Came here a few times. The place looks huge inside and has a bar area. The service was friendly and helpful. The food is not that bad. I really liked the Cajun crawfish pasta. Had some good flavor and a slight amount of heat. The short rib was a little tough to eat and overcooked. Still was good. The Caesar salad I would pass on. All the croutons were stale. The beef Wellington was overcooked. It was well done. Still had some good flavor. The lemon caper chicken was also really good. Nice profile of flavors.

I've been here a handful of times. Most of them have been quite lovely. Out of the times I have dined here, almost all have been with people from work. I do believe C and I have only been here once as a couple. It did not go well at all, so we have not been back together, as she is holding a bit of a grudge. It's a long story but it all ties back to service. That night we had the worst table in the building and service was spotty at best. Food was still pretty good, just whole ass annoyed by the entirety of the rest of the experience. I am lucky enough to be able to be taken to/host dinner with clients and manufacturers a good bit. They like places like this so I get by ever so often. Gotta love expensed meals!!! Tehehe I like the open kitchen concept they have and the bar is really cool. The metal shelves at the bar that store the booze are bad ass. It's warm and cozy and has a great vibe overall. The last time we sat on the enclosed patio. I had not sat out there before. I think the larger tables all go out there. We had seven and there was another group of about twenty in the same room with us. Food ranges from fairly good to fucking great. I've never had anything bad here, but a few sighs have been had, mostly by misunderstood expectations of what I was getting I would say. So, quite possibly I am the problem. As with most of my problems, actually... The oysters Rockefeller are very different from the norm. Fried oysters on a side of spinach. That's what it seems like. I ate it up, don't get me wrong. I did just switch to only fried oysters after the first one. No need wasting stomach space on spinach. Charbroiled oysters is always a good move and the preparation remains traditional on that one. I do find the oysters to be quite massive and hard to chew the whole thing at once. Cutting them just seems silly though. Steaks are prepared very well and to your liking each time. I have never had a bad one. Good flavor too. I am going to spring on the Hawaiian Ribeye the next time I go on my dime. It's a classic that I remember from Steak and Ale as well as Houston's. Both now gone from Memphis. I like the she crab soup an awful lot, and just about every entree I have had here is killer. You really cannot go wrong with the food. Just order something you normally like and boom. I will also say this. The short ribs I had last time were some of the best I have ever had. Bravo on that! Additionally, I had two giant pieces for like $40! I could only eat one of them after all of the appetizers. Oh.... Yea. They have a hot lobster roll that is good! You don't see that in Memphis very often!! Get you some. Wait.... Lamb Lollipops. They have evolved some of the years but they have really good lamb chops. They used to be the exact same dish as their sister concepts of Itta Bena, BB Kings, and Lafayette's. I am not sure if the whole family still has the old version or not. Here it has changed a good bit. As I write this, I crave it.... Ugh. Damn your foods and your seductive prowess food skills! Lastly, Tommy Peters did great things for this city's food scene. I am sad that he is gone but I know he was proud of this one! Ok. That's enough, Adam.... No one reads this crap anyway. '26 - 48

Another visit for our local bookclub. As always I enjoy this location. This time we opted for brunch items. Our server Tucker was absolutely amazing. It was chilly outside and I loved sitting by the fireplace until the our party fully arrived. We were seated on the enclosed patio area and enjoyed the open space. Cocktail: blueberry lemon drop was 10/10 Appetizer: spinach dip is always a must Entree: chicken and waffles. Moondance opted to take a savory spin on this popular brunch dish. I opted for the chicken marsala on the side. Not my favorite menu item so I likely will not try it again. Paired it with breakfast potatoes. The French toast is massive and makes a great shared option.

I have had a wonderful experience each time I have gone to Moondance. The staff is kind and helpful. They make celebrations special and even a regular date night great. The food is always well prepared and comes out fresh. Drinks are tasty and the bartender presents them well. I would highly recommend! The vibe of this bar is moody and cozy. Perfect for a date night.

Went to Moondance Grill tonight and babyyyy the food did not disappoint I got the 16oz ribeye with the sweet potato casserole and loaded garlic potatoes and everything was seasoned so good. The steak was cooked just right and super tender, like you could cut it easy with barely trying lol. I also tried the Raspberry Revive and it was sooo refreshing with my meal. The vibe in there is really nice and cozy but still classy at the same time. One thing that really stood out to me was the bathrooms, the asthetics in there were honestly sooo cute . You can tell they really paid attention to the details all around the restaurant. Def coming back again because this place was worth every dollar.

We went to Moondance last night for dinner since it was our last night in Memphis for our anniversary trip. We were not disappointed. From the moment we stepped in we had a good feeling. We were immediately greeted by our server, Johnathan. He provided recommendations and allowed us to look over the menu while he grabbed us waters. We sat by the fireplace which was really nice and romantic. The food was delicious. I had the lobster bisque while my husband had the spinach dip. For entrees, I had the airline chicken which came with two pieces of chicken, some veggies, and the most delicious mashed potatoes I've had in a while. My husband had the lobster roll (Connecticut style) and shoestring fries. They gave him TWO lobster rolls. We couldn't even finish it all.

