The chicken sandwich was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. It was grilled chicken but still incredibly juicy and flavorful. The three whiskey manhattan was also a standout. The two guys serving us (one of whom I think must be an owner or a manager) were incredibly nice, and everything came really quick. Truly a hole in the wall spot! I have been twice to this restaurant and both times were great! The restaurant is smaller, and usually pretty open seating wise. The staff are extremely nice and friendly! I would highly recommend the Cauliflower appetizer, I got it each time. The steak frites was also incredible and for a good price! Ok, I was pleasantly surprised by this place! We got the nachos, which is on the appetizers section of their menu, and it was huge! It could feed two people for sure. We also really enjoyed the duck wings and the truffle fries. They were flavorful, hot and fresh. Although the decor isn't the cutest or most trendy, I think the food and drinks make it worth stopping by on a night out. They have great happy hour deals and run special dishes/drinks during happy hour. This is a nice, out of the way bar tucked in an alley in Memphis. We got there at a busy time, around 7 on a Friday, and service was slow at first. But we weren't in a hurry and it got better when things lower down. My wife and I shared the Sophisticated Chicken Sandwich, which was very good and plenty of food for a light dinner for 2. This is my very favorite spot in Memphis. Staff is so friendly and attentive. The drink menu has something for everyone, and the cocktails are delicious every time. Best kept secret in Memphis! It shares a kitchen with a super fancy steak house, so you're pretty much getting steak house quality, but saving a pretty penny. I'm not a brussels sprout fan, but I loved theirs (minus the blue cheese cuz lactose - but my friends liked it with cheese). Fries are a little too thin for my preference, but the flavor and texture were perfect. The four of us all joined the clean pate club, ordered desserts which were also amazing, and ate all of those. Ordered three whiskey old fashioned to start, excellent and surprising considering it's a mix of whiskey. As for the food, I went with the burger (no bun) and added an egg for $2, burger was good but fries were amazingly good. The only vegetarian options were the sides (def lots of cream and cheese though in the sides) and each side was $10-14 so to get a "veggie" plate my bill was over$40. Hidden gem The Belle Tavern is stashed away on Barbaro alley and until they get the sign and window put in, you'd never know they were there. Once you get over the entrance, the inside is gorgeous. They've got bar seating and tables for larger groups. There's even plugs and usb ports under the bar for charging devices! Yes they have wifi and cable TV for watching the games. The bartender, Chris, makes great drinks and they have a fantastic selection for your cocktail fantasies come true. The happy hour has some good specials too. You can order off the menu from the front restaurant and I've heard they'll have a late night menu soon. So far everything I've tasted has been yummy. I'm excited to see when the window and entryway are installed and will share more photos then. In the meantime, I definitely see this place becoming my weekend haunt. read more

Went to Belle Tavern after finding it on Yelp! We walked in and grabbed a table near the back away from the bar. We were immediately greeted by one of two bartenders in the whole place. My drink was great! The only reason I give this place three stars is because we ordered a cheese and meat tray and waited for an hour for it. After asking the bartender three times about the status of our tray, we ultimately cancelled the order. I'm not sure why it took over an hour to make the meat and cheese tray (that we never actually got). The place was busy and seemed understaffed, which is hard when you're trying to order more drinks or get food. NOTE: Like the other reviews say, this place may be hard to find.
