Mexican Lager
Alex A.

High Cotton Brewing does well with some of their beers. Some standouts are the Mexican Lager, Scottish Ale, and their Oktoberfest. Overall, I usually come back to a mix of those. Their service is great, and the outdoor area is a cool hangout during the warmer months. At times they have food trucks around to make it even better. Overall, it's a great spot with impressive beers and plenty of options. Stop by!

It's co-located with Flyway brewing. Industrial decor/feeling. The beer was decent. Free popcorn. Outdoor seating. Darts and some other games. Street parking.

Very large area. There are indoor and outdoor seating. Pet friendly. I appreciate the vast amount of entertainment here. They have board games, dart, and a TV screen in the back. I appreciate the complimentary popcorn. I saw a dead insect in the corner but that's fine as it rained a few days prior and as long as it's dead. The staff was nice. I would come back!

I'm cracking up writing this because their staff members legit take the title "high" part seriously. Our beertender, I believe was named Indigo or India. We couldn't make it out because she was...slurring. Also, we waited 19 minutes before she even popped up behind the bar. We wanted to leave but since we didn't rent a car and were dropped off via a somewhat expensive Uber, we wanted to at least try ONE beer. Not exactly raving customer service. She also got our order incorrect, but I was over it. She also promised popcorn but gave popcorn to a customer's dog instead. Though there is a lot to do here such as shuffleboard, bags, and darts, the vibe was just odd. I wouldn't say unsafe but odd. Vacant, unused. Like we were partaking in some sort of horror film. Beer was okay. We marked our beers in Untapped, paid and got TF out of there. Would never come back. There is also nothing around here. Which just adds to the surreal abandonment/horror vibe.

went here with wife and mum for mumther's day. had some nice beers and good food! got the pickle plate, cheese curds, and french onion dip and they were scrumpt! a nice nrewery experience and good food with it.

Bar area. Classic!

Flyaway beers mostly suck. Bring back the old original recipe High Cotton favorites. Thai Pale Ale, Coffee Stout, Razz wheat, and special seasonal stuff like Christmas Stout. You know, Things that made the brewery a stand-out. The Flyway beers are only ok. As a beer lover I personally do not like them much. I can tell you Flyway beers are not what Memphis wants. Food was really good, btw. Vibe in the bar was great! Service at the bar was amazing. Did not visit the restaurant this time.

Cool vibe. Nice bar tender. Cute area. Tried the blood orange kolsch and the razz wheat. Both were flavorful but the kolsch had more hops than I like. Cool spot. We'll visit again.

Awesome beer selection. Cool service. Lots of seating room indoors and out. Several TVs and a fun atmosphere. They also have board games!! Family and dog friendly too. And an on-site water cooler so we can stay hydrated :)

This place serves beer and that is it, but that is more than enough! (There is a restaurant you can order from next door - which we did) We came for a quick drink and stayed 4 hours! First, the ambiance is perfect. It is warm and inviting. There is a great seating area outside but also several areas with ample seating inside, as well. The bartender was SUPER friendly. He clearly wanted is to sample several beers and get the one that was just right. We were visiting from out of town and, on the recommendation of some locals, drove from east Memphis to check this place out. It was well worth it. If you like beer...and a warm, relaxing, and friendly environment, this is definitely your place!

Came here on a recommendation from a local while visiting Memphis. The bartender was great and so was the beer. Everyone was really nice and I would recommend if you're a beer lover and into craft brew. Very close to Beale street as well. Parking was easy too. They also sell canned beer to go so I got a six pack to enjoy when I got back to Texas. If in town again I'll be back.

My brother having a cool one.

We were at the very close Sun Studio ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/sun-studio-memphis ), which unfortunately was closed. As we headed back towards downtown (we were walking), we spied High Cotton. What better way to drown our sorrows than with a cool craft beer? I liked the beer. Some nice choices. Welcoming interior. Also nice outdoor seating, which I preferred. I kinda got the impression food options are close at hand, but I did not investigate. Bottom line: In an interesting part of Memphis, that I wish we had more time to explore.

Cool little brewery.. has a local bar vibe. MANY friendly patrons and a sweet, friendly beertender.. beers are tasty. Highly recommend

Fun place for a beer and games before or after hitting up Sun Studio. It was a nice atmosphere, good beer selection, great game options and also tasty food from the place next door if you're hungry - which we were!

Irish Irish Irish (Fancy Restaurant)…read more This was the first experience making reservations for an Irish pub, but it was way more than a pub. Think date night. The food was a delight! Recommend the pimento cheese bread sticks for appetizer or any other time. Also, this was the first time I've had a Kilkenny draft which was another highlight. I see now it's rare to find. Smooth and creamy. If I lived nearby, I would be here more often. It's a little on the expensive side, but well worth the price and experience. Just pointing it out to expect to pay, but also pointing out it was worth every cent.

