Thumbs up! Or 40s if you happen to be at this place! Yes, they serve 40s. At first I was slightly disappointed by the $10 cover, plus $5 for crappy beer (because Memphis has made me a beer snob), but as the night went on, I truly fell in love with this place. I went alone and was nervous about it. I immediately made friends. I even ended up dancing, which I usually shy away from--especially if I'm alone. Everyone was so welcoming and there to have a great time. And the music? Well that's why people come here. If you want loud, rockin blues in your face in a dimly-lit, laid back atmosphere, you want to come here. Also, I was told that it's a byob kinda place. Oh, and being cash.

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!

THE FOOD & WINE At $65 for a 5-course Chef's Tasting Menu and $35 for the wine pairing, it is a good value. We started with a tasty carrot coriander amuse-bouche from Chef Nate, followed by: * Georges Banks Scallops: Served with tomato gelatin, cured kiwi, and crema. Paired well with a crisp New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. * Sweet Potato Tamale: Topped with spiced mayo, avocado crema, and charred cabbage. The spicy jalapeños and radishes added a bright kick that paired nicely with a blush-colored, floral Pinot Grigio. * Elysian Fields Lamb Cubano: A rich, complex dish featuring lamb shoulder and a fantastic touch of lamb heart (marinated for a week in adobo). Fresh arugula and pickles offset the richness, and the toasted focaccia was an amazing match. Paired with a medium-bodied Grenache that cut through the rich flavors. * Acadian Redfish: Charcoal-grilled with a creamy crawfish hollandaise and light-bodied potato crisps. This is the chef's elevated take on his mother's fish and chips, and it had a nice balance of oil and salt. * Dessert: Finished with a strawberry ice cream terrine and a decadent six-layer carrot cake that was moist, intense, and packed with pistachio crème. * We had a robust 2015 St. Emilion with a medium/heavy body, nice tannins, and age! THE SERVICE * The service was highly attentive, friendly, and earns a solid 4 stars. Sam, the sommelier, was knowledgeable and shared his insights on the pairings (he noted the 3rd and 4th courses were his personal favorites). Special thanks to Daisy for helping us with our first visit, walking us through the tasting courses, and recommending local places. * Because the restaurant ambitiously rotates its tasting menu every 2-3 weeks, it is harder for the staff to keep on top of the tasting menu details (compared to their regular menu items). OVERALL Overall, a fantastic 4-star experience. The culinary creativity and the beautiful dining room make it highly recommended!

My sister and I really enjoy eating at this restaurant while we're out shopping or running errands…read more The big HOWEVER here is this restaurant notoriously messes up on the orders they prepare for delivery. AND I always get the same answer when I call to find out what happened, "Oh, your order must have gotten mixed up with another order. We can prepare that for you, and you can come pick it up." Ok, first, if I'd wanted to pick the order up, I'd have ordered a pick-up order. Second, when I order delivery, it's usually at least a $150.00 order, and I expect all my items to be in the delivered order or for the restaurant to have called to tell me they don't have something and offer me a substitution or refund/no charge. I realize that people got used to being treated badly by businesses during COVID because customers had little alternative at the time, but those days have come and gone. And, yes, Golden Corral isn't "swank." I've worked food service. Here's the very, VERY simple steps to success: Take/Receive the order. Prepare good food/items to fulfill the order. Employee checks contents of bags/boxes/containers to insure all items are present and ready. Customer is given the items ordered - whether in an establishment, from a drive-thru, or by delivery. That's it. Sooooo simple. Restaurants need to get back in the mindset that serving good food is a given - it's CUSTOMER SERVICE which should be their number one priority.

And the owners seem like hard-working people just trying to make a living. I'm on a pescatarian diet (fish + veggies), so I didn't try some of their tasty-looking meat options. (Lamb chops?!) Thankfully, they had baked fish, which sounded perfect. The cashier said it would take 20' to cook, and I was willing to wait. I got one of each flavor. I took my food to the car and ate there. You could have told me it was from any restaurant, and I would've believed you. The fish was flavorful and very tender. Very reasonable prices, too. Recommended. Would return. The fries were fresh and had a spicy seasoning, and went perfectly with the sauce. There isn't anywhere to sit, but while you're waiting (which was about 6-7 min) you can browse the market and some of their more usual items... things you may find in Wizards, for example. Great candy section too!
