*Update* I have been to Momma's many times over the years. I especially love their Bingo on Sundays. Their cocktails and chili are good too.

Smoked wings with lemon pepper dry rub. So good

These are my favorite smoked wings in Memphis. I'm partial to the lemon pepper dry rub. Be warned it can get loud especially on the weekends. But it's an overall good experience.

Had a wonderful lunch today at Momma's. It was so delicious. I ordered the smash burger and fries special they were advertising for downtown dining week. My friends ordered the chicken Parmesan sandwich that came with a huge piece of chicken. Both sandwiches were served on brioche buns. My hamburger came with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, pickles and onions. I opted for no mustard and ketchup. My burger was hot and I loved the crunchy meat sides. My friends enjoyed their chicken parmigiana sandwiches. The fries were hot and coated with yummy crunchiness. The fried mushrooms were fried perfectly and came with a horseradish based sauce. So very good!! Our server Janice was so kind and friendly. She was just lovely!! We met the marketing guru Eric. He was so cool and kind as well. Everyone was so personable and family oriented. The bar hosts different events each day. They have a large patio outside. It was sprinkling so we ate inside. It is dark Inside but comfy. The kitchen is located on Kentucky Street in downtown Memphis. We felt safe but some may feel it is not in the best of neighborhoods. Sometimes you just gotta trust your gut and take an adventure. Loved eating here and will return. It was worth driving 30-40 minutes for this special lunch!! Come on down and try Momma's!!

Had a great time at Momma's today! I had never been. We stopped in for a cold beverage and ended up playing several rounds of BINGO. The patio is very nice with misters to keep you cool. Nice stage for music or Bingo host. The food menu looked really good.

How should I begin? This was my first time at Momma's where our Yelpies Awards was hosted. The decor, atmosphere, vibe was an absolute experience. The staff was fun, professional and very down to the earth. The food and drinks are definitely to die for. I was in awe because it was extremely an electric atmosphere. Oh gosh, the food is delicious and mouth-watering. My Espresso Martini hit the spot and my taste buds. Wow! The music was awesome and so were the tequilla shots that Camilletreated us to were supreme. I am returning myself because they have a mazing staff and wonderful food. Thursday night is ladies night and karaoke night. If you're in Memphis make sure that you stop by. You won't be disappointed.

I like this place. I really do. In a former life, I'd either be a regular or staff. It's a dive bar. A dive bar of dive bars, but it's a glossy, well-curated version of a dive bar dive bar. It's kitschy as all get out...welcome to the world of big rigs, tow trucks, and backroads travel. Part museum of the open road, part homage to the interior set designer of Roadhouse, bar and kitchen all in one, it's impressive. Ample patio space outside the fairly narrow confines of what's built atop the slab. And in a seedy (but oddly, it doesn't feel as dangerous as South Main or the Core/Beale- I guess because you don't expect bad there, but here amongst warehouses on Crump, there's a weird vibe of 'hey, this feels safeish!'). You kind of have to know it's there to find it. Had a late lunch; sat at the bar and the barkeep was very courteous. I get that navigating the food portion of the menu isn't always a drink pourer's purview, but I asked her to help with a rec between the Firebird and the (whatever the Philly is called). I had the Philly with a cup of chili. The chili was hearty, pretty good with a touch of cumin that was noticeable (?). The Philly was a Philly. The onions did a great job of playing their part, but nothing above-par-noteworthy about said sandwich. All told, I should have gone with the Firebird. This is a solid 3 star joint by my math. Nothing bad, nothing great. The thing that stands out is the decor; I imagine it's a helluva bar that also happens to have good food. Aldo's stuff, especially Bardog, elsewhere is more refined in the area of exceptionally executed bar food. And it's closer to work. Momma's falls in line with his other offerings, but there something slightly less awesome about it.

