I'll be honest, I nearly didn't come here for the mixed reviews when they first opened a few months ago but I'm glad we stopped by for a late breakfast. We were greeted at the door and seated promptly. The restaurant has a bustling commotion and an upbeat vibe inside. I ordered coffee and a juice and my mother ordered a coke. We put in our food order right away with our friendly server, and it was a fairly short wait before we had food on the table. Mom had a ham melt with Gruyère and tomato, served with potatoes. I had a Barbacoa beef breakfast bowl with eggs, black beans, pico, tortilla chips, ranchero sauce, shredded beef, and a lime crema. I've been to this location once before and had a great experience with good food and attentive service. That's why today was so disappointing. We knew it would be busy, so we joined the waitlist. The quoted wait was 20 to 30 minutes, and we were seated right at 20 minutes. So far, so good. Then nothing happened. We sat for about 15 minutes without a single server acknowledging us, not even a quick "I'll be right with you." Meanwhile, surrounding tables were actively being served. I eventually notified the hostess that we hadn't been helped. We waited another five minutes. Still nothing. I then flagged down a server, who went to speak with the hostess and manager. The manager eventually came over and took our drink orders, which we did receive. However, there was still no explanation, no clarity on who our server was, and no indication of what to expect next. After receiving our drinks, we waited another 15 minutes. No server ever came by. The manager did not follow up. No food order was taken. No communication of any kind. At that point, we'd had enough. We informed the hostess that we were leaving due to the complete lack of service and walked out. I wanted to enjoy this place and was prepared for a busy morning. Being busy is understandable. This place is just wonderful. We came at the height of the day around 11:30 and 15th in line! Time passed and we were finally seated after maybe a good hour and some change. Marissa our server was nice and offered suggestions which I loved because we, a party of four wanted to try everything. The vibe was very nice. It was busy but not chaotic. The washroom is very nice and spacious and good mirror ladies, wink, wink. The food was amazing. The flavors, the presentation and the taste was 10 out of 10. We had favorites and of course but overall a good brunch spot and low key worth the hour plus wait. The staff was pleasant and smiled walking by and someone came with tab on wait time for food and the price point is excellent. The food was overall okay. We ate it and it was good but it was the middle of the road. One of the dishes was straight up cold. Not excellent but not by any means bad. The service is really what dropped this review a star. Our server was very nice but we were there 15 minutes before we got water and then it took even longer to get our drink order and food. Also there were people near us that got seated long after us and served before us. The ambiance was actually quite nice very clean and well put together. Curiosity got the best of me, so I dropped by here for my first time on a mid-morning during a weekday. When I arrived, there was no one attending the hostess stand. After being told by two employees that they would be right with me, I was eventually seated. Once at my table, my waitress walked past three times before acknowledging me. Two more times before she took my drink request. I ended up ordering a steak breakfast bowl, with the portion size described as huge. Hardly. I was pleased that the waitress was able to wrangle up some half-and-half from the kitchen. I had to engage in a guessing game with her as to what dairy items were actually available for my coffee, though: Cream? No. Whole milk? No. During my visit, the restaurant wasn't really that busy, so I guess that perhaps they were understaffed? The one single thing that really disturbed me was the overwhelming chemical smell from some cleaning agent that an employee sprayed onto a nearby table! Overwhelming. I almost got up and left. They were super busy with many people The restaurant is very bright and inviting. It was clean. The bathrooms were clean too. The place has many tables, chairs and booths. I believe there is a bar in the back. My food was delicious. I had a healthy turkey omelette with eggs instead of egg whites. The dish came with home style potatoes which were delicious. Eggs and potatoes both needed more seasoning. Pepper helped. Pancakes are huge. The million dollar potatoes were ordered by a tablemate and I had a nibble. Pretty good! The place was very busy. Again, it's new. So. But we had gotten on the list through the website. And it was damn near impossible to get someone to acknowledge us to let them know we had arrived. People who just walked up were able to get acknowledgement. But anyone who would talk to us would just send us to someone else. The third place we were sent, they would not - WOULD NOT!! - even look at us. I finally had to go rude and