So I was looking for hidden bars and speakeasies, as I normally do. I found this and it was super interesting because you have to walk through a shop that doesn't look like a restaurant storefront but it looks like a clothing store storefront. I thought that was a really dope idea that you have to walk in and then walk behind whatever you think it's supposed to be there to find the actual bar. When you come in the building is kind of dark. But when you walk back to the bar, it's super white and lit. It looks beautiful! We talked to the owner for a little bit, he was super nice and super friendly. My drink was good. Customer service was pretty good as well. We got there too late to where there was no food, but that's not why we were coming. This is a nice little hidden gem. That's the way the owner described it! Let's talk about this little jewel in "THE POCKET"! There is a nice security guy at door and he is exceeding his job!! Dress code is strictly enforced for women and men!! No t-shirts for sure as I saw women get turned around at the door very kindly. When you walk in it's a hug mirror waiting to catch your beauty! Ladies the 1st drink is free on Friday nights! I had a Red Blend wine that was top shelf delicious! I ordered the white bean hummous but that didn't have it available. I choose the shrimp tacos and truffle parmesan fries. Now the shrimp tacos and truffle parmesan fries were so appealing! That plating skills were fantastic!! Now I'm looking pretty, sitting pretty and about to eat pretty! The shrimp tacos were fresh, seasoned to perfection and they had the nerve to warm them flour shells!! By now I to dig in them truffle fries! Now I asked the waiter was the fries in Truffle Oil or truffle seasoning? She told me it's a truffle oil they use!! I was so excited if you don't know about Truffle Oil vs Truffle seasoning, please use Google right now! By far the waiter knew the menu AND the ingredients!! Overall great vibe! The atmosphere is perfect for a grown and sexy date night. Was a little disappointed that they didn't have crab cakes or hummus when I went. Also be advised, the service was a little slow for food and drinks, but once we got our order, I had a smile back on my face. Entering through the shop is neat, would be cool if the door was a little more hidden but it was still a neat experience nonetheless. Got in early and loved it. Nice chill atmosphere, not too loud, and bartender was great. About the only thing that would have been nice is if they had a mocktail menu. As the night went on it got more crowded and there was a turning point where the music got turned up and you couldn't easily hold a conversation. It wasn't bad, just not what I was looking for. Can't really fault them much for catering to the crowd that was coming in. If you like it more mellow, show up earlier or maybe look into the membership. Recently relocated here from Atlanta. Was told this place had a vibe similar to Atlanta.....WRONG! Menu is VERY limited. Food take a very long time. Live music was supposed to start about 9pm, and didn't start until after 9:30. Crowd is VERY small. NO Valet parking, but again this is definitely NOT Atlanta! This is the spot at the Memphis has been missing and it may be a little to progressive for the city. The upstairs is open to the public with full bar and kitchen. However the downstairs is reserved for members only. Membership includes live entertainment, a cigar room, members only events with complementary cocktails, and a free cigar per month. As a member, they also validate your parking and give you a metal membership card adding a level of prestige. Management is great and the food is great. Was very pleasantly surprised by this downtown establishment. Came here before a grizzlies game during the week for a cocktail and food and was surprised to see it wasn't more busy. It's very well lit in the bar area but the high booths still give you a sense of privacy. I had the French Cuff and my friend had the champagne cocktail, both on their Bespoke Originals menu. Both were light and refreshing. It was nice to see a cocktail menu of items other than martinis. We ordered the Wagyu Sliders which were perfectly cooked and the truffle fries. Both were very good. This place was not for me. As non-members, we were permitted into the upstairs bar only. As someone expecting a traditional speakeasy vibe, I was disappointed. It's white. It's bright. It's loud. As another reviewer mentioned, the music was surprisingly clubby. The cocktails were average. Inside, the service was good, though the hostess in the Tailors' Union storefront messed with us a little (I suppose attempting to make it seem more speakeasy-like) then asked for a tip, which I found offputting. Perhaps the members-only downstairs bar offers an atmosphere more like what I was looking for. I guess I'll never know. read more

Having a "hidden" entrance (although it can clearly be seen) to your 2-floor speakeasy through a space that appears to be a tailor's shop, called 'Tailors Union' is a great way to pique the interest of those that seek out a little something different for their evenings out. I'm all for a turn up but the music had more of a "I'm at the club" vibe but it could've just been the night. Being a guest, I was only allowed in the upstairs bar. The entire other floor is for members only, which boasts live music and cigars. I was jealous and wished that I could've checked the rest of the space out. I'm going to have to find myself a friend that's a member so I can really see what's going. The look was clean with lush white seating and felt like a VIP Ultra Lounge. The drinks were top notch which is what you'd expect from a modern day speakeasy. The menu was lined with classics like the 'Old Fashioned' and my current favorite the 'Negroni' but also featured in-house designed drinks. I didn't eat anything while I was there but the menu appeared to be upscale to match the level of the drinks. The staff was great, inviting and fun. Even the other guests at the bar were nice and friendly. My only complaint is the automatic 18% gratuity added to my bill and I wasn't in a group. I am a great tipper and will easily give 25% for good service but I guess that I understand why they take that approach. I definitely see what they are doing and will definitely go back the next time that I am in the city. I wonder if they'd want to open a similar space in Nashville. Don't waste your time here. While the idea of this establishment is a great one, I'm not too sure how long it will last. My girl friend and I were welcomed by the staff on a Saturday night around 9 o'clock, only to find a very brightly lit bar with very few customers. We sat at the bar and ordered a pretty decent cocktail. We were kindly given a tour by the staff, where the membership packages were explained, etc. However, it was very unorganized. (Also- if you plan to listen to live music in the "membership only" portion of the bar, don't get your hopes up. As the band they originally hired quit shortly after. I'd imagine it's because they didn't want to play to an empty room night after night.) I felt very "unwelcome" by the other guests, which turned me off completely. I was really excited and intrigued to visit The Pocket primarily because the "members" only Pocket was meant to stand apart from the stuffy clubs that are the hallmark of Memphis. The ambiance is perfect as well as the concept. The Pocket has decided to open the top floor to non-members which I was disappointed to hear. The dress code is not business casual not for woman anyway. There were women dressed in jeans, cut-off jean shorts, and wore flats.....another disappointment. The dress code of no shorts, tennis shoes, jeans, etc. should be applicable to both sexes. There are two levels of membership and other than having access downstairs and the complimentary cigar of the month I did not see any true perks for members. I was under the impression "exclusive" but I failed to understand how this is for members only when non-members are allowed. I have joined members only venues in the past and if you did not have membership or was the guest of a member you could not enter. There are no perks for members no free drink per visit, no birthday tab during your birthday month and to allow non-members entry and lenient dress code takes away from the perfect concept. read more

This was my first time and it was for a cousin who's friend was a "member"here. And I must say I was disappointed. The atmosphere was nice. Comfortable seating and the downstairs was for members only which was ok I guess. It takes away from other people who haven't been here and aren't members. We sat in a booth alll the way in the back and water was provided without question. However, our server "Jay" seemed to FORGET EVERYTHING. There was only 7 people in the booth and it seemed quite difficult for him to remember what was ordered and who ordered it. I ordered "the last alteration" which I understand is an acquired taste, but it was not made properly and the server did admit that the bar was lacking in a few ingredients. The drink also took at least 15-20 mins to get to my booth even though there was only 5 people at the bar. One of the girls at my booth noted her fries were served cold. Another girl notes that the bathroom was hot as Hades. I think that this place could use just a little more attention to the patrons and care. read more
