This was one of the most upsetting dining experiences we've ever had. We looked at the menu and were charmed by the food, so we decided to try it out. The food was fine but our meal took forever because each person's food was delivered one person at a time, and so slowly that #1 was finished before #2 arrived. There were four of us. It was excruciating. We finally asked about our last person and realized the order hadn't been put in, and when it was brought out it was missing a side. My wife and I were searching for a good Sports Bar to watch an NCAA March Madness game. We were staying at the Peabody Hotel in Downtown Memphis and discovered this venue was right across the street. We checked it out ahead of time, lots of TV's. Decent menu of options, and everyone seemed friendly. Upon return we found a couple seats at the bar, which we prefer, where we could watch our game. Mike the bartender was awesome, very friendly, made us feel at home. We ordered the Appetizer plater which was really good. The Old Bay Hot Honey Dip for the Chicken Tenders was a favorite. As I was leaving work, I had a craving for fish and chips. There are a couple of places that serve fish and chips but this right here is my go to. You get two huge pieces of breaded cod, golden invaded perfection and the fries. Take up half the plate and they're not just crispy but they're flavorful they give you half half of a lemon instead of a small piece my only grape is more tartar sauce. The food here is amazing. I haven't had poutine like this since being in Canada. Burger was great, as well, and the Canadian draft on tap was perfect with it all. My mom had the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese - these are so good. We had a new server being trained and not only was she awesome, the person training her was, also - no water glass was empty for very long at all! The ambiance is really nice; it felt nicer than I expected even though I'd seen a lot of competitive eating videos that were done here. Will be back! read more

I was impressed from the time I first stepped through the door . I was greeted by a extremely enthusiastic hostess who was happy to see me. I ordered to go; so the hostess asked me to proceed to the bar. I ordered a chef salad, one pound of wings, cheese burger combo. Childs chicken meal and bread pudding. The food was served hot and seasoned. You definitely get your money's worth with the large portions served. The overall feel of the restaurant is very welcoming and relaxing. This is such a fun place and I'm really glad I came and tried the challenge. I will be back to do it again just with the burger a little less done. It was a bit overcooked making it harder to chew. Next time medium or medium rare. My wife lived the salmon and the boys liked their chicken and burger as well. The poutine was my personal favorite as I love it when done right. Canadian spot- had been looking for a place with poutine! This place was walking distance from other great eat spots, lighting was dark but a big open space. Soda menu had ginger ale, surprisingly! We went for things with gravy and cheese curds. Poutine fries were loaded with Kraft Mac n Cheese, cheese curds, gravy... he got the poutine burger. Food was good but looked way better than the flavor unfortunately. The flavor was good, but didn't have anything that stuck out seasoning wise. It would be good for a picky eater. When we asked for our check we had an issue with an extra item added on our tab, but had it settled before we left. read more

