Traveled across town to try something new to us and Stoney River did NOT disappoint. Our waiter Christian was Excellent! He gave great recommendations and kept the drinks full while always checking on us. The signature rolls are complimentary and were like little savory donut holes with honey butter. Almost like a dessert to start with. They had a nice crunch on the outside with a super soft center just like a donut hole. We started with the steak rolls that come served on a chimichurri sauce and are paired with a spicy ranch dressing this appetizer is nothing short of amazing! I highly recommend you start with these. It seemed like everyone in the restaurant was getting these. I had the 7 ounce filet with Christian's recommended Au Poivre sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor without the sauce, but the sauce definitely put it over the top. It is quite peppery which I loved, but I could see that it might be too much for some. I opted for the sweet potato casserole as my side dish and it was perfectly sweet with a nice brown sugar pecan topping that gave it a nice crunch. My husband had the ribeye as it comes with the Gouda Mac and cheese. He said the steak was a little too lean for him and he would have preferred more marble. He loved the Mac and cheese though and would definitely get it as his side again. Overall it was a great experience and I will definitely be back. It is on the pricier side, so we can't come every weekend, but I definitely loved it and will add it to the special occasion rotation. read more

1. FOOD -First time there went last night My hubby and I took a friend for bday dinner, we are from Houston Tx and this was part of our trip. We all had bone in ribeye cowboy cut. The steaks we good well made however I had to make adjustments. for all as ! My friend was given my steak and I was given my hubbys. Problem was mine had onions hubby has an onion allergy and can't eat onions. It was total confusion at table between us and we all kept steak we were presented as only one did not have onion. I didn't send back because we waited a long time for steaks, which is highly unusual. 2. SERVICE- Our waiter was and I don't remember name but was Hispanic with light blonde colored hair. So waiter came to table seemed annoyed, like they gave him an extra table or something. Waiter showed no smile only introduced self and very business like wanted order. Never offered drink refills or bread hubby had to ask. Lobster bisque was good but cold not warm but cold. Gave most to my friend just seemed too much trouble everything took so long . This again I find strange we are very familiar w steak house and go like 2x per month to try different ones they never never take that long! 3. Ambiance- Meh! We were seated facing kitchen rushed to table I didn't have time to ask if something else was available as we were walked to table hostess just left. Place is basic steakhouse wine bottle display which would have been better view than kitchen anyway all in all a 3 and that's for steak and potato, prob won't go back. When we are in Memphis next it will be a different one also minimum tip for Mr personality. He's young he'll learn read more

Oh Stoney, my fair Stoney. You were my favorite, but my favorite no more. This was my second visit where I ordered a ribeye steak medium and was brought a NY strip. I knew it was incorrect by the shape, also it was very hard to cut and even chew. That's a NY strip all day and night and I never choose NY strip for that reason. I spoke to the manager and showed him my struggle and he put in for a new ribeye. The second ribeye was the correct way and easier to cut and chew. The manger even stated he could now tell the difference between the two steaks. I am not in the business of sending food back but I was so unhappy with that NY strip especially being that it was my second time pointed the error out. I am not sure how the steaks are laid out, but I would hope whoever is over the steaks would know a ribeye from a strip. I even pointed out the strip of fat in the strip steak. Ambience is still nice, but with everything time will change things. My chocolate birthday cake was delicious, carrot cake always a favorite and the cream corn brûlée was really good! I'm not sure it will be a third visit for a ribeye unless I order the bone in, but I will continue to stop in for carrot cake. It was an early birthday celebration for me and I do appreciate the manger coming to correct the situation without being rude or telling me that it was a ribeye. He fixed the issue without any back and forth and for that I am very thankful. Our waiter was nice, but I think he got busy and. forgot to put in the creamed spinach and the creamed corn brûlée because it came out later. read more

