We absolutely love Huey's Midtown. It's close to the house which is great! We love the neighborhood bar feel. The food is always good, service is always pretty consistent, good drinks for a good price, and that brownie thing with the ice cream I'd probably fight someone about. I know this sounds crazy but my fave thing to get is the sweet potato fries (the best I've ever had & the chipotle ranch that it comes with *chefs kiss*) and a side salad! You don't find many burgers places that have good salads but I love them from Huey's!!! All in all it's def on the list for go to places that we know won't disappoint! My kids love it. SN: only thing that bothers me are the table cloths. They are so long and they touch my legs when wearing shorts. I know that sounds crazy but If you're a texture person like me just a heads up! You know, I like burger but something just wasn't there. First off I asked for sweet potato fries and got regular fries so that kinda sucked but the burger.. the meat was just plain. I mean add an egg and some seasoning I g to give it some kinda kick but to just throw a burger in a grill and cook it. Def miss. Onions and pickles and a bun don't make the star. The fried mushrooms were also just ehh and sadly we asked for that and pickles. Rough day for a first trip. There is potential so maybe next time I'll pick something other than the signature burger. This location can be a hit or miss when it comes to wait times. There was hardly anyone there when we went on a weekday evening (think it was a Tuesday) and waited for an hour for our food. Sometimes our appetizer comes the same time as our entrees and for some that can be a win if it comes out quickly. There's only 2 stalls in the bathroom and you may end up waiting in line when it's slammed. The food is up to standard like other locations but you can end up getting too little fried pickles even tho you paid $9. Soups of the day are solid, my favorite is the broccoli cheese soup. All in all, some days your waiter/waitress will be attentive and other days, you won't see them while you're waiting a while for your food. Whether you'll be in and out quickly or you'll be waiting forever, is a coin toss. Same with if you get enough fried pickles or not. If I wanted to gamble I'd go to Southland. read more

Unfortunately this tradition stopped during the pandemic and it has been discontinued just to be on the safe side (insurance and all). We came to the midtown location because the downtown location was packed. Midtown was busy also. We had the bluff city burger and the sunshine burger. Bluff city comes with bacon, onion straws, BBQ sauce on a Kaiser roll while the sunshine burger comes with mushrooms and has an over medium fried egg with bacon. As sides we got French fries and the tater tots. Service, even though the place was busy, was friendly. Our waitress was knowledgeable and brought our food out in a timely manner. One of the most well-known and fun to visit burger joints in Memphis! They have good live music and a large Menu with something for everyone, including vegans and vegetarians! I did have to remove a star because they accidentally put a real beef patty in my vegan order once, so be sure to check your bag when they're busy. Probably my favorite Huey's location. There's always a good amount of people here and the servers have always been friendly. We came in on a Sunday with a group of seven around 1pm. Typically a busy time but we were seated right away. Our waitress handled our large group amazing since we didn't all show up at once. She was always on hand for anything we needed and was attentive of drink levels and refills. We started with spinach dip which is always a good choice here served hot with a nice layer of fresh cheese on top. The chips served with it were delicious, cooked in house they were pulled straight from the frying oil straight to our table. Plus you get a side of salsa and sour cream always a nice addition! For my entree I ordered the Sunshine burger. Beef patty cooked to order with bacon, cheese, and topped with an egg. Typically my favorite burger on the menu but there's so many that I do tend to mix it up occasionally. Ordered a side of fries which is enough fries to split with another person. Quick tip on the fries they're the big steak fries and if you like your fries crispier as I do just ask them to fry them crispy! Maybe I just don't think my words will give Huey's Midtown justice, but here goes... Huey's Midtown has the best dern veggie burger in America. Yep. I said it. I always get it with one slice of Swiss and one slice of cheddar. I have yet to find a veggie burger to top Huey's in all of my travels around the globe. It's no surprise that Huey's usually wins the annual best burger surveys in Memphis. Despite Memphis' burger restaurant explosion, between 2015 and 2018, Huey's stands the test of time. They also have a pretty mean nacho dish. Come with your appetite for that heaping meal. It's delicious and filling. I usually get it with the chicken on top. They have a potato soup people come from all over town to gulp down. Their spinach dip is worth the calories. People also like the potato skins, fries and onion rings. Their sweet tea is also on point. As far as atmosphere goes, expect a red and white checkered table feel and a bar that's in steady use. On Sundays, there's music. They also have a trivia night and other fun stuff. So about those toothpick thingies in the ceiling. You're encouraged to shoot them through your straw and at the end of the year, the person who guesses how many are in the ceiling gets a prize. This place is good for the kiddos in the daytime, it's also a late-night spot. One of those places that never seems to close down. It's just a good old American restaurant and Memphis wouldn't be the same without this local chain. The Midtown location was the first of all the Huey's restaurants. It has personality and a festive environment. It's a well-oiled machine and Memphis institution. You haven't really experienced Memphis, if you haven't been to Huey's. read more

The food is great, were I rating the food it would be 5 stars. But either dine in or order DoorDash or UberEats delivery as the to go / carry out experience leaves much to be desired. My last 3-4 experiences trying to order to go have been terrible with either food not ready on time or poor service. Today, I ordered to go and requested curbside pickup, but when I arrived all the curb side signs said to go inside to pick up. I'm not sure why they offer curbside if the customer is expected to go inside? And I specifically tipped extra because I was expecting curbside service. So after parking and walking inside I told the to go girl I was picking up, but without even allowing me to finish speaking, she tells me to go to the bar. Which is crowded and no bartender around. Then when I finally find someone to help me he goes back to the same to go area and looks up my order and tells me how much longer. As I'm waiting, the same to go server that refused to help me politely asks the next customer for their name etc and checks on her order without interrupting and telling her to go to the bar.
