    Chicken & Waffles!!!
    K T.

I have been to Tony's a bajillion times, and have usually gotten the same couple things, but tonight, my friend and I decided to get out of our comfort zone and try new things. Boy, were we regretting it! I'm not sure if there's a new cook or what, but EVERYTHING we got was beyond bland! We started with the Southwest Seafood Dip appetizer. It was essentially a bowl of cream with a few bits of corn in it. If we were lucky, we would catch a remnant of what we thought was either shrimp or crawfish. The 'seafood' was like a whisper in the wind. The dip itself had very little spice. My friend got the Tortilla Soup for dinner and was less than impressed with the flavor (and he's a HUGE Tortilla Soup junkie!). I opted for the Southwest Salad. The salad had potential to be a great salad, but it seems like they just stopped with flavor. The Southwest Dressing was very light on flavor, but was LITERALLY the only flavor! Adding spices to the chicken or some salsa or something could have really taken this salad from 'Meh' to 'Wow'. I did enjoy the tiny bits of grilled corn and beans, but even those weren't seasoned. This salad needs a palate rework for sure! Unfortunately for me, I got violently ill after eating too. I'm hoping it was just a fluke, but timing couldn't have been worse after having a subpar meal. Another thing that really irked me was the suggested tipping on the bill. The suggested options were 20%, 30%, and 40%! That's absurd!!! Tipping culture is getting out of control - PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES A LIVING WAGE! 15%, 18%, and 20% are more than reasonable suggestions. On the plus side of the experience, Conner is a pretty decent server! He was quick with taking our order and refilling our drinks. Not 30%-40% service great, but a solid 20% for sure!

Grilled Catfish Platter with baked potatoes and onion rings

One of our favorite places! We usually get grilled catfish plates, wraps, or salads. This last time, two people in our party tried the protein bowls. They were very good and designed to be completely customizable. Very nice option! Our usual items were as delicious as we remembered! Employees are always kind and attentive. They look happy to be there! It is a low lit environment. The restaurant is centered around a bar. There's always a ballgame on the TVs. Some nights they have bands and trivia. Daytime is good with kiddos, they have board games and such. Louder as it transitions into evening and dinner time.

We came here for the Grizzlies watch party event. However, they also had a live band playing at the same time. Not only could we not hear the game, not everyone in the crowd was there for the Grizzlies festivities, so it wasn't as fun. The food was pretty good; it was typical sports bar food. I did like the all-American burger as it was well-seasoned. The crowd here isn't very diverse, but I recommend looking at their events and visiting based on your interest in what's going on.

We were greeted and seated quickly. The restaurant gave off an old west vibe. The menu could use some sprucing up (adding color, updating pictures and making prices more visible). The food was good though portion sizes are debatable depending on what you order. I would recommend to a friend. The sound system was horrible and music was on and off and glitchy for the duration of the visit.

    Buffalo Wrap

Went for Thursday night trivia. It was fun, but the questions are definitely curated for an older crowd. I tried the Buffalo Chicken wrap and it was pretty good, but the blue cheese crumbles inside the wrap had a weird minty taste. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive.

The food is always a win, and Brad was friendly and funny. His drinks were just what I needed after a long day at work.

The bite was heaven. Then the dinner came. The beef tenderloin presented so beautifully and tasted so much better. The mushroom sauce was perfection with finely balanced flavors. Then I paired it with an Earthquake Cab, . Chef kiss!! Everything was absolutely memorable and enjoyable. One thing they could do to add to the ambiance is blocking the headlights of cars from shining into their restaurant. There are simple things that can be rolled out in front the restaurant to assist. But even with the lights shining they are the best thing I've had in a long time.

I had a perfect dirty martini and my husband had an excellent old fashioned ( chose not to do the smoked version. ) We were seated at the time of our reservation with courteous and prompt attention from our waiter. He informed us of all the specials and gave us the right amount of time to relax before ordering. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. I like the atmosphere, not too large of a dining area, I like the separate room of tables, with a fireplace, along with the area of booths for a more intimate setting. The bar itself is large and has seating on the outskirts of it as well.

