Ordered to go for the first time and service was quick and friendly. I ordered the ribeye, broccoli and sweet potato casserole. The sides are in a separate container from the steak and pretty decent portions. I'm glad to see the casserole is back on the menu, hopefully to stay this time. Y'all, I don't know why I decided to order food to go on of the Busiest Days of the year...Mother's Day which is every day in my opinion (another post for another day). I ordered 2 Prime Rib (Med Well temp) dinners with baked potatoes along with broccoli and cream corn. The first go around the Prime Ribs were far from being med well; sent them back and they were WELL DONE temp. The potato was so hard and dry. They did not bother to split it open. I read and heard this place was very good. I had it bookmarked and was looking forward to a great experience. Unfortunately, that's not what we got. It wasnt all bad. The atmosphere was nice, and the service was great. The food was just ok..... Nothing blew me away! When I pay that much for a steak, I expect it to be poppin' with flavor. My steak was very bland and chewy. I ended up throwing away my leftovers. The best thing I got was the hot chicken biscuit appetizers. They were actually very good. I also got the house red wine. That was also good. I will try them again. Anyone can have an off night. I just won't get the steak next time. We didn't have an awful time. I was just was not impressed with their steaks. She checked on us frequently and brought us FREE cake. Went with my friend to celebrate our 60th birthdays. We had a wonderful time devouring our tasty food. We both enjoyed our lunches. Let's get into the review: The ambiance is just ok, a little too dark for my preference Melanie was our server. She wasn't a bad server; however, she hurried off extremely fast, so there's not much time to ask any questions, ask for anything that was needed. She sat everything down and walked off. I ordered the 14 oz ribeye (med well) w au gratin potatoes. The steak was extremely tender but lacked seasoning. Nothing a little salt and pepper couldn't fix Steak: 8/10 Potatoes: 10/10 The wife ordered the Cowboy ribeye (medium) with a loaded baked potato. She said that her steak lacked seasoning and was more medium rare in most areas Steak: 7.5/10 Baked potato: 9/10 We ordered a house salad w ranch to share. The salad itself had potential. The sweet ranch was the nail in the coffin 7/10 Rolls were brought out halfway through the meal...they were good. I haven't had that kind of roll since Fatz closed! Been here a few times. The food, for me, can be hit or miss. The ambiance is really nice. Great place for a date night. I tried a cheeseburger and fries on my last visit. The cheeseburger was really good, but the fries were not (shoestring fries can be tricky). I'm surprised they don't have steak fries. They were not hot and overcooked. Forgot to take a pic. Also, not sure what it is, but there is a very odd odor when you walk in the door that spreads across the front area. It almost smells like pet urine. Our server was really nice. read more

My mom had a gift card she wanted to use so off we went. Reservations for three. The table was ready when we got there and the attendant seating us did a lovely job of describing her favorite items and the different menus in front of us. Our server was fine, I am not from Memphis and it may be required but we were surprised when asked for ID (ages 54 to 80). The request "ID" just seemed crass, we thought he was kidding. Maybe,.. "I must ask for ID, due to restaurant policy." Or, a touch of explanation. It was a bit jarring to the mood and flow of the evening. Anyway...to what really matters - the food was excellent. Mom and I had the pecan Trout which was awesome, the broccoli was PERFECT with butter and the mashed potatoes were quite stiff and flavorful, (my dad was one who would make sure the potatoes didn't get too soupy so he would have approved.) My husband had a gorgeous pork chop that was cooked perfectly. The dining area was beautiful and well maintained. Our spot was a touch drafty with line of site to the revolving door but fine. We ordered five entrées, which we shared among ourselves. - The **steak sandwich** was priced at approximately $24 but appeared to be a small portion for the cost, with minimal meat. The steak was overcooked and dry, and there were very few onions and peppers included as toppings. - The **roast beef sandwich**, served on Texas toast, also lacked sufficient meat, and the saltiness was quite pronounced. - The **chicken tenders** came with six sizable pieces that were fairly tender, but unfortunately, they arrived somewhat cold--likely sitting too long in the window. The dipping sauce was average, sourced from a jar. - The **fish sandwich** was quite standard, about average in quality, with no standout features. - There was another entrée, possibly a duplicate of one of the above, which was similarly average. Service throughout the meal was mediocre. For dessert, we shared a large piece of carrot cake. It was fresh, flavorful, and the highlight of the meal. The portion size was generous, which was appreciated. Overall, the total bill was close to $200, which I found quite expensive given the portion sizes and quality of the food. The biscuits and cinnamon butter didn't stand a chance which is why we didn't get a picture. I don't like bread much, but I couldn't stop eating them. I had the ribeye and max n cheese initially, but I sent the Mac back for mashed. Wasn't a fan of the Mac. Babe had the pecan crusted trout with broccoli and mashed and he love it. Had to add a pinch of salt to the dish and sides, but that's just preference. Ended the night with a bday chocolate cake slice and a happy bday candle!!!! In all I'd come back. Had wanted a prime rib sandwich and was told they no longer have it on menu, the guy next to me ordered if from a different waiter and he said it's not on menu but will be glad to get it for you. We ended up getting the replacement item which was absolutely awful. Meat was burnt and put on 2 pieces of toasted bread (not good at all). We are new to the Memphis area. Coming from a place that has endless options is a big adjustment for us. It was my husband's birthday and I wanted somewhere new to us that had awesome food! I found Stoney River on my search and thought he would love this! It's got steak and that's one dish we hardly eat on a daily. When we first got there he was impressed on what I chose. It was us two and our two boys, 15 and 8. One thing that was a bummer was there is nothing really for kids. Luckily I'm not a big eater so my little one shared with me. We first had the steak rolls for apps and it was delish! Like a Philly cheesesteak in a roll. I had the prime rib which was perfectly cooked, and my husband had the Rib eye which his was perfect also! My older son had the stacked burger which he demolished. The food was good, whiskey roasts are my favorite I really could've eaten that for my entree, fried shrimp which is not on the menu, but still available.