Stoney River continues to be one of our favorite places, and this visit reminded us why. We enjoyed the new seasonal salmon croquettes, and they were absolutely delicious--crispy on the outside, flavorful on the inside, and paired perfectly with the sauce. The Parmesan fries are always a must-order and never disappoint. The cocktails were equally impressive. The Sidecar was smooth and refreshing, and the Pomegranate Martini was perfectly balanced. Our waitress was outstanding! She was friendly, attentive, and did an excellent job recommending the seasonal specialties. Her recommendations were spot on and made our experience even better. We chose to sit on the patio, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. It made for a relaxing evening with great food and an even better atmosphere. The warm bread with butter is always a favorite, and the carrot cake with toasted pecans and rich caramel sauce... it comes to play every single time--no games! Moist, flavorful, and easily one of the best desserts around. Excellent food, exceptional service, beautiful patio dining, and a consistently outstanding experience. We'll definitely be back! read more

I was in need of restaurant for a work function and Stoney River came highly recommended. First of all, the vibe was great. The decor, dark and moody with accents of gold sprinkled throughout was the perfect backdrop for our dinner. The food was great. While I had the steak frites, the other dinners also enjoyed the prime rib and filets. My biggest callout was the Parmesan truffle fries didn't pack much truffle flavor. Be warned they should be called Parmesan fries. They should be better. I'll give them another try the next time I'm in the area to see if it was a fluke or if they improve the fries. read more

Pre-birthday dinner for my daughter, and it was our first time dining here. I honestly have no complaints about anything! The food was exceptionally delicious from start to finish. The bread literally melted in our mouths. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her hanger steak with au gratin potatoes, and my lamb chops were cooked to perfection--tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I could only eat two, so of course I took the rest home to enjoy later! And let me not forget those steak egg rolls--they were hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Every dish exceeded our expectations. The price of the bill was well worth it. I love when I can go out for a nice dinner and everything goes right with no complaints. We can't wait to dine here again. Definitely a 10/10 from us! read more

I read and heard this place was very good. I had it bookmarked and was looking forward to a great experience. Unfortunately, that's not what we got. It wasnt all bad. The atmosphere was nice, and the service was great. The food was just ok..... Nothing blew me away! When I pay that much for a steak, I expect it to be poppin' with flavor. My steak was very bland and chewy. I ended up throwing away my leftovers. The best thing I got was the hot chicken biscuit appetizers. They were actually very good. I also got the house red wine. That was also good. I will try them again. Anyone can have an off night. I just won't get the steak next time. We didn't have an awful time. I was just was not impressed with their steaks. They look great on the plate, but looks can be deceiving. read more

From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and upscale without feeling stuffy--dim lighting, cozy booths, and a relaxed yet refined vibe that made it perfect for a nice evening out. Service was excellent--our server was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made sure everything came out just right. I started with the strawberry lemon drop, which was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The deviled eggs and steak egg rolls were flavorful and made great appetizers to share. My Caesar salad was fresh and well-dressed, and the lamb chops were cooked perfectly--tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth, a perfect side to round out the meal. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a solid steakhouse experience with great drinks, quality food, and top-tier service. I'll be back! read more

Love this place for its consistency and coziness. The ambience is quite nice and clean. Reminds me of an upscale dining experience. Service was great. Our server was attentive, cordial and friendly. She checked on us frequently and brought us FREE cake. Went with my friend to celebrate our 60th birthdays. We had a wonderful time devouring our tasty food. We both enjoyed our lunches. Started off with the spinach dip and rolls with butter. Then we ordered the Asian chicken salads. Top notch freshness and portions. The peanut salad dressing with a light vinaigrette enhanced the dish. Was going to have the carrot cake for dessert but were surprised with the pieces of chocolate cake. Our meal was very delicious! I am sure we will return to dine here again. Our celebration was so much fun. read more

