Small restaurant in an east memphis shopping center. We visited on a Saturday night and the staff were super friendly and helpful always checking to make sure we had everything we needed. They have updated the restaurant and its furnishings which is wonderful. All of the chairs have nice cushion seating. My husband had the fish and chips and throughly enjoyed it. We shared the bacon glazed chili Brussels sprouts which had an excellent flavor. We would have liked for them to have been cooked a little longer and sliced a little smaller, but the flavor was amazing, they were just a tad tougher than we like. I had the two taco combo with grilled zucchini . I t is a huge portion as it comes with two large pieces of zucchini along with the generously filled tacos. I loved the piri piri chicken taco and the grilled shrimp was good, but nothing spectacular. Both of the flour shells were a little crispy which was odd, but overall I enjoyed my meal. I dipped my zucchini in the lemon herb piri piri sauce which is excellent! Give them a try if you are ever in the area. Flew into Memphis mid afternoon and needed some nourishment and for some reason Humdingers came to mind. Been a while since I have been here due to flight schedule. Glad It came to mind. Love these tacos. Plenty of parking and corner restaurant. Walk up to the counter and order and they bring it to you. Friendly folks and service speed was good as they had to make it. Why does this food always make my husband sick? Caeser Salad and Club Sandwich (very different) both made him sick. The Caesar salad was a 3-day plague while the Club Sandwich impact seems to be a bit milder. Sadly, cannot eat here anymore. read more

I was recommended this restaurant by a close friend. Personally, I consider this restaurant to be like a fast food/takeout restaurant. For the quality of food and taste they get 5 stars. I love being able to see the grill and the cooks preparing the food. I was very happy with my order. My salmon was cooked perfect. My grilled zucchini was perfectly cooked (i hate soft grilled vegetables). I also had the shrimp appetizer and it was amazing. The service was great and the cashier offered me a drink while I waited. We went to Humdingers last night with another couple. I had Mahi which I have had before and it was good. Well last night I couldn't cut it with a fork. It was way overcooked so I told them and they cooked another one for me and it was also overcooked. I told them to just give me the Humdinger shrimp and it was fine. My husband and friend both said their fish was overcooked. We got a glass of water and it tasted so bad we couldn't drink it. We complained about that and they acted indifferent about it. Not sure if the restaurant was having a bad day, but they surely disappointed me. I ordered the Salmon Alfredo and the cashier omitted my bread stick. When I noticed on the screen, I informed the cashier that I did want the bread stick. He apologized for assuming that I didn't want the breadsticks. I waited about 10 minutes for my order. When they brought my order, I immediately checked my order. My pasta was semi dry. Half the noodles were uncovered with sauces. When I informed the waitress, she said, it looks sauces to me. I informed her that my pasta was dry and I need more sauce. She brought over a 3oz of sauces and said if I wanted more, it would be $4 more. If don't recommend eat the pasta to go. Stumbled on this gem after checking out a Pilates class next door and am very happy to add a new restaurant to my takeout rotation! I got the blackened salmon with piri-piri sauce, rice pilaf and grilled zucchini and it didn't last long! The fish was fresh and lightly seasoned, veggies had the right amount of char and the rice soaked up some of the sauce just as I wanted. Humdingers Shrimp is pretty dang tasty. It's a milder version of Shrimp appetizer I've seen many times before at quite a few places. Very good though. I have been here several times and the fish is usually pretty good. The sauces that they offer are pretty unique for a fast casual place. I like the Medium Piri Piri sauce on just about everything. Stopped by on my way out of town and enjoyed my lunch here. You walk up, order, sit down and your order is brought to you. The calamari appetizer was crispy, tasty and fresh. There is a good selection of fish or chicken grilled and served with various seasonings and toppings. My Swai (first time eating this) tasted good! They are known for their piri-piri chicken, where piri-piri is basically an african pepper that is the base of the sauces used here. Came here for lunch (March 2) with a coworker (who recommended this place). It was fairly empty when we arrived as it was a late lunch and the customer service was fast. There were a few dirty tables but we were able to find a table to sit and eat. I ordered the Grilled Salmon with Sautéed Piri-Piri Mushrooms and sides of Grilled Zucchini and Side Salad (an up charge). The food was very delicious and large enough portions to have leftovers.
