Eating at The Peabody is always a treat and my latest visit to Capriccio showed out too! Was there with a group so we had appetizers, meals and desserts all. Everyone raved throughout. Appetizers we had the breads & butters which I cannot recommend highly enough. Not just me, everyone at the table raved. One girl had loved it so much she hadn't stopped talking about it since last year! The mustard was also a huge discussion point. The seafood tower.... One of our folks couldn't stop eating oysters someone else was totally drawn into the calamari, but for me it was the lobster! Oh my so good! Really all the seafood eaters at the table were very pleased. I had the filet and loaded baked potato which was awesome. We had a range of things at the table (filets, strip, Verona salad, jack's trio, halibut, etc) but the most noteworthy was a new, extravagant burger that includes lobster atop the beef. A kind of surf and turf on a bun. The person ordering it is certain she will never have a burger that rises to the occasion! It was certainly a vision. read more

Came for dinner while staying at The Peabody...with mixed results. The steak (NY strip) was cooked perfectly and tasty. Really enjoyed the soup of the day, which was a creamy chicken florentine. The side loaded baked potato should be shared with at least 2-3, as it is a huge potato. I had the shrimp scampi, which was much less successful. Unlike a traditional scampi which is light, with a garlicky butter sauce and an equally light pasta like angel hair , this "scampi" was heavy, creamy and cheesy...not sure why they called it scampi. Maybe closer to an Alfredo, but even heavy for that. There was so much extra grated cheese on top, it looked like a scoop of ice cream on top when it arrived. The pasta was also heavy and not traditional for a scampi. Additionally, the portion was at least double (maybe more) what it should be. So much wasted, especially for anyone staying at the hotel that cant take home leftovers. I felt so wasteful sending back significantly more than I ate. read more

The tables were cafeteria type with no ambience. Not luxurious at all. Our server was not informative at all about the food or drinks. He said the soup was chicken and beet, but it was actually chicken and bean. He gave us a complimentary dessert of chocolate mousse because he never brought my second drink. The molded chocolate part of the dessert (the duck) was good, but the mousse was too thick. The texture made it seem to be a few days old. We each had the steak and pork tenderloin combination. We had friends in from out of town and decided to take them to the Peabody for dinner. Capriccio was a really bad choice for trying to show them something special. The service was nothing special in a dining room that is dated looking, and honestly lacking in ambience. In our table we tried the salmon, pork tenderloin and the campanelle with shrimp. Both the salmon and the pork were dry, and the pasta dish had virtually no flavor, despite the pasta obviously being fresh. Our friends had insisted on paying before hand. I felt really bad for them for having to pay for such a disappointing meal. We absolutely will not be returning. read more

We came for Christmas dinner, and I was pretty underwhelmed with the food. But, the location and service were great. This is located inside the famous Peabody hotel. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, especially around Christmas time. We parked in the parking garage across the street, but we could have valeted. The restaurant wasn't busy in the slightest for a 5pm reservation. The decor was extremely out dated with chips in the table and average looking dinner plates, nothing fancy. It was $80 a head for a fixed Christmas dinner menu, which I thought was extremely expensive for the quality of food. There was a soup, salad and bread bar that was unlimited, but everything from here was just ok. I didn't like the fact that you had to get up and wait in a buffet like line to get these. For my entree, I got the seared halibut. The fish was delicious by all means. Cooked very good and was moist. The risotto had onions in it, which was a very odd taste for me. Again, the presentation lacked here for a fancy Christmas dinner. My family all got the steak, which they all said was great. For dessert, there were three mini cake options. I really only liked the lemon one. Yet again, presentation let me down. Our waiter was amazing. He was always checking in with us and made sure we had everything. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. The Mediterranean Pizza was a favorite. We swapped chicken for shrimp and it still came out perfect. Crust was great and it needed no changes. The Sea Bass Wrap was light with a slightly sweet, creamy sauce and the fish was seared beautifully. The Sea Bass Fish Tacos were refreshing and delicious with a pineapple salsa that was subtle and not too citrusy. The fruit on the side was very fresh. The Peabody Burger was thick, juicy, and seasoned well with a cute duck branded bun. Fries were good too. The staff was very polite and our server was phenomenal. Being in Memphis for the Thanksgiving holiday and not really having a traditional Thanksgiving meal in mind, we managed to make a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner at the Capriccio Grill. Located inside the classic Peabody Hotel, the Capriccio Grill definitely had an old-school ambience to it. For $80 per person, it was a prefix menu with some available variety. To start, there was a soup and salad bar that contained two different soups and a variety of salads. I decided to try the beef stew, but they also had a broccoli cheddar option. The beef stew had good flavor and the meat was tender. Next, for our entrées, we were given four different choices, including a traditional turkey option, a venison option, a chicken option, and a vegetarian option. Both my father and I decided to opt for the traditional turkey dinner while my husband tried the venison option. The turkey was not bad and luckily was not dry but the sides accompanying the turkey left much to be desired. The green beans were still quite hard and almost entirely undercooked while the stuffing was underseasoned and cold to the touch. For dessert, we were brought a trio of small dessert bites. It included a mini eggnog cheesecake, a mini pumpkin pie, and an opera cake. The cheesecake and the pumpkin pie were tasty, but the opera cake left much to be desired. All in all, for the price and the reputation of the Peabody Hotel, I would have expected a slightly higher quality and more memorable meal, but at the end of the day, what mattered most was spending Thanksgiving with my family. read more

