What a cool place! The ambiance and service were great! The food was yummy. The drinks were ok, the local beers are fantastic.

This was such an escentric place! We found it on yelp when we were looking for a cocktail in midtown. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is a treasure. This is an old house turned bar. There is seating at the bar or you can pick a number of rooms with seating. They have food available and are known for their signature cocktails. If you're looking for a fun, laidback, unique experience, this is a fun spot for a mocktail/cocktail or bite. We spent over an hour and a half here this afternoon after our Graceland tour playing games and laughing.

Love the atmosphere here. It's so cool. The room we were in was called the dining room and the decorations were just fun. I tried a lot of different things with my friend group but the cheese plate was my favorite thing because it had the most unique cheeses. The mango cheese was my favorite but they were all excellent. Loved: - Appetizer: Sausage and Cheese Plate - Sauce: BBQ Liked: - Appetizer: BBQ Nachos - Side: Tots Ok: - Appetizer: Chili Cheese Tots - Appetizer: Chips and Queso - Tacos: Pulled Pork Disliked: - Drink: I'll Have What She's Having - Drink: Sazerack - Taco: Shrimp

Memphis Whistle is one of the most unique spots I've stopped to get a drink in Memphis. The renovated house gives off an intimate, casual, and homey atmosphere that is worth coming back for every time. I always try to snag a spot in the "lounge" area, which foregoes tables in favor of unique couches and chairs to create a quirky living room complete with TV trays and fun eclectic decor. The food is fine in my opinion, but not the reason I come back. All the dishes I've tried are simple, which adds to the homey vibe, but none so far have been standouts. The drink selection has always been good. The staff are wonderful and part of the reason why I would chose this place over a bigger restaurant. I would give 4/5 stars because the shining star of Memphis whistle is the intimate and eclectic atmosphere along with the Staff as opposed to the food and drink selection. However, it is a small space, and I think I would enjoy myself less if I had to sit at a table because the lounge was occupied. In that case, going on a busy night might be a gamble.

My friend and I were scouting out potential watering holes for an upcoming event and we happened upon Memphis Whistle. The location is ideal and it's beautifully decorated inside & out. The bartenders and patrons have unbeatably upbeat & welcoming demeanors. Most importantly, the drinks are strong and tasty. Make sure to stop in here with your friends and you won't be disappointed.

Tiny dive, local culture, colorful and fun. Small menu of great food with beautiful cocktails!

Had this place on my list since opening but have always been unlucky, found it closed the 2 times we tried to go. But our dinner last week was definitely worth it. Such a special, homey yet magical place. Few outdoor tables, also bar seating and few indoor tables and cute unique rooms inside. Owned by a couple who run the bar and restaurant themselves. Cocktail experts who can give you great recommendations, well priced $10. Favorite was the lychee and gin cocktail, "I'll have what she's having"... there's another cocktail I can't remember, was topped with smoked rosemary. Burgers were huge, fresh brioche bun. I liked the Tiger but didn't like the big block of blue cheese so much. Would probably prefer a milder and softer cheese. Lions Mane poppers were really good too. There was a big party inside so we opted for outdoor seating, which we enjoyed. But still would like to try the indoor experience next time. Lovely service, def feels like a second home.

The bar itself is intimate with about 8 seats, so get there early if you want one. From the outside, the place looks like a literal house, but once you step inside it's a whole vibe: low lighting, great music, and nonstop food and drinks flowing. The bartenders were amazing--friendly, attentive, and clearly know what they're doing. We ordered wings, fries, Brussels sprouts, and spring rolls, plus a spicy margarita and French 75s. Every single thing hit. The food came out quick, fresh, and piping hot, and the drinks were perfectly balanced. By the time we left around 7 PM, the place was completely packed. This spot fills up fast for a reason. Can't wait to come back and work our way through more of the menu. Highly recommend--this is a must-visit.

One suggestion: the front patio could really benefit from some music. Even a low-volume speaker tied into the DJ's system would help create the same experience outside without disturbing the neighborhood. The biggest challenge is parking. Street parking is risky, and several visitors have learned the hard way that tickets are easy to get. Save yourself the headache and use the parking garage across the street for about $4. It's worth it compared to a $25 parking ticket. Unfortunately, service was the weakest part of the experience. The staff appeared overworked, overwhelmed, and likely short-staffed. While that is understandable, the customer experience suffered. There was very little interaction from greeters, servers, or bartenders. Guests are instructed to wait to be seated, but there was little guidance, communication, or assistance. Long waits and a lack of acknowledgment made the visit frustrating. Food was mixed. The wings and fries were excellent--so good they disappeared before there was time to take a picture. The spring rolls, however, were under-seasoned, slightly overcooked, and only two come with an order, which felt disappointing for the price. The dipping sauces helped, but the filling could have used more flavor. The standout of the night was the Smash It cocktail. Made with Suntory Toki whiskey, basil, lemon, simple syrup, and an absinthe rinse, it was refreshing, balanced, and absolutely delicious. Easily the highlight of the visit. Would I return? Yes. But next time I'll go with adjusted expectations: eat beforehand, enjoy the atmosphere, grab a cocktail, and consider anything else a bonus. Pro Tips: Order the Smash It cocktail. The wings and fries are worth trying. Park in the garage across the street. Don't expect fast service during busy times. If you're hungry, have a snack before you arrive. Great atmosphere and cocktails, but service and parking keep it from reaching its full potential. With better staffing and a little more attention to guests, this place could easily be a 5-star experience.

There is a large bar top with very nice barstools, a dinner style seating area, a small stage for performances, an area that can either be a dance floor or anything else, and a wonderful back area as a private lounge. The private lounge has privacy glass. It can be a VIP area, or a cigar lounge, or another venue space. There are restrooms for men and women. I was impressed with The Pocket layout. It is accessible from a wonderfully historic staircase from the Tailor's Union upstairs. I loved that at the beginning of the staircase coming down, there is an original fireplace in the brick wall of the stairwell, super original and very nostalgic to the space. Overall, I recommend this space for venues. I hope that they are bookable on Peerspace or another venue space site. Great experience.

I thought that was a really dope idea that you have to walk in and then walk behind whatever you think it's supposed to be there to find the actual bar. When you come in the building is kind of dark. But when you walk back to the bar, it's super white and lit. It looks beautiful! We talked to the owner for a little bit, he was super nice and super friendly. My drink was good. Customer service was pretty good as well. We got there too late to where there was no food, but that's not why we were coming. This is a nice little hidden gem. That's the way the owner described it! I thoroughly enjoyed it.
