I'm not sure how to fill about this place. When this place 1st opened the food and service was a solid, I'll come back. Fast forward Dec. 2025, it's meh. The food is dang near trash, the service is trasher!! I've yet to understand how people apply for a job they clearly want and then are horrible at that role!! I NEED servers to understand and hear me CLEARLY, you DO NOT get paid if there are no customers. So next time, you're having a bad day, please go in the restroom and get yourself together and then come back and serve the people with a pleasant attitude AND smile on your face. As far as I'm concerned be an actress for the day if that helps. Came to Sage for a friend's birthday brunch. Sitting was fine as she had reservations. Mind you, we were close to end of closing time (they accepted the reservation) but that's NO EXCUSE for running out of food items. Who's doing inventory? Just asking, or how about send someone to Kroger to get the missing items. People need to learn to be creative and think outside the box vs "we out of erthing". As I was saying, immediately hit us with, "last call for food is at 2:30p and we're out dang near everything". WTF...fine let me order the stuff no one wants. I ordered the shrimp and grits and asked if the tails could be removed. You would have thought I asked for someone to sign the Bill of Rights. A simple, "I'll put that request in with the kitchen" would have sufficed instead of telling me "what they don't normally do". I don't normally tip when I get bad service but yet when you're in large party you have to, so go figure. The Shrimp and grits were BASIC; where's the Gouda cheese (I was told it's a "sauce", NO!! I want to TASTE my cheese). I stuck with water in fear of "we don't have XYZ". Luckily the table company was great because the service nor the food was NOT. Oh I'll add this bit, a guest at the table was told "they were out of French Toast" (mind you it's bread, can the chef cook, asking for a friend). At least two orders of French Toast came out after this notice. . Then they served us plastic ware!!! Have you know anyone to eat S&Gs with plastic ware, not to self, start traveling with my own utensils. I'm all about cleanliness but come on, some dishes deserve proper cutlery. Then two guest arrived later and ordered French Toast. Wait, we thought you were out? Waitress: "Oh the cook made a mistake and you already had paced your order." Excuse, Miss Ma'am, where do they do that? Free Lesson here: come back to the table and notify the guest there was an error and ASK if they'd like to change their order. I promise you that will take your server experience far!! So I say, if you couldn't care less about exceptional service or food, this is your place!!! Just not for me; excuse me for expecting more out of some restaurants (fill in the blank).

Came here for a night cap. I thought there was supposed to be a live DJ on Saturday night but maybe the flyer I saw was wrong. Anywho, ordered the fried shrimp and hot wings (both so so good!). Also ordered The Crew and Strawberry Hennessy cocktails. Both cocktails were syrupy so we couldn't catch the flavor of the ingredients as a unit. The restaurant is very intimate and well decorated. Our server, Jessica, was perfect. She introduced herself, answered questions about the menu, checked on us just enough and cleared our dishes so we could enjoy our drinks and conversation. I'd come back to taste their entrees.
This wasn't my first time at Sage and probably won't be the last. In town with friends, we decided to stop in Sage for a quick bit. They were just reopening for the day and decided to sit at the bar. My friend ordered the salad, which was a good portion size. I had the wings and fries to sober up and the season on the wings?!? OMG they need to bottle it and sell it!! Our server, was good, my friends had a strawberry Hennessy and it was good, yes I tasted it! The music was really low but overall it was a good vibe.
Sage is great. I've been both for happy hour and brunch. I always sit at the bar, the service is top tier. They're churning out consistently great food. The soul rolls and wings are always a hit, and the drinks are always strong! Give them a try
Popped in on a Sunday afternoon and was immediately seated...party of 1 benefit. I LOVE the decor... they really livened up the place. It has a restaurant / lounge feel with exposed vents and concrete flooring, but they've added greenery and sage green accents throughout. They had a great music playlist going, TVs showing black sitcoms, great customers, and delicious food. I had the brioche French Toast and turkey sausage, along with a couple of mimosas. Overall, the food was excellent! The turkey sausage wasn't salty and had excellent flavor and seasoning, and the French Toast was cooked really well. The mimosas had a good kick to them... I had one, ordered another, and then immediately regretted ordering a second because I started to feel my first one. If you are a fan of great food, this is a must try. It's walking distance in downtown and on a bit of a secluded street (on a Sunday). It also helps that it is black-owned if you are partial to wanting to support. I only deducted 1 start because I think of much thicker French toast when I hear brioche. I don't live in the area and did see the pics online. I was a little worried, but the French Toast really was excellent regardless! Tips: They add a service charge for cards, and the tip is included, regardless of party size Read your receipts. Kudos Sage! I loved it!
This restaurant came highly recommended so I was excited about checking it out. They open at 11am and we were standing by the door at 10:50am because we wasn't sure of the layout. When they opened the door people came out of no where, we looked up and the place was packed in less than 15minutes. We started with a carafe of Mimosa which was a nice mixture it was actually pretty good so we ordered another one. Most of the dishes are waffles or biscuits. We tried the soul waffle stuffed with Chicken, mac & cheese, collard greens. It taste like a crispy stuffed funnel cake. It was unique and good. I ordered the chicken and waffles and the chicken stood out more than the waffle. I'm not sure if it was because the waffle taste bland or because the chicken was really tasty and crispy. Either way the entree was good. Great presentation. Shrimp and grits was prepared really good and it didn't have a lot of unnecessary sauce it had the perfect blend. I understand why this place gets packed. The food was delicious and it wasn't overpriced.
Insanely delicious! We tried the fried cauliflower and peach cobbler as well as what is pictured (pan seared chicken and fish/chips). It was all delicious. Service was great, vibe was cool. Definitely making this a regular spot.