Who knew Momma's Bar was like this! This spot is just the cutest vibe. The atmosphere is the perfect mix to hang out and grab a bite to eat, chat it up at the bar or go out on the enclosed and open patio, like what?! The night was out was sponsored by Yelp but the service was everything, warm and genuine. And the food was spot on good. We had a great variety to sample and the samples were sampling. All burgers are cooked medium and it was hand patted. If you know, you know. The flavor on each burger was hitting on all cylinders. The smoked pimento cheese was very good but the texture with the medium patty wasn't ideal for me. The deviled eggs were good but not sweet. If you like dill relish versus sweet relish you will love them and they are topped with bacon so thats a win win. The quesadilla was very nice, fresh and good flavor. The chili was good just lacking a direction. The presentation was great just lacked flavor. The green tea shot was the drink of choice for me. Great staff, great location and great vibe. A very mature feel and full of southern charm. I loved it! The hours are perfect, 7 days a week, open early for breakfast and close late. The price point is good but the multiple taxes damn near took me out! Drink tax, gratuity and TN tax, like what?! Go for the food and you won't be disappointed.

I've been to Momma's for lunch before and really enjoyed it, so next on the list was trying their brunch! While it's not listed on the menu, they do offer mimosa bottles with a small orange juice for around $25, which is a great option if you don't want to go the by the glass route. My boyfriend and I split the Bacon-Egg-N-Cheeseburger and Momma's French Toast. Overall, everything was good, though nothing totally blew us away...except for the fries. Just drooling thinking about it. I do wish they used a thicker cut of bread for the French toast, I think that would've taken it up a notch. That said, I loved that it came with bacon and eggs on the side. The burger was a bit better. I'd definitely order it again, though I think it could've used some kind of sauce to tie it all together. I ended up asking for a side of maple syrup to dip it in, which actually worked out well. Now, the fries, those were perfect. Crispy, golden, seasoned just right. I'd honestly go back just for them. We sat outside on the patio, which might've been a good idea when its not the middle of summer in Memphis. There's plenty of seating, but a few more fans would've made it more comfortable.

When you think of a dive bar, you envision this place. It's tucked away in an industrial area, filled with locals. Plenty of choices of ice cold beer. Judging by the assortment of trucks in the parking lot, this seems like the lunch of choice for area blue collar workers. Food is excellent! The Bubba Burger is a standard patty - lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and a slater of homemade mayo. Perfectly cooked medium, it's juicy and flavorful - and sloppy! Potato salad side was equally delicious; tasted homemade with the right ratio of potato, mayo and seasoning. This place is nothing fancy, and maybe a little intimidating from the outside, but inside it's good stick-to-you-ribs food and friendly service.

Needed a lunch stop en route so that we could keep driving. For the record, Momma's is easy to hop off and back on the 55! We picked up a to-go order and checked out the small bar area by the front door. Also saw a nice looking outdoor patio area, but didn't get to check it out. Staff was friendly, and promptly handed over our Firebird chicken sandwiches. Huge brioche buns, tasty sauce, crispy fried onions, chicken done well - this was excellent! Home fries also good, and we'll certainly stop again! If you've got time, a fun little locate bar later in the day is my guess...

Fries with breakfast and that biscuit, while small was DELICIOUS.

Food was excellent even without me caring for the sausage. Cooked excellently, just not my jam and my order got mixed up. No biggie because it was in the midst of a rush from sitting patrons and those looking to be seated. The bartenders here are nice, and knowledgeable and I've never had anything less than great service. I like the options on their menu as I'm almost always subbing some part of meal. ‍ So kudos to her! I went on a Saturday and they had live music and patio seating. It's a dive-ish bar, buy upscale level cleanliness. Lot and street parking is available! I'll be byke for my bacon and gravy lol

On a road trip, we searched for dog friendly places. This one has a great dog friendly outdoor, shaded patio. We had the roast pork chop and spicy chicken sandwich. Both were very good. The service was excellent. The menu is diverse and has something for everyone.

The thing I notice is that they are very inclusive. They have several nights including karaoke, comedy, drag shows, and various event nights throughout the week. The owner is super sweet and inviting. She made sure to go around and speak to everyone that was there. During my visit, I did order food. I had the chess club sandwich. It is served on white bread and is filled with salami, bacon, gouda, lettuce pickle and onions. It was ok. It took forever for it to come out. People who had arrived way after us received their food quicker than we did. I had to go to the bar several times to ask about our food. I found out that the bartender was also the cook, so that semi explains the delay. I had a salad along with my sandwich. It was ok. I couldn't eat it all because the dressing was not good. I do want to state that it is a cool place to dive into if you are looking for something to do throughout the week. I not sure if the food is meant to be the central focus, but they so have vegan options in addition to a full craft and alcoholic beverage menu.

