This was one of the most upsetting dining experiences we've ever had. We looked at the menu and were charmed by the food, so we decided to try it out. The food was fine but our meal took forever because each person's food was delivered one person at a time, and so slowly that #1 was finished before #2 arrived. There were four of us. It was excruciating. We finally asked about our last person and realized the order hadn't been put in, and when it was brought out it was missing a side. My wife and I were searching for a good Sports Bar to watch an NCAA March Madness game. We were staying at the Peabody Hotel in Downtown Memphis and discovered this venue was right across the street. We checked it out ahead of time, lots of TV's. Decent menu of options, and everyone seemed friendly. Upon return we found a couple seats at the bar, which we prefer, where we could watch our game. Mike the bartender was awesome, very friendly, made us feel at home. We ordered the Appetizer plater which was really good. The Old Bay Hot Honey Dip for the Chicken Tenders was a favorite. As I was leaving work, I had a craving for fish and chips. There are a couple of places that serve fish and chips but this right here is my go to. You get two huge pieces of breaded cod, golden invaded perfection and the fries. Take up half the plate and they're not just crispy but they're flavorful they give you half half of a lemon instead of a small piece my only grape is more tartar sauce. I was impressed from the time I first stepped through the door . I was greeted by a extremely enthusiastic hostess who was happy to see me. I ordered to go; so the hostess asked me to proceed to the bar. I ordered a chef salad, one pound of wings, cheese burger combo. Childs chicken meal and bread pudding. The food was served hot and seasoned. You definitely get your money's worth with the large portions served. The overall feel of the restaurant is very welcoming and relaxing. This is such a fun place and I'm really glad I came and tried the challenge. I will be back to do it again just with the burger a little less done. It was a bit overcooked making it harder to chew. The food is extremely tasty (and high quality) and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The owner, Shawn, is nothing short of a gem. He's friendly, has intelligence, wit, and integrity. I really messed up by not taking pictures on this one. I've had the burgers (phenomenal, regular and smash burger style) before. This time I tried the brunch menu and had, to name a few: *Poutine *French Canadian Toast *Maple Sunrise Sandwhich *Boozy Fried Bread Pudding *Eggs Benedict All of these were delicious. Small detail, but the crispy breakfast potatoes are perfect- soft on the inside and with this immaculate crisp on the outside. Next time I will certainly be getting the Waffle Monte Cristo. I love waffles.. I love Monte Cristo sandwiches.. seems like an ideal combo. A few friends and I have been in a few times now and this past trip he took us around the city. Again, I cannot say enough incredible things about he and his restaurant. Kooky even has food challenges: a 7 lb burger, a two-person 15 lb burger, and a four-person massive 25 lb burger! The Kooky Canuck is a wonderful restaurant with delicious food, wonderful service, and great vibes! Friday night was full, but we were able to be seated right away! We started with a Log House salad with house made Honey Mustard. It was so fresh, with crisp mixed greens, egg, a generous amount of shredded cheese, diced tomato and red onion! The dressing was so flavorful! Then we each ordered a burger - the Canadian and the Memphis Best! Both were incredible!! Well seasoned patties, delightful toppings, substantial but soft bun...and the fries were perfectly cooked and salted! It should have been too much food - especially accompanied by a 34oz Loonie Logger on tap and a sweet tea - but we managed to finish it all! Awesome food and service! Came for a quick lunch while on break from a meeting at the Peabody. Got Poutine and the Chop Salad wanting to be sure to get my fill. My concerns of not having enough food were definitely misplaced. Either item would have been enough on its own. Portions are extremely generous. Bar service was quick and attentive as well. I requested the Cardinals game on the TV while I ate and the bartender was quick to attempt to put it on. Unfortunately, bar Kooky Canuck (as of 4/22/26) does not have the Cardinals mlb add on subscription for MLB.tv. In every other way, my experience was awesome! The reason for me not going back is the waitress. Everything was going well until I showed her a Yelp discount coupon. She said she needed to verify with the manager, which I think is reasonable, but after that moment, her attitude changed completely. At the moment of checking out, she dismissed the coupon because she did not mention it to the manager. I pointed out, and she was definitely upset. The manager came and nicely gave me the discount. The bbq rolls were so good and the fried pickles......let's just say that this is the only way to eat fried pickles. THICK CUT. The minute we walked in we were greeted and every staff member was so welcoming and kind. My oldest son is in a wheelchair and they were so accommodating and made sure to give us a good size table to make sure there was plenty of room. I was so happy that I tried the Kooky Canuck. I had a not so great breakfast that morning somewhere else and was just hoping for something decent for lunch. Instead, this was really good. My waitress, Sarah, who I had 2 days in row, was fantastic! I got the Cobb salad and loved it. I also got fried green tomatoes on the side. Everything was delicious.
