I visited Local Lime yesterday around 7pm as it's one of my favorite spots when shopping in Germantown. The food is always amazing, drinks are good (even the basic margarita). I chose to sit at the bar since I was by myself. There were 4 others seated there and maybe two high tops in the bar area filled. Wow what an experience. Literally 3 people behind the bar and no one speaks, offers you a menu, nothing. 5 mins after just staring at me, I'd finally wiped down my own area with beverage napkins, found a menu nearby and just sat there waiting. There were almost as many employees as there were patrons in that area and yet, not one greeting or assistance. 45 mins later, when another patron sat 2 seats away from me-same experience but now 5 people standing behind the bar. I ended up sharing my menus with her since she was also ignored. Customer service is super important in any business. I had planned on an actual entree but because of that experience, I simply settled for a chips and queso and grabbed dinner elsewhere afterwards. Will I visit again? Probably as I love the atmosphere, food and drinks. But I will never sit in the bar area again as clearly the ones working last evening didn't care to be there. read more

Some friends and I went to Local Lime for dinner on a Saturday night. Since they don't take reservations, we were told the wait would be about 25 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 55 minutes. Once we were seated, we ordered drinks and appetizers and asked for waters for the table. After some time, our server returned to let us know they were out of queso dip, but didn't offer an alternative. When she came back after initially forgetting our drinks, I placed an order for different appetizers instead. The food arrived before we ever received water, despite asking multiple times. I ordered the queso flameado, which was good, along with the chorizo tacos. I also had the passion fruit margarita, which was tasty, though the portion was small for the price. The atmosphere was loud and very busy, it definitely seems like a popular new hangout spot. Overall, the experience was just okay. I'm not sure I'd go back. read more

I heard and read a lot of good things about this place so I finally had time to stop in and see what all of the fuss was about. The restaurant is cute and it has a really good vibe especially for cocktails with friends or after work. I just walked in with no reservation and was helped and seated by friendly staff. Stopped in for dinner while in town, one of the few places still open as things around here seem to close early. The interior is genuinely well done, one of the nicer spaces I've eaten in recently. Service was fair to good, though I did have one issue. I was talked out of ordering the Dixon Chicken Enchiladas and steered toward the Spinach Artichoke Enchiladas, which the server spoke highly of. It wasn't until the bill arrived that I noticed a $6 surcharge for adding chicken. $6 isn't the end of the world, but it would have been nice to know that upfront rather than after the fact. Also worth noting, $5.50 for salsa felt a bit steep. Where I come from, salsa comes with the meal, even the fancy mango salsa. We had the combo fajitas, which were just fair-to-good. The chicken was mild in flavor and the ribeye was the leanest I've ever seen. Neither had much of a char on them, and the texture and flavor leaned more toward baked than grilled. I doubt it was baked, but it certainly didn't feel like it hit a searing hot cooktop. For $30 I'd expect better. The ambiance is the real strength here. If the food and service transparency can catch up to it, this place has a lot of potential. read more

We went here as a group. Local Lime is here in Germantown, located amongst the shops at Saddle Creek. The restaurant's name is written on the building and the interior is clean, bright and inviting. Our server was friendly and helpful with the menu. They have something to fit every palate and dietary need. For appetizers, we had the salsa flight appetizer, where you choose three to try along with the skillet queso. There's one salsa made with zucchini, and it was light and interesting. For entrees, there was the shrimp and brie quesadilla, fajitas, fish tacos, and curry shrimp tacos with cilantro rice and black beans. Everything was fresh and tasty. I came here on a Saturday night with a big group of we had a reservation so we were seated quickly. The chips and queso are absolutely delicious and the salsa flight are nice to try out a couple of different ones. I got the fresh bowl with shrimp and it was pretty good. I selected Local Lime for my birthday dinner which fell on a Saturday night. I was able to get a reservation at 6:00 although I really didn't need it because it was only half full. It had been a year since I was last there. When we started our order two of the items were already sold out, Mango salsa and Black beans. This could only be due to poor planning in the kitchen. We were disappointed but found alternatives. The service and ambiance were 5 star. The only other issue was that we arrived at 6:00 and it was 55 minutes before our food came out. I do not believe this was our server's fault as she kept going back to check on it. The bar area is of good size and very popular. They only have 3 beers on tap but no Mexican beers such as Modelo or Dos XXs. I ended up ordering the stout from Wiseacre and was very happy with it. read more

