Another great visit to the kitchen table. Hubby and I stopped in for a late dinner. He hadn't been here before, but I have been once with the ladies from work. I ordered the fried redfish served over Gouda grits with a Cajun crawfish sauce. This dish was EXCELLENT! The Gouda grits had a little bit of a kick to them and the crawfish sauce had an amazing flavor which made the whole thing an over the top flavorful dish. My husband ordered the pork chop and wasn't a fan. The pork chop was overcooked and dried out. While overcooked, the chop did have a nice smoked flavor. He quashed he had ordered the redfish because he loved the flavor of my dish, so we shared. He had fries and Mac n cheese with his dish and both were good. We loved the truffle fries dipped in ketchup. Something about the combination just works together. We finished the night off with their yummy bread pudding! The kitchen table is a beautiful restaurant in a lovely part of Arlington. They have a huge outdoor seating area and the weather was great, so most people sat outside, but we sat inside. I went in with high expectations as it seems to be the only fancy spot for a long distance around. Also, I was a fan of the previous restaurant in this building, Vinegar Jim's. The service was friendly and the drinks were surprisingly good, though their cocktail menu is primarily sweet beachy drinks which I don't prefer. We started with the BBQ shrimp and burnt ends plate, both of which were excellent. My girlfriend and brother both got the Debris Samich, which I liked but they did not as the bun was rather soggy. I thought it tasted good and was happy to treat it as a knife and fork sandwich. I had the 38-day dry aged prime ribeye- which was offered at a great price for the quality and the treatment of the meat. The center was cooked exactly how I ordered it, but around the outside the meat somehow appeared to be raw while simultaneously having a burnt crust on the outside. I was underwhelmed because even though most of the steak was great the burnt bits turned me off. We had a few desserts, and my favorite was the butter cake. They're definitely worth a try. I really enjoyed my experience at The Kitchen table. The ambiance is nice and family friendly, the service was great, and the food is chef's kiss! I tried several things that day. Wait, before I go any further! The sweet tea is the best I have had in a long time. It is served in a mason jar, and it taste like it was brewed in a tea kettle by your grandma. It is a must try if you are ever in the area. On to the food! I started with the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp. It comes with jumbo shrimp sauteed in a bold, buttery sauce infused with garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Cajun spices, and a hint of lemon. It comes with French bread. I enjoyed this dish even though I didn't taste much BBQ sauce. It's more like shrimp scampi if I am being honest. The bread was definitely buttery and good! For my meal I had the crawfish lasagna and collard greens for the side. The greens definitely have that southern homecooked taste. The lasagna was the start of the show for sure. I tried it because I never had it before and they did their thing! It was loaded with tones of crawfish, peppers, onions, cheese, and cajun sauce. This is worth every penny spent. We frequent TKT about once a month or so because the food, the service, and the atmosphere are always excellent. This time, I tried a new menu item--they add and take away items fairly often so you can try new things. The turkey melt had smoked turkey and came on Texas toast. The sandwich was really good, as one would expect with thick cut bacon and smoked turkey. I was very pleased with this new item and will certainly get it again, unless they add something else new that catches my eye. read more

Dined here for the first time today for lunch and it was excellent! Just a heads-up that the lunch and dinner menus do vary. What we ordered: Sweet tea: Being in the South, I always judge a place by its sweet tea. This is the molasses-style sweet tea--very sweet--so I'd recommend cutting it with unsweetened tea. Breakfast egg rolls: Delicious overall. The filling could've used a little more salt or seasoning, but the gravy was absolute perfection. Chicken & waffles: Fluffy waffles that leaned slightly sweet, but paired really well with the flavorful, well-fried chicken and maple syrup. I recommend asking for the syrup on the side. The portion is large enough to share. Buffalo chicken sliders: The clear winner of the day! The buffalo sauce was perfect, the buns were soft and fluffy, the chicken was crispy, and the shoestring fries were cooked just right. Caesar salad: Decent, but the real star was the blackened shrimp. The seasoning was excellent, and I'd definitely try something blackened again! Overall: Very good food, friendly and fast service, and a cute environment. I'd absolutely come back for dinner and would recommend it to anyone. read more

