This is one of the cutest spots I've been to in a while. I felt like I was out of town. I must say it started off rocky because they switched our waiter after we had already ordered drinks. Our second server wasn't as nice but she finally warmed up. The food was great. The drunken beans were off the chain. The only reason I am giving them four stars is because our server was a little off. My friend asked for a regular size cheese dip. She told him they only have small or large. Printed in the menu is small or regular. She was very snappy. Then when it was time to pay she said, I know yall going to leave me a big tip. Yall look like yall leave good tips. She went on to explain she had got put out of her place and needed money. It was a lot to listen to. Granted we left her thirty dollars but I the whole exchange was weird and I didn't like it. Two of us in our party and we arrived after the normal dinner rush. Server was very knowledgeable and pleasant and the restaurant a little noisy while only half full. I have to admit. I was extremely skeptical of even going here once. When my wonderful wife mentioned it, I had to disguise my disdain as curiosity and wonderment. I must say it was better than expected. Arrived and found a table easily to accommodate my handicapped ass needs. Very happy, friendly, and obliging front staff for sure! Server was sweet as she could be. A couple times I figured her a little young for the need of cholinesterase inhibitors, but I guess they must have kicked in after we placed our order because she got better as the night progressed. Started with the salsa trio. Avocado. Reggae Tomato. Tres Chiles. Loved all three of them! Especially the hot one! It has a bang to it man! Chips are great! I dig it! We had no idea they were going to catch our cheese dip on fire so that was a surprise. She fumbled long enough to make us all uncomfortable doing it, lol. Taste was fair, chorizo was sparse, and it tasted pretty boozy. I think it was tequila on it. Didn't love it. Tortilla soup had great flavor but the giant chunks of chicken took away from the soup. They were cut in 1.5" cubes and could have been half the quantity of what was in there. Waste of money and hurts quality. We ate less than half of it. Ribeye Nachos were ok. Great menu idea for sure. Chips things held up ok under all that glob. Drunk Beans threw me way off. Tasted like ugh... that's the best I got. I also hate Crema, so there is that. It was on there pretty thick. No avoiding it... We only ate one nacho each, and then I scraped the stuff off the steak pieces and ate the steak plain. It was tasty. Not sure if I am into boozy food now that I've been here. Great addition to Germantown!! But be aware-the wait time is extremely long on the weekends (when we went we checked in on Yelp and still waited an additional 45 minutes. And it is pricey. Don't expect free chips and salsa. Okay now with that out the way, we truly enjoyed our experience. It was loud. Very loud. I could barely hear our amazing hostess. Fortunately my husband and I sat next to each other instead of across so we were still able to talk. We had the margarita. Best one I've had in my life! Seriously. Major props on that. So the quesadilla: a bit underwhelming, truly. I don't know if they forgot to pack the consume or if it is 'in' the meat, but I didn't get to dip anything in anything. Cheesy, meat was smoky, decently (and appropriately) greasy. And it paled in comparison to the brisket quesadilla El Mero Taco offers. By quite a bit, actually. Price point, taste, authenticity, all points won by El Mero. Except for presentation. And that's the big point with Local Lime to me: (and not to harp) Local Lime is about image, presentation, appearances. Places like El Mero are about the food, the substance, the essence of a meal. If you're looking to see and be seen, by all means, go to Local Lime. If you're looking to experience flavor as the primary concern, go elsewhere first. read more

Went with friends late Sunday afternoon. The seating ws a bit slow but OK. The interior looks nice and is clean. the food and drinks however are on the mediocre side. The margarita's especially were kind of small and were not that flavorful. It seemed to be a watered down mixture. The chips and salsa were extra, a lot extra. We had the Queso flamado with Chorizo to share. About double what you would normally pay in a Mexican restaurant. The chips were OK. We also ordered a starter of guacamole. It came with four tiny flour tortillas. When we ordered our mains, one of us asked for a slight modification to the dish. Our server told us that no changes could be made because all the dishes were PREMADE. That was a bit of a shocker. You are expecting freshly made food, only to find out it might just be microwaved. The grand total for two people was probably about 30-40% more than what you would expect, even if it is Germantown. Being in Germantown is not a good excuse. Been there done that. Poor experience overall. A Mexican restaurant experience is a lot of food and not very expensive. The ambience is vibrant, colorful and usually noisy. This one checks the last box. The other two, well, the decor is tasteful, not tacky. Clean looking and nice colors. Let's start with entering the restaurant- lots of people waiting and the hostesses took a while to turn to us even when there was no one in front. Twenty minute wait although lots of empty tables like another review has mentioned. Maybe they have a staffing problem. We got seated and asked for water--heavily chlorinated and terrible to taste. Can't understand this because Germantown water isn't that bad considering they're giving us tap water anyway. Chips arrived without any salsa! Not your average Mexican restaurant experience. We had to wait until we saw the waitress to ask for salsa. Turned out you had to order that separately. She could have told us that. The salsa arrived as a flight of three different flavors, all quite bland and tasteless. We ordered fajitas. This comes with a very small side of salad and a tiny portion of guacamole. No rice. That has to be ordered separately and came in tiny thimble fulls. The salad was good, guacamole so-so. Fajitas were okay but mostly onions and peppers and tomatoes, very little meat. Very