Country fried steak, lima beans, and pinto beans
    Dianna S.

Had lunch plans with some friends this past Saturday. I have been to this restaurant multiple times. It is pretty consistent and the food is good. They serve home-cooked food with a variety of vegetables available. Also, they have different daily specials. I ordered the country fried steak with lima and pinto beans. I also ordered a basket of jalapeño hush puppies. The hush puppies are delicious. My friend ordered catfish with two pieces of fish and it looked really good. I will need to order that next time. The restaurant is fairly big and has many tables and chairs for patrons. The decor is not fancy but cozy. Had to utilize the men's bathroom as the women's bathroom was busy. The only downside was the men's bathroom did not smell all that great. The parking lot is always busy as there are multiple businesses in the shopping plaza. Our server, Rachel was very nice. She was very patient with us and filled up our water and drinks often. The food came out quickly. I am sure we will return to eat there again. I appreciate that the food is quality and consistent. The friendly waiters and waitresses help make your visit pleasant.

This is a small establishment that I've heard many good things About so we decided to give them a try on a Tuesday evening. It's a small restaurant but can seat about 50-75 people so i guess not so small. When you walk in, there's a chalk board with their specials and some of the things that they can't serve for the day because they ran out. Today we couldn't get fried okra-bummer. We were greeted by a young lady! She was very nice and we were immediately seated! Our waitress was also nice! Me and my husband both ordered Arnold palmers. Mine came with a spoon in it, i guess to stir it up, but my husbands did not. We then placed our orders. I ordered the hamburger steak with macaroni and cheese and greens with a cornbread roll. My husband got the catfish plate with onion rings and slaw. For some reason our food took a long time to come out. They waitress came over to apologize but it kept looking like people who came in after were getting their food before us! Not sure what that was about. But when we got our food, it was just warm. The only thing that seemed fresh and hot was the hamburger steak. The macaroni and cheese was hard, the greens had absolutely no seasoning at all and had the texture of frozen spinach. My husband's fish was good but again, it wasn't hot. I didn't bother tasting his slaw or onion rings because neither looked that good! The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the staff was extremely nice. Nothing stood out that would make me come back. But i am glad to have tried it.

Always a great meal for a decent price! I ordered the pork cutlet with brown gravy, green beans, sweet potato casserole, and roll. For desert I had a fried peach pie drizzled with chocolate! Powdered sugar was an option, but why not go all out with the chocolate drizzle? I placed my order to go and waited about 20-30mins, the cashier was so sweet, but everyone that I've encountered here has been sweet and helpful. The parking lot was packed, but that isn't unusual for this restaurant. They do have daily lunch specials, so be sure to check the board or call. I will continue to order from here and maybe sit down for dinner one day, but in the mean time, I will order take out. I do advise to call your order in, the phone line is sometime busy, but if you can get thru place your order over the phone if short on time. Overall the pork cutlet, sweet potato casserole, and peach pie were all very good. The green beans were just ok and the roll was a bit dry and hard, I used it to soak up gravy. I'm adding this to my rotation. If you haven't tried them, check them out! The place is very casual and homey like.

Visiting from out of town this restaurant was recommended as a place for good southern cooking. We went on a Sunday with our family. Service was excellent however the food was just mediocre. We had hush puppies and fried green tomatoes for appetizers. Hush puppies were good but heavy on the breading. Fried green tomatoes were crispy and not greasy. Very good. I had a single pork chop with cabbage and white beans on the side. Pork chop was juicy. Cabbage was over cooked. White beans were bland. White gravy was blah. Fried chicken livers were over cooked. Chicken fried steak was not a wow factor. Hard to please these Vegas peeps who are connoisseurs of great food. Probably will not return ... sorry.

I had the blue plate lunch. Country fried steak, 2 veg., and cornbread. The wafer thin piece of "steak" was encased in 4x its thickness in batter. The veg tasted canned and unseasoned. The greens were cold and seemed to have been served straight from the can. The cornbread was dry and flavorless. The waitress made her first and only callback with the bill after I finished. I won't return.