The waitress was nice but not very attentive. Focused more on the larger table which I get but I also am a paying customer. Food came out quick and hot and always for a great price. I was hoping for their crispy brussels sprouts but they do not serve for brunch/lunch so had to go with ole faithful "The Scotch Egg". If you have never had one you should definitely try it and the mustard sauce is amazing with it. Unfortunately for you reading this, I didn't get a picture because I devoured that thing the second my plate hit the table!!! For my main meal I went with the corned beef reuben which you can see in the picture just looks thrown together on the plate (very unappealing). The corned beef was a bit dry and tough, the "special sauce" was non existent and couldn't even taste. The best part about a reuben is the crisp buttery rye bread but with this sandwich it sadly was not toasted at all which really takes away from the flavor as well. The chips were just your standard frozen bits but add some salt and ketchup, you're good to go. To top off I went with the crème brûlée for dessert which is always a winner. I will more than likely return as I do enjoy the restaurant and hope that my next experience is a bit more enjoyable.

About the Yelp reviews... Whoever, in times past, found fault in the food, service or anything else, must have arrived already a sourpuss. Our experience: Supernice, superfriendly, superefficient, superprofessional service. We felt welcomed and appreciated. Really good food. Fish & Chips: crispy, succulent, non-greasy. Bangers & Mash: Mild, tender sausages zinged with some ale-tangy onions. Shepherd's Pie*: simply delish. All the food arrived hot. But even IF the food had been 3-star instead of 5-star, we'd still have had a grand time because of the people. #Way2Go *I'm asking, not arguing, here, but shouldn't Shepherd's Pie, by definition, be made of lamb? I believe the place was empty when we took a seat at the bar but another party of 2 followed shortly behind and sat a little bit further down the bar. I tried something that sounded better than it tasted but ultimately this is a matter of personal preference and I have a high maintenance palate. The people next to us got wings, which looked good until they were dangerously close to a leak that had sprung from one of the exposed pipes above. They had to move to a table behind us and then some of the staff got a bucket to place on the bar to catch the dripping water but that made a very loud noise so then they put a towel inside of the bucket. I will admit that I have never experienced such a thing before. It looked like the pipe that was dripping had tape wrapped over that area so they had tried a "bandaid" fix in the past but it didn't work. Obviously, this does negatively impact the "ambiance" portion of the overall experience and getting the impression that this is an issue that could have been fully addressed previously but the decision was made not to. It wouldn't stop me from going back but it certainly isn't ideal.

There was music playing the whole time but not loud at all - loud enough you could hear it but it didn't impede upon your conversations in the slightest. And by the way the music they had playing last night (Tuesday Feb 10 2026) was EXCELLENT!! I felt like I was at a bar from my youth with that soundtrack. We started with 2 appetizers, pub pretzels and the Celtic queso dip. The pretzels came with honey mustard and some of the queso. The Celtic queso has tortillas and what appeared to be house made potato chips. Both were very good! The 2 adults had some beer on tap. A Yeungling and a 201 Hoplar. Kid (well he is 21 but doesn't drink) had a coke. Entrees were a smash burger with fries, a Buffalo chicken sliders with onion rings, and a shepherds pie with mashed potatoes and gravy and okra. Everything was very good! Often fried things are either over or under done and come out not great however whoever was working the fryer was on it because the onion didn't pull out of the rings when you bit it and the okra was still nice inside the breading. Excellent waitress who kept checking on us and nice environment. What's not to like!! Definitely will return.

But I was super impressed with the quality of the food! I expected a dive. And it is. But the food was fabulous!! Also, our waitress was excellent. Kudos to her. The inside is fun. Definite dive bar energy. We went all in. Appetizers, drinks, entrees. I regret nothing. We started with the queso appetizer and the pub pretzels. Both were very tasty. My one and only critique is that I wished the queso appetizer included some veggies like celery or carrots or something other than just chips. My son ordered the smash burger. Husband got the shepherds pie. I got the buffalo sliders. I like my buffalo chicken to be saucy. So I requested extra sauce. The kitchen seemed to misunderstand and instead of extra saucy, they put my sauce on the side and none on the chicken. Our waitress offered to send it back. That was not necessary. So she brought me lots of extra sauce. Incredible. The sauce was excellent. The chicken was excellent!!! Superb quality. Honestly, quite possibly the highest quality piece of chicken I've had on a chicken sandwich. Tender, moist, flavorful, and a large piece of meat. Very very impressed. I got the onion rings, at the suggestion of our waitress. They were fantastic. Washed it all down with a Yuengling. Truly, I can't say enough about this place. I was highly impressed. Most of the other customers appeared to be regulars who were seated at the bar. There were only a few groups seated at traditional tables. It was a Tuesday evening so I'm sure it's much busier on a Friday or Saturday. Oh - and just as we were leaving, they were setting up for karaoke. Apparently Tuesdays are karaoke night. Oh! And! The check was $77. That's with three beers, a Coke, two appetizers, three entrees! Not bad. Not bad at all!!
