Excellent place for food and drinks .. awesome burgers and different types of appetizers that were delicious.. love the ambience

Catfish meal with slaw and comeback sauce

Great portion size (not too much), tasty catfish, delicious fries, and I got it with comeback sauce, which went better with the fries and catfish than the Cajun tartar sauce even did! The slaw was a bit soupy for me, but they were unfortunately out of the other sides I was considering. Service was very kind! Southern hospitality at its finest.

Visiting from Los Angeles I asked a friend of a nice local place to eat with my kid -- she recommended this place and she ain't miss !!! This little place was so cute , it made me feel like I was in a episode of cheers lol My daughter found a table ( she's 2) it was raining so we walked from our hotel about 7 mins total -- it was a Saturday so they had football specials ! Got her a bucket of chicken tender that's were seasoned to the GODS ! It came with 6 she ate 3 ! I had the bettle burger with pepper jack cheese and bacon EXTRA pickles .. 10/10 . They had a number of games on with the captions cuz I can't hear lol Spent about 45 dollars and well worth it!

My coworker and I had a nice dinner here when we were in Memphis for work. I got the BBQ plate and it was amazing especially for a bar and not a BBQ specific restaurant. It was super filling too. I had a few cocktails that I enjoyed a lot too. Service was really friendly and changed one of the channels for us when we wanted to watch a basketball game. Cool place to check out!

The Green Beetle is awesome! Had the Beetle Burger with bacon jam -- absolutely delicious. Brit, the bartender, was super friendly and introduced me to a great new beer. Love this place -- perfect mix of great food, cold drinks, and Memphis charm! Thank you Mike and Brit!

Great spot downtown with great portion sizes. Incredible diversity in their menu especially with burgers. The service was very kind and helpful, and relatively quick considering they had one waitress at lunchtime. Plenty of decorations which add tremendously to the atmosphere of being a small local place.

Special of the day, French Dip

The Green Beetle is KNOWN for burgers. I was asking about chicken wings, and the driver to my hotel made sure to point out the Green Beetle as the best burger, on our way. I really enjoy red meat, but I do not eat a whole lot of it. I had read that Memphis was the chicken wing capital, and thought to try a recommendation in the area. Well, it was just fried chicken wings, I was looking for hot wings, so I passed. On my walkabout, I passed by the Green Beetle. I wasn't really feeling a burger, but it is Memphis oldest tavern and a local went out of his way to mention it to me, so I stopped in. I had been walking and it was warm, and the lovely waitress brought me a cool glass of water as soon as I sat down. They have a cute little patio, but I sat inside to get some cool air. I did appreciate that it was cooler, but also that they kept the big doors open so I could see outside. Still had a view. I think South Main is charming and would love to spend some more time in the area. The Green Beatle has a good menu, simple but some interesting options. I really didn't want a burger but was tempted with one that had goat cheese and a jalapeno strawberry bourbon jam. And then I saw a sign for the special of the day, a French Dip. Again, not my typical order, but it is one of my sisters very favorites, and I thought I would get one in her honor, I guess. The french dip is not on their menu, but I asked the waitress how it was, she smiled and said it was one of her favorites. Decision made. The picture doesn't do it justice, I was inside with the light coming at me, so you can't really see the deliciousness. The meat was so tender, the bread was both soft and crunchy. Had a bit of a char on the bread, which I enjoy. The au jus was beefy and salty and the cheese held it all together. I ate the hell out of that sandwich. I thought the fries could have used a little salt, but no matter, I just dipped them in au jus. All in all, I had a lovely time. And I needed a meat nap.

We love visiting "the oldest" tavern/bar in cities we visit. This place was really cool! Our server was extremely friendly as was everyone as we first walked in. The Tavern has maintained its "old timey" aesthetic. We ordered just drinks but the food we saw people ordering looked really good, especially the Beetle Burger. I got their Dark and Stormy while my husband got their Somo Paloma. Just a heads-up: there's a 15% tax on each drink you order which is charged separately.

This classic tavern has long been a stop for me for a cold drink. However, this visit was the first time I had food and I wasn't disappointed. The bacon jam was an instant draw for me. It was applied well to the juicy burger. The fries were freshly cut and perfectly seasoned. The service was ok and accommodating while there were many big games on their multitude of TVs. Overall, there is a cozy vibe with a local feel. I'd recommend.

