    ZAKA BOWL (add chicken)
    Emily C.

Ventured here for a late lunch and I'm so happy I did! The interior here is a tad eclectic and has an open kitchen concept. Once seated, we were given popcorn to snack on. I honestly prefer this over bread or chips, as it allowed me to not fill up too much before our entrees. I ordered the Enchilada Chicken Bowl and it was absolutely delicious. It was a perfect portion and full of flavor! My boyfriend ordered the Zaka Bowl and added chicken. This bowl had more of an Asian flare. All the flavors and ingredients in the Zaka bowl complemented each other perfectly. Our server was the sweetest! Everything felt clean, the food was super tasty, and the menu is quite well-rounded. I'll be back here on my next trip to Memphis!

OMG! What took us so long?! We passed by several times and didn't stop until we saw Diners, Drive-ins, and dives. My son and I decided to stop and give it a whirl. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience was peaceful and ultra modern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a great waiter, Shaq who was eager to assist us. The general tso's cauliflower was mouth watering and I could've made a meal of that, alone. Everything after that was wonderful. Then the manager, Scottie brought us jack 'n coke bread pudding. She was as lovely as the dessert it was worth every penny. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

I've been here multiple times during my visits in Memphis and gotta love the menu variations, drink specials, fantastic service and attention to allergens in food for the patrons. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is very chic suitable for date nights or reserve the room for business dinners.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is easy and the menu changes often making you want to return often!

Salmon with woefully undercooked Brussels (in our opinion)
    Denise H.

My son's and I had a late lunch here. We walked from the Doubletree where we were staying for the night, so convenient, short, walk from this hotel. The waitress was attentive and helpful with recommendations. She brought a savory popcorn to the table but unfortunately, no one really cared for it. We shared two apps, the ahi tuna stack and the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. Both were really good. The egg rolls were hot and had nice steak flavor. The chips with the tuna stack were crispy and paired beautifully with the tuna and mango salsa. 4* Our mains: Fried Grouper sandwich with fries, solid sandwich and the fries were average - 3* Wild mushroom pasta, my oldest son said it was good - 4* Salmon with Brussels , my youngest son said the salmon was not overcooked and was ok but the brussel sprouts were too crunchy, like a quick saute instead of braise, in his words, almost raw - not what he was expecting- 2.5* Overall, I would say 3.5 on the food. The apps outshined the mains.

Longtime fan of S.O.B. And I can't wait to gush about S.O.B. East! Firstly, they have the best hours. They're open from 11 AM to 9 PM Sundays through Thursdays and until 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Second things, their salmon dish is a piece of culinary art. Perfectly cooked, it's a melt-in-your-mouth experience that's seriously addicting. Then there's the carnitas bowl - soooooo good, you'll find yourself daydreaming about it long after it's in your belly. The general tso's cauliflower is off the hook. It's like the best sweet and sour "chicken" without any chicken at all! The texture and flavors are spot on. As for the ambiance, it's trendy and super fun - the kind of place where you can enjoy a memorable meal with friends, have a work meeting and everyone will think you made a great choice. As for parking? That's the cherry on top! It's free and just steps from the door.

Service was great! Our server Julie was super attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The fried chicken bao bun was delicious! That def set the tone. We got this as our appetizer. The chicken fried pork chop was MEH. Kinda of disappointing. The pork chop was super dry, lack flavor. As well as the Mac n cheese. Although I kinda like the collard greens. Probably will not get the next time. The collard greens were pretty interesting. It had kimchi fused in. The jerk short ribs were better, but also meh. It is tender, but wasn't my fav. The rice underneath seem too mushy. Again, prob won't get next time. Bread pudding was a tab bit too sweet for my liking. It was still kind of cold inside. My over experience was good, service wise. Food? Idk yet. I do want to come back next time to try other things on the menu.

I've been here 3 or 4 times, and the original location once, and have never been disappointed. This visits was a late lunch on the Saturday before Christmas (Dec 23) and there were only a couple of other tables seated. As you'd expect we were brought right in to a nice large booth with no wait at all after a friendly greeting from the hostess. They have recently started doing brunch at this location and I ordered off of the brunch menu, I got a Loco Moco - which is a Hawaiian fave. It was very good and had great texture with the crispy onions. Also ordered by us was a cheeseburger, chicken shawarma bowl, and catfish. I taxed everyone's plates and can say without a doubt, all were very good!! Once again I've never ever been disappointed with anything at all (service, food, ambiance, cleanliness...) of any of the SOB locations.

Very Friendly staff especially Julie, our server. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have nice modern decor[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], turkey burger was fantastic. I normally get the SOB burger but the turkey burger is my new fav. If you want a great cocktail try the Lucid Dream, it's fantastic. The popcorn is fantastic snack til your food comes out also.

This was my first time going to this location. I must say that they food and service is pretty consistent. I love the casual ambiance as well. They were also able to accommodate our large party. I had my regular order. The blackened fish with okra and corn succotash with andouille sausage, spicy crawfish cream sauce. We had a great experience. I am glad that I had a chance to visit. Now I will stop through if I'm in the area.

    Popcorn, for starters.

I had a fantastic espresso martini and the best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted! So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

The Tiger Bleu Chips my friend ordered were a cool idea. I don't like buffalo sauce nor bleu cheese so I tried some chips and liked them but not the sauces. I loved the chicken on it though. I am not sure if it's the same chicken as the nachos but it didn't taste like it was. Honestly, it would be cool if they had options for the chips like maybe other sauces. Unfortunately, they messed up my husbands burger twice, which is not great. But the burger itself just tasted like nothing, which was worse. Hubby's tater tots were too salty. All cooked in an Italian stone deck oven 600° not quite the leopard spotting of neopolitans but it's pretty decent having just tried the Detroit Pepperoni and Deep Dish $22 and $28 Deep Dish Big Apple. Oven rendered crispy lil pepperoni cups and a decent crusty cheese edge on the Detroit, and a puffy pillow crust on the Deep Dish. Latter misses the buttery yellow cornmeal firmness of signature Chicago Deep Dishes though, and the puffy dough does get a little dry and more chewy less crisp as you get to the end of your slice and as time outta the oven ticks on.