just start talking to the gal, telling her we got on the list via the website and we had arrived. She just basically said okay. No time estimate or anything. It was...weird. Frustrating. OH!!! And!!!! Okay agin, they just opened. But the window at our booth faced east. There were no window treatments. Luckily it was overcast for part of our meal. It was VERY crowded. We got on the waitlist and only had to wait 4-5 minutes upon arrival. Our server came right over. I ordered coffee right away. The coffee cup and silverware were all dirty and had to be sent back. We ordered regular breakfast food and I had a lunch item. I had the pecan and chicken salad and a half sandwich. My salad was wonderful (I will get that again). My sandwich wasn't hot, it was messy, and had WAY too much sauce on it. I'm not sure I would get that sandwich again. All it all, it was just ok. This time I checked in on their watchlist which helps with the wait time. You can sign into the waitlist on their app as a guest and once you get there go in and let the hostess know that you are on the waitlist so she can check you in. My wait was about 10 minutes after that. I chose to sit at the bar area this time. It was a little hard for me to get up into the chairs but I'm older and shorter so someone younger and taller might not have that problem. I did notice that other people had the same problem just getting up into the seats, pulling it forward and getting situated but after that they are a comfortable seat better than a stool. The seats are wicker with a back and were of a comfortable size to accommodate a larger person. If you have hip or back issues I would not recommend sitting at the bar. Ladies there is no place to put your purse. The area itself is nice, clean and well attended. I had a wonderful waitress and the atmosphere at the bar was nice and relaxing. My lemon ricotta pancakes were so good and fluffy you don't need syrup. A large glass of cranberry juice (ocean spray) and coffee made for the perfect breakfast. We were fortunate enough to get reservations for this new First Watch location's soft opening. We were immediately greeted at the door by manager Michael who provided a smile and warm welcome. We were seated at a table where one side was a booth seat, and the other side was a chair. It was in front of a big sign that welcomed us to the Germantown location. Shortly after being seated, our server, Ashley came over and offered us coffee. She served it in the mugs that were sitting on the table and left a carafe full of this tasty coffee so we could self refill with the endless pot. The menu is quite extensive with many options. Ashley suggested that we start with the hardwood smoked bacon and we are so glad that we did! The bacon was sweet, but at the same time it had a slight kick! It was so good! I ordered the Floridian French Toast and my partner ordered the chorizo omelette. My French toast was served with a generous helping a fruit, a top and a lovely display. The kiwi, strawberries, and bananas were a great complement to the challah bread French toast and it was served with a bottle of warm syrup. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his omelet and kale tonic. The kale tonic was such a refreshing drink made with kale, cucumber and apple. The staff checked on us multiple times while we were dining and our main server Ashley was super friendly and attentive! We came here shortly after this location opened for business. So I'm thinking some of these things experienced may be part of that - just being new and figuring things out, growing pains as it were. I don't think any issues we had would be systemic and they should be easily overcome. So, for the issues, such as they were. 1) I listed for the waitlist on the website and got in line, it said to "check in" when I got there. So when I got there there was an employee at the front door with an iPad taking names etc so o checked in. Well I wasn't supposed to check in with her evidently, she told me to check in inside at the next hostess stand. The one with 2 employees not doing anything except bringing people to their tables and actively ignoring anyone else. So I had to be a bit rude and barge in and let them know I had checked in via the website. After that it was maybe a 10 minute wait, not very long especially considering it was quite busy. Issue #2: we were sat along the front in a booth on the east side of the building. In the morning. With table to ceiling (high ceilings too) windows. Windows which had no window treatments of any kind. Is anyone picking up what I'm putting down? In case you aren't - the sun was BLASTING in so that I felt like I was sitting on Alderaan right before, you know..... oh man too soon..... issue 3) one of our crew got "the traditional" breakfast and nothing was really seasoned or anything just kind of blah and meh. Tasted fine and was cooked properly but just..... bland. Oh and 4) they didn't have any of the seasonal fall specialities other First Watch locations have this time of year. Ok so - let's sum up and hit some high points. Our waitress was very