Food was decent and prices are moderate. Drinks are strong and well made. Only complaint is that the meal comes with a salad.... I got my salad dressing but never got my salad. When I asked about it I was told that she didn't think I wanted one so she gave me a second side instead. I pointed out that's why I asked for honey mustard dressing for the salad... she then offered to bring me one, but I was almost done with the rest of my meal by then. The first thing I noticed when walking in was a very bad smell...but not to be deterred, I continued on. The food was exquisite! The service was HORRIBLE. I do believe that our waiter completely forgot about us, maybe thinking 2 old ladies wouldn't tip well? Well he was wrong and I would have tipped him better if he had at least pretended he cared about waiting on us. Then they went ahead and added the tip! So be it, I didn't give him any more cash. They turned us away. We had a group of 20 and they had tables but asked us to leave. Not good. We called ahead and lady on phone stated she checked with manager and he would not accommodate but that they had 4 tables or 16 seats. We had a great experience at side street. I've always wondered what this restaurant was like, but never found myself there until tonight before a play. Although the entry had a slight smoke smell because of the cigar bar next store, it didn't carry into the dining room at all. At around 6pm the restaurant was lively but not overwhelming at all. The ambience felt casual and welcoming. Our server was very attentive and accommodating. I really liked the food, from appetizers to mains to dessert. We got the bbq chicken nachos and fried mozzarella wedges. Both apps were great. I got the salmon and thought it was cooked really well. The chef's veggies could maybe have used something more special to bring them from basic to a stand out side, but as I chose them as a healthy option, they served their purpose. The pasta that I had a bite of was very tasty. All portions were generous and everyone was full. The Cesar salad was heavy on the dressing, but the generous chicken serving probably was benefited by the amount of dressing. The dessert was also good, I liked the brownies more than the fried cheesecake. All in all, it was a great dining experience and I'm glad I could finally check this spot off my list. read more

I have loved eating here for a while. I always get the buffalo chicken eggrolls and the shrimp alfredo add salmon. The grilled salmon alone is some of the best I've had. I would get that by itself. My kids love the chicken alfredo and the cajun pasta. Customer service is always on point and I've never had a problem or a bad meal here. So this is a great after work spot. Good food and drinks. I had the Lynchburg Lemonade (2) and what's pictured. The drinks were heavy pour. They never disappoint. The pasta was seasoned well and the cake was super moist. The manager, Richie, came around and asked how the food was and what our thoughts were about a couple of dishes. I can't believe this was my first time here! A friend recommended that I try the Buffalo Egg Rolls and guess what I did?!?! Tried the Buffalo Egg Rolls! Ha! I called in my order, although they are open with social distancing seating available. It was a smooth process. I called, gave them my name, and headed that way. I was impressed with the way they are taking precautions to make sure we stay safe. Now on to the food! Ok, I initially said I would try two and then let my husband try two. But, when I took the first bite the likelihood of that happening was slim to none. The chicken was tender, they had just enough buffalo sauce, and the ranch complimented them well. Covid strikes again. My husband and I haven't eaten here since covid began. We decided to have dinner, on pasta night. NoPE, things didnt turn out like we planned. When we entered there were probably 5 o 6 people inside, so it wasnt busy,crowded, swamped.. My sever was nice, but he had a cough that made me nervous.. I didnt see him cough around my food but he coughed from the time we sat down til we left.. Appetizers served in a disposable basket. No silverware, only plastic cutlery. I was disappointed that because of covid these drastic changes have been implemented. We still ordered the pasta because that's why we came.. It didnt come wit a salad, just pasta and a side of bread. The pasta was overcooked! The alfredo came out of a jar, didnt taste homemade. My shrimp was cooked perfectly but NO seasoning/no flavor. We just packed up, paid n left. Sadly,it will probably be another year before I return. My issue is, the consumer is affected by the pandemic just as the businesses are. Our funds are limited or budget/allotted for certain things and when a person goes to a restaurant they expect good service, good tasting good n good quality of the food purchased. We always save time and park right in the garage and walk across. (Parking is only $3 after 6pm) I was able to easily walk in and find a table. Tricia was our server and she was absolutely wonderful!! I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Rolls and the Cajun Pasta. They were both great. On to the drinks - this is what has always made Side Street great! They have a good variety of mixed cocktails to choose from with very interesting names. I went with the Mango Tango Martini. I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is laid back and comfy, easy to comfortable here. I used to like the Cajun Pasta, The BBQ nachos are very good, the three later strawberry cake melts in your mouth but the heavy frosting is VERY sweet, still quite good. most of the apps are pretty darn good and overall most of their food is pretty spot on. The only hits on this spot is the parking lot across the street needs to have a better sign so you're warned that you will be towed if you park there. On my last visit, there was a broken sink in the funky bathroom but probably okay now. Bottom line: The servers and bartenders are always nice and welcoming, the food comes out quick even when they're busy and the food is very good. So nice, I went twice.... in 24 hours. Before that I haven't eaten at Side Street in over 10 years. I had friends come back into town back-to-back and we all had pleasant memories of their delicious Blackened Chicken Alfredo. Once the first group confirmed it was still just as good, the other group wanted to go too! I went on Friday and Saturday and both nights were equally busy. Even with how busy they were service was on point and nothing took long. I ordered the Cajun Pasta and the Salmon Piccata - they loaded the dishes with flavor and give you a good amount (see pictures). And the price.... so nice. Both dishes were $16 and $18 respectively. Being my very first time here at Side Street Cafe. I was impressed with the food and my server. I ordered the shrimp Alfredo and cheese Sticks & they were to die for. It was a very busy night being it was Halloween Weekend. I have had a hard time getting a table due to the Halloween festivities & the kitchen was about to close. My server was able to get my order in & that made me very happy that she made it happen instead of some servers saying sorry the kitchen is closed. My food came out piping hot from the appetizers and main dish. The chef took pride in preping my meal at the last minute. Unlike half the chefs when it comes to closing time doesn't. My drink of choice was the FMD (I'll let the waitress tell you the full name ) and when I say you only need 1 drink! This was well worth the $8 bucks. Opted for a burger with fries. Just because I was full off the drink and buffalo egg roll. You do not have to sit very long when waiting for your order it comes FAST! Which is so what you need when you're hungry. I'm updating my review because we tried Side Street again and had a MUCH better experience. The pastas were all good. Great portions, good flavor. The chicken cordon bleu was a little different.
