Looking for a plant based restaurant in Memphis is very difficult. The experience here solidifies my feelings. I've been here about 3-4 times for various items and none are impressive. The smoothie bowl was melted, the fresh juice was pre juiced and poured in to a cup, and the zucchini noodle bowl was just... bleh. In this economy to toss a plate due to undercooked sweet potato and over cooked zucchini noodles as well as lack of flavor is sad, but expected. My advice to this establishment would be; plant based does not mean lack of flavor. Nor does it mean lack of presentation bc my food looked like it was thrown into a box. Very unappealing. Cashew ranch is impressive! Hence my two stars. Would not recommend and won't be coming back. read more

Food needs to be more than just pretty. Everything looks beautiful but is bland tasting. One item actually had flavor and that was the hummus. All ingredients look pretty and I'm sure are nutritious, but just lack much flavor of any kind. We all took bites of each others to try. It wasn't just me thinking something was missing. An onion, pepper, egg, sauces etc should be identifiable based on taste. I never add salt or pepper at restaurants but this place had me scanning for some. Didn't see any at the outside seating area. I love this place so much. Theres not a lot that I like in Memphis, so this place was a nice break from (gestures at the rest of the city). Healthy food, cute decor, lots of dangling plants overhead. Order at the counter then sit with a number, they bring the food out to you. There was a long line to order but it moved quickly. Love this spot for a quick, healthy bite! I always go for the kale Caesar -- the kale is super fresh and never soggy. I usually add the Silo burger patty, which I like way more than the chicken. I recently tried the Hippie Scramble and while it wasn't bad, it didn't exactly stand out either. The presentation was nice, and I appreciated the use of fresh ingredients. Stopped in for lunch ahead of the threatening winter storm coming tomorrow. Entering and ordering can be a bit of a confusion as there is no menu board, but there are menus you can grab to look at BUT they are up at the registers to if you are 3/4/5 people back you ain't getting no menu. My favorite bowls are the Good Roots. It has roasted sweet potatoes and golden beets, grilled red onions, bell peppers, kale, black sesame seeds, with tahini ginger sauce. The other is the El Goodo. It has sliced avocado, pico de gallo, serrano peppers, cilantro, yellow onion, pressed garlic, lemon, black and kidney beans, roasted sweet potatoes, kale, sweet corn, grilled red onions, and bell peppers. Love City Silo! Everything I have ever had has been so great - even the beet burger which I never would've thought I would like!

Let me start by saying: I just left City Silo and I already can't wait to go back! I ordered one of their toast + spreads from their small plate portion of the menu -- I wanted one of each because they sounded so delicious but landed on their Pico de Cado. The flavors were very basic/straightforward but very delicious. The avocado was perfectly ripe and the pico de Gallo was super tasty! I also ordered their Memphis Chick sandwich. (It was the Rendezvous sauce + cashew ranch that influenced me most.) And I am SO GLAD I got it!!! And surprisingly the sharp cheddar tasted so great on this sandwich, too. The chicken was so tender and well-seasoned. (Also: yes. Both of the dishes I ordered came on bread. Their bread tastes wonderful and I regret nothing!!!) The inside of the restaurant is adorable and I loved how comfortable & pretty it all was. I *almost* ordered a smoothie to go and REALLY regret not doing that!