It's been a while since I visited Local Lime, and I have to say, I love this spot! I chose to sit at the bar, and as usual, I immediately knew I would order the Fresco bowl with ribeye and the street corn--my absolute favorite. In fact, as I write this review, I'm craving it all over again! I also had a piña colada, which is strong but delicious. I tend to drink it quickly before it melts, as it changes flavor a bit when it does, but it's still my go-to every time I visit. I can't remember the bartender's name, but he was fantastic--very attentive and made my experience even better. Went to lunch Tuesday at Local Lime with friends. We arrived at 11 and we're seated very quickly. The service was pretty good. We had one waitress and then changed up a few minutes after and had another waitress. She was excellent and attentive. She checked on us from time to time and very nice. i think her name was Laketha. The decor of the restaurant has some southwest hints with bright colors. It is modern looking and reminds me of an upscale cantina. We started off with the Salsa Flight. That is always tasty and has a variety of flavors. The queso was creamy and hot. It was a good consistency for dipping and not breaking the chips. My tuna tacos were very good with a lot of vegetables and blue corn taco shells. My sides of cilantro lime rice and drunken pinto beans added greatly to my dish. Local Lime is the perfect refuge for Mexican fare located in the middle of an upscale shopping plaza with Madewell, Anthropologie, Victora Secret, and Free People. This block is a heaven for a shopping and lunch date with your girls. Local Lime is absolutely gorgeous, busy ambiance and delicious latin food to boot! The best thing is you are not locked into buying their set tacos, but order them a la carte! I personally love their Crispy Ahi Tuna, Chargrilled Ribeye, Pacifico Fried Fish, and Local Carnitas tacos. The Crispy Ahi Tuna is the only taco that comes in a crunch purple corn tortilla shell while the others are a soft flour tortilla. A must-visit when in Germantown! The inside of this restaurant was absolutely adorable! It had modern costal vibes and felt very cozy. We started our dinner with a salsa flight ($6 for 3 salsas). My favorite was the zucchini-based salsa. It was very different but incredibly flavorful. The chips were really good too- you can tell they are made in-house. I ordered the Local Fresco Bowl and added chicken. I asked for a side of the crema dressing which only made the bowl all the more tasty! My boyfriend ordered the carnitas tacos which comes with your choice of two sides. The tacos were definitely the best bang for your buck, but the bowl was my favorite of the two dishes. PS The Chilean Pisco Sour uses Peruvian pisco, don't let em fool ya. Had a salsa flight to start. Tomatillo, Regular and Tres Chiles. Kind of a let down, nothing remarkable. Really not a fan of the Tres Chiles. Chips were solid though. Drunken Pinto Beans: amazing flavor. I'd eat a bowl of these. My favorite thing we had. Ahi Tuna taco: very refreshing. Citrusy, cucumber was actually welcomed. Shell broke so had to eat like a tostada -10pts. I can see why they're popular though. Pacific Fish: good. Fish had no flavor though. But I haven't had a fish taco as good here in Memphis. So good points there Carnitas: super juicy and delicious. Not real carnitas though. Just braised pork. But the flavor was all there. All in all a solid place. Honestly, 3-stars is price. It's very expensive. This is probably the norm now, but hard to justify the prices regularly. First up-- the general ambiance of this place is a winner! I felt at ease here, welcomed, and it honestly felt homey! It didn't feel stuffy or uptight and there was a great mix of quieter tables and tables who were louder and laughing and having fun. Our server was fantastic! She was friendly and attentive and we didn't have to wait long for her to ever come check on us. Fantastic service! Onto our food: the salsa flight was ENOUGH to fill me up. No joke. The chips were perfection and the three salsas we got were bangers, too. We tried the mango, tomatillo, and the delicious zucchini. Good lord! All three were so different and so wonderful. I don't know which I enjoyed most to be honest with you because I loved all three. My husband and I ordered one of each of the nine tacos and split them and I left achingly full! (And happy!) I tried them, ranked them, and will give you the scoop so you'll know what to do when you come here. Here's my ranking: 9. Veggie. This one was disappointing because I love non-meat dishes! But the majority of the taco was corn and the corn tortilla instantly fell apart. It just wasn't great. 8. Chorizo. It was just not it for me. It was 95% meat and nearly no toppings plus the chorizo was sooo greasy. 7. Curry fried shrimp. The curry crema was not great for me. This taco would've slapped for me if curry wasn't the main flavor component. Just didn't taste great at all. 6. Ahi tuna. I thought the crispy taco shell was an odd choice and the flavors weren't bad together but I wouldn't get it again. 5. Fried fish. This one wasn't awful but it definitely had a strong smell. It tasted great but the cream tasted a bit too similar to tartar sauce for me. Fish was sooo well cooked though and the fish itself tasted excellent! 4. Carnitas. I love some pulled pork! #memphisbaby and this was a good one! The cotija and the picked onion were fantastic and the pork was flavorful and delicious. 3. Grilled chicken. Standard faire but so well executed! All the flavors played together so nicely. Would definitely get this one again! 