Rafferty's has been a Memphis staple for a number of years. The service was always great, food always delicious and it was just an enjoyable spot to dine. My last couple of visits have been "ok", nothing close to the days of old. Tonight, the restaurant was very busy, almost seemed like an airport - servers coming, going and sometimes seemingly running in questionable circles. The positive, people are dining out and they have chosen your establishment for fulfillment. The negative, if you spend too much time going back and forth to make your food or experience right, it diminishes the experience. We ordered the backyard BBQ burgers, one with fries and one with broccoli. We specifically requested "BBQ sauce on the side", otherwise they slather it in the sauce. In all honesty, the sauce isn't great, but we get it on the side in the event we choose to slightly indulge. Both burgers arrived with the BBQ heavily applied. After waiting and waiting and waiting, the server came back to check in. I wasn't sure if she immediately picked up on the BBQ sauce drenching the burgers or the looks on our faces. Either way, she grabbed the food and went to correct the issue - or so we thought. The server returned minutes later with fresh burgers. Alert...they were the exact same burgers as before. When making the server aware, she assured that the kitchen made the burgers fresh. Alert...remnants of the original BBQ sauce were still present on the burgers. At this point, we ate one of the burgers and barely touched the other. The energy to engage no longer existed. The server graciously :) took one of the burgers off as a gesture of her apology. I left the server with a bit of advice for the kitchen. When a patron requests an item fixed a certain way or missing a certain ingredient or condiment and you agree to comply, there should be no shortcut. This is my 4th time eating here. The food has always been good. Today I ordered the Filet. It was average in my opinion. I've had better but I will be back here. It's the first thing I've had that I wasn't a fan of. The real issue here is the lack of hospitality with the hostess stand. All 4 times I've been here they have kids that look they are still in school, which is not an issue. The issue is it appears there has been no training given to them. Never once have they ever welcomed me. They never smile. They walk you to the table, put your menu on the table and walk away. There seems to be no training and leadership for them. Today I observed a male hostess wearing AirPods. I saw waiters wearing AirPods. I'm not sure how that is allowed. Seems to be lack of accountability and leadership. This has been a place I've been wanting to try whenever I'm in the Memphis area. They were packed for the holidays. We had about a 30 minute wait for a table of two. We were sat and our server came right away. We got the honey croissants with the nuts on the side for an appetizer, people also enjoy them as a dessert because they are so sweet but honestly they are ao flaky and delicious. I could not get enough and I woukd come back just for these. I also ordered the bbq cheeseburger because in theory the description sounded good but I wasn't the biggest fan of it. I probably would prefer a regular burger there instead. Overall good service clean place would return. read more

First of all, I want to say that I am not someone who normally writes negative reviews. In fact, in my 36 years, I have never written one, until my experience at Rafferty's last night. The food was amazing, as usual. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled by our server was very disappointing. About five minutes after we had paid for our food, security approached our table. The security guard explained that our server had an emergency and could not leave until we were gone, so we needed to leave. My friend did not hear exactly what he said, so I explained it to her. She jokingly responded that they would have to put us in handcuffs to make us leave. She also explained that our server could have simply come to our table and told us what was going on instead of sending security over. Needless to say, we left. What bothered me most was that the situation could have been handled so differently. Our server could have simply come to the table and said, "I'm sorry, but I have an emergency and need to leave. I have to close this section, but I can move you to another area so you can continue enjoying your evening." Had she done that, we probably would have said, "No worries, we're finished anyway. We hope everything is okay," and left shortly afterward with a completely different impression. Instead, we were approached by security and told to leave. It felt unnecessary, uncomfortable, and disrespectful, especially when a simple conversation could have prevented the entire situation. I finally got my Rafferty's fix! I had a taste for their infamous hot fingers and honey butter croissants and they did not disappoint. I used their pickup services and it was pretty quick and easy. I walked in and my food was ready at the time that they gave me. I also had sides including a loaded baked potato and broccoli. They were good as well. While visiting a friend in this area, we decided to visit this restaurant since it was nearby. The food was okay. I had the blackened salmon with mashed potatoes and coleslaw . My husband had the same thing and we both thought it was okay food. The coleslaw was not that great. It had no zing. The cherry tea was really, really good. Our waitress was very friendly and always on top of it. She even gave us to-go teas as we were leaving without us asking. Went to Rafferty's with the fam to celebrate our babies graduating from kindergarten and 5th grade and honestly we had a really good time. Two of the kids got the chicken tenders kids meals and my other baby got the cheeseburger plate, and they cleaned they plates lol. I got the cowboy sirloin medium well with a loaded baked potato and broccoli, and even tho my steak was a lil overcooked it was still juicy and not dry at all. It has been a long time since I last been to Rafferty's. So my friend and I decided to visit the restaurant on November 16, 2024. When we got to the restaurant the parking lot was almost full. There were a lot of people inside so we had to wait about 30 minutes before we got seated at a table. Our waiter quickly took our drink and food order. The restaurant for the most part was really clean, and I can see why a lot of people come here. It didn't take long for our food to get to the table. I ordered the Backyard BBQ Burger with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. My friend had the Chicken Alfredo. My burger was cooked how I wanted, the bacon was really good, and the BBQ sauce was okay. The smoked cheddar cheese was a little bit disappointed. I expected to get that smoky taste from the cheese, and I didn't get that at all. The Garlic Mashed Potatoes were okay. Visited on a Friday night and the wait times was about 20 minutes. The restaurant itself is kind of loud with the bar atmosphere and all the TVs. The server was very friendly and kept our drinks topped off. I had the butterflied filet with six shooter Cajun butter and it was GREAT! The steak wasn't the most tender I've ever had, but it was definitely not tough and the Cajun butter made it amazing. Would definitely order again! My husband had the bluegrass chicken sandwich which he gets every time we come because he loves it so much. So, every time I come to Memphis, Rafferty's is a must have. It sounds silly to come to Memphis to get a salad, but their salads are fresh and amazing, and they have the best house dressing. It's a honey mustard with a hit bacon dressing, out those together and there's a party in your mouth!!! They also serve their salads with their famous croissants. There were 3 of us and we all had the same salad, it's that good. The portion is huge and it's a struggle to eat the entire salad. We also had the friend mushrooms which are delicious. We went on a Sunday after church and waited about an hr and half for a table for 5. Obviously, its after church which gets real hectic. But overall the food was astounding. We all loved it and we cant wait to go back and try it again. The ribs were perfectly seasoned. The mashed potatoes were buttery and soft. The pasta was just SEASONED.