nice and friendly and doing a great job and kept our coffees filled. The kitchen was working hard and kept things moving, we didn't have much of a wait for a seat and we didn't have much of a wait for food even though, again as was previously mentioned, they were quite busy on this bright sunny solar radiation blasting through the east facing windows directly through my retinas and into my brain morning. I got the biscuits and turkey sausage gravy with eggs. My gravy was nicely seasoned which kind of contrasted with my table mates unseasoned Traditional. Oh - a definite high point was I upgraded my potatoes to the Million Dollar Potatoes and that was definitely worth the charge. Those were very very good, the parm cream sauce being, in my opinion, the best part of it. So all in all I would return especially as I've been to other locations that had been open longer and had things figured out and I've no doubt my next visit will be a 4 or probably even 5 start visit!! read more

We got seated in no time at all. Knocking off two stars because they don't have a vanilla/caramel iced coffee. The waitress said they had an iced vanilla crunch coffee and it was absolutely disgusting. It not only had a strong alcohol taste (there wasn't any in it, so maybe the syrup), but between that and it had half a candy bar in it.. Just gross. Big Bad Breakfast had a fire and is closed so it is the next closest great place to eat around the Poplar-Ridgeway area. First Watch is a chain restaurant but it does t feel like one. However, as the morning progressed, the crowds came. The service was really good in my opinion. I really like to encounter people with pleasant personalities in the service industry. Hi, I have dined in at First Watch before and i was very pleased. Yesterday which was Tuesday 03/31/26 was a disappointment. My daughter and i ordered take-out yesterday morning. The biscuit, turkey sausage gravy , eggs and potatoes were delicious. My daughter had an order of the million dollar bacon. She had something with chorizo and steak. All of that was great. We had 2 orders of Blueberry Lemon Cornbread. The bread was burnt both of them. We were very disappointed. I have tasted the bread before and it was not burnt. This was my daughter's first time. Probably the worst breakfast place I have been to ever for the price. I ordered the chickenchanga and I'm pretty sure they forgot to put any chicken in it. I had to go back and look at the menu to make sure it included chicken and it just wasn't a play on words for egg being in it. Some of the potatoes were undercooked and raw. We dined here when this location first opened and had a good experience. So we were really disappointed with this experience last weekend. We expected it to be busy, but the service was incredibly disappointing. We put ourselves on the waitlist and waited 50 mins on a busy Sunday. When we were seated by the hostess 15-20 mins went by before we ever got a server to stop by our table. He then passed our table letting us know he'd be back shortly. It took another 20 mins for him to come back. The server then came back and took our drink order. It took a while to get our drinks. We had 2 toddlers with us, and for some reason the adults all got their drinks but the kids didn't. I mentioned that the juices hadn't come out and it took another few mins to get those. We then finally were able to order our food. We probably waited for 45 mins for our food to come out. The food came out sporadically which leaves an awkward situation at the table, but what was most frustrating was that our 3 year old son got a half waffle and bacon from the kids menu. Every adults food came before his food and then it took an additional 35 mins to get a KIDS MEAL!! When I mentioned this to the server TWICE, I was told that the kitchen was really busy and food comes out sporadically. He then proceeded to ask if he should just take the kids meal off, to which I responded then what is my toddler going to eat while everyone else sits here and eats? The waffle finally came out and was disheveled and looked unappetizing. To add to this, my brother ordered an additional pancake with his food, and didn't get it until he was already done eating. My niece who is also a toddler got a kids egg and sausage and only got a place of scrambled eggs with no meat. We also in the 2.5 HOURS we were there we didn't get a single refill of our drinks, and even after we asked for one it never came. We sat finished with our food for 30 mins waiting on a ticket when we were told by another server that our server was having computer issues, all for the tickets to be all mixed up. At that point we were all so frustrated and ready to leave that we just paid the tickets and venmo eachother for the meals. The server even knew how frustrated we were and proceeded to ask "was the food at least good?" Overall I would never recommend this place to anyone. While servers walked around and even were dancing while we waited for someone to take our order. After we asked someone walking by who our server was. The server finally came to take our order.