I am rating 3 for the food because we really had a delicious meal. However, we were over taxed as reflected on the bill . The waitress tried to explain it but it really did not make sense. We went to 4 other dining establishments during our stay in downtown Memphis and no other restaurant had a separate liquor tax on the bill. Did not haggle or raise a fuss but will not frequent this location again as we do not feel this practice is fair to the consumer

Another great find on a business trip...I was beating myself up on my first trip to Memphis because I didn't get to check out this spot. Needless to say I was not going to let it happen a second time. While Memphis is know for its BBQ, make way for the catfish too!! Located in the downtown area, this will indeed be a go-to spot for me while in town. COVID PROTOCOLS: As you come in you are asked to sign-in on a sheet of paper that has columns for your name, email address, and telephone number. The table also has a very large bottle of hand sanitizer for use. The bartender was the only person serving shortly after lunch and was very attentive. He recommended the catfish and I agreed. I opted for the fries and side salad as the sides. The salad was small, but mighty. So good I forgot to take a picture; sorry. The catfish came out piping hot and fresh. Two huge pieces might I add. The homemade Cajun tartar sauce is just what you need to dip all of that goodness up. It's the best $13 I've spent in a long time. Be sure to check out some of the local beer on tap as well. Can't wait to go back. Bar areas was closed, so I sat at a table...

Took my family here today after a day at the movies. Vee was our server and she gave fantastic service. The restaurant gives a sports bar vibe inside but was clean just really loud. The salads we got were really big and very good. The kids chicken fingers were delicious and we really recommend trying this restaurant.

HIDDEN GEM…read more IN DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS So as y'all know I'm not in memphis as much like I use to be but imma ALWAYS put y'all on when I think something is worth y'all while..... or not If you been here since the start y'all know I'm a wing connoisseur and I don't play when it comes to my wings. My bestie and I were contemplating on where we was going to eat since it was late and we wanted something in downtown memphis. Yall we are born and raised in memphis and this was our first time walking around near Beale St and Peabody looking like tourist trying to find this spot we seen online. First off when we went in the first thing we asked was "did y'all change the name of this place?" Because the name online was Zacs Bar and Grill but the on the door was Jade's Bar and grill. That was 1 . We then proceeded to ask if they were still serving food because it was 10@nite on a Tuesday and every other restaurant/bar was closing they kitchen. She then said the kitchen was open but they was only serving wings and fries and that was another But guess what we did... IGNORE THEM Luckily the cook was nice enough to let us order another item other then the wings but when I say I am 1000% ecstatic that I got them. WHEN I TELL YALL THESE WERE THE BEST WINGS IVE HAD IN MEMPHIS IN A LONG TIME. I got honey hot ( a memphis staple) as the flavor... I ain't never had no honey hot like that before. And the seasoning on the fries LAWD. that cook did his thing in there! Like everything was made to order and you know the place is when they have they own house made ranch!! All I can say is you gotta try it out for yourselves to honestly pick up what I'm putting down. Ya dig? So if you ever in downtown memphis and looking for some FYE ASS hot wings check out Jades Bar and Grill. Sometimes red flags actually turn into green flags.

Just a year ago they offered wine and liquor at the bar, b it have since scaled back to beer and 5% alcohol beverages. This is a bummer on sales because I observed a few people come in to request a mixed drink. I stayed at the Hampton for a few days. The first night I went down to check out the menu and noticed a woman at the bar chowing down on wings. She said the were really good. and came in about 7 different flavors. Cool, note taken. The next night I ordered four flavors. The Buffalo, jerk, lemon pepper and honey hot. The wings were cooked marvelously well done with a lil crisp on the end bits but still delicious on the meaty parts. Three stars are for the limited drink offerings (no liquor, no wine) as well as a having food on the menu that wasn't available.

I love waffles.. I love Monte Cristo sandwiches.. seems like an ideal combo. A few friends and I have been in a few times now and this past trip he took us around the city. Again, I cannot say enough incredible things about he and his restaurant. Kooky even has food challenges: a 7 lb burger, a two-person 15 lb burger, and a four-person massive 25 lb burger! I've done the 25 lber and they were able to cook that burger so perfectly! Most places would undoubtedly have had the middle undercooked.