small portions, especially considering the price. The tortillas were tiny, like maybe two and a half inches in diameter, and cold. The overall feeling was they were serving rare gems and of course you can't expect a lot of them. Since we went as a family, we were determined to have a good time but it was a struggle. I wonder if it has anything to do with the high taxes in Germantown because the one before Uncle Goyo's was similarly disappointing (maybe worse)and closed soon after. This place is absolutely darling inside and out, the service to match which was fast and d friendly. Though, I tend to be a bit skeptical about spruced-up Mexican restaurants, so here is my honest review. We ordered the Paloma, which was an unexpected take on the ones I have previously had; tasted more like a seltzer. To start, we had the Salsa Trio. The chips were quite thick but good. The first, the 'Chipotle,' be WARNED - was served warm, which was unexpected and reminiscent of marinara. Next was the mango salsa; although the mangoes were a bit overripe, it was decent though lacked spice. Finally, the 'house salsa' was okay, needing more spice, cilantro, salt, or something. While all the ingredients were very fresh, the overall flavors were quite mild. For our main entree, we split the bowl between two people; overall, it was good. The beans were absolutely fantastic, with a wonderful flavor featuring a bit of spice and cilantro. The rice, however, was quite bland, though it had a hint of lime; it could have benefited from more cilantro or something extra. The pickled onions are also noteworthy! Finally, the shrimp had great flavor and were well-cooked, despite their small size. To accompany your bowl, two dressings were served, both mild in flavor. The first, the vinaigrette was not notable; quite oily, hint of citrus. The jalapeño ranch was fantastic as far as good ranch goes, but I did not taste any hint of heat from the jalapeño. I feel like a chipotle ranch would have been more fitting. Finally, the street corn! The crème was so fresh and delicious, while it did lack the spice from cayenne pepper. To wrap it up, this restaurant uses fresh ingredients, and it does not go unnoticed. While they didn't compromise on freshness, I felt they did with overall flavor. Everything needed a boost of spice to truly celebrate the flavors of Mexican food especially the wonderful peppers it offers. Food was really great for a tex-mex type restaurant. We had no real complaints, service was slow but they were pretty slammed packed. Daughter and I sat on the patio and Heather was our server. Prices are higher compared to other establishments with similar menu items. The pulled pork tacos were awesome and the meat was flavored really well, (greasy) but still had wonderful flavor. This was the first time visiting Local Lime. From Yelp reviews we knew it was going to be a 45 minute to an hour wait but that was ok because we had a late lunch and wasn't very hungry. The reason I'm giving it a 4 and not a 5 is because the place was outrageously loud. I don't usually mind loud restaurants but this was crazy to the point that it was painful. You definitely couldn't have a conversation without shouting. It wasn't due to loud music; it was just that all the surfaces were hard and nothing to absorb the sound. We asked for a table on the patio because we wouldn't have been able to stand it. After we were seated everything was great. Our waiter Robby was fantastic. The margaritas were amazing. First time I had Mezcal and we loved it. The food was very good. Obviously not authentic Mexican food but still really good. I have multiple issues to address: 1. We came here for the ahi tuna and were told that they ran out of ahi tuna. This was on a Friday evening at 6p, prime time to anticipate more people and have extra on hand. We were also informed by the waitress this happens everyday and they still don't anticipate or do anything about this. This is completely unacceptable 2 . Only time they have happy hour is mon - wed. I have never come across such idiotic happy hour times. Every place I have been to has it every weekday. Completely absurd to have it only mon - wed 3. In the bathroom there is only one paper towel dispenser and of course it was out. They have no extra dispensers like all normal bathrooms do 4. The primo margarita was not tasty at all. I thought it would be similar to a Cadillac margarita -top shelf w Grand Marnier. But it was definitely not comparable 5. The fact that they charge for salsa is pretty ridiculous as well 6. It's located by a most talked about cookie place and clothing stores on Farmington in the Saddle Creek shopping center with plenty of parking. I liked the mango salsa the most, the rest were just ok. The reviews you read about the chipotle tasting like tomato sauce is true and the tres chiles salsa was very mid. Both the chipotle and the tres chiles salsas had a small kick, but wasn't my favorite. The cheese dip was good, I thought it was a small so I ordered another to go, until I received the bill and saw I was charged for a large which was $9.50. Price wise, I think the small was a dollar or so less, so it wasn't a big deal. Service to take our drink order was slow, but our food arrived pretty quickly. The Local Fresca Bowl with chicken was very filling and the ingredients included chicken, rice, black beans, guacamole, grilled corn, etc. you get wayyy more food in the bowl than that chain place ppl rave about! The bathroom had a weird smell like it needed to be cleaned and needed some fresh air circulating, there was hair in the sink and well it basically needed to be looked after. We sat inside and still had to fight with flies and gnats, that was no fun! Would I return, maybe, but I won't be suggesting this place to others. It is NOT worth the $60 spent and you have to try to talk over others to hear your guests. By the time we left there was a wait and people outside and inside waiting to be seated. We came in on a very busy Saturday lunch hour. They had 2 ladies at the front for to-go orders; which appeared to be priority over in house guests. We were turned off by not being greeted at all, after standing there for about 10 minutes. That was a turn off at first. The hostess was firstly after greeting us finally.
