I have been here before, but I never had poor customer service as I did for this specific occasion celebrating my friend's move out of Memphis. In my opinion, we had the worst waiter. His customer service was trash. He was very rude and obnoxious, and he was not attentive to our group of about seven people. His attitude was not good at all, and the rude comments or "jokes" that he made was very inappropriate and unprofessional. So because of the experience that I had with him, I will not be returning back, which is unfortunate because the food is pretty good there.

Amerigo has quickly become one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Memphis. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed night out. I ordered the chicken ravioli, and it was absolutely delicious rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The bread alone is worth the visit; it came out warm, soft, and honestly could've been a meal by itself. The menu has a great variety, but the dish I had really stood out and made the whole experience memorable. The service was friendly and attentive without feeling pushy. Even when the restaurant got busy, everything came out quickly and tasted fresh. Overall, Amerigo is the type of place you leave already thinking about what you want to try next time.

Tuesday's lunch was most delicious. I had the Chicken Acuto-my go to dish when I come to Amerigos. The chicken dish is light and so flavorful. The different ingredients complement the dish. A friend ordered the calamari appetizer and the artichoke dip. Both appetizers were fantastic. Always consistent and very tasty. The ambience is very sophisticated and sleek. The restaurant is inviting and cozy. I enjoy dining here a lot. Debbie, the hostess was so kind when I called for the reservation for our party of ten. Our server, Marcus was awesome! He was very patient and attentive with our large party. He checked on us a few times when we dined. It was just the right amount of time he gave us to order and serve our food. I am sure we will return again in the near future. We had a grand time!

This is my first visit at Amerigo and it did not disappoint. We were celebrating a birthday so it was a large group at 1:00pm on a Sunday. We were seated and our server Jessica did an amazing job! Orders were placed and service was great. All dishes came out together and the food looked good. I had blackened catfish, jalapeno mac & cheese with italian bacon and greens. The bread was amazing and oil was light with spicy kick but not overpowering. The mac & cheese had no hint of jalapeno and the spiral noodles was odd but the italian bacon was ham which was out of place to me. It made the dish salty. The catfish had a red vodka sauce that was not appetizing and unnecessary. It added nothing to the dish and not appealing to look at. The greens were sweet which is weird but otherwise good. The seafood pasta is a really good dish! I would definitely order that again. The Anold Palmer was the best. Overall really good.

Although I've eaten here many times, we even have our work Christmas lunch here this review is all about one of my favorite desserts of all time, The Pecan Butter Crunch Cake! The staff are always professional and polite, I've never had a bad experience here. The restaurant has a sophisticated feeling without being stuffy. After a long day of appointments I just wanted to pick up my dessert and go home to enjoy it. First of all there are components to this beautiful creation. The cake is a buttery decadent square with pecans. The sauce is a buttery apple concoction that's warm, so is the cake. Lastly the vanilla ice cream to pull it together. It's so rich, I split it to make 2 desserts. So delicious!!

We had a great lunch! The food was very tender and flavorful. The service was speedy with great attitude. This has a fancy vibe but relaxing at the same time.

Visited Amerigo's to celebrate Father's Day 2025. Food was excellent and well portioned. Our waitress Ms. Maddie was very friendly helpful and was a great server. We ordered salmon, calamari, cheese artichoke dip, pizza, chicken pasta and for dessert we had caramel brownie. Everything was very delicious. The restaurant was very clean and well staffed. Food was served in a timely manner. Highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion

We started with an order of the Cheese Fritters, which were comprised of a fried blend of cheese on top of marinara on one side and honey mustard on the other. The blend of cheese was interesting -- I was expecting them to be more Italian-style (parmesan, mozzarella, etc.) but I found the cheddar to be the most prevalent. The breading was delicious and fried to a perfect crisp. However, I found the combination of marinara and honey mustard (and touching) to be strange. I would have preferred all marinara. For my entree, I ordered the Wild Mushroom Ravioli with a Spring Mix Salad. The salad was okay. The balsamic vinaigrette was a little too overpowering - the greens and sparse sprinkle of cherry tomatoes didn't stand much of a chance. I'd probably opt for another dressing next time. The Wild Mushroom Ravioli, however, was excellent. The mushrooms were plentiful and of high quality. The ravioli were cooked perfectly, and the parmesan sauce was creamy and decadent. The chili flakes added a subtle kick, and the spinach was a welcomed addition to the medley of flavors. I concluded my meal with the Tiramisu, which was one of the best I've had. It was more cake-like than others, which was fine by me. The vanilla cream and Kahlua chocolate elevated the dessert to another level. I'd definitely order it again. Overall, I was mostly pleased by my first meal at Amerigo. I would certainly return to explore more of the menu.