Have lived downtown for years and finally made time to stop in! Food was delicious and our server, kayla, was incredibly kind and attentive. Ambiance is very dated (something I hope will change with the hotels upcoming renovations), but the food and service more than makes up for this. My only complaint seems to be more of a Peabody issue - the old fashioned was absolutely horrible, which is the same experience I have had in the lobby bar. Crushed ice, a muddled orange (and other fruit?), and a horrible tasting liquor ratio ruined this drink. For a hotel that is a southern staple, one would assume a simple, inherently southern cocktail would be a breeze. read more

We had an expensive brunch at Capriccio's. The service was top notch as was the tableside biscuit with butter and jam. I had the crab cake which was generous and meaty portion without the fillers, served with fried green tomatoes. The entree was waffle and fried chicken, buttery and soft waffle served with season and breaded chunks of chicken. The meal ended with a tower of chocolate, raspberry, and banana desserts. I had coffee which was flavorful and bold. The food was delicious and service was attentive. The Bellini was a disappointment, as it was champagne and peach syrup, instead of peach juice/puree. Overall a nice experience and tons of food. I brought all the desserts and 3/4 of the waffle and chicken with me to enjoy as a second meal. read more

My husband and I visited for brunch on a Saturday and we honestly had a wonderful time! We started with biscuits that I thought would be super dry but they were perfection! I think the butter they brought with it was a honey butter, I can't remember, but it was so good with it. We were offered different toppings and I chose lemon curd and I'm so glad I did. The lemon curd elevated a snack into a DISH! It was wonderful and our waitress told us they make the lemon curd in-house. (Made me appreciate it all the more.) My husband and I both got coffee which was pressed and left at our table. Loved. That. It was smooth and we both enjoyed it. Loved that we didn't have to wait for refills either. (To be fair our waitress was amazing about refilling our waters - it was always full thanks to her.) For our first course we both chose the southerner. The fried green tomatoes were very flavorless but the deviled eggs packed a punch. They were oddly sweet though. I feel like we could've ordered something better but it was all fine! Second course I got the seared salmon and it was exactly what I wanted and was delicious!!! Crispy on the outside and soft and perfect inside. Flavor was great. My husband got the skirt steak and the gnocchi. His steak was DELICIOUS and flavorful but the gnocchi just fell flat and felt like nothing more than a filler. My husband said I won the ordering that round! And for the final course they brought out a dessert tower. The cheesecake was wonderful, the banana walnut cake surprised me by being delicious, but the chocolate shooters were a let down with not a whole lot of flavor. Overall, our experience was great! We love trying new things and don't mind paying a "premium" to adventure out of our comfort zone. This experience was worth the gamble, in my opinion. This meal wasn't super cheap but in addition to your meal you get the atmosphere of the historic Peabody. Could they lower the price for the offerings? Probably could. Worst Brunch Ever, seriously! Nothing to do with price only skill of preparation of the food items. Shrimp & Grits should just be removed from the restaurant menu! Absolutely disgusting, no flavor and watery. Imagine a fully cooked bowl of grits and then someone added 3 cups of water to it, Gross! I thought I was on some hidden camera show when I tried to eat it with the fork they gave me. Also, the poached eggs came out hard boiled over the Crab Benedict so I did ask for a redo of the eggs. They brought me out two more "poached eggs" in a bowl of water and when I tried to put them over my meal they just busted in the bowl of water (undercooked). I feel like this wasn't even a new Chef in training but someone's cousin (who doesn't even cook at home) filling in for someone at the last minute. Sad read more

I went to brunch on a Saturday for a friend's birthday. The atmosphere is like a walk back in time (in a good way). I talked through the pristine lobby to get to the restaurant entrance. I enjoyed the self-playing piano on my way in. The duck theme was tasteful. I had the coffee and matcha tea (both delicious). The biscuits came with an assortment of spreads. For course one, I had the smoked salmon, which was good but would not be for those who do not like lightly cooked Salmon. For course 2, I had the salmon as well. It was well seasoned. I hardly had space for dessert! I chose the macaroons. They were good. The service was pretty good, considering we had a large party. It's a great place for an intimate affair. read more