This place is a hidden gem! Had a great time with friends Friday evening. The food tasted delicious and our server was super nice! Shout out to Tasha!! We started off with deviled eggs with candied bacon. The mixture was smooth and had a slight kick of heat. The candied bacon added to the appetizer. The fried green tomatoes were a nice recommendation. Some in our party did not like the pimento cheese. It was different. The candied bacon on top was a tasty treat. My friend ordered the blackened catfish with Parmesan truffle fries. She also had a jalapeño corn muffin on the side. The catfish was moist and cooked to perfection. The delicious fries were a great compliment to the fish. The flavor was on point. Another friend ordered meat loaf that had a variety of seasonings and the gravy was not too salty. It came with long yummy broccolini. They ordered collard greens as well and enjoyed those. The chicken kebabs were okay. Friend said the marinade was a little too sweet for her and would have liked it to be a tad more spicy. My other friend said her BLT was very good as the pork belly had a good flavor and was tasty. I ordered the shrimp and grit cake. I like the subtle spice in the gravy and grit cake. The shrimp was not over cooked and seasoned. We were sorta stuffed but decided to share the bread pudding. Tasted like a cinnamon roll which is a little different. A tad pricey for the amount you receive. It is quite unique. I really enjoyed eating here at this quaint place in the older part of Arlington. It is larger and very bright with country like decor. It reminds me of a country inn or restaurant in a bed and breakfast. A cute neighborhood restaurant tucked in the middle of Arlington. It's surrounded by beautiful homes and walking paths that are the heartbeat of this establishment. Found this place on our way back home to Texas. So glad we did, I looked at the lunch menu and picked out the crawfish lasagna with a side order of gumbo, chicken and sausage. I got to say I had my doubts about the lasagna, but it was actually exceptionally good. The taste of the crawfish really came through and made this dish something special. I love it when you get a tea glass it's in a quart jar size because you know you're not going to have to ask for very many refills. The wait person was extremely friendly and welcoming. Let's start with the atmosphere. The inside and outside of the restaurant is full of charm. It's welcoming and homey! Our server was fantastic, attentive, and friendly. We felt well taken care of while we dined in. Now onto the best part: the food. My gosh. The menu alone was enough to get us interested in coming to check it out! I ordered the wedge salad and the southern poutine and both knocked my socks off. The flavor combination of the dressing, tomatoes, Gorgonzola cheese and candied bacon was perfection. But the poutine stole the show! So much flavor in every bite!!! Phew. I would come back JUST for that dish. (And I literally can't wait to come back!) I have been here a couple times since they converted this place. I love the new porch!! They have tried to keep the shade on you and it will be such a hit when it's not 90 degrees outside. But it is so beautiful!!!! They have great service, if you have any questions or needs they are great to answer or help accommodate you if they can. I also appreciated this. The purple hull pea hummus was so good but they literally DRENCHED it in truffle oil to the point I thought it was water pooling in the bowl and just about got a migraine when all that truffle oil touched my tongue. We tried to eat around it but we couldn't finish it. The debris sandwich was meh and just tasted like pot roast on bread. However, the TKT burger was hands down the best burger I've had in the Memphis area!! So, I think they have a lot of potential but they're still working out the kinks in the kitchen. We sat outside so we weren't by a lot of people and the patio is mostly covered and they have a lot of fans. Kind of an odd experience. The food was "ok". I got the crawfish roll but it was served on a hot dog bun. When I asked where the brioche roll was, they said they ran out. Wouks have been good info to know before I ordered! My wife ordered the sliders and ordered potato wedges. They didn't tell her they come with that side already and they came with an extra side of wedges. Not that big a deal, but some better communication from the server might have made this a better experience. As it stands, way too much money for a meal that was a forty minute drive for me to get there. read more