SAGE " Serving A Great Experience" The food here is amazing! So amazing in fact, we requested to meet the chef and ask him where he learned to cook like that. Personally, I travel the world in search of GREAT food and this restaurant, SAGE, met the mark! I was a bit weary of the service at first... But, I must say Charles and Rickey (Owners) made sure that my family and I felt and experienced the "GREAT EXPERIENCE" that SAGE aims to provide. Special shoutout to our waitress KD who listened, served, and ensured that the restaurant was clean and well maintained during our visit. Overall, beautiful restaurant and great food! The food here is delicious! In all honesty, I keep ordering the catfish and grits and eat every last bit every time! You might try with a side of shrimp, but honestly, the fish with the grits gets the job done-- it's so yummy! You will be ready for a sweet little nap after :) The inside is cute, not overly large, but comfortable enough with a pretty good playlist and sometimes they have a DJ. The drinks are good too! Pro tip: order the spicy margarita (I forget the actual name) and enjoy it WITH the lime! I nibbled little bits of lime and sipped the drink. That was a whole experience for me and I think that others should be so fortunate to have such a tasty treat! Something about the tart lime, the spice they use, and the drink, can't quite put my finger on it, but it's a YES for me! Also tried the mimosa flight. Important that you stir them all first to get the full flavor. My favorite is the lavender. That soul waffle they have on the menu (not pictured) is so unique, you might not think to order it, but I had a taste of that too and I was amazed! Food was ok. Had the oowee rolls, only 2 full rolls cut in half, not fully filled, but flavorful. I also had the catfish burger, the catfish needed more seasoning, but the sweet potato fries were good. Hubby had the shrimp and grits and he enjoyed them. IMO, they had more flavor than the catfish. The music was fire. The seating is pretty close, you could hear the conversation of the table next to you. There are single restrooms and the ladies room was clean. Service was good. read more

One thing about me I'm real when it come to these reviews and I will say THIS WAS THE BEST FOOD IVE HAD AT A RESTAURANT IN A WHILE. First thing that really gave them an A+ for me was they have happy hour 5pm until 9pm So for my working folks this is the perfect happy hour for y'all. But I know y'all here for the food so let's get into it. I will let you know everything tasted as good as everything looked!! We started with the sticky wings! I HIGHLY recommend those. Lol I literally could've got 2 orders of those because THEY SMACKEDDDDDD fr. It was the sauce for me. Then for my entree I got the the glazed Salmon..... tell me why the glaze was the same sauce that was on the wings BRUHHHH it was so good! Everything was seasoned to perfection and came out HOT! No shade no tea. Our bartender was literally on it allll night! She got us right without even having to ask for stuff. This is a 10/10 recommendation and I do suggest y'all go through the week because it is less crowded and you'll be able to get more of an intimate vibe unless you like the turnt up wait an hour to sit down type of weekend vibe lol. But now I see why the wait be over an hour wait on the weekends! The food and staff is actually really good. Pull up on them! read more
Everything: food, service, music, atmosphere PERFECT. I rarely give 5's. BUT the food is well seasoned and delicious. My husband had the seared chicken with sweet potato and greens. I had the bowtie pasta with Alfredo and chicken. Believe me, You cant go wrong here! read more