The service was very good - our waiter was attentive and personable. We ordered a bottle of wine, a pepperoni pizza, and an Insalata Salad. Our bill was almost $150, including tip. The bottle of wine was under $60 and was pretty good. Everything was just "good" and not "great," hence, 4 and not 5 stars in my review. Though I am giving 4/5 stars, I am aware that we did not order any of the more expensive items on the menu. I'm sure the steak or other pricier entrees would have been amazing. Alas, we weren't super hungry and since we didn't have a fridge in our room, we didn't want to take anything expensive to go. The pizza had wonderful crust, but in general, wasn't anything special. I've had better pizza at Dominos, but I wasn't disappointed in this pizza, it's just not what I would have expected from a fancier restaurant. The salad was tasty, but again, wasn't anything special. The attire was one thing that kind of disappointed me and is part of why I am giving 4 stars instead of 5. Given the location, the hotel, and the classy atmosphere of the restaurant, I was surprised to see guests in very casual attire (t-shirts, leggings, flip-flops, shorts, etc). We arrived well-dressed. The waitstaff is dressed well, the tables are set well, the prices and most of the menu items suggest high class, and the general ambiance of the restaurant itself is classy and refined, however, given the free dress code for guests, it felt a bit like an overpriced Olive Garden. I would like to return and give this restaurant another try to see what else the menu has to offer! read more

This was our third time at this restaurant at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis. The first two times were amazing, but, unfortunately, third time is not always a charm. We had 7 pm reservations, but arrived early. We were accommodated with a table with no worries. Our server was friendly, but we didn't always have her, and our service was a little haphazard. We ordered the off menu appetizer of salmon atop truffled risotto. That's what we both heard. What we got was one smallish scallop atop about 1/2 cup of risotto. This turned out to be $22! Our entrees were okay, but not amazing for the prices. My wife's shrimp in her pasta dish were on the tough side. My entree of the halibut with red pepper polenta and roasted cauliflower was $38. The halibut was cooked well, but had too much seasoning, and the two small cauliflower pieces and smear of polenta were not too good. I had ordered the $12 asparagus as a side. The last time we were here there was enough asparagus to share. This time we got 5 or 6 poorly seasoned asparagus spears. In addition, they forgot to serve the asparagus when the entrees were served, and a different server looked confused about the issue. Also, the seating is weird now. The booths are seated close to the next booth, and the people next to you are too close in my opinion. We started with a grumpy older couple and ended up next to an overly chatty couple. Our last time here the seating was more appropriate. We did finish our meal, and it was okay, but not okay enough for a total bill of $154. Right now, Capriccio's is not up to par for my tastes . I hope they can do better in the future. I can't recommend them at this time. read more

My husband and I stayed at The Peabody Hotel while on a road trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I struggled to find a suitable restaurant in the downtown Memphis area for our anniversary dinner, so it came down to a choice of two. Despite the spotty reviews of Capriccio Grill, I thought that since it was located at The Peabody, it would most certainly be the better choice. Maybe because we have so many excellent upscale dining choices in Dallas, TX our expectations are tainted, but this still can't excuse the lackluster experience we had at Capriccio. Appetizer choices are not great. We got the bread with three butter choices, and it was good, but really a complimentary type of food at most upscale restaurants. My husband had the ribeye steak, which he said was just okay. I had the filet mignon, and it was cooked medium as I requested and adequately tasty, but not worth the price. We did not order any sides with our steaks because, once again, not great choices on the menu. The service was not attentive and the atmosphere of the restaurant overall did not lend to a restaurant I would enjoy for a special occasion. read more

we had a reservation at 6pm on valentines night. it was our first time dining at capriccio. 0/10. we checked in at 6pm on the dot and were told there would be a 30 minute wait for all the reservations. i'm not understanding why there is a wait for a reservation but I considered them busy because of vday. an hour passed and we were still not sat. we had to share our concerns with the manager for us to be sat. he was extremely rude. the hostess was wonderful and it was not her fault. we were finally sat by 7:15 and it took 20 minutes for our server to even greet us. she didn't even introduce herself she only said "yall ready". we decided to leave and our valentine's day dinner was not how we expected. I am a server at a fine dining restaurant so I am more understanding than most people. we will not be dining at capriccio again. read more

Fire the awful manager (South Asian guy) who was so rude to us during our dinner last Thanksgiving (November 27, 2025), renovate the space, and update their menu. We had reservations for 7 pm that evening. We got there on time only to be told that there is a 20-minute wait. No apologies from the asshole, just an offer for us to sit down and wait. No apologies towards us who were hotel guests. I asked him what is the point of making reservations when we had to wait (crucial because we have my mother-in-law who has dementia, hungry, and tired). Granted I was talking in an angry way (but I was so pissed with the utter unprofessionalism playing out) but the manager said "What do you want me to do? Ask customers to leave? I can cancel your reservation if you keep on talking to me like that." This place should stop marketing themselves as a luxury place: the space looks like Piccadilly Cafeteria, and Piccadilly has much better food and service. read more

My last visit was extra special with Tunjia which was the most outstanding server. She made us feel like celebrities and we hugged her before we left. I started with a fun whiskey mule and my partner had a so so Sangiovese wine - one of several of this variety on the wine list. Our shared caprese salad was a good start and it was followed by scampi on gluten free pasta and my simple burger. We finished with creme brulee and hazelnut cheesecake which was divine.