I ordered take out from this place. 1st time trying it. I was not wowed. The deviled eggs were just ok to me. They are not bad, however nothing I have to have again. My pasta was dry. Staff was average. No major pain there. They Meet you from the rolling doors. Most of the time chatting which I get they are bored. Not super professional. Hard to find. Almost like, oh you're here, can I help you? Well yes, can I please sit at the bar I'm meeting an employee. Sure seat yourself. Cool fine with that. So we sit down to meet an employee at bar....discussing matters. Lordy me the best thing on apptz was their steak egg roll and here again a chef produces a very greasy crap. Fire up the fryer HIGH! So it's not greasy please. Everyone knows this. Oh jeez. Ordered sushi apptz too the stacked tuna. Let's get a bit more creative other than making into a round silver sleeve. No taste so I ask can I have some wasabi or soy sauce. No can't we don't have that stuff. Ok. Lord. So I'm thinking you guys think this is over the top sushi and doesn't require it. Hello it's tasteless. I'm not sure you think I'm a bad reviewer ok. Maybe my expectations are higher than most. I don't think so. I just wish chefs would pay attention in the kitchen. Put some TLC and not just serve like minor diner can do. Get onto them!!! Greasy and so un- appetizing. I want you to stay here in saddle creek but step it up again or you will definitely lose worthy clientele. I don't understand your bar? I understand it's Memphis. Yes, we all do. Just have measures a dress code etc. I understand it's hard. The kitchen has to be top notch or at least not greasy and put some flavor into it. U guys need to try your food on an average day. I spat it out. I beg you to do better. I will say, that afternoon we didn't have a full "coffee steak" but I have. Ehh some love it but I think people have gotten used to bad stuff. Not for me. Seasoning and a great chef is what you need. Heart in the food not some fast food with no taste. I truly hope you can make it. Let's sit down and secretly try it together. read more

We had lunch at Stoney River today for my birthday. Ashlyn was our server and she was Miss Johnny on the spot with everything. She had our drinks coming the whole meal without us asking. She was also very polite & respectful. I had the grilled salmon and a lobster bisque. I have to say this is the only Lobster Bisque I've ever had with actual chunks of Lobster...it was very good ....any other place just gives lobster flavored bisque. My fiancé had the ribeye. We both enjoyed our meal and would highly recommend this restaurant. Oh ...and Ashlyn brought me a slice of birthday cake which was thoughtful read more

Y'all, I don't know why I decided to order food to go on of the Busiest Days of the year...Mother's Day which is every day in my opinion (another post for another day). I ordered 2 Prime Rib (Med Well temp) dinners with baked potatoes along with broccoli and cream corn. The first go around the Prime Ribs were far from being med well; sent them back and they were WELL DONE temp. The potato was so hard and dry. They did not bother to split it open. The corn was very husky.... I've always said that the food ordered to go is prepared totally DIFFERENT from dining in. This was an awful experience/decision. Never again....Stoney.... read more

Visiting Memphis for a concert and tried this steakhouse. We had 7:30 reservations and were seated by 7:40. It appeared to be Prom night. Let's get into the review: The ambiance is just ok, a little too dark for my preference Melanie was our server. She wasn't a bad server; however, she hurried off extremely fast, so there's not much time to ask any questions, ask for anything that was needed. She sat everything down and walked off. I ordered the 14 oz ribeye (med well) w au gratin potatoes. The steak was extremely tender but lacked seasoning. Nothing a little salt and pepper couldn't fix Steak: 8/10 Potatoes: 10/10 The wife ordered the Cowboy ribeye (medium) with a loaded baked potato. She said that her steak lacked seasoning and was more medium rare in most areas Steak: 7.5/10 Baked potato: 9/10 We ordered a house salad w ranch to share. The salad itself had potential. The sweet ranch was the nail in the coffin 7/10 Rolls were brought out halfway through the meal...they were good. I haven't had that kind of roll since Fatz closed! Lemon drop martini: 10/10 Lemon drop mojito: 7.5/10 ( excessive mint leaves) The manager on duty was the most professional and helpful person that I came in contact with. He saw I didn't know where I was going and pointed me in the direction of the ladies' room. Kudos to him for "reading the room". Overall, in my opinion, this establishment is a step above Longhorn. read more