FYI - there is now a surcharge for paying with a debit or credit card. It's 2.9%. Highly recommend the soul rolls. The catfish was really good too. The catfish burger is essentially a fish sandwich which was yummy. read more

First time in Memphis, we walk in the restaurant. The lady walks in front of us doesn't even hold the door for us. She walks away comes back. She tries to seat us with the menu in our hand. I said can we sit outside? She said sure she doesn't follow us. Doesn't bring us any menus five minutes go by I go back and get the menu myself Another five minutes go by she still hasn't came and asked us for anything or bring any water..... anything ...another five minutes ago by we just decided not to stay. I go back inside to return the menu... it was mad weird . We heard about this stop from tik tok and was excited to try some Memphis food while stopping by on a road trip. Very unprofessional, distasteful, disappointing experience with this restaurant. We took our money elsewhere read more
This restaurant is small but packs a punch with a whole vibe. The music was on point and the food was good. We were a party of 6. I had the fish bites and the salmon burger. The fish bites were really good! They were properly seasoned (important) and deliciously crispy and hot. They hot sauce was bomb. I asked our waitress to not bring the tarter sauce but she brought it anyway...wasteful. The salmon burger is not a ground salmon patty. Instead, it's a big fillet of salmon on a bun with burger toppings. It comes with a sriracha aioli but I left that off. The burger was okay. It was too much salmon so I ended up taking some off to make it easier to eat. The fries were good but not great. The salmon burger and fries were lukewarm--I prefer my food be too hot than lukewarm. I heard the wings were great and the seasoning on the cauliflower makes you thirsty lol read more

Delicious food all around from the my meal of chicken which was flavorful and a side of broccoli and sweet potatoes that were bursting with flavor with each bite. Great job from the team working here as well as the over environment to make you feel comfy here. read more

This was a nice and cozy place to dine with the family. Our waiter was friendly and the food was good. We were on vacation visiting Memphis. I recommend this place for a nice vibe with some good old school RnB read more
First and foremost, I love the vibes! The ambience is chill/intimate and the playlist was on point. My fiancé and I came here for date night on a Thursday around 8p. They weren't very busy at all so it was pretty easy to grab a seat. There isn't a whole lot of seating inside so keep that in mind. There is some outside seating. We ordered sticky wings with lemon pepper sprinkled on top (a suggestion made by our beautiful waitress) and spicy grilled shrimp. The shrimp wasn't anything over the top, just shrimp with Cajun spice. Tasted pretty good to me. The wings were actually really yummy. They remind me of Korean fried chicken. For drinks we ordered a strawberry Hennessy and the Molly Spaulding martini. They were both good, but I LOVED the molly martini. Super sweet. Tastes like candy. My kind of stuff lol. Overall, good food and good drinks. Nice little black-owned spot in downtown Memphis. We will definitely be back. I'd love to catch them for brunch. read more

Walking towards Beale Thursday the gentleman at the door stopped us and asked us to come eat there. After a small walk on Beale for some souvenirs his welcoming personality took us back to his restaurant. Best decision!! At first we didn't get a starter so we would eat all our food, but we were convinced to try the Soul Rolls and he was not wrong. They are a must!! We had a few different plate and they were all so good. Now for three days all we have shared with anyone that will listen is how good this place is. He mentioned they just reopened, so with that said we wish them the best success as it's well deserved. The only reason I did 4 out of 5 was that it was pretty warm in there and they didn't have a dessert on the menu. read more

I used to come here when we lived in Memphis, decided to return after being gone two years. Still great brunch, but the definitely changed the menu. Prices are great, drinks average $13 and you can get a pitcher for $25. Service is always on point and if you're looking for good music. read more

While I'm not 100% certain, the space is rather small with a very open floor concept! They didn't appear to have any closed off areas! Double check though to be sure!
