Fantastic menu, awesome atmosphere and incredible service. We had a party of 9 and tried most of the appetizers (all were tasty) and several main dishes. I had the catfish sliders which was the perfect choice. I definitely recommend this little gem and enjoy the outdoor dining.

Biscuits topped with gumbo - delicious! $10

Delicious breakfast/brunch options with a creole influence. I ordered the gumbo biscuits, and they did not disappoint! Arlington is a little bit of a haul from where I live, but I would definitely dine there again if someone else wanted to, or if I was in the area.

This place is a hidden gem! Had a great time with friends Friday evening. The food tasted delicious and our server was super nice! Shout out to Tasha!! We started off with deviled eggs with candied bacon. The mixture was smooth and had a slight kick of heat. The candied bacon added to the appetizer. The fried green tomatoes were a nice recommendation. Some in our party did not like the pimento cheese. It was different. The candied bacon on top was a tasty treat. My friend ordered the blackened catfish with Parmesan truffle fries. She also had a jalapeño corn muffin on the side. The catfish was moist and cooked to perfection. The delicious fries were a great compliment to the fish. The flavor was on point. Another friend ordered meat loaf that had a variety of seasonings and the gravy was not too salty. It came with long yummy broccolini. They ordered collard greens as well and enjoyed those. The chicken kebabs were okay. Friend said the marinade was a little too sweet for her and would have liked it to be a tad more spicy. My other friend said her BLT was very good as the pork belly had a good flavor and was tasty. I ordered the shrimp and grit cake. I like the subtle spice in the gravy and grit cake. The shrimp was not over cooked and seasoned. We were sorta stuffed but decided to share the bread pudding. Tasted like a cinnamon roll which is a little different. A tad pricey for the amount you receive. It is quite unique. I really enjoyed eating here at this quaint place in the older part of Arlington. It is larger and very bright with country like decor. It reminds me of a country inn or restaurant in a bed and breakfast. I am very glad a friend recommended the newish place that used to be Vinegar Jim's. I will definitely return!

We went for Mother's Day. We were nervous because they didn't have any reservations available so we just showed up and got immediately seated! The food was phenomenal! We also had the spinach dip as an appetizer. Our waitress was awesome and so sweet!! Can't wait to come back to try dinner

Delicious food, always fun to sit outside on the weekends and enjoy brunch. Mimosas and cocktails too!

Beignets and the devil eggs with candied bacon

A cute neighborhood restaurant tucked in the middle of Arlington. It's surrounded by beautiful homes and walking paths that are the heartbeat of this establishment. A great sense of community and small town feels just make this place feel like home. The staff was very kind and attentive. They ensured the needs of their patrons are met and they are all indeed very polite! To top it off, the food was fantastic. I only took pictures of the appetizers, but everything was delicious. The beignets were so flaky and soft! Will definitely be going back!

Crawfish lasagna and chicken and sausage gumbo
Mark F.

Found this place on our way back home to Texas. So glad we did, I looked at the lunch menu and picked out the crawfish lasagna with a side order of gumbo, chicken and sausage. I got to say I had my doubts about the lasagna, but it was actually exceptionally good. The taste of the crawfish really came through and made this dish something special. I love it when you get a tea glass it's in a quart jar size because you know you're not going to have to ask for very many refills. The wait person was extremely friendly and welcoming. Would definitely find this place again on another trip through this area.

Let's start with the atmosphere. The inside and outside of the restaurant is full of charm. It's welcoming and homey! Our server was fantastic, attentive, and friendly. We felt well taken care of while we dined in. Now onto the best part: the food. My gosh. The menu alone was enough to get us interested in coming to check it out! I ordered the wedge salad and the southern poutine and both knocked my socks off. The flavor combination of the dressing, tomatoes, Gorgonzola cheese and candied bacon was perfection. But the poutine stole the show! So much flavor in every bite!!! Phew. I would come back JUST for that dish. (And I literally can't wait to come back!) We also had the cookie ice cream sandwich and the cookie of the day was peanut butter. The caramel sauce on top was delicious and I could have eaten a bowl of that alone! I also tried the deviled eggs and stole a bite of my daughter's burger and my sister's meatloaf and it was all stellar!!! The kids loved their cotton candy, too! Well done, guys, and keep up the amazing work!!!

