My favorite part of my experience were the drinks and interaction with the bartenders. I really enjoyed the champagne that was used for their mimosas. I also tried their signature cocktail: Lucid Dreams. It definitely made me dreamy. I could taste the lavender flavor which was a nice balance to the drink in not making it overly sweet. I ordered the blackened catfish for my entree. I was not wow'ed by it. However it wasn't bad. I'd like to visit again and try a different entree. I added the Brussel sprouts to my dinner order. I liked that they were pan seared and were not very charred. A lot of restaurants serve them charred to the point of being burnt. I have never preferred them that way. Had a great time at lunch today with my retired teacher friends. Gathering together to celebrate the holidays is special and such great fellowship. We started off with three different appetizers. We ordered the General Tso's cauliflower, chili cheese dip with pita chips, and the egg rolls. Each one of them were delicious. Filled with so a lot of goodness. Totally forgot to snap pics. I ordered the Buddha Bowl that had many vegetables with fried tofu. Needed more tofu but was still very tasty. Others had the shawarma bowl and pizza. The food looked so good. Roxanne was our server and she was AWESOME! Shoutout to her and the amount of patience she had with us. Everyone was very nice. I made the reservation a month or so ago and the gal that helped me was so nice. The place is very clean and inviting. I love the modern look and the Holiday decorations. There are many tables outside and inside. There is a full bar with places to dine there too. I enjoy coming to this restaurant as it is consistent and has great service with friendly people. Ventured here for a late lunch and I'm so happy I did! The interior here is a tad eclectic and has an open kitchen concept. Once seated, we were given popcorn to snack on. I honestly prefer this over bread or chips, as it allowed me to not fill up too much before our entrees. I ordered the Enchilada Chicken Bowl and it was absolutely delicious. It was a perfect portion and full of flavor! My boyfriend ordered the Zaka Bowl and added chicken. This bowl had more of an Asian flare. All the flavors and ingredients in the Zaka bowl complemented each other perfectly. Our server was the sweetest! Everything felt clean, the food was super tasty, and the menu is quite well-rounded. Best turkey burger I've had in Memphis. Whew!!! I came in and sat at the bar so that I could order a cocktail while I waited for my food. The bartender was friendly and professional, making casual conversation while I waited. He recommended the Blue Suede which is basically a Moscow mule. I asked about a martini, but he didn't have one to recommend. I ordered the turkey burger, no bacon, and fries to go. They had several tv's showing multiple sports games and plenty of Christmas decor. My food was ready in about 15 minutes and I made it home in about 20 minutes. After I took a bite, I was in heaven! The burger was seasoned so well and the dijon mustard just took it over the top. The brioche bun was chef's kiss! The french fries got nice and crispy after I put them in the air fryer. Visited for lunch and Roxanne was our waitress. Roxanne was very attentive, professional, and checked on us when needed. Wasn't a crowd so service was quick. My mom and I ordered the SOB burger with fries. First thing my mom said " this looks like a patty made by hand." The burger and fries came out hot and fresh. The burger was very good, seasoned well and cooked to our liking. The fries were good too, piping hot and a good substitute since they no longer have the hand cut fries. Amazing food, service & ambiance!! This was a last minute Sunday Dutch Treat gathering and they were able to accommodate us-yes, we were gratefully in awe!! I was unfamiliar with the history of the location and of the restaurant itself, but decided to take a plunge & everything was perfect! She was well knowledgeable in regard to the menu-aided in narrowing down those who could not choose between two plates and was just generally a friendly person whose smile put us at ease! We were working on a kind of stressful project and the atmosphere was just perfect. The semi-private meeting dining area could accommodate 20 or perhaps more, but we expected 14. The area was nicely decorated. They obliged by turning the music down and off we went!! The waitress was not flustered by single tabs and was very helpful. She and the servers & the chef and his staff were very efficient and made the process seem magical! We ordered 13 different items on the menu with 2 to-go orders and every one complimented their choice! The crab claws were to die for!! I requested extra Italian toast as I wanted to enjoy every buttery claw! Their salads were fresh-salmon cooked perfectly. Catfish was a delicacy as well! My son's and I had a late lunch here. We walked from the Doubletree where we were staying for the night, so convenient, short, walk from this hotel. The waitress was attentive and helpful with recommendations. She brought a savory popcorn to the table but unfortunately, no one really cared for it. We shared two apps, the ahi tuna stack and the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. Both were really good. The egg rolls were hot and had nice steak flavor. The chips with the tuna stack were crispy and paired beautifully with the tuna and mango salsa. 4* Our mains: Fried Grouper sandwich with fries, solid sandwich and the fries were average - 3* Wild mushroom pasta, my oldest son said it was good - 4* Salmon with Brussels , my youngest son said the salmon was not overcooked and was ok but the brussel sprouts were too crunchy, like a quick saute instead of braise, in his words, almost raw - not what he was expecting- 2.5* Overall, I would say 3.5 on the food. Longtime fan of S.O.B. And I can't wait to gush about S.O.B. East! Firstly, they have the best hours. They're open from 11 AM to 9 PM Sundays through Thursdays and until 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Second things, their salmon dish is a piece of culinary art. Perfectly cooked, it's a melt-in-your-mouth experience that's seriously addicting. Then there's the carnitas bowl - soooooo good, you'll find yourself daydreaming about it long after it's in your belly. The general tso's cauliflower is off the hook. It's like the best sweet and sour "chicken" without any chicken at all! The texture and flavors are spot on. The chicken fried pork chop was MEH. Kinda of disappointing. The pork chop was super dry, lack flavor. As well as the Mac n cheese. Although I kinda like the collard greens. Probably will not get the next time. The collard greens were pretty interesting. It had kimchi fused in. The jerk short ribs were better, but also meh. It is tender, but wasn't my fav. The rice underneath seem too