanted to support a black owned business. ‍

My wife, and another couple from Atlantaha had an incredible time at Mahogany River Terrace for a 50th birthday party! The space was beautiful, the river view added a special touch, and the vibe was just right for celebrating. Had a live band that killed it. Music wasn't too loud and over baring. The staff was very attentive. Definitely a top spot for events in Memphis!"

This is a great weekend brunch, date night spot. I would recommend booking a reservation because they will be packed over the weekend. The food selection was diverse from vegan, lambs and seafood. The food took a little long but we did have a large party so it was expected. I believe our wait time was around 1 hour. I wouldn't go off our wait time if you plan to have a smaller party. The best part besides the quality of the food was the live band. This was a great added touch for brunch. If their patio was open it would be a great spot to have brunch looking out to the river. This restaurant offers valet parking for $20 or general parking is about $5-$10 for 3 hours. If you are looking for a great new brunch spot check it out.

Great beignets

Went in for a 2 pm Sunday brunch celebration. Weren't seated until 2:15 even though our whole party of 6 ppl were there on time. Also, wasn't happy that we had to pay $10 for General parking or $20 for valet. I chose valet but dang, do they not own their own parking lot? So I had to pay for parking even though they have a huge parking lot which is rare downtown. Then waited 15 min on a reservation. But the restaurant is really nice with a great view of the MS river plus they had live music being played...think Bridgerton vibes. So I calmed down taking everything in and enjoying the vibe. Then they tell us we have to order by 2:30 pm bc they close at 3 pm for the dinner prep. So we order our food and drinks quickly. 20 min later, still no food nor drinks, so we order beignets to eat with our water that is on the table. Beignets are delicious. It's after 3 and our food comes out. My daughter and mother's waffle and bacon is raw. We have to send it back. Comes back great. Everyone else ordered grilled/fried fish with grits and greens. We were pleased despite everything. Service can be slow. You have to pay for parking. But you will eventually enjoy your meal. If service was better, I could get past the paid parking and might come more often. But right now another restaurant has the ambiance, vibe, free parking, great service, and good food. They are still my fav. Wish it could be Mahogany esp with that view, but alas

Third Attempt at Mahogany River Terrace - A Surprising Turnaround For our third visit to Mahogany River Terrace, we decided to embrace the inevitable hike to the entrance rather than catching a ride with the friendly chauffeur. Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted, which was already a step up from past experiences. Our reservation was for seven, and although not all of our guests had arrived, the staff graciously seated the first two--an unexpected but appreciated gesture. Our waiter was a breath of fresh air--friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and professional. It was a sharp contrast to previous visits, setting a more positive tone for the evening. As always, the decor and ambiance were on point. The space radiates an eccentric yet groovy energy, effortlessly blending modern elegance with a relaxed, welcoming vibe. It's the kind of setting that makes you want to settle in, sip a drink, and truly enjoy the moment. Speaking of drinks, we ordered a few, though I can't recall the names--just know they were absolutely delicious. Perfectly crafted, balanced, and exactly what you'd hope for in a refined dining experience. For starters, we went with beignets, and from there, we indulged in a feast: lamb chops and grits, steak, fried catfish, oxtails and grits, greens, hot water cornbread, mac and cheese, brioche French toast, Belgian waffles, fried potatoes, and scrambled eggs. Each dish carried a unique chef's touch, blending authentic seasoning with bold, unforgettable flavors. Every bite felt intentional--thoughtfully crafted and packed with layers of taste that left us thoroughly impressed. We were seated in the main dining area, where the sun beamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows. While the natural light created a beautiful setting, the Memphis heat made it clear that some shades or tinting could enhance the dining experience during peak hours. I couldn't be more elated to finally see this establishment thriving--not just with exceptional cuisine, but with outstanding service and a staff that truly reflects the value, expertise, and dedication poured into this place. Mahogany River Terrace has stepped up, and it shows. Way to go!

I really enjoyed my time at this establishment. I visited the first location in the past but this one exceeded my expectations. The service was excellent, the ambiance was perfect, and the food was delectable! We visited on Easter Sunday and it was crowded as expected. We made a reservation but had to wait maybe 15-20 minutes which was no problem. I enjoyed the catfish, greens pot likka, mac and cheese and cornbread. My companion had french toast brioche. Both of these dishes were chef kiss. The background music and scenic views made my experience more pleasant. They have paid parking maybe $5-$10 and a shuttle to bring you from parking lot to front door then back to your car afterwards. Can you say royal treatment! I look forward to visiting again in the very near future!

This is one of my favorite restaurants!!! I've been here a few times for lunch and I've introduced to several of my colleagues. The food is delicious! The customer service is amazing, and the ambiance of the restaurant is exquisite. I'm not a native of Memphis, a transplant from DC, who absolutely loves Memphis and the food scene here. I plan to attend a brunch soon and I also plan to come back for evening dining. Thank you to the staff and the Assistant Manager (forgive me for forgetting your name) but every visit has been amazing!