I do believe C and I have only been here once as a couple. It did not go well at all, so we have not been back together, as she is holding a bit of a grudge. It's a long story but it all ties back to service. That night we had the worst table in the building and service was spotty at best. Food was still pretty good, just whole ass annoyed by the entirety of the rest of the experience. I am lucky enough to be able to be taken to/host dinner with clients and manufacturers a good bit. They like places like this so I get by ever so often. Gotta love expensed meals!!! Tehehe I like the open kitchen concept they have and the bar is really cool. The metal shelves at the bar that store the booze are bad ass. It's warm and cozy and has a great vibe overall. The last time we sat on the enclosed patio. I had not sat out there before. I think the larger tables all go out there. We had seven and there was another group of about twenty in the same room with us. Food ranges from fairly good to fucking great. I've never had anything bad here, but a few sighs have been had, mostly by misunderstood expectations of what I was getting I would say. So, quite possibly I am the problem. As with most of my problems, actually... The oysters Rockefeller are very different from the norm. Fried oysters on a side of spinach. That's what it seems like. I ate it up, don't get me wrong. I did just switch to only fried oysters after the first one. No need wasting stomach space on spinach. Charbroiled oysters is always a good move and the preparation remains traditional on that one. I do find the oysters to be quite massive and hard to chew the whole thing at once. Cutting them just seems silly though. Steaks are prepared very well and to your liking each time. I have never had a bad one. Good flavor too. I am going to spring on the Hawaiian Ribeye the next time I go on my dime. It's a classic that I remember from Steak and Ale as well as Houston's. Both now gone from Memphis. I like the she crab soup an awful lot, and just about every entree I have had here is killer. You really cannot go wrong with the food. Just order something you normally like and boom. I will also say this. The short ribs I had last time were some of the best I have ever had. Bravo on that! Additionally, I had two giant pieces for like $40! I could only eat one of them after all of the appetizers. Oh.... Yea. They have a hot lobster roll that is good! You don't see that in Memphis very often!! Get you some. Wait.... Lamb Lollipops. They have evolved some of the years but they have really good lamb chops. They used to be the exact same dish as their sister concepts of Itta Bena, BB Kings, and Lafayette's. I am not sure if the whole family still has the old version or not. Here it has changed a good bit. As I write this, I crave it.... Ugh. Damn your foods and your seductive prowess food skills! Lastly, Tommy Peters did great things for this city's food scene. I am sad that he is gone but I know he was proud of this one! Ok. That's enough, Adam.... No one reads this crap anyway. '26 - 48

No crowds, no excuse for such bad service. This is the main reason for this bad review. Portions: Small. The $28 octopus appetizer is the smallest portion size on record I've ever been served anywhere on North America, Europe or Asia. There's always a lot of food- every meal is huge- and we are always satisfied whenever we eat here. I've summarized my thoughts on different meals below. The Crab and Artichoke Dip is good but I didn't feel it was very flavorful. My mom loved it. I did really like the Firecracker Chicken Wraps even though about a third of them are the wrapping. I paid an upcharge to get the Chicken and Strawberry Salad with the Raspberry dressing instead of a house salad which was fantastic. Also, huge. I took half of it home. I got the Napa Grilled Chicken for my meal which was soft, juicy, and flavorful. Hubby got the steak prime rib which definitely melted in my mouth but otherwise did nothing for me. The Coconut Chili Mahi Mahi was awesome and flaky and the rice mixture that came with was so tasty. I was delightfully surprised. The balsamic vinaigrette is not overpowering as it often is at other places. It even tasted good with the bread. Flo's Fillet medium well done is thin but packed with seasonings and flavor. The medium is thick and tender but had less seasonings The Chocolate Stampede was huge.