Had brunch here on Saturday at 1 PM with a reservation. The weather was beautiful, so it felt like the perfect day to come out and enjoy their brunch menu. Our waiter, Joshua, provided excellent service throughout the entire meal. He was attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better. We started with the spinach dip as an appetizer. It wasn't my favorite--it had more of a spinach-forward taste than the cheesy flavor I usually prefer in spinach dip. It wasn't bad at all, just not quite my personal style. I ended up tasting a few dishes from around the table. The salmon was great, and the French toast was delicious. I was also surprised that the lobster roll came with two! Honestly, one would have been filling enough. After the appetizer, I could barely finish half of one. For drinks, I started with the passion fruit mimosa, which was really good, and followed it up with a French 75--also excellent. Overall, it was a really nice brunch experience, and I'll definitely be back to try more items from the menu.

I've been to Moondance a few times, and this was probably one of my worst experiences there. On previous visits, I've had the lamb chops and braised short ribs. This time, I wanted to try something different. I've heard good things about the maple bourbon glaze salmon, so I decided to try it. I also ordered the Rockefeller oysters, bread service, she-crab soup, and lamb chops. The soup was one of my first dishes, but it was lukewarm when served. The maple bourbon glaze was very sweet, and the salmon tasted like water with the char on the sides being overly charged and sometimes giving a burnt flavor. It felt too sweet paired with the sweet potato casserole, but the green beans served with the casserole were enjoyable. The lamb chops were not great; they were supposed to be cooked medium but were still very chewy and lacked enough seasoning. Lamb is usually pretty good, so I was disappointed. The oysters were good; I really enjoyed those. Our server was not good. He kept trying to sell us more items, but the service was terrible. He asked my partner if he wanted another drink but never refilled our waters. He also brought the dessert menu and was ready with our check before we even had the chance to refuse dessert. It was a wild experience, and I'm not used to service like that or food like that at Moondance.

I met an old friend for a late lunch at Moondance Grill during the week. I ordered the Prime Rib Sliders (sliced ribeye, brioche, horseradish, swiss) and my lunch date ordered the Chicken Lettuce Wraps. I enjoyed these. There were three sliders and it was the perfect amount for lunch for me. I would have liked a little more horseradish but I like it spicy. Good space, big booths, and attentive service. I'd easily return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner in its sun room with a neutral natural palette that I once indulged myself at the Rose Tavern in Canandaigua in Upstate New York. That nostalgic feeling of being in a beautiful tavern is pure delight. Absolutely beautiful restaurant, truly deserves limelight recognition in Germantown. Our darling Annalise server was extremely friendly. We loved the presentation of our dinner, but the octopus was a bit soft for our taste. I've had plenty of octopus in other cities and understand the dish is typically more expensive, but a small single mediocre tentacle is quite pricey for $28. I personally prefer a crispy and firmer chew for octopus. The scallops and shishito peppers were a delightful pairing. Valet parking shouldn't be forced upon the customer though? I felt bad that I don't carry cash to tip the valet, and valet is mandatory unless you want to park on the side streets and walk over. Do carry any cash! I wish that a portion of the parking lot was open for self parking though as those boys don't need to help out every guest who don't need valet and subjecting them to wait around for the boys to grab cars that we're perfectly capable of doing ourselves.

I had a fantastic espresso martini and the best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted! So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

I was at the bar with my husband and my parents, and I'd had one and a half drinks over the course of the evening, nowhere near intoxicated. We were talking and laughing at a normal volume. At one point the tables around us were so loud I asked the bartender to speak up because I couldn't hear her explaining one of the drink specials. She was gracious about it, moved closer, and said, "I'm sorry, it's ladies night." If anything, that showed how loud the room already was before I said a word. Even my parents, who are the first to tell me if I'm being too loud or out of line, agreed afterward that I hadn't acted out in any way. The owner, Donna Watford, came over and told me to quiet down. I should mention, this isn't unfamiliar territory for me. I've worked in Michelin starred restaurants and I know what's expected of a guest and what isn't. What struck me was the tone and framing of how I was singled out. I wasn't being disruptive or unruly. It felt distinctly like I was being policed for being visibly and audibly gay rather than for actually being too loud. Other tables around us were just as animated and weren't approached. When I told Donna she shouldn't speak to a customer that way, she said, "I can because it's my restaurant." That response told me everything I needed to know. This isn't a business that sees hospitality as a two way street, or values the people paying to be there. I'd think twice before going back, and I'd want other guests, especially LGBTQ+ folks and anyone visiting with family, to know what kind of experience to expect here.

I ordered the shrimp tossed in chili teriyaki sauce, as listed on the menu. The shrimp were fried extremely hard and arrived cold. Instead of being properly tossed in sauce, there was only a minimal drizzle on a few pieces, which made the dish feel incomplete and not as described. The catfish nuggets and fries were just okay--again, both arrived cold, which seems to be a consistent issue with food temperature. The bar experience was also disappointing. The green tea shots were not made correctly, and the "double" shot of Jack Daniels was poured more like a single. In addition, the menu did not include any drink options or pricing. While the waiter mentioned they have a full bar, having a drink menu (even a basic one) would make ordering much easier and more enjoyable, especially for guests looking to try something new. Service-wise, the waiter was clearly overwhelmed and not very available, but when she did come to the table, she was very kind and pleasant. No complaints about her attitude--just a staffing or management issue. Overall, there's definitely potential here, but improvements are needed in food temperature, menu accuracy, and bar consistency to elevate the experience.