Enjoyed this brunch here. They only do the brunch menu on weekends fyi, be sure to pay for parking before you walk in, but they do have the qr code if you forget. Valet is 20 dollars, so definitely wasn't doing that. They do have a complimentary shuttle which was really nice. We got on it as we were leaving. The vibe was nice, it was a packed house as it was Father's Day. Sometimes it looks dead in there, there's a lot of seats inside and out. The shrimp and grits were good, but my friend got the chicken and waffles and it looked really good. Two big pieces of fried bone in chicken. I'll get that next time. Service was good and quick.

I was visiting family in Memphis & was asked to make a reservation at Mahogany, unfortunately, I was not aware that there are 2 locations. BE CAREFUL WHEN BOOKING! Though I made my reservation for Midtown (in error) The River Terrace was able to accommodate my party of 7 at the bar. Though not ideal, they did the best they could and I appreciate that! We were served by Chantel at the bar. She is an excellent example of superior customer service. She was knowledgeable of the menu, provided great suggestions, and had a welcoming, warm and can-do attitude. We wanted for nothing while we fellowshipped. I truly appreciate great service! I had the Beignets to start, they weren't the traditional version, but for what they presented as, they were tasty, flaky, yet soft and sweet. For my main course, I had the Catfish & Grits. The catfish was perfection! The grits had great texture, but flavor wise, it needed a little more love, but after adding salt & pepper it was just fine. I also ordered the collard greens - as a non pork eater I will always take the opportunity to eat greens outside of the house when I can! The Cornbread on top was also very good. My brother got the shrimp & grits and they were tasty as well! Lastly, I had 2 Michael Jackson's Billie Jean (I think that was the name?). It was their variation of a French 75. I throughly enjoyed them. Overall I really enjoyed my time there & will most definitely visit again when I am back in town.

Snuck in while waiting on some teenagers and had a wonderful experience on the river. Food was flavorful, vibes were flowing and service was great.

(I am a month overdue from posting this on Yelp!) All of my adult life, I have always wanted a "spot" in Memphis. Many of The place that I grew up, wanting to go closed by the time I was old enough to enjoy them. Even in recent years, places in Memphis have come and gone for people who don't do clubs, but want to have a good time. Tonight, my husband and I celebrated our birthdays and we both agreed that we found a place for us. Mahagony River Terrace is actually the elegant elevated experience that I've been searching for for awhile. Located in Harbortown, Actually ended up being better than if we'd gone downtown. The restaurant offers a shuttle that will take you straight to the front door if you choose to park public. They also offer a valet option. From the moment we walked in, we knew that it would be a different experience. With three levels, the ambience was perfect. We sat on the bar level since our reservations for the patio could not be fulfilled due to the weather. We had catfish, greens, and grits. We also had a tasty dessert that was like a funnel cake for our birthdays. The drinks were also perfect. We had an attentive, bartender, Shantel, Who checked in on us frequently and made sure that we had both our food and drinks. We will certainly be back. I'll take more pictures next time! It is critical that we support our local business who offer this level of care and service. I am hopeful that this best-kept secret becomes a well-known gem in Memphis.

Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere (especially on a warm, sunny day), and attentive servers. My one knock against them is required paid parking... Unfortunately, they likely don't have control over that. But, it affected my experience, nonetheless. Check them out. I've never had anything I regretted ordering from the menu of options. The blackened catfish, grits, and cornbread cake were excellent.

We ordered 3 cocktails: Espresso Martini, Bloody Mary, and a Poinsettia. The cranberry juice wasn't available for the poinsettia and they didn't have seltzers, so my friend settled on a Prosecco. I was advised that the Bloody Mary would come with bacon. In the interim, we enjoyed munching on their signature popcorn. However, when it arrived (20 minutes later), it did not have it. I asked the server about it and the bartender quickly rectified the situation and added 3 green olives. My friend that ordered the prosecco thought it was fine. However, the friend that ordered the espresso martini was shocked by the presentation. First it was creamy white in color and the flavor was not quite right. It had an odd twang and not at all reminiscent of a typical espresso martini. My friends ordered the breakfast Mexican pizza and were pleased overall. I ordered the huevos rancheros breakfast hash and it was perfectly portioned and seasoned. Not too spicy and just the right amount of flair. Overall, the food was good, atmosphere was good, service was good, but the drinks were a bit tricky. ***I saved this over my review from over 5 years ago and it looks like we had a tricky time then too

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!

This entire restaurant is built on a slight slope, and they did not level the foundation when building out the restaurant, so if you're sitting at your table and the table is aligned north to south, you will see a slight lean to the flooring. Also, if you have any juices on your plate of food, the juices will flow toward Beale Street. I wanted to try their tamales but will have to do it on a subsequent visit. This visit we ordered the bowl of gumbo and the Memphis strip steak which is pre-cut for you. The gumbo is slightly salty but good. The strip steak was really good, filling and cooked to order. I chose new potatoes as my one side. Service here can be a little difficult depending how busy they are and how wild your fellow patrons in the restaurant can be. It took a long time to pay the bill here due to a large party coming in right when we were wanting to pay and our server was attending to them for about 15 mins while we were trying to flag him down. Other than that, we had no other problems. I would happily return the next time I'm in the downtown area and looking for food near Beale Street.