Pecan Butter Crunch cake- it was dark in the restaurant and my flash wouldn't work.

On this visit, I sat at the bar. I had a very attentive bar tender. But my wait for food was very long. The bartender apologized profusely for the wait. I didn't mind as I was having a good conversation with a couple of ppl I had just met. My food was great. The wait kept it from getting 5 stars.

Prompt seating upon arrival. The restaurant is perfect for date nights, friend outings and celebrations. Low lighting gives off a soft, reserved glow. Seasonal menu in effect along with normal items. Cocktail: Lavender Martini; refreshingly delicious. One of my favs. Appetizer: OVEN-ROASTED ARTICHOKE CHEESE DIP Entree:LAKE FARM'S CATFISH blackened, smoked gouda jalapeño mac 'n cheese, bacon, braised greens; instant love at first bite. This has become a menu favorite after one visit. The greens have a sweet yet subtle heat. The catfish is perfectly cooked and the macaroni adds just the right finishing touch to the dish.

The hostess said it was a 30 minute wait and we were seated in 15 minutes eating an appetizer in 30 minutes that was WOW! The lighting is perfect along with the low music creating an ambiance like a secluded Italian table in Italy. The food was delicious and was on our table minutes after we ordered and we substituted sauces and sides. Neck and neck with Amerigo's Jackson Mississippi.

I love the sauce, and you can definitely tell the oysters are fresh. Next, we had the steak and mashed potatoes -- the steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. It seemed a little overcooked because it had a slightly burnt taste at the bottom. Overall, the service is always 10/10, and I'd give the food a solid 9/10. Our server was barely attentive to our table. She went around checking on other tables near us, but hardly came to ours at all. The only time she really interacted with us was when she brought the check. No follow-up, no asking how the food was, no drink refills--nothing. It honestly felt like we were overlooked the entire time. To make things worse, she wasn't even the one who brought out our food. Someone else dropped it off, and after that we were basically on our own. For a restaurant at this price point, I expected much more attentive and professional service. The food didn't make up for it either. I ordered the Chilean sea bass, and it was very underwhelming. The fish lacked flavor, the potatoes were soggy, and overall it just wasn't enjoyable. Definitely not what you expect for the price. Overall, between the inattentive service and the disappointing food, the experience just didn't live up to the hype at all.

There weren't that many customers in during this time and I saw quite a few waiters that could have cleaned it up. One more comment - when I used to live in Memphis (maybe 5 years ago?) this restaurant had a piano player some nights. This was AWESOME !!! Any chance of bringing that back??? How in the gash darn hell have I not written a review for The Half Shell Memphis?!?!?…read more I've been coming here since birth. Ok. Maybe not that long. Most definitely since I can remember. My parents had the blandest worst taste for food, so I was a depraved child as far as flavor was concerned. We ate at very blah places and my Mom was the pickiest person in the world, but.... She loved this fried shrimp! So we came here often. I grew up in Parkway Village so we were always nearby. Fast forward to my Yelp days. My first CM, Joelle had a part ownership of this place when I first started Yelping. We even had her going away party here when Yelp ruined the Memphis Elite Program with part time CM's for our city. She was part owner and we hung out there so it seemed inappropriate to write a review. Besides, I knew Danny pretty well too and that was also a conflict. Nowadays it's been bought by the folks that turned Forrest Hill Grill around. They have closed the location on Winchester (which I called years ago) and opened up in Germantown on Poplar. I have no idea who these people are so I guess it's time. I have not been to the new one, but I have seen the menu. I do not have any intentions of rushing to try it. Seems as if they butchered the whole dang menu. Anywho.... I still like this one. It's pretty run down, but the food is still good. It's still the original menu with all the treats. They have a freaking Monte Cristo sandwich folks! I know of less than five places left that still serve them. When is the last time you saw a twice baked potato? Here it is!! They still have a changing weekly, "daily special". They still have an intense regular bar business. Good luck getting a seat at the bar at any given time. Best of all they still have those damn tasty fried shrimp! Oh they are so good! The best ever man. The sauces they serve are great. I've been up and down the menu and it's almost always great. Oysters are some of the best charbroiled that there are anywhere in Shelby County. Long live OG Half Shell! Please never change! '25 - 44/111