They have a lunch special which is a pretty good deal for only $15.95. They have some good looking eggrolls and are sort of known for their cheeseburger soup. I was in the mood for fish and they offered it 3 different ways. I tried the blackened catfish plate with steamed veggies and twice baked potato with an unsweet tea. My colleagues also all had catfish (but fried) and one of my clients had the meatloaf special. Everything was really good, but I was starving afterwards. The best item was the catfish, it was plump and juicy and well seasoned. The veggies were mushy, twice baked was decent but mainly because of the cheese layer. The hush puppies are standard ones. The fish also comes with a small cold slaw.

I really wish they had Louisiana hot sauce or at least a sauce with some real kick to go with it. I enjoy the side salad and the champagne dressing too. One thing that I heard is really popular is their buffalo wing eggrolls. You get three but they are actually pretty filling. I tried them and really enjoyed them. I also had their cheese sticks and they were great too! The marinara sauce includes some cheese as well so it makes it a little different in a good way. The parking is pretty limited but the place is nice and the servers are very kind. It gives the typical dive bar aesthetic (dark setting, neon lights, nice bar, etc.). Where do you think the hottest gay bar in the south is? Well, if you wanna find out, I suggest ya all get to pumping some gasoline into this spaceship because we are heading across the galaxy to a place called The Pumping Station in Memphis, Tennessee. My friend, and fellow 1st Amendment Activist Silent Citizen, and I had just come into Memphis from Nashville so I could fulfill one of my lifelong dreams of visiting Graceland. Yes I'm a big Elvis fan. So after being on the road for the past 3 and 1/2 hours, what we both needed was a good stiff drink. But where would go to get us a good "stiff" drink? The place would turn out to be a groovy bar The Pumping Station. At first we had a bit of a hard time finding the place. Google maps kept telling us we were there. But where exactly was The Pumping Station? There is no big sign with letters lighted up bright with the words The Pumping Station. I wonder if it's that way on purpose. I must remember that we are in the south. The one thing that identified it for me was the rainbow flag in the window. Once I saw that I knew that we had the right place. Walking inside I fell in love with the place right away. The walls might as well of had the words "Dive Bar" written all over it. But please don't take that the wrong way. This is a good thing. For those of you who have read my past reviews will know that I am a huge fan of the classic American dive bar. Unfortunately, in many places they are a dying breed. But apparently that is not the case here in Memphis. The place was not too busy when Silent Citizen and I arrived. We were able to find a seat up at the bar right away. That's when we were greeted by two friendly bar tenders. One of them was a tall fellow with a shaved head and sporting Mustache Pete's stache. This would earn him the nickname Monopoly Man. The other one was shorter with dark hair and a smile that could light up the darkest alley at night. I would soon learn that his name was Gabriel. I'll just refer to him in this review as simply Gabe. Turns out that this was Gabe's first night working and Monopoly Man was training him. Oh lovely. Now let's talk about Gabe's margarita This guy mixed up a spectacular margarita. I mean this thing was absolutely fabulous. It had the right mixture of all the ingredients and just the right amount of alcohol to where it gave me a good buzz, but at the same time wasn't too overbearing. Plus he remembered to put salt on the rim. So many bartenders forget to do this and it's annoying. Especially when your paying $13 at a place like Good Times At Davey Wayne's. But that wasn't the case here with Gabe at The Pumping Station. Best of all it didn't cost $13. In addition to the fabulous margarita I was sucking on, I was enjoying some really groovy conversation with Gabe. I could've stayed at this place all night. But my friend wanted to go check out Beale Street. But that's ok for we'd return the following night. That's when Silent Citizen would meet the ever so "friendly" Junior. But I think I'll leave that story out of this review to protect the guilty. So I'm gonna go ahead and wrap this review up by saying that the best part about my time in Memphis, besides from Graceland, was my time at The Pumping Station. Seriously I loved this place. The atmosphere was groovy, the staff(Gabe and Monopoly Man) were extremely friendly & welcoming, and the drinks were made stiff and they didn't cost an arm and a leg. Who could ask for more? Well, maybe a massage from Junior? Nah. I'll pass. But the next time I pass through Memphis, I'll definitely be stopping at The Pumping Station. Until next time, may the margaritas continue to be fab and Gabe's award winning smile continue to light up those dark alley's. Happy trails. NASTY NATHANIAL