Been here a few times. The food, for me, can be hit or miss. The ambiance is really nice. Great place for a date night. I tried a cheeseburger and fries on my last visit. The cheeseburger was really good, but the fries were not (shoestring fries can be tricky). I'm surprised they don't have steak fries. They were not hot and overcooked. Forgot to take a pic. Also, not sure what it is, but there is a very odd odor when you walk in the door that spreads across the front area. It almost smells like pet urine. Our server was really nice. read more

Can not recommend enough!! Ribeye Steak 6/10 for anyone else 5/10 for me (I asked for Med Well and got and Suuuperr well done steak) Coffee Cured Steak 2/10 First bite amazing. After that downhill. My mom had a gift card she wanted to use so off we went. Reservations for three. The table was ready when we got there and the attendant seating us did a lovely job of describing her favorite items and the different menus in front of us. Our server was fine, I am not from Memphis and it may be required but we were surprised when asked for ID (ages 54 to 80). The request "ID" just seemed crass, we thought he was kidding. Maybe,.. "I must ask for ID, due to restaurant policy." Or, a touch of explanation. It was a bit jarring to the mood and flow of the evening. Anyway...to what really matters - the food was excellent. Mom and I had the pecan Trout which was awesome, the broccoli was PERFECT with butter and the mashed potatoes were quite stiff and flavorful, (my dad was one who would make sure the potatoes didn't get too soupy so he would have approved.) My husband had a gorgeous pork chop that was cooked perfectly. The dining area was beautiful and well maintained. Our spot was a touch drafty with line of site to the revolving door but fine. We have a Stoney River in the Detroit area and will seek it out! read more

The ambiance was great. It was a nice romantic spot for my double date with friends. The service was also great. Our waitress was accommodating, which was very helpful because the issue was the food. The food isn't worth the price: We started with spinach artichoke dip and the chips were way too salty. The dip was passable but not great. I got a prime rib medium well with Au jus. It was flavorless even tho they said it's aged cured. It had a massive fat cap, which is inedible and more for decoration. The "whipped" garlic potatoes felt more like a gratin with way too much butter that it was greasy. My bf got the steak and biscuits and they were this thin breading that was dry. Steak in it was hardly acceptable. Service was great, manager came by if things were okay, but this was before our food was delivered. $110 check for food that's only a bit better than Longhorn. Won't be coming back, I had a massive stomachache after it. Also the bathroom was so gross and the front desk smelled of urine. How does that even happen. Also the complementary cinnamon butter was way too sweet. As if I was having dessert for a starter. I'm a home cook and very sick and needed a steak. This isn't the place to get one. The staff was great but hardly cared about us towards the end when I really want to leave. read more

Lunch at Stoney River, Germantown, TN My family and I recently dined at Stoney River in Germantown, Tennessee. We ordered five entrées, which we shared among ourselves. - The **steak sandwich** was priced at approximately $24 but appeared to be a small portion for the cost, with minimal meat. The steak was overcooked and dry, and there were very few onions and peppers included as toppings. - The **roast beef sandwich**, served on Texas toast, also lacked sufficient meat, and the saltiness was quite pronounced. - The **chicken tenders** came with six sizable pieces that were fairly tender, but unfortunately, they arrived somewhat cold--likely sitting too long in the window. The dipping sauce was average, sourced from a jar. - The **fish sandwich** was quite standard, about average in quality, with no standout features. - There was another entrée, possibly a duplicate of one of the above, which was similarly average. Service throughout the meal was mediocre. For dessert, we shared a large piece of carrot cake. It was fresh, flavorful, and the highlight of the meal. The portion size was generous, which was appreciated. Overall, the total bill was close to $200, which I found quite expensive given the portion sizes and quality of the food. I expected a better value for the price paid. read more