Awesome. Simply awesome. I have nothing but the best things to say about Kooky Canuck! First, the ambiance of the restaurant is great- akin to the inside a cozy lodge. The food is extremely tasty (and high quality) and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The owner, Shawn, is nothing short of a gem. He's friendly, has intelligence, wit, and integrity. I really messed up by not taking pictures on this one. I've had the burgers (phenomenal, regular and smash burger style) before. This time I tried the brunch menu and had, to name a few: *Poutine *French Canadian Toast *Maple Sunrise Sandwhich *Boozy Fried Bread Pudding *Eggs Benedict All of these were delicious. Small detail, but the crispy breakfast potatoes are perfect- soft on the inside and with this immaculate crisp on the outside. Next time I will certainly be getting the Waffle Monte Cristo. I love waffles.. I love Monte Cristo sandwiches.. seems like an ideal combo. A few friends and I have been in a few times now and this past trip he took us around the city. Again, I cannot say enough incredible things about he and his restaurant. Kooky even has food challenges: a 7 lb burger, a two-person 15 lb burger, and a four-person massive 25 lb burger! I've done the 25 lber and they were able to cook that burger so perfectly! Most places would undoubtedly have had the middle undercooked. Epically good food!! We're always a fan of Canadian food, but most restaurants are kitschy, without having really good food. The Kooky Canuck is a wonderful restaurant with delicious food, wonderful service, and great vibes! Friday night was full, but we were able to be seated right away! We started with a Log House salad with house made Honey Mustard. It was so fresh, with crisp mixed greens, egg, a generous amount of shredded cheese, diced tomato and red onion! The dressing was so flavorful! Then we each ordered a burger - the Canadian and the Memphis Best! Both were incredible!! Well seasoned patties, delightful toppings, substantial but soft bun...and the fries were perfectly cooked and salted! It should have been too much food - especially accompanied by a 34oz Loonie Logger on tap and a sweet tea - but we managed to finish it all! I'm not going here again. I'm in Memphis for a long conference and I thought I found a really good place but no. About the food, it is amazing. Good portion, good flavor, and good price. The reason for me not going back is the waitress. Everything was going well until I showed her a Yelp discount coupon. She said she needed to verify with the manager, which I think is reasonable, but after that moment, her attitude changed completely. At the moment of checking out, she dismissed the coupon because she did not mention it to the manager. I pointed out, and she was definitely upset. The manager came and nicely gave me the discount. However, when I saw the receipt, the waitress gave herself over 25% of tip. After that, she did not appear again. How can you beat some pineapple mimosas and fried food? The acid in the mimosas cuts the fried plate perfectly. If you do the pick 3; take the bartenders advice like I did and get the bbq egg rolls, kooky tenders, and fried pickles. The dipping sauces were all on point too (special shout out to the dill ranch for the pickles). The bbq rolls were so good and the fried pickles......let's just say that this is the only way to eat fried pickles. THICK CUT. I will never eat fried pickles anywhere where they are not at least a half inch thick. It changes the bite so much for the better. Awesome food and service! Came for a quick lunch while on break from a meeting at the Peabody. Got Poutine and the Chop Salad wanting to be sure to get my fill. My concerns of not having enough food were definitely misplaced. Either item would have been enough on its own. Portions are extremely generous. Bar service was quick and attentive as well. I requested the Cardinals game on the TV while I ate and the bartender was quick to attempt to put it on. Unfortunately, bar Kooky Canuck (as of 4/22/26) does not have the Cardinals mlb add on subscription for MLB.tv. In every other way, my experience was awesome! My burger was cooked to Medium to medium rare. Which was perfectly cooked. It lacked flavor/seasoning. They charge .99 for 2 SLIVERS of raw onion. They weren't as thick as my finger nails. I asked for a bacon cheeseburger but they forgot the bacon. The fries were greasy and I ate 1 just to try them. Hubby got the pulled pork. He wasn't impressed. Tasted like the BBQ sauce that we get in Iowa (sweet). He also didn't like the fries. He thought they lacked flavor and were greasy too. We came here for an early dinner and absolutely loved it. Happy hour well drinks were only $3 - good start. I had the blackened catfish po' boy and it was fantastic. It was enough food to feed a family of 4. My girlfriend had the grilled chicken sandwich and said it was one of the best she ever had. I found the Kooky Canuck quite by accident then realized I had seen it before on Man vs Food, I'm sure everyone mentions this. However, I keep going back because the food is excellent and, given Sean the owner is Canadian, their Poutine is one of the top I've had outside of Canada. It's ascetic is one of a Canadian Lodge, or as best it can, but let's face it, you're there for the food and drinks. Highly recommend if you're in the Memphis area. read more

They made a great old fashioned to start. Then the Pierogi appetizer which was rich and creamy with bits of bacon and sauté onion. The minute we walked in we were greeted and every staff member was so welcoming and kind. My oldest son is in a wheelchair and they were so accommodating and made sure to give us a good size table to make sure there was plenty of room. Our waitress, Pimala, was so patient and helpful and had such great service. The food was so delicious as well! You will not be disappointed with the choices you make. From the Mac n cheese to the Memphis best burger! Their fries and ranch were also so delicious!! I loved the decor and atmosphere. My kids loved guessing the animals that were all hung on the walls and the Santa hats on them was so great! So unique and fun! I will for sure be back when I visit family again. This is the place for solid bar food - before or after a hangover. We went before a Grizzlies game, and throughly enjoyed the food and drinks. You must go on Tipsy Tuesdays, when they have $6 drinks that are 34 oz. They also have $5 samplers of their appetizers. We ate so much food because we couldn't choose just one thing to order! Our server was great and recommended some delicious food. If you plan to go before a game, definitely go early, 5:30 at least, because it will fill up.