2. Chargrilled rib-eye! Dear. Lord. The tender cut of the meat plus the chargrilled flavor?!? This was soo close to my favorite! I didn't personally love the fajita veggie pairing but damn this was good. 1. Fried Chicken! This one was both of our favorites and I could've easily eaten three of these. Everything about this one was fantastic but the toppings made it!!! My top five I'd order again and recommend, for sure! It was my 1st experience, and I enjoyed everything about the establishment. When I pulled up, I liked the bright neon sign, it stands out. The inside was really cute, bright, vibrant and exciting. One thing that i truly cannot stand is when you, as the guest, approach the host, and they look at you like what you doing here. Instead of greeting me and asking me how many for my party! It's the most annoying thing! Any way- we put our names on the waiting list and gave our cells where a text is sent showing you your place in line via the Yelp app. As we're waiting my husband goes to the bathroom and sees that there are plenty tables available so i couldn't understand the reason for the wait. Yelp showed that there were 2 other parties ahead of us, 1 which was a group of about 10. We were seated about 2PM. A waitress came by - her name was Lash. She said that Ashley would be our waitress but she was outside-maybe on break. Lash took our drink orders and appetizer orders then we didn't see her again. We ordered the guac and queso and two non alcoholic drinks. It took about 10 mins for apps to come out and the queso was not hot. Guac, I'd give it a 5/10-just not all that. We then ordered quesadillas, one chicken and one Barria. They both had more cheese than meat! Our total ended up being $65-with no alcoholic beverages seems a bit pricey! Nothing about the food or restaurant itself stood out to me. Our waitress Ashley was forgetful. We constantly had to ask for things more than once. My silverware was not clean and the cloth it came in had crust stains on it so they aren't cleaning those! All the hype the place has amounts to nothing. The location is the reason for it all. My wife and I recently enjoyed a finely crafted meal (our first here) during an early afternoon, on a workday. We were therefore able to be seated immediately, with absolutely zero wait. Our server, Steven, provided personable service and excellent menu guidance. Our meal pace was leisurely, just as we wanted. I highly recommend going with the salsa flight option. We chose three different flavors, and each one was amazingly fresh tasting. I was surprised at how well I liked the balanced flavors of the mango salsa! Our entrees were delicious as well, and made with obviously fresh ingredients. I completely devoured the spinach and artichoke enchiladas, with a side of sautéed onions. Since the restaurant wasn't packed to the gills, the noise levels weren't excessive at all. One quibble is that the men's restroom wasn't fully stocked with toilet paper. I had to switch stalls in order locate some t.p. By the time we left the restaurant at about 4:45 pm, there were over half a dozen people queued-up at the hostess station, waiting to be seated. As for the taco plate, it was good, but I would recommend skipping the grilled chicken (my reason for four stars) --it was too dry for my taste! I also wasn't a fan of the flour tortilla, so if I return, I'll stick with corn. Surprisingly, the fish taco was delicious! The beans and rice complemented the tacos nicely. I ordered a lavender margarita based on our waiter's suggestion, and it was good. But I also tasted the Pina Colada, which they make in-house, and it was AMAZING--opt for that instead! It made it hard to go back to my original choice. We arrived about 45 minutes after the restaurant opened, and it wasn't busy then. However, it was packed by the time we left, so it's clearly a popular spot. They don't accept reservations; they only have an online waitlist, so plan your visit accordingly. You can't beat the ambiance and attentiveness of the wait staff and hostess desk. This was my second visit, and I have multiple reasons for returning. I have to admit. I was extremely skeptical of even going here once. When my wonderful wife mentioned it, I had to disguise my disdain as curiosity and wonderment. A couple times I figured her a little young for the need of cholinesterase inhibitors, but I guess they must have kicked in after we placed our order because she got better as the night progressed. Started with the salsa trio. Avocado. Reggae Tomato. Tres Chiles. Loved all three of them! Especially the hot one! It has a bang to it man! Chips are great! I dig it! We had no idea they were going to catch our cheese dip on fire so that was a surprise. She fumbled long enough to make us all uncomfortable doing it, lol. Taste was fair, chorizo was sparse, and it tasted pretty boozy. I think it was tequila on it. Didn't love it. Tortilla soup had great flavor but the giant chunks of chicken took away from the soup. They were cut in 1.5" cubes and could have been half the quantity of what was in there. Waste of money and hurts quality. We ate less than half of it. Ribeye Nachos were ok. Great menu idea for sure. Chips things held up ok under all that glob. Drunk Beans threw me way off. Tasted like ugh... that's the best I got. I also hate Crema, so there is that. It was on there pretty thick. No avoiding it... We only ate one nacho each, and then I scraped the stuff off the steak pieces and ate the steak plain. It was tasty. Not sure if I am into boozy food now that I've been here.