I have been here a couple times since they converted this place. I love the new porch!! They have tried to keep the shade on you and it will be such a hit when it's not 90 degrees outside. But it is so beautiful!!!! They have great service, if you have any questions or needs they are great to answer or help accommodate you if they can. I also appreciated this. I am very grateful this place has kept the Cajun heritage alive. It is delicious food and even better catfish! I am super excited to have them in Arlington!!! They have a large gravel parking lot, and a ramp for handicapped access. They do have parchment paper for kids to draw on every table.

The food was amazing with a lot of great flavor. The drink was a Tartini and was very tasty! Our waitress was very friendly with great recommendations. Very welcoming environment with a home country vibe.

Inside was clean. HOWEVER the female owner was very hostile. We asked for a drink menu and was given two by two different staff members. None of the two staff members stated the prices were not accurate in the menu. Some people at the table ordered margaritas based off the price in the menu. The shock that was had when one of the tabs was an additional 48$ for 4 drinks when the menu stated they were 5.50 each for a regular or 7.50 for a large. When it was brought to the manager's attention, she went to the owner. The owner was very hostile and slapping her hands together borderline yelling at the table then walked away. She acted like a high school girl with an attitude.

My 5 year old was falling asleep at the table after we waited an hour to get our food and another 45 to get our bill. Usually good wait staff can see it was clearly time to go home but no one noticed or came by to offer our check. The waitress was friendly when she did come but never apologized for taking so long. I don't think they even realize how long they take? The spinach dip was straight up gross. Tasted like sour cream with spinach and it was warm not hot. I like spinach dip to have a nice crispy top and a creamy inside with a good ratio of cheese, spinach, artichoke etc. this dip was gross, I couldn't finish it. My son and husband had burgers that were decent. Place was nice inside but we won't be coming back. Overall bad experience

As soon as you're seated, you'll have a tempting signboard presented at your table with every southern classic you can imagine. With entrees like fried chicken and catfish, endless sides like turnip greens, white beans, and just about anything you can imagine fried, and every kind of southern pie, it's all there. The catfish is magnificent, with that wonderfully gritty cornmeal batter surrounding flaky, tender fish. The complimentary roll is also delicious! And the servers are very nice here! But there are some downsides. The fried okra, my favorite southern side dish, is actually soft and soggy. No self respecting southerner would ever make soggy fried okra. It's about the worst I ever had. And the onion rings, which are hard to mess up, were burnt black and lacked flavor. They were inedible. The cashier is rude and doesn't have time for "thank you" or small talk or a smile or even giving you your receipt when nobody else is in line to pay their bill. That's just how it is. If you want good catfish, Sling Shot Charlie's will come through. But if you want a southern culinary experience that's enjoyable, there are much better places to have it!

I had the veggie plate with butter beans (they were a bit sweet and limas, not true butter beans), fried squash (the slice it long ways and hand batter), spinach mashed potatoes, and deviled eggs (delicious, no notes). I tried both hush puppies and a roll. Personally, the hush puppies weren't my favorite, but the roll was buttery goodness:). Most importantly, I asked our server at the beginning if they still had chocolate cobbler and if they were running low to go ahead and bring it out. At first they had plenty, but a few minutes later cobbler was in front of me because she noticed it was running low. So dessert first! Don't mind if I do:) it was warm, gooey, and delicious. Others in my group had the chicken fried steak, and chicken tenders. Everyone was very happy with their meals! Service was great, though the kitchen was a little slow. It took about 30 mins to get our meals. Fun, old timey atmosphere - great service - and delicious home cooking. Will definitely be back.
