After they were finally finished, we were seated and our waiter came right over and took orders. Also, we were seated outside, and the heater didn't work. I've eaten here a few times in the past couple of years, but for whatever reason, this time wasn't great. First, my steak was supposed to be medium rare and it was closer to medium. This is largely because it was under the heat too long. Only about 50% of the steak was pink and the rest was gray/overcooked. When it was placed on the table, it was very apparent that it had been under a heat lamp and it was not fresh. This might also be part of the reason that the doneness of the steak was off. The mac and cheese was below average...pretty dried out when it was served. Service was incredibly slow, despite a lot of staff on hand. This made things challenging with our two small kids. For example, when I asked for rolls, it took about 20 minutes for them to drop them off. They would also randomly fill up one empty glass of water at a time, but then walk off without filling up the others. Super weird. Also, just a heads up for anyone with small kids, they do not have high chairs or booster seats. read more

How cow! This is a high end, date-night restaurant bring your husband, boyfriend,, wife, maybe even your girlfriend to this wonderful place. It has BBQ dishes but is much much more than that. First, the staff are highly professional, doting and there are tons of them. The waiter, the room Maitre d' and many others speckled around the restaurant. They care! The music was barely discernible and might have been the bar Tv din reaching out table. The chatter was a little loud so that I had to talk loudly to be heard and place a cupped hand to my ear to hear. :-( Maybe the owner should consider heavy drapes or sound deadening wall and ceiling coverings. The fried pimento cheese sandwich was stupendous! It was fried to a perfect crispy crust, the cheese was melted to a velvety smooth dollop and served on a very shallow pond of toothsome sauce. The fried chicken was a show stopper, eating it was a drop-the-mike moment and truly one of the best I've ever had...by far. Perfect crust and seasoned and cooked just right, plus moist and very flavorful chicken. The tater tots were not so crisp, not much honey and the jalapeño specs were concentrated onto a few of the tots rather than applied to all or most. Suggestion to chef--brush on a light coat of honey then place in a bag with finely minced jalapeño and lightly shake. Just trust me. Try it. The decor was gorgeous, old Southern charm with dark, hard woods, chandeliers, and tufted booths. We had a reservation and they honored, about 10 minutes past time which was ok with us. We had a very friendly server who made great recommendations to us. I went with the Sea Bass with yukon whipped potatoes and a chopped salad (Romaine, Iceberg, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Black-eyed Peas, Bell Pepper, Celery, Grape Tomato Feta Cheese, and Green Peppercorn Buttermilk Dressing) to start. I also tried the Socialite cocktail which contained 1792 Small Batch Bourbon, Peach Liqueur Honey, Mint, and Lime. Really well mixed cocktail and the peach was a nice touch. I also tried The Memphian (because, duh) which had Huling Station Bourbon, Domaine Canton, Luxardo Cherry, Lemon, and Bitters. It wasn't as refreshing as the Socialite but was well made and was smooth. Everything was very good but I took off one star because the sea bass was lacking a bit in flavor and didn't seem as tender as I've had it in other establishments. Approaching the building you get cute, cozy and quaint vibes. They offer valet parking so score there. You can also self park. They have two outdoor patios, a very nice bar area and then regular seating. Reservations highly recommended especially on the weekends. Hannah was AMAZING! She was attentive, kind, knowledgeable and patient. Now on to the food. Now this was a hit or miss with each guest. I had the redfish and crab entree that came with asparagus and grits. I'm not a grit person with fish but if that's your preference you should enjoy it. Two guests have steaks and they enjoyed them. Not the best but cooked to perfection and juicy. Another guest had the shrimp and grits and absolutely loved it. The fried chicken was massive but lacked seasoning. But to be a breast it was juicy. The greens were vinegary (if that's a word) so not everyone enjoyed that. They were decent to me. The Mac and cheese was over baked so a tad bit dry. But the loaded mashed were out of sight. Perfection. The rolls were a hit and one of my guests had 4!! And as an appetizer we had the deviled eggs with the fried oysters and we asked them to separate the two. Each had a decent taste but again lacked seasoning. Would I return? YES! And guess what, not the food but for the service. It's not many places now that provide that exceptional level of care. Oh and how can I forget the best part of my meal (which I didn't get a picture of) was......the creme brûlée. OMG. The best I've had so far. It's a #1 tie between another local establishment. The moment you arrive, you're treated wonderfully by valet service and enthusiastically at the hostess stand. The hostesses are always one of our favorite parts of our visits! Ambiance is elegant; typical to what you'd expect at a fine dining restaurant, but nothing that "wows" you. I do enjoy the more modern "southern" music playlist though; it's unusual for a fine dining restaurant but adds a great vibe. Service at the tables is a bit slow; I've been told this is intentional so as to not make patrons feel rushed, but it can be far too slow at times with wait staff not checking in for some time. Drinks from the bar are *chef's kiss* perfection, even tricky ones, and the martini and beer glasses are chilled, which is a lovely touch. Their drink menu is expansive, and we enjoy the wine flights they offer. The food is good, though not great. Again, nothing "wows" us. It's good. Just good. At this price point, I'd love to be wowed. The menu isn't as expansive as I'd like and they miss the mark by being a "southern" restaurant but not offering fried green tomatoes (I get it, what sells stays!). At a lower price point, this would be five stars, but I've been several times and have yet to walk away feeling more than mediocre, which lends its way to the three star rating. read more