mushy. Again, prob won't get next time. Bread pudding was a tab bit too sweet for my liking. It was still kind of cold inside. My over experience was good, service wise. I've been here 3 or 4 times, and the original location once, and have never been disappointed. This visits was a late lunch on the Saturday before Christmas (Dec 23) and there were only a couple of other tables seated. As you'd expect we were brought right in to a nice large booth with no wait at all after a friendly greeting from the hostess. They have recently started doing brunch at this location and I ordered off of the brunch menu, I got a Loco Moco - which is a Hawaiian fave. It was very good and had great texture with the crispy onions. Also ordered by us was a cheeseburger, chicken shawarma bowl, and catfish. I taxed everyone's plates and can say without a doubt, all were very good!! Menu was well versed, however the execution could've been better. I got the Philly egg rolls which were wonderful, along with their house popcorn which was delicious. Unfortunately the decline started when they brought out the chili cheese dip. The dip was flavorful but cold, the cheese on top wasn't melted at all nor did it melt. For my entree I got the burger with fries...BIG MISTAKE!!! They burnt my burger, and the fries were not as seen in the picture. Will I be back probably not. We had out of town guests and wanted to take them to a local restaurant. We had reservations for 6:30 on Wednesday. The person seating us showed us to a table that was 1/2 booth seating, 1/2 chairs. We asked if we could be seated where there were 4 chairs, as there were only 3 other tables occupied in the dining room. His attitude was evident immediately and came through when telling a co worker that they would have to wait on us. Another waiter came over and placed a bowl of popcorn on the table and stood there - not saying anything. Not hello, no introduction. I asked what the popcorn was and he explained the toppings and that he hasn't eaten popcorn since he had braces, about 15 years, but he will eat this popcorn occasionally. More standing. My husband asked if he were going to be the one to take our order, which he replied yes. We put in our drink order, and he returned to the table with waters and took our meal order. Quite a while later, someone else brought the 2 different beers that was ordered over to the table. He held up the 2 glasses to determine which beer was which. He then brought the one glass to his nose to smell the difference! As soon as he walked away from the table, our food was delivered. That was the last time anyone was at our table until after the meal when I got up and helped myself to the water pitcher on the counter to refill our water glasses! At most, there were 5 other tables occupied in the restaurant while we were dining, and at least 3 wait staff visible. When the original waiter come over to the table I let him now we felt ignored. He said we weren't so I pointed out that no one came to check on us once the food was brought out( which my husband's flatbread was cold!), there was never an offer for a refill on the beer, and I had to get water for the table!! Will not make the mistake again of thinking SOB East would be a good place to go to dinner!! read more

Nice restaurant in the East Memphis area of Memphis. Restaurant has a pleasant vibe with an open air kitchen which is pretty cool, but can get loud. Service was great! Our waiter gave several recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the menu. You are served complimentary seasoned popcorn which has a unique, but good flavor. We started with the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls which were my personal favorite. The dipping sauce was so good that I asked for an extra side of it to go on my burger. I ordered the SOB burger and had them add candied bacon. The candied bacon definitely took it over the top along with the sauce from the egg rolls. The fries were crispy and had a decent flavor, but aren't anything spectacular. My husband had the Hawaiian ribeye and while he didn't taste much Hawaiian, he said the steak did have a great Smokey flavor and he really liked the Gouda Mac and cheese. I was able to check out SOB East for lunch, which was an excellent choice. We had reservations for 11:30 which was shortly after they opened. There were plenty of empty tables when we arrived, so we could have easily just walked in and got seated right away. The restaurant was cute, bright and open. We were seated away from the door in an area that could be flipped into a semi-private area for a group. Our server came over right away and was very friendly. She explained that the menu had recently changed, so the pictures from Yelp that I was going crazy over really didn't matter. :) For cocktail selection, I chose the "Lucid Dreams" drink which was a favorite and also the one cocktail that remained from the previous menu since it was a crowd favorite. It was great! We tried the General Tso Cauliflower as an appetizer...It was excellent! I loved the flavor and the texture as the cauliflower had a nice light crisp to it. I would seriously return just for that. I ordered the salmon and it was seasoned well and the texture was perfect. I didn't care for the potatoes and the small salad was okay. OK, so I ended up here on a whim because I started at Houston's which is a couple of blocks away, but I found their menu to be a little overpriced for the offerings. So I decided to head to SOB East after checking out their yelp reviews. I stopped in this location on what was clearly a really slow night because there were only two parties in the front and nobody at the bar. So I decided to sit at the bar and was pleasantly greeted by the bartender, who also quickly introduced me to the menu. I decided to try out the duck fried rice and the portion they bought to the table was so large I had to take the rest of it back to the hotel with me. But it was excellent, fried up perfectly with large pieces of duck and plenty of veggies. I was really wanting to try more of the menu, but just didn't have the time or appetite. If I lived in Memphis, I would definitely visit this location more. One note. This was the kick off of the NFL season and despite having a huge TV behind the bar, they didn't have it on because it supposedly stopped working earlier. Really a bummer giving such a big sporting event was on TV but I didn't go to the restaurant for sports, so I won't ding them for that. read more

I ordered the general Tao's cauliflower, a side of fries and the Zaka bowl with no egg with salmon on top. The cauliflower was okay--it had too much sauce and made me thirsty so I stopped eating it. The fries were good and well seasoned. The bowl was really good too. It had a lot of different flavors and I would eat it again. My friend ordered the soft shell crab and the grouper sandwich.