My Mother and I were looking for some comfort food after a stressful day and me not wanting to cook due to being later in the day; so I reverted back to my trusty Yelping reviews and found something new. Sweetpea's came highly recommended in the immediate vicinity and this definitely won't be our last visit. We entered the restaurant from the rear parking lot which is the suggested entrance and were greeted immediately by the host. While being lead to our table I was able to observe that this was a regular spot for everyone noticing several tables with just one customer who were enjoying a table full of dishes and other larger tables with several customers engaging in good company and food. Our waitress promptly greeted us while taking our drink order where I also asked for an appetizer of onion rings. Those Onion rings were absolutely the Best my Mother and I have Ever had! The batter was light and crispy accompanied by ranch and ketchup. Mama and I also both opted for the country fried steak with white gravy where we enjoyed every single bite. Also, if you are a lover of sweet potato casserole, you're probably going to want seconds. We're looking forward to our next visit.

It's ok - nothing exceptional. Nice atmosphere, service was a bit slow but who knows, may be the common problem with the COVID. I got the grilled chicken breast - thin, overcooked and dry. Vegetables were fine. My partner got the grilled catfish, said it was delicious. Portions were acceptable, contrary to what somebody said. We were going to get chocolate pie, but they sold out. Might return if I was in the area, but wouldn't make a special trip. It's "southern cookin" so prepare for fried food, although it can be escaped. $25.54

Sweet Peas Southern Cooking is another hiding gem in Bartlett. The double cheeseburger charbroil grilled seasoned well. Hand cut lightly battered onion rings. My family decided to try this restaurant based on a friend's recommendation. My Dad loves southern cooking, especially fried catfish. The environment is a bit run down and not very clean. But, we enjoyed most of the food and the service was great the entire meal! My Dad said the catfish was pretty good. He enjoyed the hush puppies and sweet potato casserole a lot. My nephew enjoyed his catfish, hush puppies, onion rings, and sweet potato casserole. He said it was all good. His girlfriend got fried chicken fingers, fries, and Mac-n-cheese. She really enjoyed her whole meal. I got blackened chicken strips and loved them. The green beans were good, but my side salad was disappointing. It was iceberg lettuce, 4 mini cherry tomatoes, potato sticks, and some cheese. It could use some carrots and cucumber, and a few more tomatoes. So, if you like a dive with great service and good food you should give them a try.

Tonight on the way home we were trying to decide where to stop for dinner since life has gotten in the way of me cooking this week. As we were driving through Bartlett, I read the name off of the front window of Sweetpea's and we turned around and went back. We had a good time. All of the waitresses were extremely nice. The food was good Southern cooking. Chicken fried steak with gravy, white beans, macaroni and cheese, and cornbread (thank goodness they know that Southern cornbread should not have sugar in it) - Yum!! The desserts looked wonderful, but we were to full to try them. We will be going back another time.

The hostess seated my wife & I and our server Carter did N excellent job for us. The restaurant is large and well spaced out. It is also clean and the ambiance is a home type feel. We started with the Fried pickles cooked in fresh oil and came out hot. The country dip is good. Basically roast beef cut up and provolone melted cheese on top within a roll plus an au jou dipping sauce. It's chunkier than a normal French dip but it is good. Flavor wise, it was average and could have been seasoned a bit more. The beef is barely above the bland side as far as pot roast beef is concerned. However, combined together the components elevate the sandwich. It's worth the try to see if one would like it. French fries were good and freshly lightly salted. Cole slaw was basic. Not too creamy but also not sweet. My wife got the fettuccini Alfredo with grilled chicken. It was good and you will notice the grilled flavoring on the chicken. For me, the food could have benefited from a bit more seasoning but that is subjective. They let me sample the Smoked Catfish Dip, which is served cold. It was delicious, so I had that for my appetizer. It's a huge portion and would be more than enough for 2-3 people to share. It comes with tortilla chips and they recommend trying it with the green Tabasco sauce. That adds a little heat to it. For my beer, I had a Memphis Made Fireside Amber Ale, which paired well with the both the appetizer and my entree. My entree was the Blackened Catfish with White Beans and Hushpuppies. I also tried their Homemade Tartar Sauce and Remoulade. Everything was excellent. I noticed they do quite a bit of carry out, to go orders. It looked like their to go orders outnumbered the actual restaurant patrons inside. They had a few waitresses constantly prepping carry out bags, filling sauces, etc...almost assembly line style, just to keep up. My dinner with tip was $50 plus.
